What’s coming up in December….

Image Courtesy of Honda Tuning Magazine.
Well the year is about to come to a close and what a great year it’s been for Hondas in the import/sport compact community. Seems that Hondas are becoming the car of choice once again as well as personal garage build project cars. Drifting and other make cars are beginning to take a backseat now with the reappearance of great Honda builds throughout the nation. What I plan to do is compile like a list of the top 10 builds of 2008. I know some people may be left out and there could be alot of people with something to say about my choices. But the beauty of it is….that’s it’s my own personal list. And if my opinion doesn’t matter to you, than it shouldn’t bother you at all. I’ve been heavily involved with the whole scene for awhile now and this year I have tried to make it out to as many meets and events as possible to catch a glimpse of everyone’s projects. Doing work for Honda Tuning Magazine has also presented me with a new found love for these cars and meeting the great owners behind each prospective car….

…I have met so many great people this year and it would be my pleasure to try to compile a list of my favorites. If at all possible, I would love to hear some feedback from my readers and fans of The Chronicles. This thing has actually only been around for like 2 months or so and it has grown enormously. I had no idea this thing would be so successful and I really thank everyone for logging on and reading all the awful gibberish I put on this site. I would most definitely love to hear some personal opinions in regards to what you felt were the top cars of 2008. I know I know, there are just so many to choose from, and I already have a couple in mind. It may be tough to narrow it down to just 10, but just think hard about projects stuck in your mind and truly have made a dent on the industry this year.
With that said, please feel free to email me or post your ideas in my thread over at NWP. I don’t really go on Honda-Tech anymore and they won’t let me post my shit up over there anyway. Hell you could even talk to me in person and tell me all about it. Even though I have terrible memory and don’t even remember my own phone number, I will try my best to remember the input that you guys give me. Also, if there’s a car that you feel hasn’t gotten enough exposure this year and deserves to be on the list, please let me know.
They can be mag featured, street parked, whatever. If it’s a great build, it’s a great build and it will get it’s recognition. Thanks everyone for reading this thing and keeping up with it, it means the world to me….
What’s goin on this weekend besides turkey day?…

Well with the influx of new members joining up on NWP4Life, the crew over there decided that this Thanksgiving weekend would be the perfect time to throw a new member meet and greet. For those who have been wondering for an eternity what NWP4Life meant, “NWP” stands for Northwood Pizza. This was originally the spot where a couple Honda heads used to hang out at and those heads eventually created NWP4Life…

If you got nothing going on this weekend and are burned out by the madness of Thanksgiving and “Black Friday”, please stop by and come kick it. Meet new people, eat pizza, wings, play games, talk shit, etc…..It’s a chance for people to put faces to the forum usernames and get further acquainted by the laid back atmosphere of NWP. The meet will be on the 30th (A Sunday), and will start from 11am until 3pm.
Of course, don’t be a complete asshat and respect the normal meet rules. Don’t do burnouts, eat and run, general stupid ass behavior, etc. You know how to act like a human being, please be respectful.
Other than that, everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving. Be safe, don’t drink and drive, over shit your toilet, punch relatives, or anything of the sort. Of course the day after, you can go Black Friday shopping. I stood in line for 6 hours last year at Fry’s and I’m still wondering if it was worth it. Of course I got this computer that I’m using now and a 500 gig hard drive for $75 but it was a total pain in the ass standing in line for that long. I would venture to say that it’s about as close to the apocalypse that I’ll hopefully ever have to experience.
Anyways, NWP meet this Sunday! Meets are always good….especially with a long weekend and nothing to do….Oh we highly recommend wearing camo shorts and a black wife beater. And if at all possible, frost your tips please.
A Nostalgic Moment…DOHCResearch and TeamRice.org…

As far back as I can remember being into all things Honda, one of the first things that pops into my mind was always looking at dohcresearch/dohccorp and teamrice.org…. Back 5-6 years ago, I didn’t even own a Honda and building one was nowhere near realistic. I remember looking at these sites for hours just because they were filled with all kinds of sick pics of the import community in Hawaii….

