ASM Tsukuba Special 2008 S2000

Found this while I was glancing at the ASM blog….Just when you thought the ASM aerodynamics couldn’t get any crazier, well, take a look for yourself.

I couldn’t really translate exactly what they were trying to say but it mentioned something along the lines of them being big fans of F1 racing and their aerodynamics so they decided to test similar aero on the S2000. Not only is it creative and cool but also functions. Like a majority of their aero parts, it was all wind tunnel tests but results remain confidential.

Shakedown runs were made this month at the Okayama International Circuit on Advan A050 tires and prototype ASM suspension…

Sick engine set-up with individual throttle bodies, I can only imagine how this thing sounds screaming down the track.

They also mentioned running a Drexler LSD and how quiet the thing was when loading and unloading. The unit was so quiet that it didn’t even make any sound and almost seemed as if it wasn’t working because engagement was so delicate.

The aero pieces are absolutely crazy. You almost don’t wanna believe that it’s necessary but ASM aero is all wind tunnel tested so none of the pieces are wasted on the S2000…

They also show a glimpse of the new Recaro SP-A Pro Racer seat that they’re running….

So badass….damn….If you understand Japanese or just wanna see some crazy stuff, take some time to check out the ASM website and their blog. Alot of cool stuff on there to see….

On another note, Happy Halloween, go out and make some bad decisions people…haha…

Kid Kombo….

Damn this thing is a beast….Before I get started on that, let me tell you about my adventure over at Honda-Tech. I started a thread in the GDD forum over there telling guys to check out my blog…I mean it wasn’t really a big deal but there are so many guys on there that absolutely obsess on posting some kind of jackass response so that they can become the next “epic thread” guy. You know who they are, those guys that have no lives and just want people to laugh at some stupid response they post? Yeah thoses guy. On top of that, they closed my thread because it was deemed “in direct competition” with them. Uhh…Giving me more credit than I deserve perhaps? Ehh…anyways…

This EK belongs to Kid Kombo from Washington state. I have had a chance to see a couple of other Honda’s that came from the Trikspeed crew and they’re all pretty legit. The first thing that probably stands out immediately at you is the Voltex canards that are mounted up front. It seems a little crazy at first but it flows well with the car…

The canards are custom-fitted Voltex twin-canards originally meant for an Evo. Apparently they were a bitch to fit but the pictures and overall result show that he did an awesome job.

Lurking under the hood is a battleship grey engine bay and K-swap. Once again the attention to detail is present. The battery terminals look like they should have came that way and the catch can and cooling plate up front add a nice touch as well as functionality….

The Stack cluster pretty much says it all. Just a beautiful cluster. This thing looks like it’s ready for some track time. I’m not too big a fan of the wheels but he says that they’re just his beater wheels and he’s got something else coming in. With all the quality stuff he’s put into this build, I doubt I’ll be disappointed. Kid Kombo’s EK is gonna be a force in 2009, it is an example of what’s to come in the future: Show-quality detail with track-ready performance….I love it.

Props to Hasback for the great shots….If you guys are in Socal and want your cars shot, make sure to hit him up….

I missed a day!

Sorry guys for missing an update. I’m trying to keep this thing updated daily with at least something to look at. Unfortunately I was a little tied up and was also working on finishing up a feature that I was writing….Don’t go running away and thinking I’m not gonna update anymore…I just had to get some sleep….

Huge Congrats…

An absolute huge congratulations go out to “Heymikeyyy” Michael Cristi and Ojay Bayang for the recent features in the final 2008 issue of Honda Tuning Magazine. I got a call from Mikey yesterday informing me that he had seen the issues out over at Pit Crew….

I’m sure you guys have seen or heard of Mikey’s DC. We’re all very excited because Mikey’s been working on this thing for the past 7 years and to finally see it in print is an awesome thing. I remember all the conversations we had when I first met him about his DC and what direction he was going in. Back then it was still sporting an “invader” hood and the bay remained relatively stock….boy how things have changed over the years. I’m so proud of this guy…and I’m happy to hear that he’s ecstatic about how the feature came out. I had the pleasure of writing up this feature and I think the feature shines because I’ve known Mikey for a couple years now. I felt like I was right there with him as he built this DC to be what it is now….

