Top 10 favorites of 2008…Part 2…

Hope you guys enjoyed the first 5. I didn’t see too many objections with it so I guess I must be doing something right…Anyways, on with the list…

5. HeyMikeyyyy’s Integra…

Why it made the list: 7+ years in the making, one of the most recognized personalities on any Honda messageboard finally landed in print. I remember the first time I met Mikey and he asked me what he had to do to get a feature. This was long before I knew anything about the industry and I told him he had to figure out the mess that was going on in his engine bay. Man, I had no idea he was gonna do what he did. The gold bay came out ridiculously sick and made his Integra stand out more than ever. I had the pleasure of going to the shoot that ended up in Honda Tuning magazine and I was very proud to see this car get the recognition that it deserved. People often mistaken Mikey’s jokes on the internet as truth and mark him down as a cocky son of a bitch but he’s actually one of the most humble people I’ve ever met. Big up to Mikey for continuing to grind and not stop once he hit his goal. Look out for this thing in 2009, definitely gonna have more crazy shit for people to gawk at…

4. Chase McMaster’s K’d and tucked CRX…

Why it made the list: Simply because this guy is living the American dream. Kid from Alabama with loads of talent in wiring picks up his stuff and moves out to California basically on a whim, and uses his talents to make himself a household name in the cutthroat Socal import scene. What more can you ask for? Oh yeah, and he had time to build himself a CR-X too. Did I forget to mention that it ended up on the cover of Honda Tuning magazine? This guy is prove positive that life is all about taking big chances. I enjoyed following his build from start to finish and the end results speak for themselves.

3. Loi Song and Sportcar Motion’s record-breaking time attack Civic…

Why it made the list: Really? Do I have to remind you guys that this hatch broke the Limited FF record at the Super Lap Battle Finals? Anything Honda that Loi Song touches turns to gold and this hatchback is just a sign of things to come for Sportcar Motion. Piloted by Tim Kuo, this Civic (Wood front splitter and all) was able to run a best lap time of 1:55.948, shattering the previous record by 3 seconds! Sure it’s not the prettiest of the bunch, but it’s full function.

2. Salem’s Acura TSX…

Why it made the list: Because it’s the nicest Accord to make the cover of a magazine since the last one that did…*cough*the green one*ahem*…haha. But in all seriousness, I remember the first time I saw this TSX in person. It was at the J’s Gathering show in Norcal from the beginning of the year. Back at that time, he didn’t have as much stuff as it does now. The guy that was driving it looked so fuckin angry. I don’t know why. Turns out that it’s just Salem and that’s his general facial expression. Some of you may feel that this is really high on the list being at #2, but consider this: This TSX literally came out of nowhere. In a little to no time, Salem was able to put this TSX together and it immediately got noticed. In a community so bombarded with Civics and Integras, it’s a breath of fresh air to see this car getting recognized. It landed on the cover of Honda Tuning magazine and it’s nowhere near completion. Salem’s TSX is a staple in the game and will continue to be a major player in 2009.

So who’s number 1 on the list? Well, you’re just gonna have to stay tuned for the grand reveal….What better time to reveal the #1 Honda of 2008 than on the 1st of the new year?…..

Top 10 favorites of 2008…Part 1…

With the year coming to a close, I think it’s time to give mention to some of the top builds of 2008. Let me begin by saying that this is my personal list of favorites. You may not agree with me on any level but that’s the beauty of running my own site. If you have your own personal list, please feel free to post it up on your own site, or hell, even leave a response with your own list. I based this list on the cars that caught my eye the most, made the most appearances/seen alot on the interwebs, and/or made an impact on the Honda community in 2008. There are a couple cars that didn’t make the list that definitely deserve an honorable mention and I will do that once the top 10 have been revealed. Is there a bias? Uhh yeah. Cuz I’m compiling the list in my own mind. Even with all the different voices in my head, we’ve all managed to agree on this list. East/West coast bias? Hmm, maybe. But that’s most likely because I am more familiar with the cars out west here. There are a couple east coast cars that I wrote down, I just didn’t feel like they were ahead of the 10 I have….Oh well let the controversy begin….

10. Son’s EK from Hasback…

Why it made the list: I’ll be honest, I was a little iffy about this selection. Definitely no knock on Son, but I’m not sure if he was even finished with the build. He’s constantly changing things and this build probably isn’t even complete. It made the list because Son is responsible for shooting some of the finest Honda’s in Socal and finally seeing the man behind the camera build another Honda is a welcome sight. His previous cars were impressive and this one is no different. All the little touches here and there really make the build stand out and the accents definitely show that it’s Son’s personal touch. The two-toned bay flows with the rest of the hatch very well and I personally loved the way it looked on the GAB wheels…

9. Danville’s flared EK…

Why it made the list: Just look at it. When this thing came out, people definitely noticed. It may not really be everyone’s cup of tea but you can’t deny it’s presence. It kinda kicks you in the mouth at first glance. Like you think you’re looking at something you’ve seen before, but there are so many things about it that just make you look again. The BYS front with the front fender flares and splitters makes for a menancing look. Not to mention the K-swap and 17-inch Mugen MF10L’s. I don’t expect to see it tearing through the track anytime soon but it looks menacing enough….When people saw pics of it on the net, the most likely reaction was an “oh fuck”…whether it was a good fuck or not is left to the eye of the beholder….

8. Alex Doan’s Spoon S2000…

Why it made the list: Cuz this car is badass. Not only do I see it basically every event I go to, I almost always stop by to take another look at it. The wheels, all the Spoon gear, looks like something you would see as if it came from Spoon Sports directly. It’s like one of Spoon’s demo cars minus the yellow and blue scheme. I absolutely love this S2000. I don’t ever recall meeting the owner but big congrats on building a great S2k and getting recognized for it in Super Street magazine…

7. Yee Vang aka yee SERIOUS’ EK hatch.

Why it made the list: When I first found out that Neema Tabrizi had sold his hatchback a while back, I thought the new owner was probably gonna fuck the car up and we would never hear from it again. Boy was I wrong. Yee Vang ended up with the hatch and he took Neema’s EK and made it his own. Just the sheer number of “what bumper is that?” questions would have qualified him for this list because of the hype it created. The J-Blood front bumper is pretty rare and gives Yee’s EK a really unique look. It’s pretty crazy to think that this guy actually drove his car all the way down to Socal from Seattle just to do Nisei Import Showoff. Now that’s dedication…

6. Big Mike’s Prelude…

Why it made the list: At the beginning of the year, I didn’t really know Big Mike too well. By the end of this year, I wish he would shut up for once and let me get a word in. Haha, I might be kidding but anyway. Big Mike’s Prelude makes the list because it’s probably the most significant BB4 build since Aries Dionisio’s. With Aries nowhere to be found Big Mike took the Prelude throne this year and gave us his perspective of how a Prelude should be built. And it’s defintely worthy of the crown. I had the pleasure of writing the feature on this ‘lude and I learned alot about it. It went from a being a lawn decoration to the cover of Honda Tuning magazine. If that doesn’t say alot about Big Mike’s ability and vision, I don’t know what will. It’s “period perfect”, just as Big Mike intended it to be…From the 90′s to now and even in the future, this BB4 is timeless…

Like what you see so far? No? Well go make a sandwich for yourself, try to eat it without sobbing, and then sleep it off and come back tomorrow for the top 5…

Random mid-day rant..errr…editorial…

So I was bored and looked at my site stats and how the numbers have been doing. Well the great thing about WordPress (The site that runs what you’re looking at now) is that they link you back to wherever people came from. So if you happen to be at Hustler.com and think about me or find a link on there that leads you over here, I will see it. Well when I was perusing the links, it linked me back to a thread on CB7Tuner.com about Honda Tuning magazine and how they once featured my Accord but haven’t done another one since. Then of course, disagreements ensue and people try to state their own ideas of why there aren’t enough Accords in Honda Tuning magazine. I have nothing better to do so of course I responded. I can offer a different perspective because, well, I work in the magazine industry. I use the term “work” loosely of course….