The two Hondas that stood out to me and still stick in my memory today, are the two hatchbacks you see above. The green hatch was the epitomy of clean and the orange one had such a menancing persona. The intercooler on that thing was just massive. I remember seeing that Skyline APEXi core and just didn’t believe what I was looking at. The green hatch introduced me to Work RSZ-R’s and to this day, I still want a set, even if I don’t have anything to put them on…

I’m not claiming that these guys did anything first, or came up with any specific look before anyone else, but the cars that were on those sites were incredible. I don’t even remember how I stumbled on dohcresearch back then…I think it was because I caught an image of Kara Navarro somewhere and it linked me over to that site. Whatever the case, it always stuck in my mind and I always checked for updates…I wonder whatever happened to Kara Navarro….probably has some kids now and far from the whole scene….

I still believe the west coast has always run things over on our side of the globe but Hawaii was pretty damn close. Their cars just had a certain style and attitude to them. I mean honestly, the moment I mentioned “teamrice.org“, you immediately thought of one of the cars pictured in the above images right?…

Teamrice is no longer around anymore unfortunately but Dohcresearch still is. In fact, they even have archives of all their stuff from the past. Pretty cool stuff. I don’t know these guys nor do I have any affliation with them. I just decided to mention them cuz I honestly used to be a fan of their work, and just looking at their site now brings back a feeling of nostalgia and the images of the cars on that site are forever burned in my memory….

I remember writing a feature for an RSX from Hawaii a couple months back and it made me think back to the days when I used to look at these cars for inspiration. I don’t know what the owners of these cars are doing nowadays but I can see that the scene has shifted over in Hawaii and you don’t really see stuff like this anymore. Not to say that their cars aren’t great anymore, but I just don’t see anything now that really makes me say “damn, I’m gonna remember that” . Maybe it has more to do with me just being more knowledgeable of the scene now. I’ve seen alot in the last couple of years that’s maybe lead me to have a more selective view of “memorable”.

Here’s a shot of the Dohccorp site as it is today. You can see the archive of their previous layouts too dating back to 2000. Probably alot of kids nowadays that have never even heard of these sites. It’s a shame that Teamrice.org is gone….
Here’s some throwback videos that Teamrice.org used to always include with their photo features….That orange hatch was a fuckin beast!
Damn, it’s 4:30 am and still no Super Street Fighter II HD Remix!!!
another one bites the dust…

Well, you’ve probably already heard that Turbo Magazine recently bit the dust…and you may also have heard this week that Sport Compact Car got the axe….Guess what? Now Modified: Luxury & Exotics is also donzo. Ben Schaffer over at “The Real JDM” revealed the news yesterday that the mag will cease operation….
Times are bad, like really bad. When title after title is being wiped out of the magazine industry, you know something is up. And it may not be the end of the cuts either. Personally this has me a bit worried. As a writer and someone who wants to pretty much do this as a profession long term, it is very unsettling to know that so many titles are being removed from publication. It’s like a guy trying to break into the NBA or something and teams are folding. Or a prostitute trying to be the big whore but all the john’s are disappearing. It creates fewer job opportunities. Hopefully the more popular titles make it the rest of the way as we try to get out of this economic hole. Turbo I guess was bound to happen, SCC was a bit of a surprise because it still had quite a loyal following, Modified Luxury & Exotics….ehhh, I don’t know. I actually looked at that mag plenty of times and I’m sure it had it’s own niche. But with DUB magazine floating around I guess it just wasn’t necessary for it to be around anymore. The economy is so terrible right now that people don’t care to look at modified super high-end vehicles.
I’m crossing my fingers in hopes that titles like Honda Tuning Magazine, Super Street, and Modified stick around. Those are all titles I follow closely and Honda Tuning of course provides me with the means to eat and pay my bills….
I don’t know what I would do if I wasn’t a writer…I guess I could become a doctor, or Spiderman…or play basketball for the Chinese National team…
JTuned 2008 Coverage…

So in case you didn’t know, the JTuned meet was this past weekend and despite the lack of heavy advertising, the event looked like a huge succes. It was jam packed by the time I got there, which was probably around 12:30 or so. The crowd was so big to the point where adjacent businesses began complaining about the lack of available parking for their customers. What’s good about JTuned meets is that they’re always very diverse so all kinds of cars showed up…

All sorts of people showed up to support the event, some guy even showed up in his weed-themed onesie (See above..haha…)

One of the first cars I spotted when I got there was this silver S2000. I like how even though it has alot of aero modifications on it, the overall package is executed with subtlety. It’s got a silver and green theme to it, which could be disasterous, but the green is pulled off in a tacky way and adds a nice contrast to the exterior….

