Exclusive Content…I shot the Sheepey…

First off, let me remind you guys to please, please, please go out and cop the newest issue of Super Street magazine. It just dropped this week and subscribers should have these in their mailboxes already. It is a great issue, it’s got coverage of Eibach 2009 (Phaze2 reppin’ in that section) , an article about JDM Wong’s EF and Project Car’s CR-X, Tamon Design S2000, and on the cover of course, is Sheepey aka Alex Soto’s Acura Integra. It’s a great cover feature and it does the car justice in every way. Plus you get to hear from Sheepey himself in the article. So please, go to your local retailer and get a copy of the August 2009 issue of Super Street magazine…

GET THIS.

I am super proud of my homie Sheepey for continuing to do big things. Another cover with another sick ass project to come. Go grab that issue and see for yourself. I’ve been sleeping on these pics for about a week now. I wanted to wait until the new issue dropped so that everyone could get a look at it immortalized in print before I got pics of it up. Sheepey asked me to go snap some pics of his new set-up because Peakboost needed some pics of their new manifold and also some other little details that Sheepey wanted snaps of. This isn’t a feature or whatever you wanna call it. I was just helping out a friend and helping him out with his sponsors. Oh and he also needed details shots for his portfolio and what not. Even though he was out in the middle of buttfucking nowhere, I’m always down to help out a friend…haha…

I’m not a photographer. I don’t claim to be one. I definitely don’t think I could do the outside of this car justice like professional photogs can do as seen in print so I really didn’t bother to get any exterior shots. The pics are mainly just of us messing around when Sheepey took DC5*Brian out for a spin. I brought DC5*Brian and HBK Gabe (google it.) out there with me because the drive was kinda far and these two guys are always never doing anything and down to roll out…

It’s really hard to grasp everything that’s been done to this car without seeing it in person. Actually that’s wrong. It’s really hard to grasp everything that’s been done to this car without seeing it in person and having Sheepey be there to point out all the details. The guy’s attention to detail is fucking amazing. Good lord. I’ve personally seen this car 3-4 times upclose and I didn’t even notice a majority of the details until he point them out to me himself. Let me remind you that I’m not exactly new to this stuff either. I’ve seen quite a bit of the best builds in the SoCal import community. After hearing Alex talk about it, I truly have a better understanding of his Integra and feel honored to have him ask me to come out to take pictures of it. He knows quite a few people in the industry and I’m not exactly the guy you call first to take pictures you know? Haha…

Man Perris is farrrrr….It’s so empty out there and quiet. While I was taking pics outside, a cop saw us and he didn’t bother to stop and just went about his business. And we were right in the middle of the road too….Must be nice to never have to worry about the cops getting on your ass….

What Sheepey really wanted me to get was the new turbo manifold he got from Peak Boost. He barely got it so it didn’t get a chance to make it into print. The manifold is a Peak Boost HVS top-mount manifold fully-polished by Peak Boost themselves…

Another angle of the manifold and turbo…

More random shots of the bay….

Peep the mil-spec distributor harness plug…so sick…

If you look closer, you’ll notice that all original bolts on the engine have been replaced with socket-head stainless steel bolts…

Even the nuts for something as simple as the shock tower have been replaced with titanium nuts and washers…

Sheepey also recently picked up his custom Status Ring FRP seats. Custom because the stitching is blue and the entire backside of the seat has been painted to match the exterior….

Brian offering his opinion of the seats…

…he liked the AIM Sports MXL Strada cluster even more….

It started to get dark after  a little bit so we headed back to Sheepey’s house and his big ass garage to get the rest of the pics…

Mil-spec firewall plug. It’s not really about the tucks anymore guys, the community is moving towards clean and very visible mil-spec harnesses…

Fuel is never an issue for this Integra…

This is what I’m referring to when I say that every single bolt has been replaced with socket head stainless steel bolts…

All stock rubber hoses and clamps are now gone and replaced with Russell Proclassic nylon hoses. The fittings are black with custom re-anodized blue sleeves…

Nice touch with the dipstick… ;)

The snail is a Bullseye S366 extended-tip turbo. Sheepey told me that it’s the “latest and greatest turbo technology to hit the market.”

The rest are kinda random…

Money shot?

Sheepey also picked up some new Skunk2 Pro Series Pro C coilovers…

Thanks for looking….Remember to go grab the mag. Hope you guys enjoyed the images…

Super…uhh..Autotoyz/WiredonHonda.com Meet…

So I headed over to Super “AutoToyz” today for the Wiredonhonda.com meet and I must say, it was definitely a little weird rolling up to that place knowing that the original Autobacs is gone now and what sits in its place is Super Autotoyz. On top of that Red Robin is gone also which makes it even stranger to be there. I’m so used to eating there and then heading over to Autobacs and not buying anything. The last time I was there I was scrounging up cheap stuff when they had their going-out-of-business sale. And before that was the JTuned meet. The turn-out for yesterday’s event was actually pretty decent but I had a bit of a Twilight Zone moment when I saw the new sign….