The following is what I posted…. (Note: My views in no way reflect those of Honda Tuning magazine, Source Interlink, or anything of the sort. This is purely my opinion and my rambling….)

When I got my feature, it was out of the blue and even I wondered why I was getting a feature because my Accord at the time was nowhere near completion. What they saw was an all-around build. I covered all facets I guess you can say. Engine, suspension, wheels, body, everything was basically covered. And in a tasteful way. When people on here and at meets have asked me how to get featured before, I’ve told them the same thing. You need something that’s complete. You have to cover every end of it. Are there cars on here that are nice? Definitely. I’ve been keeping an eye on this platform even after I sold my car. Are these cars worthy of a feature? Well, yes and no. Some guys have alot of work done in one area, but they don’t do anything else. You can have a big turbo set-up with an H22 swap that makes big power. That’s good. But what about the body? Alot of the times guys on here don’t have that kind of money or attention to detail. They can make big power but the paint is old or the body has imperfections. It’s a certainly a nice car yes, but it’s not gonna look good in print. If you opened up a magazine and saw a car that was not done, you would be unhappy about it too. It doesn’t matter what platform it is. You can have a car that has all the “JDM goodies” on the outside and it looks nice, but then you look at engine bay and the engine is stock and the bay isn’t even painted the same color or is filthy. That won’t get a feature either.

The fact of the matter is if you have a nice car, Accord or not, and it’s worthy of a feature, someone will see it. And word of mouth will spread until it gets to the right people. Either that or you show up to events and you get noticed on your own. The east coast/west coast factor is kinda BS. How do I know this? Because almost half of the features that I have written for Honda Tuning are based in the east coast or outside of California. You just happen to see more west coast cars because you’ve already seen them on the internet and you recognize them when you see them in print. Of course west coast cars are more accessible to us because yes, we are based out here. But that doesn’t mean we don’t feature east coast cars. At the end of the day, a great build is a great build. It will get noticed. I don’t know if any of you have noticed but the economy is shit right now. And it reflects on the magazine industry also. In the past couple months, 3 major magazines have hit the can. And it’s not like we make that much anyways. It’s a real risk for us to go all over the country looking for cars that might not pan out, while in California, there are plenty (PLENTY) of cars that are feature worthy.

The bottom line is that if you build your car right and it’s an all around great build, it will get noticed. It’s unfortunate that the Accord/Prelude scene is a niche market. There just aren’t that many people that follow them that closely. Think of it this way. Look at Playboy magazine. They put girls in that mag that are all-around hot. Like they look good and have all facets covered, nice face, great rack, nice booty, etc. Everyone likes an all-around hot chick. You, you like asses and don’t care for the rest so you complain that the magazine doesn’t have enough girls that just have nice asses. Guess what? Not everyone is just looking at just asses. The majority like chicks that are pretty much all around hot. Just asses and nothing else is a niche market. It just wouldn’t sell as many magazines if Playboy was just asses. For every 1 guy that likes just asses, there are a ton of people who buy the magazine and want to look at hot chicks. No one is saying that just asses isn’t hot, but all around hot is what everyone wants to see. Sure you can start a magazine of just asses (SSX Magazine =P) but it wouldn’t make anywhere near as much money as Playboy. Why look at a magazine with just asses when you can look at a magazine with great face, nice rack, AND a nice ass…..get it?

Ya dig?…..

A Nostalgic Moment….Kash Singh’s Widebody Accord…

Does anyone out there actually remember this car? Man I tell ya, I used to be such a huge fan of Accords back in the day cuz I always wanted one and this car was one of the ones that always caught my eye. I remember back in 99-2000, this was one of the wildest Hondas around in the show scene and it used to win all kinds of awards. As much as I looked at it I was looking through my old photo album and was only able to find one pic that I took. I didn’t feel like scanning it so I took a pic of a pic with my cell phone and this was Singh’s Accord when it was in it’s polk-a-dot stage. I think he went with this look after his car was featured in Import Tuner magazine….

..Excuse the terrible pic. Sorry but you can not imagine how difficult it was to find anything on this Accord nowadays on the internet. It was harder to find then Erica Lam’s Accord. Anyways, I remember a bit of the back story on this car. It was done by Kash Singh and his brother and I remember his brother also had a showcar. All the bodywork was done by the two in the backyard or something and it was all completely sheetmetal. They also were able to paint the car all the time and change the look because their family owned a chain of One Day Paint businesses. This thing always stood out because it was so damn wide and people at that time had never seen an Accord with so much bodywork done to it. What was really cool was that it Singh was one of the first guys to have custom-sized/fit wheels at the time. Those wheels may be hard to recognize but they’re actually the first generation 5Zigen Heidfeld’s. Not the current ones that look like shit but the ones that were made back in the day and were 3-piece wheels. I also remember that their wasn’t much engine work done to it and I don’t even recall ever seeing the bay. I think when it was featured it still had a F22 engine that was dressed up with chrome and wire looms or some junk. Still though, it was a show car and never meant for any kind of serious speed so whatever. I can just imagine how heavy it would be though with all that sheetmetal and that gigantic ass APR wing in the back. Yikes. Also note the USDM Integra front-end conversion….definitely a unique choice for a conversion.

I thought about this car because I was glancing at Jspek.com the other day and remembered that I saw this car pop up somewhere in Texas around 2006. From what I remember the car was originally from Socal. Guess Singh packed up his Accord and moved down there. Mind you the car was featured in the early 2000′s and even the pic you see up top that I took was from Oct. 2000. So for the car to still exist and actually still be in one-piece was pretty crazy. Here are the images that I saw when I was looking at some HIN coverage from ’06…

..Pretty wild ain’t it? Most of the showcars you see from back in the day are long gone and parted out or left for dead somewhere in their parents driveway. This guy was still driving his Accord around 5 years after! I don’t know if it’s still around nowadays but if you know the guy personally or have seen it, definitely let me know. I’m interested to find out what happened to this thing. It’s funny to see that it was relatively unchanged too besides the color. Same wheels, same bodywork, same exhaust, everything. That’s crazy. Only significant change looks to be the removal of that huge ass wing with what looks like a Bomex wing or Prelude Mugen-style wing. Who knows, maybe this car is still around and tucked away in some garage in pristine condition like LJ Garcia’s Feel’s hatchback. Yeah, that car still exists too…

Highlights from HIN Miami…

I wasn’t actually in Miami for HIN of course so I grabbed these photos from Urbanracer.com. If I had the money to go to Miami and attend a HIN show, the pictures would have turned out horrible. They would have been dark, foggy, and blurry. That’s just my style of photography. Anyways, I hope everyone had a great Christmas and this is my present to you. Pics of HIN that I found while I was bored earlier tonight. Just think of it as the bundle of socks you always wanted instead of the PS3 you were asking for. I assure you I would have updated with some content yesterday but despite my boyish good looks, I am not superhuman and have to celebrate Christmas with my family like the rest of the world. Besides the internet at my parents house wasn’t working so I couldn’t even sneak away to look at dirty pictures while everyone was opening presents…..