Also spotted this Fit. You don’t really see too many Fits in red so this one really stands out. I would have gone with different wheels (Just because I’m not a fan of Volk AV’s) but as a whole, it’s a nice little Fit. There’s a rack on it and it actually has something on it, which is rare, considering how racks are becoming more trendy nowadays and people just have racks for no apparent reason. You know who you are too…haha…don’t front. If you got a rack and have nothing to put on it, please, just leave that thing at home. It’s one of those things that are really hit and miss…

Of course I ran into Nasif and his Civic because the guy shows up to everything. Loving the concave TE37′s up front….They’re so wide that Nasif ran over somebody’s pizza that was on the floor and didn’t even notice it until I told him. The wheel swallowed up the box and everything and his tires had cheese and shit all over it….true story, wish I had pics of it….haha….

A big group of Ruckus owners showed up and got prime spots up front at the meet. It’s cool to see people working on these things and doing so many different kinds of modifications to them. I wish I had one, but I only know how to ride bikes laying on the floor because I have terrible balance. If it has less than three wheels on it, I’m on my back, guaranteed….

Had to show you guys a shot of this coupe….damn, nothing so timeless on a Honda as a nice yellow hue and some bronze Mugen MF10′s. So clean….I mean, you look at it and the exterior is basically stock but it had people turning their heads all day long. Rumor has it that the owner sprayed the car himself too….hell of a job….

Sid from Phaze2xDoods! finally decided to bring his DA out. We haven’t seen this thing in a minute and it’s sitting real hard on the new Work XSA’s. Notice the smoked headlights too….

As we were getting ready to leave, the Tjin Edition Fit from SEMA showed up and it looks even better in person. I personally was iffy on the wheel choice but seeing it in person kind of changes my opinion of it…

“FLOSS” from the HBK family showed up on new wheels, I’m not entirely sure what they were…Looked like Euroline SL’s but the EK definitely looked alot harder with the BBS wheels on it….He was also parked on the wrong side of the lot so the ladies at Red Robin were probably looking to tow this thing away….It got bad. It was so packed that they had to announce on the mic to have people move their cars or else the event would be shut down….

“Heymikeyyyy” (4 y’s) and Tina were kind enough to make an appearance. Mikey’s DC should be back real soon with even more stuff done to it. He’s too busy watching Animal Planet and doing coke that he probably forgot that his car is gone….

Here’s a pic of me talking to the homie Dennis from Supastar aka the black guy from Futurama…

Nice stock body NSX I spotted with Work VS-KF’s on it….Super high offset…And yes that is a motorhome in the background…

Also spotted this badboy haha…Looks like something straight outta Max Power magazine or something…haha…or from the future, a very sad future, like an alternate timeline where people just uppercut Pinatas and any taillights that fall out must be molded onto your trunk….oh what a dark day….Speaking of which, I was looking at Max Power the other day because I saw one out of it’s packaging…and you know what? They don’t show naked chicks in there anymore! That’s the only reason anyone ever read that thing. I thought I was gonna see some euroboob but the whole issue, not one boob…not one….

Ooooh Ka-pow! You didn’t think I was gonna leave you guys hanging and not show you the front of this beast. Mustang headlights, fender flares, BMW sidevents…so much win going on that Ojay is about to spit up his Red Robin hamburger and Bob Marley was staring that shit down….haha…
Jailbreak at the Honda Asylum…Part 3…I will dub thee “Hondatechgate”…

Oh…but yes, more Honda-Tech news. More and more people are beginning to bitch about the layout and what not. Some have left, many have moved over to NWP4LIFE, and the remaining continue to bitch but will not leave the site because they really just don’t have much to do. Even more news is springing up everyday involving what went down and why the change happened. Well I caught this interesting bit of news and this is the true back story of why the switch occurred. Basically to sum it up in a nutshell, two childhood friends started HT, one got power hungry and sold HT to Internet Brands, shut his friend out of everything and kept everything for himself, friend is fighting back with gigantic lawsuit to regain what is rightfully his……phew…deep breath.
Well among the 473 threads (Yes I counted) per day about how much HT sucks and how people are bailing, I caught this interesting tidbit. It’s basically the lawsuit against Michael DiCarlo and exactly what he’s being accused of. It is long. Like if your eyes are shitty and you can’t read more than 3 lines at a time or without running your finger under the words, do not attempt to read it. Your head will explode or you will spontaneously combust.
Anyways, I’m gonna head over to the JTuned Meet tomorrow at Super Autobacs. If you want a sticker, just come by and pick one up from me, I got a bunch made. If you want you can buy me food from Red Robin because I can’t stand watching people eat through the window anymore. Oh to be poor….
Hope the link still works by the time you guys read this, alot of interesting stuff in the post, and it basically explains everything.
Money ruins people. Be careful. Everyone has a price. You wave some green in their face, you never know what will happen.
Wek’Fest Hella Announced for 2009…