…I am also especially proud to see Ojay Bayang’s Element finally make it to print. I remember seeing this thing for the first time at a Nisei Showoff when it was still rolling around on Advan’s. I have never seen an unappreciated platform draw so much attention. I think the fact that an Element could make it into a Honda magazine populated by Civics and Integras speaks volumes. I had the opportunity to help out at this shoot and did my best to devour the bagel sandwich that was given to me. This feature means alot because I’m always around this car and know every little detail that was put into the completion of this build…

Here’s a shot that we took when Honda Tuning Photog-extraordinare Rodrez was shooting the Element for the feature.

On a personal note, these two features represent a great accomplishment for my friends and I as this would make the 3rd car from the Doods!/Phaze2 camp to receive a cover and/or feature within a two month span. This brings our total to 5 feature cars overall. Can’t say enough for our guys and we are very thankful.

Of course I have to give love to Chase McMaster for his cover. I followed his build thoroughly until the day he completed it and loved every moment of it. This kid came outta nowhere and took the scene by storm with his amazing ability to assemble wiring harnesses for some of the nation’s best Honda’s.

Sometimes you see guys that are great at doing work for others but when it comes to their own personal projects, they never really meet expectations. That is not the case for Chase’s CRX. It belongs on the cover, plain and simple. You would be doing yourself an injustice if you didn’t go out and cop an issue of Honda Tuning Magazine. This is a great issue to end the year. 2008 saw the comeback of Honda’s into the mainstream and this issue is the perfect way to top it all off….I have never been prouder than I am now of our great community.

Skills S2000

I first spotted this S2k earlier this year when I was glancing at an Option mag. I really wish I knew more about the car but there isn’t too much info on it on the web. My inability to read japanese also hurts my cause but through some digging I managed to find some older pics of it from an X5 Japan show from 2007…

I love the execution of everything on this car. The Spoon aero, custom rear flare, hardtop, etc….It’s pictured here with RE30′s on it but it’s rolling on some HRE C21′s now…

Here’s a shot of the custom rear molded to the Spoon rear bumper…

Another shot of the flare….notice the “OPAK” Cali plates, an interesting touch…

What stands out about this S2000 is the audio set-up by Skills Japan. The set-up is amazing and looks crazy under the hardtop…

Beautiful…

A shot of the engine set-up, wish I had some specs on it…

This a more recent shot of it on the HRE C21 wheels. Looks great either way with the RE30′s or these wheels but for a shop demo car, the HRE’s definitely add that extra “flare”…

The rest of the pics are other random shots of it at the X5 show…this thing doesn’t really get too much coverage over here in the states and it definitely deserves it…

Torco Car Show 10/25

Here’s some shots from the Torco show this past Saturday courtesy of DJ Murdock 818….

Big Mike’s Honda Tuning Magazine featured BB4 Prelude….I love this lude. I had the opportunity to write the feature for this car and got to know the guy pretty well. We’re not like “hang out at hookah bars and wear silk pants” kind of friends, cuz Mike does that on his own time….

…If you run into Big Mike ask him about his 3-way foldable broadway mirror…jesus…haha….

Spoon RL, lookin tough….damn…wish I coulda went to see this thing in person….

Salem and his Honda Tuning Magazine cover TSX made an appearance of course, looking clean as always on polished TE’s….

Hmmm…not so sure about this look. Maybe if it was full lowrider themed….but to each his own…. ;)

Good stuff Murdock!

Gotta shout-out the fam bam!

Rodrez’s EG for sale…

If you happen to be apart of the Honda community (which I’m sure you are, otherwise you wouldn’t be here), than you have probably heard of the name “Rodrez”. The man is responsible for photographing some of the best Hondas out today. With features in Honda Tuning, C16, Super Street, etc., he has had his eye, and his camera, focused on presenting you the nation’s best.

What many don’t know is that he has built himself quite a car. Although he’s never actually shot his own car, he’s driven it to all the major Honda meets out here in Socal. When I first met Rodrez, I didn’t even know what car he drove because the guy really keeps to himself. Once I got to know the guy, we became pretty good friends and I’ve had alot of opportunities to work with him in the magazine industry. Turns out he’s got himself a Honda Element too and a CR-X before that. He has a great eye for spotting great builds so of course you would expect him to have one of his own. And he certainly does.