…The first car I spotted was this EK. This hatch is fuckin’ BAD. Oh my damn, I usually see this car pop up on HT in the low offset thread but I’ve never ever had a chance to see the rest of it. I thought it was just a regular hatch with CCW’s on it but then I saw this…

…No stock d-series laying underneath this hood….bay is all cleaned up and i love the polished and purple combination. Would be even crazier if he shaved that valve cover and had it powder-coated the same purple as the rest of the parts….

…Love the stance and the wheels of course. Interior is cleannnn….I love Bride-themed interiors. Reminds me of my old car….I actually just recently completed a feature for another Florida-based Honda and I was just thinking about how underrated Florida is when it comes to Hondas. Definitely a sleeper state. Kinda along the lines of Washington but with less gloomy rain and shit…

…Here’s a DC5 from Team Emotion. I see this car pop up every now and then and of course the color is very nice. I don’t know if the owner can actually drive the car anywhere with how bright it is but it definitely makes for a beautiful display vehicle…

…He’s got a real nice theme going. Even though everything is very bright and sharp on the eyes, it all flows together nicely. Great execution…

I saw this Fit and was like “oh cool, a VIP-themed Fit”. Well I didn’t actually say that as much as I thought it, but man, this thing would look really good dumped on air….Then I clicked on the next picture and saw the front…

…which looks like this…but then I saw this…

…Uh, what just happened here.  It’s VIP-themed on the outside and then there’s like trunk brace, and then a wooden table of some sort, and a nitrous bottle. And then the headrests in the back are missing. Am I nitpicking? Everything looked good on the outside and then I see the trunk and it just throws everything off. I mean I guess the bottle would have been fine if the trunk was set-up correctly instead of laying it on top of a board….Kinda reminds me of that one Scion xA that Jade crew did for the challenge a couple years back. It was “VIP-style” but then it had like a green rollcage or some shit on it, and a kitsuna, and then some Junction Produce Scaras on it…..oh and it was gutted. Just didn’t flow at all. I asked them about it on the Jspek website and one of the guys went on about how they wanted to show every tuning option possible for that car….which I understand, but still, it helps to have a central theme right? Instead of getting every expensive thing possible and throwing it on the car…

…Speaking of which…What happened here? I love Equips but not these particular ones with that car. It doesn’t look very good. When I imagine Spoon fenders and rear over-fenders, I just don’t picture these wheels on there. I understand the concept of being different, but bad wheel choice is bad wheel choice. You may bring up the argument that they would look better in a lower offset but still, they just don’t belong on an S2000…..

Even at different angles….ehhhhh…Props for trying it though. I guess we woulda never known what it would have looked like…

Another thing I noticed on the east coast is that they’re still using huge ass wheels. I didn’t even know they made fuckin’ 22-inch Work Emotions…shit is crazy looking. The concave Advans on the DC5 don’t look too bad but still those things are gigantic. Even with the other non-honda’s, their wheels are huge. There’s an Evo on there with 24-inch Takata green TE37′s …  Look at the 2JZ-powered S2000 I posted the day before…you see those titanium-finish Volks on there? Yup, 28×12 +15 offset…..335/60-R28 tires….

2jz-powered S2000…

Oh the controversy….This is gonna start some shit right? Let’s face it, S2k owners love their cars. They treat their S2k’s like they’re ferrari’s or something and doing anything outside the box would be considered sacrilege. If you do something different you’re looked at like the fat dirty kid in school and everyone will pee on you in the gym showers. Above of course, is what Honda S2000-purists would consider “unholy”….Before I begin…Can I please get two broads to pose in front of this S2k and look terribly unhappy in an effort to try and look sexy?…

…Thank you. Moving on….the fact that anyone would pull the F20C out and drop in a Toyota engine should be burned at the stake! At least that’s what those purists would want you to believe. On paper, it sounds like a terrific idea to take the heart of a Supra out and put it in a lighter, smaller body. The problem is people would rather judge the car based on it’s non-Honda powerplant rather than focus on the labor that was involved in completing such a feat….

…Why would someone do such a thing to a perfectly normal S2000? Well because they can. In an industry so littered with in-the-box thinking, only the creative can provide the means to promote progression. It’s easy to see why someone would try and do this swap. 2jz-gte’s have always been known to make great reliable power. Sure you might be able to get an F20c to make similar power, but I wouldn’t bet on the idea of you driving it around and honestly believing it’ll hold up safely. This particular S2000 makes a little over 500hp, so despite it’s showy appearance, the numbers speak for themselves….Not only is the motor built, it also has a GT45r turbo and Ford rear-end to hold all that power….

…I don’t have a problem with the swap at all. The exterior on the other hand, leaves a little more to be desired. The Tracy Sports widebody is nice, but the sizing of the wheels just makes the entire car look goofy. I assume they need the meaty tires because of the numbers it makes but the outside resembles one of those Jadatoys scale model cars….It’s a bit cartoony….

…Oh well, in the end it’s a very nicely built car. Even if you don’t like the fact that the engine has been swapped, you gotta at least respect the work that was done to get it running. They say: “if you’ve never been criticized, then you probably haven’t done much with your life.” That’s definitely true in this scenerio….

Oh one more thing….Happy holidays everybody….have a good one.

Power Honda Peformance Grand Opening…

Head over to the Power Honda Performance meet this past Sunday. I’ll be honest, we showed up a little late because I was busy watching the Charger game and we still had to eat lunch afterwards. Then we kinda got screwed on the directions and ended up getting lost. There was still a pretty decent crowd by the time we arrived though….

Everybody was busy watching Leon take pics of the same girl that was at the last Streetlightz meet so we proceeded to walk around them to glance at the cars that remained….

…One of the first guys I ran into was Blackpie. I don’t know why we call him Blackpie. It was never really adressed but he seems to like it so I’m not gonna argue with him. He entertained me with Christmas gift ideas for his parents while I was busy gawking at…

…this EF sedan. I remember seeing his thread on NWP about his BBS wheels and how he was redoing them but I never got to see them completed and on the car. I must say, this was probably my favorite car of the whole meet. Not to downplay any of the other cars but I hadn’t really ever seen this car before other than a few online pics here and there….

It is very well put together. The body was straight, paint was good, and interior looked clean and intact…

…The wheels really set this car off though. He did a great job of reassembling them. They look perfect on there. Last I saw he was trying to sell them though. I hope not cuz it fits this EF so well…

…I also saw this coupe which caught my eye back at the JTuned meet a month ago. Something about it reminds me of like one of those Hasemi 1/24 scale model cars. I don’t know why. Love the color combo though. Wonder what’s under the hood….