The man formerly associated with running the J’s Gathering series of events in Norcal has now set out on his own and aligned himself with Wek’Sos Industries to create “Wek’Fest”. I don’t have too many details but Ernesto no longer associates with J’s Theory anymore so there will no longer be J’s Gatherings. Why Wek’Fest? Umm…Have you considered the alternative: Wek’Gathering? Yeahhhh…Anyways, more details….
Weksos Industries is proud to present a brand new gathering! “WEKFEST” will be held on Sunday, FEB 08, 2009 in the Japantown underground garage in downtown San Francisco!Ernesto JR, the previous gathering coordinator, has teamed up with us to host this event! Some of you might remember the gatherings of the past and already know the turnout will be impressive. Registration for show participants and vendors will be announced very very soon! We are expecting a full house for this event, approximately 300+ cars along with vendors & manufacturers!
I remember going to my first J’s Gathering this year. It was pretty fun. The roads are pretty fucked in Norcal though. They’re “Hella” fucked-up. They don’t even have potholes there, they’re craters. It probably wasn’t a good idea for me to go clubbin’ the night before with the homies either cuz I slept for 2 hours and had to drive to downtown SF all hungover. I also had the biggest case of the liquor shits ever and had to take a dump inside the Denny’s in J-Town. TMI? Uhh….think of it as a public service announcement. Do not drink gallons of Grey Goose and expect to stand around all day inside a parking structure with no toilets and act like you’re not gonna have to shit. Good lord. I felt bad for that Denny’s afterwards, until I proceeded to order the chicken noodle soup there. You think chicken broth, chicken, and vegetables is pretty straight forward but no. Denny’s will fuck it up. I once ordered a chocolate milk from Denny’s and they gave me water and chocolate powder, I swear. Anyways, J’s Gathering was a pretty fun show. The PhazeXDoods! family took home 5 awards that day and we only had like 4 cars there. We did have an incident with some crew from up there, I forget their name exactly (A group of stock Evo’s, crew name started with “The”, space, and then an “F and ended with an “M” with an “I-R” inbetween; I’m just sayin’) but needless to say, those guys can’t park for shit. Bunch of stock Evo’s with dyno graphs. One guy had a license plate that said “STIKILA” or something and his homie, that was in the same crew as him, drove an STI! That’s “hella” stupid. SF was fun though in general, I liked it alot up there. Excuse me, I “hella” liked it alot. I got my purple shirt, balls tight jeans, and white shades ready for 09….hella.
Big props to Ernesto Jr. for putting this thing together though. We will definitely be there to show our support.
ASM Tsukuba Special 2008 S2000….part 2…

Hopped on the ASM site and caught these new images of the Tsukuba Special S2k and thought I would share them with you guys. I guess more fine tuning has been done to prepare for the final run in December. I can’t read Japanese for the life of me so I’m just gonna show you the pics…

One thing that I did understand was that shakedown runs on the new Advan A050 tires yielded a time of 1:37 at Okayama International Circuit…

Such a crazy looking front end…

If you wanna try to decipher what they’re saying, feel free to head over to ASM’s official blog. It even has cool pictures of them eating fancy foods and stuff. Oh yeah, and they drink coffee and have cool haircuts and shit.
Honda FC Sport Hydrogen Concept…

Well as you all know, the L.A. Autoshow is this coming weekend and they’re gonna be unveiling alot of new stuff to the public. The women’s shaver you see on top is Honda’s FC Sport Hydrogen Concept car. With the FCX being the future of strange looking family sedans, the FC Sport is the hydrogen super car of the future. Am I not convincing enough? Well let this guy explain…