I have personally never seen a car on ITB’s that has run and idled so smoothly. The bay is ridiculously clean and the exterior sports some pretty money Backyard Special pieces. I’ve been around this EG for a couple years and it’s every bit as clean now as it was then.

Like many of us who claimed that they would never sell their cars, it has come time for Rodrez to let go. He wants to start on another project and get something that’s more representative of his old age….haha. Now’s your chance to get one of the best EG’s ever built…..The car is loaded, runs perfect, and the price doesn’t make you want to go out and punch babies…..Peep the link for more info…

Salem’s 2006 CL9 TSX…

This is my boy Salem’s 06 CL9. I first met Salem at J’s Gathering up in Norcal in January and he was a pretty quiet guy at first. Almost too quiet, like serial killer quiet…We ran into some Evo-owners that were trying to get crazy at the show and thats when I realized that this dood was pretty down. Turns out he’s a pretty nice guy, and he’s got a pretty nice ride too….

When I first saw this TSX, it wasn’t near what it is in these pics but I knew it was special. After a couple months, I was informed that Salem would be getting a feature in Honda Tuning magazine. I actually had the opportunity to go to the actual shoot for the mag over in downtown Los Angeles and even had the pleasure of writing the feature.

This is one of the most impressive TSX builds I have ever seen. I’m not just saying that cuz I’m friends with the guy either because I probably have never even told him. The pure subtlety of it and functionality of the parts equipped make it a timeless build. Many years from now we are all gonna look back at this CL9 and it’ll still make sense, you know what I mean? If you get the chance, please pick up a copy of the mag as it’s currently out in circulation right now. Just look for the white TSX on the cover….

Route KS “Super Madonna 999″

I spotted this thing one night when I was searching for NSX liveries. The initial pic I saw was so damn small that I had no idea what it was. What stood out to me  was the name: “Super Madonna 999″. When I think “Madonna”, the first thing I see is this freakish looking beast woman…

I encountered this mythical, haggard-linebacker-like creature many times in my search for the Madonna NSX and I had almost given up. It wasn’t until I took a closer look at the car did I realize that the yellow two-toned NSX belonged to none other than Route KS.

A quick link to their website revealed many more pics and this NSX is pretty impressive. Turns out that this is one of their new demo vehicles and the name “Super Madonna” is derived from the new “Madonna” aerokit that it’s sporting.

The Super Madonna weighs a mere 999 kg and runs 59 second lap times at Tsukuba. The hood, trunk, doors, and GT wing are all made of dry carbon. I didn’t really see to many specs on the engine but it lists that the 3.2L is tuned on a F-Con V-Pro. Overall a really impressive NSX, wish I knew more about it….

Video – Spoon NSX-R GT at Motegi

I was browsing Dino Dalle Carbonare’s blog the other day and caught a glimpse of a video his buddy made of the recently finished Spoon NSX-R GT….

This thing sounds ridiculous!

Loi Song and Sportcar Motion’s K24 EG

Loi is at it again….If you know Loi and Sportcar, you know that their Honda’s never cease to amaze. This EG sports a K24 block/K20 head combo that features 14.5:1 compression JE Pistons, Crower Max-Lite rods, and Skunk2 valvetrain.

I’ve known Loi for a while now and I’ve had plenty of opportunities to visit his shop. He’s probably one of the nicest people you will ever meet and if you ha

ng out at the shop long enough, he might even buy you food…haha.

Lookin real good on the Enkei’s….Something about a white Honda that’s so timeless. Such a subtle exterior with carbon fiber accents and a beast of an engine lurking within.

Dyno’d with barely 2 miles on the motor……It’ll be no time before this thing hits well over the 300HP mark…

If you need any work done or wanna inquire about a K-swap…make sure to hit up Sportcar Motion in San Marcos…..http://www.sportcarmotion.com

Welcome to “The Chronicles…”

Hey guys, thanks for visiting and I hope you guys enjoy it enough to come back and listen to me ramble about anything and everything Honda-related. I made this thing so that I can summarize all the great things I’m seeing either in person or on the net. Kinda like Honda-tech without all the senseless rambling on that can happen from time to time…..Anyways….Enjoy.