…Leon in the background working his magic again. Always expect some interesting stories from that guy…haha…

…Love the color on this S2000. Those RE30′s have to be the highest offset Volks I have ever seen though. Good lord. I think if I walked by it I might trip over the face of that wheel….haha…

…David was there, foggy headlight and all…

I took a couple other pics but we didn’t really stay too long. Oh I actually went inside the Power Honda Performance store too and there was some pretty good stuff in there. It’s not your run-of-the-mill dealer performance center with overpriced Kragen/Autozone shit. We probably stayed for a good 25 minutes or so and took off after that. Just stopped by to say what’s up to the homies and then headed home to get some r&r….

Donut’s hatch fresh from Streets of Willow…

HBK Gabe….

Refreshing to see some REAL Gab’s for a change…I love Gab wheels….

Blackpie’s hardtop S2000…

Thanks for repping “The Chronicles…”!! Get at me for stickers if you’re down!…

Pubic…errr…public service announcment.

(This might be a bit NWS I guess…I don’t know, I don’t have a real job….trust me, it isn’t really…)

Quick, someone tell me what that front lip(s) is….haha. Zing! I’m still terribly busy so I got nothing much for you guys today. We (I) at stickydiljoe.com/The Chronicles just wanted to remind you to be a pervert today. Sometimes we spend so much of our time dealing with other stuff that we don’t find the time to bring out the pervert within. As a CR-X lover, who wouldn’t get a boner looking at that Leon’s Mugen-equipped CR-X? What the hell did you think I was talking about?

The Phaze2 DA also features fat lips…and it’s also sitting on Work XSA’s….The widebody Civic in the back is also very nice. Hey if you squint your eyes, those almost look like stickydiljoe.com hoodies.

But anyways, it’s good to be a pervert sometimes, especially on Monday’s, on the week of Christmas. Cuz you know at the end of the week, when you’re with your family, getting a giant erection is inappropriate. Also, when you stick your hand in your pocket to play it off like you’re not scratching your balls….it’s still ball scratching and it’s really obvious.

I really just wanted to make this post because I wanted to reuse the image below….I figure that if you’re gonna have the top two images in your work computer’s internet cache, you might as well include the image below to let your employer know exactly what those images are intended for. And if your boss approaches you and tells you a story about how Robocop can’t really engage in the act of fapping and how he sticks his dick in baby food, you let them know that this image is intended for comical response and not based on factual events.

Coverage of the Costa Mesa Power Honda Performance meet tomorrow, I just haven’t had time to do anything with the pics I took.

Spoon trio…

I got alot of stuff going on this weekend so I’ll leave you with this sick ass picture of some Spoon vehicles. I haven’t always been the biggest fan of Spoon just because I know of their history and how they came to fruition. I’m not exactly of fan of their business ethics but that has no bearing on how I feel about this picture. They have some really impressive cars and anything Spoon-related when it comes to S2000 always gets a thumbs-up from me. I’ve never seen their FD2 with that particular aero kit on it and it looks really aggressive and functional. The pic itself is cool cuz you don’t really see cars posing in some foggy ass park often. And when you do it would probably look like horse crap. I say horse crap because they’re in a field and during the daytime maybe they do have some horses there occassionally and they will take dumps on the grass. I’m just saying. The pic is a little eerie at the same time. Anytime I see Japanese and foggy fields I expect something horrendous to come out of a well or creepy children with white faces and black rings around their eyes. Scary.

Random Snaps…Sportcar Motion’s Drag KEG

I’m actually quite busy with prep for my friend’s wedding and all and other things so I’m gonna leave you with some shots of Loi Song’s K-powered hatchback that I was gonna post awhile back…Absolutely love 30′s offset GAB wheels on it. Probably one set of wheels I regret not getting back when I had a Honda…Oh if you’re wondering, it is the same hatch that I featured on here awhile back….Loi just continues to find new stuff to do to it….

2010 NSX Cancelled….

_

Holy shit, talk about terrible economic conditions affecting all aspects of life….

Honda CEO Takeo Fukui on Wednesday said his company has been forced to cancel the next-generation Acura NSX sports car due to poor economic conditions. The news came during a speech about the automaker’s revised financial forecast. Plans to bring the Acura brand to Japan have also been shelved permanently, the Nikkei news service has reported.

“The situation is worsening by the day, and there is no prospect for recovery, is our understanding,” Fukui told reporters.

The NSX was a much-anticipated V10-powered sports car in the late stages of development. Designed as a successor to the original model of the same name, the new NSX was slated to be launched as a 2010 model. The project was subject to multiple delays related to the vehicle’s exterior design, but those problems were recently overcome.

Fukui previously characterized the new NSX as “necessary for Honda.”

The company indicated its operating profits will be 180 billion yen ($2 billion), down 67 percent from the forecasted 550 billion yen. There’s even a chance, according to Reuters, the automaker will report a half-year operating loss — for the latter part of 2008. If that happens, it will be the the first time in at least 11 years. Also hurting the income forecast is the yen’s strength against the U.S. dollar, which further compounds the U.S. sales problem.

The debut of the Acura brand — originally U.S.-only — in Japan was originally planned for late 2008, but was recently delayed until 2010. Given the economic downturn, Honda said it decided to cancel the costly program all together.

Honda also announced it will cut production by 314,000 vehicles worldwide for the current fiscal year, according to Bloomberg. It also will eliminate about 1,200 temporary jobs in Japan. -www.leftlanenews.com

Man that’s worst news than that one time when I woke up and  my cat had left a dirty asshole stain on my bedsheets….Damn this sucks. Global economic turmoil is affecting everyone and everything possible. First Honda pulls out of F1 and Subaru pulls out of WRC, now this. Now I’ll never have the opportunity for a 40+ year-old man to pull up to me at a stoplight and rub his opulence in  my face. In all seriousness though I was really looking forward to this car coming out. Maybe someday I guess….

Speaking of bad news, I got hit on at a gas station today while I was buying an energy drink. Not hit on like truck stop bathroom stall kind of hit on, though in many ways eerily similar. I was standing in line and this fat mexican bitch walks up behind me. Mind you I’m only calling her a bitch because I don’t know her real name, but anyways. She starts talking about how cold it is outside and what not and then she goes: “Is that your Land Rover outside?” and gives me this creepy smile.

…. “No, I drive the beat-up 4Runner next to it….and no, that smell is not pheromones that are attracting you. I smell like steak because that’s what I ate for dinner.”

More Honda presence at the Rev Speed 2008 Tsukuba Super Battle…

In addition to the other two Hondas that were present at the Rev Speed Super Battle, a few others showed up and made appearances as well. Above of course is the Route-KS “Super Madonna” that I showed you guys a month ago. According to Speedhunters.com, The Madonna 999 ran a 1:00.460. Though it was almost under the 1-minute mark, track conditions likely caused it to run slower times than last year…

This silver S2000 belongs to Arvou Motor Sports Service. Arvou isn’t very well known in the states but they’re actually a pretty big tuning company overseas. They do stuff for not only Hondas, but also for RX-7′s, Nissans, etc. The AP1 above is naturally aspirated and ran a time of 1:02.911.

Seeker is also another one of those tuning companies that have yet to make it “big” stateside. I mean, people have heard of them but they don’t have that recognition over here like Spoon or J’s Racing among the common Honda crowd. The Seeker FD2 Type R ran a 1:07.072 with just basic bolt-ons.