Honda FC Sport Design Study Suggests Hydrogen Sports Car Future
Innovative fuel cell packaging demonstrates green performance potential
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19, 2008 – Honda today revealed the Honda FC Sport design study model, a hydrogen-powered, three-seat sports car concept, at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The FC Sport emphasizes the design flexibility and potential of Honda’s V Flow fuel cell technology – already deployed in the Honda FCX Clarity sedan – and reconfigures it into a lightweight sports car design with an ultra-low center of gravity, powerful electric motor performance and zero-emissions. The design study concept is inspired by supercar levels of performance through low weight and a high-performance, electrically driven fuel cell powertrain.
“The Honda FC Sport explores how to satisfy automotive performance enthusiasts in a world beyond petroleum,” said Dan Bonawitz, vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “People who love sports cars will still have a reason to love in a hydrogen-powered future.”
The high-output Honda fuel cell powertrain and a sleek, aerodynamic body contribute to the vehicle’s performance potential. A modular approach to fuel cell component packaging and the electric drivetrain contribute to the FC Sport’s low center of gravity with the majority of vehicle mass distributed between the axles, creating the balanced weight distribution sought after in sports cars.

I’m gonna go check out the autoshow this week. I went last year but it was only for like an hour or so and they were closing up. I just remember trying to look at cars and people invading my personal space and putting their hands on everything. For some strange reason people love to touch things. Especially at car shows. You know when you go to Import Showoff or something and there’s always some douche that’s touching your car? Why do they do that? What does that accomplish really? So stupid…Oh man I’m going off into a tangent again. I’m tired…..Here’s more pics. Just go out to the L.A. Autoshow that’s happening this weekend all the way until Thanksgiving.

Looks like it can’t wait to shave some leg hair….
Jailbreak at the Honda Asylum Part 2…
Well if you caught my post yesterday, you’ll know exactly how I feel about this whole Honda-Tech situation and how everyone just needs to get over it. The fact of the matter is that Honda-Tech doesn’t give a shit about their users or loyal followers. I caught this post in a thread on NWP4Life.com from user “YellowKahuna” and he basically reaffirms what I have said:
I have a friend who works at Internet Brands and they are not going to change it for shit. What I have come to find out is:
IB bought the vB for millions and is installing all of the forums they own with it. They don’t give a rats ass about the users only the money they make from the Advertisments. They will only look to buy forums with large amounts of Traffic so that they can make advertisement dollars off of the site.
They are looking to buy VWVortex next.
Corporate forum boards  Suck ASS.
The only way to hurt them is to not get back on HT, to slow traffic on HT.

Hmm…Where is your Honda-Tech now?
JTuned meet this weekend! Chance of no fire…entirely possible!

I remember my first JTuned meet. I think it was back in 2005 when they had the green JTuned meet stickers. It was raining like crazy that day and my homie Kevin and I made the trek from San Diego to go to the meet. You know what I learned that day? Drivin in the pouring rain on Yokohama Paradas is a terrible idea.
Actually I still have a pic from that event….”Coke in a Can” took this pic and it was probably the only pic of my car from that day…and it’s actually one of my favorite shots of all time.

Anyways, even though it was raining like crazy that day, the meet was still jam-packed with cars. The lot was filled, and it was a huge lot. If I remember correctly, it was at the Irwindale Speedway parking-lot. But man JTuned was so hyped and popular back then that people didn’t care about the weather and still came out to show support. Not only that, they even had all the cars featured on JTuned displayed that day out in the rain! It was a pretty cool meet.
Well a couple years have gone by and JTuned actually disappeared for awhile but now it looks like they’re shooting for a huge comeback. And their first attempt at getting reacquainted with the import scene is putting this meet together. I didn’t really see it advertised at that many forums but then again I only look at so many of them. Hopefully they put alot of backing into pushing this event. If it’s anything like the ones they used to put together, then it’s bound to be a good one.
Lisa Fleming will be there too and you can stand next to her while she smokes a cigarette….. What? I’m just sayin’….
Jailbreak at the Honda Asylum…

You ever had a semi-hot chick who was a friend of your’s and she had spent the last 5 years saving up for a tit job? Well it all sounds good on paper and you’re somewhat excited about it. Then she shows up one day out of nowhere and she flashes you, and her nipples are so far apart that they have east and west coast beef. Of course, her tits weren’t so bad in the beginning….they were relatively simple and easy to navigate around but now you find yourself angry because you know the change is permanent. No matter how much shit you talk about them to your friends, her tits will never ever be the same again….Sure you’ll get used to them eventually but a botched-tit job is a botched-tit job. If you ever thought about being able to motorboat them, you can’t because one nipple will be in your eye and the other will be tickling your chin. There’s nothing positive you can possibly think would come of the change…
Oh, well get this…In totally unrelated news, Honda-Tech switched over to vBB-format this past weekend. And it…is…fucked.

I don’t really think it has anything to do with the vBB stuff itself, I just think that it was better left untouched. Zero Forum was so much easier to navigate and with all the traffic it was generating, it was so easy to keep track of your watched topics and keep up with your fellow HT-er’s. Switching over to vBB just makes it look like Honda Society or any other board on the net. On top of that people lost all their saved PM’s, contacts, avatars, watched threads, etc. And if your thread was lucky enough to be saved from the changeover, it was hacked to shit and pages and content were missing.
So what exactly happens an unwanted change occurs? People revolt. And I’m not gonna lie to you, there were alot of over-opinionated people on there that are just waiting to talk shit about anything, and those people WENT APESHITS. Of course one thread wasn’t enough, two definitely no, hell 45 threads weren’t enough, everyone that finally figured their way around the new vBB format made it known that it was a horrible idea. And also went on in typical H-T style and flooded every thread with useless rambling.
I could care less. And so should you. Let’s face it, Honda-Tech is not meant for “the people”. They don’t give a shit about you and you should give a shit less about them. Maybe back in the day they were about people and the Honda community but now it’s run by some corporate company that’s only concerned with making a dollar and generating some sort of traffic. You can bitch all you want, and things will never change.
I remember I posted a thread about this site a couple weeks back and the admin immediately removed it from the forums. They PM’ed me to inform me that it was “in direct competition with the forums”. Direct competition? What the fuck? First of all it’s a blog site about what I think and see. “I” as in one individual (Who happens to be quite good-looking I might add). There’s no discussion going on here besides the voices in my head. I’m not making any money from this. The forum that’s supposed to be for the people and for Honda-enthusiasts took my thread down because I couldn’t tell people about something I was working on that was clearly Honda-related.
I joined Honda-Tech back in 2002 because I knew nothing about Honda’s and was doing my first swap in one. It is now 2008. I still know nothing about Honda’s. Haha…I must admit that I do give H-T some credit; I was able to get noticed by Honda Tuning Magazine cuz of some pics I posted and it eventually landed me a feature. But that was a long time ago and that place has been taking a nose-dive down the drain for awhile now. The only people that really are hurt by this are the guys that have been there since the beginning and anything nostalgic about that place is long gone. Its like being in a relationship too long when you know that you need to end it, but the only reason you stick around is for the memories. Just break it off and let that shit go. Move on.
“The Chronicles…” stickers available!….

If you’re one of the 3 people besides my mom that reads this blog and would like to rep “The Chronicles…”, hit me up! I had a batch made and they’re available if you wanna rock one. Everybody likes stickers, you can even angle them. Honda Tuning Magazine celebrity Ojay Bayang has one on his Element, and of course he angled it, that’s the only way you can read it correctly. But seriously, he only has it there because the rest of his window is filled with stickers of all the crews that he’s in.
They stickers only come in one color, black on chrome. I would have made different colors but I don’t have money to do that.

An Ashy Day at the Norm Reeves 2008 Car Show…

The Phaze2XDoods! fam bam and I headed out to check out the 3rd annual Norm Reeves Honda Superstore Car Show in Cerritos and it was a very ashy day as expected due to the crazy ass fires that have been going on through out socal…

This was basically what the sky looked like throughout the day, everything just looked very eerie…

A bunch of us had our painter’s masks or whatever we could find to keep from inhaling the giant strands of ash falling from the sky…Leave it to the hardcore Honda-heads to come out to an event when we’re in a state of emergency…

As you can see the ash was everywhere. It was hard to keep a car clean for more than 5 min at a time…

Like last year there was a big presence of old school classic Honda vehicles. The majority of the Honda N/Z cars were all in mint condition and the owners seem like a very tight group of people. They are not “CVCC’s” okay? I hear people saying that all the time. The CVCC’s are later model Honda’s. There was one there but all I hear are people saying: “Oh cool, CVCC’s!”.