Of course everyone knows the J’s Racing K-Series powered Honda Fit. I love the way this thing looks, the graphics on this Fit as well as their FD2 is badass. What’s even more badass is what’s it’s capable of on the track. This littler terror ran a best lap time of 1:00.836! The Route-KS NSX ran less than half a second faster than the Fit….that’s crazy….

That’s it for today, I got work this week and have features to write as well as finals at school. On top of that, I still gotta get ready for a wedding this weekend…..I’ll try to get more old school pics up as soon as I can…..

Streetlightz December BBQ…

So I had nothing major planned over the weekend and decided to go kick it with the homies over at the Streetlightz bbq meet. I didn’t take many pics because I had just driven back from San Diego that morning and I barely had enough time to catch the Charger game. As soon as the game ended I headed out to meet up with everyone. Unfortunately, alot of people I guess had left already since I didn’t really get there until like 2 pm. In any case, I got what I could….

…Norman and the guys at Streetlightz used the lot behind their building this time around and the lot was pretty huge. Even though it was late, there were still a bunch of people there. I guess they managed to get some models out there to pose and get pictures taken of them and what not. It’s a little weird to be seeing girls modeling at a car meet but it was an interesting sight. I didn’t take pics of the girls because I had a small point and shoot and 1: I don’t really take pics of girls modeling to begin with, and 2: I didn’t have any other cameras so I used my mom’s and she already thinks I’m perverted enough as is minus the creepy upskirt shots….

…Leon Casino was there of course and doing his usual thing with the ladies. This guy has the best stories ever. Like Penthouse Forum like stories. Haha…if you happen to run into him, try to get some stories outta this guy, I guarantee you will be entertained. And/or feel like you need a shower after….I can’t really show you all the detail in the pic that I took because I was like 40 feet away, but my eyes spied some pootang pie….And by “poontang pie”, I mean “lips”, and by “lips” I mean “Honda Civic”, and by “Honda Civic”, I mean “I could practically see waht she had for lunch”…..huh?…

…I’m sure the ladies were thoroughly impressed by this tape job. What’s worse than putting a penis on your door? A small penis. That also leaks apparently….I think that if you’re gonna throw a penis on the side of your car, you might as well go all out. I woulda went with something more along these lines….

…Just go for broke and offend the shit out of everyone, throw a chick’s face in there with a little bit of spray…why not….

…One of the first cars that caught my eye there was this 4-door Integra. I remember seeing this car before down in SD when I used to live down there and it turns out that it belongs to Rex, who happens to be good friends with Ralph, aka the wheel man. Ralph brought this car up for the old skool wheel meet that had happened the day before but didn’t get a chance to get the car out there. So he decided to come out to the Streetlightz meet to represent….

…This is just a small sample of the type of wheels that Ralph aka Opposum Jenkins collects and sells. This guy can practically get any WHEEL you want. If he can’t find it, odds are they’re not in the realm of possibility to acquire….

…The last time I showed you pics of Arnel’s hatch the hood had barely been stripped down. Well now you can finally see how it looks fully rusted. Yeah, some hate it, some love it, whatever….Don’t let it consume your life…

…I also finally got a chance to get an upclose look at this Civic Si coupe that belongs to Gabe from the Hasback crew. I normally see pics of it everywhere online and even seen it on the road a time or two but never got to look at it upclose. Really clean overall and the BBS wheels really set it off. Interested to see what else he has instore for it….

…Two beautifully maintained old school EF’s. I’ve always been a fan of EF-chassis Civics. The first one is rocking a set of Mugen CF48′s and the CRX belongs to none other than Leon Casino. He also has another ‘Rex that’s equally impressive…

…The car that belongs to the guy that put the meet together. There were a shitload of 8th generation Civics at the meet. Norman’s Civic is coming along nicely especially now with the Desmond Regamaster Marquis Promeda wheels on it…

…The rest are just random snaps I took of cars that were there….

..He had a “you’re cute” sign on his window…might a been better off with a sign that said “Let me fuck please” on it, probably woulda been more effective….

…Cool little Fit on Spoon SW388′s….

…I’m out…so tired. Man it is raining like crazy lately….I’ll have more stuff for you guys later like usual…

“The Chronicles…” Exclusive! J’s Racing TSX Front…

So I was hanging out with the homie Salem, who has the A&J Racing-sponsored TSX, and the subject of the new J’s Racing bumper came up. I remember he said he changed his mind on getting it a couple months back because he was disappointed in the grille design. I guess they went kind of wild on the design and tried to implement the Acura logo in it and it came out kind of hideous. Well he happened to mention today that he had been communicating with Ben Leung about it and they finally decided to modify it and ditch the grille. This is the first picture of the updated front on the internet and it comes directly from A&J Racing…

…It looks ALOT better than the initial pics with the big ass Acura emblem. Guess they listened to all the TSX owners on the net that were bitching about the design. I don’t know what other planned changes they have for it but it looks good as is. I’ll give word on release details as soon as I find out… Remember you saw it here first!

…On a sidenote, what’s the deal with parking the cars so damn close…shit, those cars look like they’re rubbing up on eachother at club….

A Nostalgic Moment…Import Showoff Oct. 24, 1999…

Miss Import Showoff 1999, Alley Baggett…Damn, remember that name? Haha. Yeah, back when she still had her first “set”….So I finally got around to scanning some pics from the album. It is an incredible pain in the ass to scan all these on a Mac g4 and then transferring them over to my PC where I can finally separate and edit them. Anyways, this was probably the first Import Showoff I went to back then. I was on the first half of my senior year in highschool and I remember going with my homie til this day, Jose. This was back when it was held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in SD. Back before people started acting stupid and causing the trouble which eventually got these events shut down at Del Mar. What a shame because these were some of the best shows in all of the country then….

…Here’s the couple from Powerban that used to show at all the events. Considering the time, it was pretty cool to have a pink and baby blue car as a his/her tandem. Seeing that Epic Motorsports sticker brings back such memories. I remember hanging out there alot back then when it was over in the Convoy/Clairemont Mesa area and even when they moved down to University. Paul was a cool guy and I remember Jimmy who worked there had a bb6 Prelude that was sponsored by Greddy. That was a pretty big deal back in the day considering alot of stuff wasn’t readily available as it is now. Cool guys who were always helpful and always hooked it up with good prices back then….Damn look at those white interiors, haha….

…I’m sure everyone remembers RJ DeVera’s mom’s Honda Odyssey. This was back when ArtnMotion was at the top and they had all kinds of crazy cars. They had full displays and posters of their own cars and shit. I remember seeing this van on TV too, they interview Mama DeVera and showed her racing the van on the strip too. I’m not exactly sure what program it was but it was on TLC or discovery channel or something…

…Mark from Team Techna’s Honda Prelude. Man this thing was wild. I didn’t know shit about cars back then and even when I first looked at it, I was like: “damn, that’s too much”. This car eventually went on to be yellow before it was sold. Also had better fitting wheels later on too. All that crazy bodywork made perfect sense back then, everyone swarmed this car like it was the hottest thing they had ever seen…

…Can anyone still name all three of these chicks? I think that’s Rowena Galam, Lisa Pham in the middle, and the third one’s name escapes me. Speedoptions.com was huge back then. Remember when everyone had their banner on their windshields? Weren’t they supposed to give you like $100 or some junk if you were photographed with the banner on your car or something? Or was that all some stupid rumor? Oh well I don’t think I ever got anything but then I don’t remember having a banner either…

…Damn, you will not believe how many years I spent trying to figure out what the fuck this car was…haha…I didn’t know anything back then and the front end just threw me off. I thought it was a RHD Accord but it wasn’t and I thought it looked like a Prelude but the front was so different. Turns out it was a JDM Prelude INX and they were offered only in Japan. Anyone remember Monsterflow filters? Man, they were at every event all the time with their sponge filters and they would always used dry-ice or something to demostrate how that shit made your car faster if you put dry-ice in that center indented part of the filter. So lame. Also notice the Racing Hart C5′s. Real C5′s. Not Katana Concept 5′s or whatever the fuck. Say what you will about cars back then, and all the gaudy bodykits with ridiculous styling cues and what not, but one thing holds true: People had their rim game DOWN. They didn’t have all that knock-off fake shit back then. Even the most horribly modded cars had legit Japanese wheels on.  Don’t believe me? Just look up at the previous pics. TE37′s, Racing Harts (NOT RH EVO’s. Those are NOT REAL Racing Harts BTW), Work wheels, etc. People use to spend good money on wheels, no matter what they did to their cars. It was a statement of sorts back then, if you had quality shit, it meant that you knew what you were doing and you knew about quality parts were…

…Most of you probably wouldn’t recognize this car unless you lived in San Diego. I used to see this thing all the time. All the bodywork and paint was done by Gold Crest Autobody off of University Ave. across the street from the old K-Mart. Gold Crest was huge back in the day cuz they did all crazy bodywork for teams like the 935 Wiked Draggers. I had my cars painted their back then too and I got to know the owner, Ebon Johnson, pretty well too. When he would take forever to paint my car and finish it he used to drive me to work in his chameleon colored Toyota Sequoia. Cool guy….too bad that place is gone now or run by someone that he hired to take his place. Yes I know that he was running an escort service on the side out of the bodyshop. Shit I didn’t care, they did great work back then….and he even paid me to bring him other cars to paint and what not….

…Speaking of my cars, I spotted this Accord coupe while I was looking through my album. My car didn’t look anything like this of course, but the color definitely reminded me my old ride. Damn, Team Hybrid sure had some different cars back then. Hybrid was all about Honda’s back then. Now they’re all Euro and high-end cars and all the old members are probably long gone. I like their old web address too…http://fly.to/teamhybrid….haha. They had the means to get all kinds of crazy shit done to their cars but they couldn’t all collectively get together and put like $20 together to get a real domain name….

…Techna was all about Hondas back then too. Look at this coupe with Accord headlights. Honestly doesn’t look that bad. He’s also rocking that DTM style spoiler that was popular back then. Shit got so big people starting putting them on backwards and other people didn’t even notice. Then they started rockin it backwards cuz they thought that’s how it went. Kinda like the VeilSide double spoilers when people started taking the top piece off and it just looked liked a retarded whale-tail….

…I shall leave you with this…..What is it? I am not completely sure. I believe it was at one time or another an EF Civic sedan. But I could be wrong. Whatever it was, will never compare to the awesomeness that it became. Just look at the wheels…Tenzo Shu4′s…I think it was foreshadowing. It was a warning sign of the rice to come in the future. Better yet maybe it was from the future, from 2010. And it traveled back in time to warn us of the impending rice to come. But we didn’t listen…..

More next time….

2 Honda’s in the Top 10 at Rev Speed Super Battle…

Well I still haven’t had the chance to upload the old skool pics yet but I did catch the results from the recent Rev Speed Tsukuba Super Battle and two Honda’s made it into the top 10. The first one is the one you see above which is the Esprit NSX. I’m sure you’ve seen it around before and if not, definitely take a closer look. It sports Esprit aero and running a turbo set-up. With Tarzan Yamada behind the wheel, the NSX was able to reach a best lap time of 57.085….

…The next car that made the top 10 was a car you’ve undoubtedbly seen on this site on more than one occassion. The naturally-aspirated ASM S2000 sporting it’s crazy aero-package. The S2000 was able to reach a 6th place finish with a time of 57.733….

…I headed over to the ASM Japan blog and saw them post the results posted up there also. They were kind of disappointed with the overall result because track editions and oil on the track affected their runs. The rain and low temperature made it impossible to push the ASM S2000 to it’s maximum potential. It was also noted that they said even with the bad track conditions, their overall top speed was better than last year. Which is promising news in regards to the progress of the development of the S2k….

That’s it for now, I’ll try to get some old skool stuff up by the end of the week….stickers are goin out this week too so be on the lookout for those, whoever wanted them….

A Nostalgic Moment….Pics from 99-2000….

So I went down to San Diego today to my parents house to help them set-up their new Samsung 1080P flat-screen TV and I was in my old room looking at my old stuff. Next to all my old Super Street and Import Tuner magazines was a photo album. I look inside and much to my delight were photographs from all the old car shows I used to attend back in 1999 and 2000. We’re talking like Import Showoff Del Mar, back when Showoff and HIN used to be the shit and were the biggest shows in San Diego. I still remember those events, 3 buildings filled to the brim, cars outside, massive amounts of people, chicks getting naked…the works…This is back before it got REALLY commercialized and still had a bit of an underground feel to it. Even though it was a massive production, it wasn’t nearly as huge as it is now. I also have pics from the first two Extreme Autofest events in SD….haha…chicks got down at those bikini contests, I have the pics to prove it! Haha, can’t believe the people at Vons used to develop these pics. I remember I was still in high school and I used to carry a backpack with me and my mom’s old hand held 35mm camera. Looking back now, man shit was waaaayyy different back then. I’m actually kinda excited to go through this album and show you guys pics. Sorry for the cellphone shots but I just got home from SD and I am so tired. When I get the chance, I’ll scan the pics and get them up here….Alot of the cars will probably conjure up memories that you had thought were gone…

…Powerban!! Haha, remember this Integra owned by a girl? If I remember correctly, she used to do shows with her boyfriend who had a baby blue Civic coupe…

…I think I still know the guy that built this thing. I think he worked at ARD Performance cuz I always used to see it there. B.J., who works at Pann now was working at ARD back in the day too when he had his flesh-colored CRX! haha…

…Goldfish in the headlights?! WTFLOLBBQ?!!! Haha, I remember walking around Hot Import Nights San Diego and I saw this and I couldn’t believe it. “What the fuck?” were the words I think I muttered. Talk about unique…..this guy used his headlights as a fish tank…I wonder how that worked out for him…haha…

Anyways, I’ll get some pics in better quality up in the next couple days…should be interesting!

So sick!….