One of the first things that caught my eye was this Odyssey when it was making it’s way into the event. The owner is like a older filipino dad and he brought like his whole family out. Like a horde of kids came out of there…haha. Unique to say the least, even had the “Lagreat” badge in the rear…

I see this S2000 at a majority of the events I go to and I stop to stare at it every single time. It’s executed beautifully. You know how there are some people out there that just buy a bunch of expensive shit and throw it on a car? Well this isn’t one of them. The owner took his time and put this thing together perfectly. It wins like at every event too and it’s very deserving…

Another guy I regularly run into is Nasif and his 8th gen. Civic. He always manages to come out with something new. This time he rolled out with some concave mag-blue TE37′s up front. 17×9 with offsets in the 30′s if I remember correctly. I wish I would have remembered but I have hearing problems and the memory of an old lady. Nasif’s Civic is crazy though. So unassuming cuz of it’s white exterior but if you look closer there isn’t a part of this thing that hasn’t been modified in some way…

I ran into Big Mike aka Big Mitch with his big ass jug of water and his Prelude. Rumor has it that Big Mike started the fires just so he could be cool and wear a bandana over his face and have an excuse to not wash his car…

Here’s Big Mitch’s polished Volk AV3′s. If you tell them they’re Konig’s he’ll take you out to sushi and not pay for it. Notice the chrome NSX calipers….

Bisi Ezerioha was out hanging out with everyone and brought out his drag Insight. Man, I wish I could be sponsored by Outback Steakhouse. Wonder what that sponsorship includes…

The good people over at Norm Reeves was also kind enough to cook and hand out free burgers and hot dogs for the crowd that came out to support the event even with all the fires going on…

They also gave out alot of free stuff too. On a sidenote, this guy who I will deem “Super Saiyan Goku” also made an appearance…

Salem and his Honda Tuning cover TSX was right up front for everyone to see. I didn’t really mess with the colors in this pic so you guys can see what it really looked like throughout the day. It literally looked like someone was shining a huge orange spotlight over the entire event…

If Norm Reeves has anything that other shows don’t, they definitely attract all kinds of different Honda owners that add “variety” to the event….Yeah…
and the rest are just some other random images we caught while we were walking around…

Gotta represent! Haha…thanks to the homies for rockin’ the vinyl…
Wish we could have taken more pics/better pics but the sky made everything hard to shoot…
Spoon NSX-R GT crashes in Macau…

I’m sure everyone is aware of the recently completed Spoon NSX-R GT. If not I posted a video and finished pics of it a couple posts back. Well I guess the president of Spoon, Tatsuru Ichishima, took it to Macau for the Windsor Arch Macau Road Sport Challenge and crashed it during qualifying. He managed to qualify 9th overall but lost control during the final corner. No injuries for Ichishima but he’s hopeful to race in the finals if they can get the car back together….

FUBAR much? =P
Random snaps from the Super Lap Battle Finals…

Here’s some more quick shots of the event courtesy of “Stunna” Ben Howard…Thanks Ben.

Have a great weekend people….make sure to come check out the Norm Reeves event this Sunday at 10am….Come see some of the best Hondas Socal has to offer….Details are a couple posts down from this page. Red Bull drift event in Long Beach is happening this weekend too…
Sportcar Motion Sets Limited FF Record at Buttonwillow…
So i got word that the Sportcar Civic did pretty well at the Super Lap Battle so I sent a text to Loi to see what was goin on…

Sup doggie did you break the record?
A couple seconds later…
From: Loi
We crushed it doggie by 3 seconds LOL.
Nov. 13, 1:34 pm
……and so….

Big congrats go out to Loi Song and Sportcar Motion for setting the Limited FF record at the Super Lap Battle 2008 event this week. With Tim Kuo behind the wheel, the Sportcar EG was able to pull a time of 1:55.948 to become the new Limited FF class record holder…

…You’ll notice that also on that list is Tage Evanson who was the record holder from the year before. His time was pretty impressive also considering last years record was a 1:58. That speaks volumes because Sportcar’s time shatters the previous record by 3 seconds!…

Probably could have ran like a 1:45.88889 lap time without the RG’s on there…haha….at least Loi put them to use…When I had them all I did was paint the valve stem cap blue…hell yeah…that’s right…haha…

Gotta love the Sportcar Motion Super Wood Splitter up front…haha, say what you will about it, that bitch works…Alright I’ll stop talking, on with the pics….

Congrats again to Loi and the rest of the Sportcar Motion crew!!

Hondas at the Nov. Super Lap Battle…Part 2…

Here’s some more shots from Speedhunters of the Super Lap Battle Finals from yesterday….Alot of Hondas were present at this event…I’m sure you recognize the CRX above. It’s been all over the place and is a true beast with that K-swap in there….