Damn, this is awesome. I always wanted to get into R/C cars but I just never got a chance to. It’s cool to see these things cuz they have so much detail in them. This one in particular is pretty sweet. I love the working headlights and everything. Seriously looks like a real car…

…What would you even do with this if you had it? Looks like a real-life restoration project. You always see the R/C cars drifting and crashing into shit but I mean, the way this thing looks, it makes you not even wanna play with it…

…Do they have like, r/c car meets where people just park next to eachother and hang out? Haha…like a real life car meet where you can show of your ride. And people can go on r/c car forums and go “oh that guy doesn’t even drive his car, he’s a hardparker.” I remember playing Forza 2 online and people would all join in an online game and then nobody would race, they would just park their cars and take pics of them. It was the strangest thing I’ve seen in a racing game. One time I just sped off and some guy messaged me on Xbox Live and was like “hey don’t drive your car fast or we’re gonna boot you.”   Weird.

I should probably give you some info about this. It’s a 1/10 scale model from ABC Hobby. I don’t really know how to get ahold of mine. I looked in the links section and they have a U.S. Distributor called DCM Hobbies Creations. I clicked on it and got stuck in the Microsoft Outlook trap…you know how it pops up and you keep pressing “no” when you try to get out but you actually have to click “yes”. That is the wonder of knowing how to read I guess. If you guys can manage to get ahold of one, I would love to get one also…so please pick one up for me. I’ll trade you for a “Chronicles” stickers…. haha..

…Look at the detail, down to the exhaust, badges, and taillights. All it needs are some Mugen CF48 manhole cover wheels…that’ll set this off perfect.

I was browsing the rest of the models they have on the site and their old school Celica is also incredible. Actually all their stuff is good. The only other Honda model they had on there was a Mugen Fit Spec-D. If I had a choice I think I would pick the CR-X but you can’t go wrong with the Fit either. Send one over for Christmas, I really won’t mind….

Mission Aborted… =(

…Sooo…I know I told you guys I was gonna head to Adult-Con to stare at titties…*Ahem*I mean…look for Honda’s*ahem*…but that whole shindig is expensive. Costs like $36 bucks or something to get in….$36 to stare at covered boobs!!! Argh….I remember going to the AVN show a couple years back and that was $50 but that was when I was shitting money and not to mention that it was the big show over in Vegas. So I ended up not going. I googled some pics and it didn’t look all too exciting anyways. You’d be surprised, these pornstars do not look anything like they do on camera. Flourescent lights tell the truth you know….Don’t believe me…Look below.

You’re probably used to fapping to this Tera Patrick…

…Fap! Fap! (Imagine the sound *ding* ding* but instead go *fap*fap*) Haha…Well. This is the lovely Tera Patrick at Adultcon…

…womp…womp….She looks upset…Like someone threw her dog in the air and fuckin dragon punched that shit….

Anyways, so mission aborted. No money, no Adult-Con, no non-perverted titty shoulder rub….

There was also a couple meets going on this weekend too but I didn’t really hear too much about them and I had other stuff going on so I didn’t go. I looked at coverage from the meets too but nothing really stood out…sorry guys.

I did happen to catch this though while I was looking around on the net. This EK belongs to HT user: 1Quikgsr. I normally won’t just throw some random stuff on here…well..okay I would. But like not just anything. This EK is clean…Everything you gotta love, Backyard Special front bumper, Volk TE37′s, Recaro seats…..oh yeah…It makes 714whp and 452lb-ft of torque. WTFLOLBBQ?!….

It’s pretty unassuming at first glance, like most clean built EK’s, but under the hood is some ridiculous work…

…Borg Warner s372R turbo, Full Race manifold….etc…

…Taking that BYS front bumper onto the track too…yikes….

…I can’t even create a 700hp Civic in Forza and have it run right, let alone in real life…..You know what I would do if I had a car that made that kind of power? NOTHING, cuz I would probably run into a wall and kill myself….

Big props to the owner for building a Honda and running it….Gotta love it…

More Randomness….The quest for Hondas at Adult-Con….

Oh man, a weekend update! Not much goin on with Hondas in the world this week. The Honda F1 car is for sale but I thought you guys would be more interested in a Robocap fap pic because it’ll nicely transition over to what I’m gonna talk about next: Adult-Con. Sure there might not be any Hondas inside (That we know of) but we will try our best to cover Adult Con in the QUEST FOR HONDAS! Haha…..Whatever, you know how sometimes you’re on the forum and someone posts a car, and then someone goes “That’s tits”…well you know what, fuck that. We’re gonna go see some real tits, and maybe we might even accidently rub our shoulders on a boob in a totally none creepy or sexual way. I’m pretty sure most of the doods in porn don’t make that much money. Especially not as much as the chicks, unless they’re into the man-on-man porn. So most of them probably drive fixed up Hondas slammed to the ground with Spoon wheels or something and with some angled EK-Squad sticker on the corner of the windshield……I will dub thee…Adult-Con: Quest for the titty shoulder rub…and for Hondas.

I figure I might have to include something car related in this post so here’s some pics I found of a yellow DC2 on purple TE37′s. The Integra is from Crazu Knights out in the midwest…..crazy car, with a simple look, and an attitude all it’s own…Enjoy.

Random shots, random news….

Not much for you guys today…. I need to catch up on sleep. Apparently women get mad when you don’t sleep until 5:30-6a.m. in the morning and don’t answer the phone when they call to tell you they love you. Sometimes your mom calls you and you think it’s your girl and you answer the phone all weird and freak your mom out. Or when you answer the phone you’re still half-sleeping and you start saying non-sensical bullshit or shit you shouldn’t say and they get even more pissed off later in the day…..This is all pure speculation of course…

Anyways, what’s going on next weekend? Well…the Sportcar Motion meet of course! Loi Song and his crew have recently seen much success with their Time Attack-winner Honda Civic and are opening their doors to everyone to check out their facilities. Back when I was living in San Diego, I used to kick it with Loi over at the shop all the time. Loi is one of the nicest guys you can meet and he’s very knowledgeable. He’s always helped me out and I can’t say enough nice things about the guy. The shop itself is pretty cool and consists mostly of Loi’s ever-growing stable of cars. Be sure to stop by and check out the place and get a closer look at the Time Attack EG, as well as his previous time attack DC2 race car that he’s currently selling….

Other than that, I’m currently working on “The Best Of’s” for the entire year. I’m trying to compile a list of the 10 best cars of th year aka “the heavy hitters of 2008″, and also a list of cars to look-out for in 09′ and best build threads to look forward to. I was gonna try to put a few up tonight but it’s just so much content that I would have been up all night trying to comment on them all….

I know some of you don’t like reading and just like staring at pictures….so I included a couple pics of some S2000′s that caught my eye when I was browsing the web today. Between downloading “Zach and Miri Make a Porno” and the WEC MMA event from two nights before, I saw these two Spoon S2k’s…

…I don’t care what people say, I love the Spoon S2000 front bumpers. Such a unique look and still has that hint of aggression without having all kinds of crazy vents and canards and what not…

…The rear is legit. Full function right there. More functional than the new WordPress layout…shit. Why would you take something with such a great interface and so simple, and then clutter everything and make it hard for me to find anything as I put this post together….For those of you that don’t know, WordPress is the software that this blog is run off of. Kind of like Internet Brands to Honda-Tech, but without the dictatorship. Anyways, they “upgraded” to a new layout and everything is all over the place. The older one was better in my opinion….

…so sick!

Ah crap, the Extenze infomercial on TV must mean that it’s 5 a.m. again. Oh, Christine Nguyen is on there talking about penises! Wow, she really doesn’t look anything like she does in her pics….1-800-632-5685 for a bigger cock and for better pleasure! And the guy they’re interviewing is not embarassed to say it. Haven’t you always want to improve “that certain part of the human body”…..Oh they have an Extenze drink! Penis enlargement soda! Haha, what the fuck….You’re not down!!