Factor X NSX…Will probably be around longer than Cricket Wireless…haha…Nice paint scheme though…

Always good to see EF’s especially at a time attack event. It’s awesome that shops and other enthusiasts still have interest in modding this chassis…

Yoshioka-piloted S2000…
I also just got word from Loi Song that the Sportcar Motion Honda Civic broke the all-time lap record at Buttonwillow CCW13 outrunning the previous laptime by 3 seconds! That’s crazy! More details to come…
Hondas at the Nov. Super Lap Battle…

Found some pics over at Speed Hunters of the Super Lap Battle that’s going on this week. Here’s my doggie Loi and Sportcar Motion with their hatch on hand and Tim Kuo behind the wheel. I also see my old Advan RG’s on there that Loi was supposedly selling to my friend. Hopefully he doesn’t see these pics…haha. Guess the hatch is so fast that he can get away with putting some heavy ass wheels on there….I love the RG’s, they’ve always been one of my faves but they weren’t exactly the lightest wheels I’ve ever had. I think if I threw it hard enough at someone they would probably die…..yeah, die. The Regamasters that I got in the trade for the RG’s on the otherhand, well, I could take a shit heavier than those things and I’m a light eater. You remember that old discount tire commercial where that old lady threw that tire threw the window and it was all cool. Well if she had tossed the RG, she would have threw her back out and been paralyzed and the whole building would have collapsed. They look great though. Such a classic wheel.

…Also saw this pic of the N1 Concepts S2000 ou there. Looks like it’s ready to tear it up, vinyl headlights and all….

The C-West/BC S2000 was also there sporting wider tires and aero and also more power. Can’t wait to see more pics of this thing….
More over at Speed Hunters
Uhh…crazy much?

I caught this thread on HT about a guy who’s planning on making a mid-engine K20/K24 hybrid…hmm…yeah sounds crazy enough. But there’s also a mid-engine H22 Integra out there also, so if you compare it to that, it’s not really that far-fetched. If he can pull it off, it would be a hell of a job…and by the looks of the pics, it looks promising.

Engine is gonna be a K20/K24 hybrid with 6-speed Type-S tranny, custom fabricated rear frame/unibody, and EP3 subframe….
I’ll try to keep you guys updated as he furthers the build….definitely one to keep an eye on….
J’s Racing TSX (CL9) front part 2…

I accidently stumbled onto a thread over on Acurazine about the prototype J’s Racing CL9 front bumper and alot of the people (as expected) were complaining about the look of it and how the grille looks funny. People generally love to complain about stuff so I guess J’s caught wind of this thread and decided to make TSX fanboys happy by modifying the grille…..or maybe the Acura emblem just fell off…haha…
Previous pic…

I mean if it really bothers you that much, just have the bodyshop cut the grille off….Or don’t buy it? Possibly?
Clutchmasters 9-Sec. Drag Integra blows rear end

Don’t get too excited…there really isn’t any blowing of rear ends like the ones you normally see. Here’s a vid of the Yoparts.com/Clutchmasters Drag Integra misshifting from 2nd to 1st. The results will speak for themselves. You know how some guys on bikes do wheelies and stoppies when they’re doing their tricks on the freeway for no reason? Well the Integra does a hell of a stoppie… =X
Here’s a link to the same run from a different perspective. This one includes some spectacular commentary and kids yelling profanities….”OOOOHHH HEEELLLL YEEEAAA!!!” Super Douchebaggery…AWAY!!!
What’s going on this week you ask?

What’s going on you ask? Uhh..Only the 3rd Annual Norm Reeves Car Show! And it’s free! How do I know that? Cuz I looked at the flyer and read the big letters…I went last year and it was a pretty cool show. It doesn’t go on for like 12 hours and it’s a relatively smaller show. Plus the weather won’t be disgusting like it has been the past month. I’ll definitely be there as well as the rest of the PhazexDoods! fam bam…In all our Honda Tuning-featured glory…haha. Defintely mark your calenders for Sunday and try to wake up and peep this event. If you don’t like me you can come by and talk to me and I’ll reply in a condesending manner…but that hardly ever happens. Oh there’s gonna be free food too, can’t argue with that! Oh and it’s this coming Sunday the 16th if I didn’t mention….Damn I can’t wait until Street Fighter 4 comes out, wait what…okay that’s it.