NSX Dorifto?!

Have you guys ever had a chance to glance at Auto-Otaku’s Flickr page? Man….I can spend hours on there. The guy has some seriously sick photos of events that he attends in Japan. I wish I could take photos like that. I wish I had a camera actually so I didn’t have to borrow other people’s cameras all the time. Actually I have a digital camera but I have the uncontrollable shakes and the pics always come out like I’m running while taking the photo. Like a rolling shot, but the car is still and I’m the one moving. His flickr hasn’t been updated for some time now but I randomly checked it yesterday and caught these images from a recent HPI Drift and Grip event….

…I personally have yet to see a Drift NSX and this is the first one I’ve ever seen. Call drifting what you want or hate all you like, but I love drifting. I notice alot of Honda guys tend to hate on the sport of drifting but that’s probably because they just can’t do it. And the ones that do try end up under a semi-truck or something. I’m a fan of everything related to cars and drifting is definitely something I follow. I’ll admit that once I owned a Honda, I kinda stopped following it as closely. Whenever I get the chance to however, I’ll take a look at coverage or go to an event…

…It’s cool to see an NSX drifting, I just never pictured it. I tried to look up more info on this NSX but I didn’t come up with anything. I honestly didn’t really look that hard because I didn’t want to test fate and see what the terms “Japanese” and “love section” would come up in a google search. I don’t mind looking at gigantic censored blurry blocks and hairy bush but we’re talking about a culture where they have game shows where baby octopus’ and eels are stuffed into snatches for sheer amusement. Trust me, I only need to see it once….

…I notice the “International Allstars” team sticker on there which is a bit weird considering it’s an american car crew/marketing company. Guess they’ve made it overseas. Hopefully the cars over there that they support are more exciting than the ones they have in the states, haha…..

…Upon closer inspection, this actually looks to be a U.K. based car. Maybe it competes in the U.K. drift series or something. I don’t know. I don’t wanna google “English Love Section” either, the internet is a scary place. Feel free to try and let me know though…but you’re on your own if you run into kind of dookie excreting from wherever….

Notice the 02-spec taillights and pre-02 front end. Probably easier to replace the older front-end after riding the wall….

…Wish I had more info on this thing. I’m gonna ask my homie Tony, he owns an NSX….the only difference is his is more broken. And it has a big “Thai” sticker on it. Yup……And he thinks every NSX owner is an asshole. Yeah that Tony….

A Nostalgic Moment….Erica Lam’s Honda Accord…

I don’t know why I randomly thought of this, well actually, I tend to always randomly think of things. When you don’t really have anything to do, that’s what one does right? Anyways….I remember a couple of weeks before SEMA of this year, I was over at Creative hanging out with my boy Billy and Ryan Uchida was showing us a SEMA car he was working on. It was actually the baby blue Scion TC that would eventually win the Scion challenge this year actually….Well I mention the baby blue because Ryan was joking around and said “Yeah, it’s ‘Erica Lam’ blue. If you know that name like we did, that means you’ve probably been in the scene wayyyy too long. If this car is unfamiliar to you, this would be the AV6 Honda Accord that once belonged to Erica Lam of Team Techna fame…..

…It took me a hell of a long time to find these pics too. You wouldn’t believe it considering how popular the car was back in the early 2000′s. Sure it may look “ricey” to you now and to some, it may have been “ricey” then. It was a controversial car to say the least. But one thing about it that would cement it in the history of our scene is that it was a winner. This thing used to win at Import Showoff, Hot Import Nights, etc., etc. Say what you will about it but there was alot of work put into this car, quality work at that….

…The first thing you would probably remember about it was the color. I mean, the thing was huge. It had a custom sheet metal widebody done by Auto Xplosion and R34 front and rear lights. When this thing rolled in (often times pushed of course), it immediately caught your eye. I remember I used to always watch them load the car up and get it in and out of the shows. It was on air-suspension so the compressor would always be going and it was loud as all hell….

…I look back at it now and with the knowledge that I’ve gained over the years being apart of the industry, it’s still a really impressive build. Nowadays the car would probably get laughed at because the scene has taken a bit more of a subtle direction. You don’t really see wild conversions and all that shit anymore. Well at DUB shows. Actually this thing could probably still win at DUB. All it needs is some Asanti’s or some just leave the car hopped-up to it’s highest setting and call it DONK or whatever they call it…

…whatever happened to this car? Well…last I heard, it was put on Ebay for like $35k or something. I don’t know if it sold or not but it obviously isn’t around anymore. It’s probably in another state now or it was dismantled and parted out….If anyone knows, please feel free to tell me….

…Damn, looking at these pics bring back alot of memories….TC Spoiler? Sprewell Racing? Wholesalehyper? Haha, wow, do these companies even exist anymore. Team Techna is long gone too…..I mean, maybe there’s still a crew out there repping the sticker or whatever, but it’s definitely not the same group we grew up with….

2010 Acura NSX…

While I was on the Playboy.com website trying to renew my subscription for my dad, I thought to myself…”Hmm I wonder what the 2010 Acura NSX is gonna look like?”….So I got up, went to the kitchen, drank some iced tea, came back, watched the Hills and then played Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix online with Katman for like 4 hours…

…Oh and then I went online and googled “2010 NSX” and came up with these pics. I’m still iffy on the design, as I’m sure many of you are. It’s no longer the mid-engine rear-wheel drive supercar we’re all used to seeing. I love the way the rear looks but the front I’m not too big of a fan of. Looks like the new Toyota Matrix or something. And then it has some concave stock G35 wheels on it to top it off. Ehhh…Overall I guess it’s a cool looking design. I’m not automotive designer so I guess I have no real say in the matter. Trust me I went to Art Center to study automotive design for a semester and it is fucking hard….And you know what? There was girl in that class. And she was not hot. Oh and you know another thing? Despite what people tell you, if you take “asian studies” in college, there’s no hot chicks in those classes either. It’s a myth. Of course, it really doesn’t make sense. Hot asian girls probably already know about asian studies so there would be no reason to take it. I learned the hard way. You heard it here first, from stickydiljoe.com…if you take asian studies courses to stare at hot asian chicks, you do not belong in college….

Here’s a cool see-through rendering of the car. I like the front alot better in this pics because I can’t actually see it. And remember those seats, because in 2 years or so, you will see kids peddling those seats online in the classified section of your favorite forum. And that shit will end up in somebody’s Civic….

I also stumbled onto Jon Sibal’s blog from my own blog roll, and saw his rendering of the 2010 Takata NSX…Seen below this is his beautiful rendering…

Pretty cool huh? I guess he didn’t like the front either and he modified it to his liking. He also included a cool shockwave file of how he rendered the car exactly and each step that it required….

You can see his rendering skills here.

I thought it would be cool to attempt my own rendering so I too did one…..And I am no professional, nor am I any good at anything, but here it is, just because I feel that if you’re already here, you might as well waste some more time….

Who’s is better? I don’t know….I think Jon Sibal has the edge because he went all out and actually colored his and made it professional looking….

You be the judge.