I got there and didn’t even try to roll to the front to park my daily so I just shot to the back of the lot and found parking there. Don’t really have much interesting stuff to say. The turnout was good but the majority of the cars were so-so. Typical Auto-bacs/toyz type of turnout for their meets. I got pics of the cars that stood out to me but there were definitely some that I missed. If I did’t get a pic, sorry, it was a kinda hot and I got whatever I could….

First car I saw when I got there. You can see my 4Runner in the background. Always liked these wheels and they look good on this TSX…

Rare color combo on a 8th gen. Civic. I like it, definitely different from the white and black 8th gens. that are around…

Always enjoy this coupe whenever I see it and I always see it at this location. Wish I had one in this color, maybe someday if I ever decide to own a Honda again….

Ojay followed me to the meet and was looking for parking before he ended up with the Fast Autoworks guys…

Definitely one of my favorite EFs at the moment…

Sick Spoon tandem…

Arnel at the Fast Autoworks booth…

The rest of the guys…

More Element stuff…

Bisi…

Bisi discussing business with the Phaze2 homies…

We walked into Autotoyz to see what was different and it definitely is not the same store it was before. Some things were rearranged and the employees looked the same but alot of stuff they used to carry is no longer there and they seem to carry alot of Password: JDM stuff now. You’re not allowed to take pics in there or whatever but the camera was tripping and I “found” these on my memorycard…

Whoops.

Los’ Crx…

So after a couple hours, we were hungry and HBK Gabe (Google it.) mentioned that he wanted to hit up Northwood Pizza because he and alot of the other guys have never had it. Nothing else was really going on so we all decided to head down to Irvine for some Pizza. One of these days every Honda enthusiast has to hit up NWP…it makes bullshitting on the NWP4Life forums mean so much more…haha…

The infamous…

Waiting for the pizza…

Imaginary kissing of the pizza…

Sid and Arnel’s pizza with anchovies…

Gotta get that meat lovers…shit was derrrricious…

After the pizza was devoured, these fatties decided they wanted to coat the pizza with some yogurt from Yogurtland next door…

Cholos need yogurt too…

That’s a wrap….Cars, Autotoyz, pizza, yogurt, not a bad Sunday at all…Peace.

Exclusive Content…Big Mike’s Prelude build…Part 9…

So as you all know, the Prelude is now at the bodyshop and unlike most shops, they’re actually working on the car the first week it is there. You know how it goes, normally when you drop a car off for paint, it just sits outside with the windows down for a week until you go back to realize that they haven’t touched your car. Then you go and bitch at them and they finally work on it another week later. Typical bodyshop etiquette but this shop is different. The moment they got the car, they began work on it…

Apparently, there was a huge dent on the door that I didn’t even notice when I used to see the car all the time…

The OE trunk getting worked on. Looked pretty good compared to how it was before…

Fender getting some love…

Here’s the stuff that they’re using to shave the bay and what not. Basic tools of the trade you know, not regular bondo of course…

Hole for where the mil-spec plug will go…

Bay getting some heavy work…

This dusty mess will be ready for paint in no time…Stay tuned…

Own a piece of history…

Okay, not really. But the homie Jeremy is selling his ITR and it’s pretty uncommon to see Milano Red Integra Type Rs. Yes, it’s real too. All the way from Japan…I hope someone buys it so they can finish it unlike Jeremy, who decided he wanted to never finish his car….I’ll let him tell you more about it…

When he isn’t busy working out or smashing on chicks at Pho restaurants, he’s actually one of the best Honda builders around. His previous ITR was really nice and this one would have been even better if he had decided to finish it. Block-quote time…

As some of you know, it is now time to part with my Integra Type R. I am sad that I didn’t finish this build like I wanted to, but I have higher priorities right now to take care of. I am in no rush to sell this car.I haven’t even drivin this car since last November and just sits in my garage collecting dust…I’ve put less then 1000 miles on this car since I bought it in March 2007…..and after the swap with brand new parts such as the header/intake/exhaust/clutch,radiator//suspension/fuel setup…maybe 200 miles???

Here is the original thread to my car:

Here’s some shots of the swap…

Here is how it sits as of today…

Yup yup, back with some more coverage of Big Mike’s Prelude rebuild… The infamous Donut showed up to help out along with Big Mike’s homie, Jimmy. Today saw more work on the bay. Exclusive Content…Big Mike’s Prelude build…Part 6…

Back with part 6 of the ongoing Big Mike Prelude rebuild series….I hope everyone enjoys the new look and thank you everybody who had input on how to make it better. The little touches make a huge difference. On with the build, shall we?…

Last time we checked in with Big Mike, he was still continuing teardown and custom linework had begun. Today we’ll focus more on some of the new parts that will make their way onto the car…

New parts started rolling including a bunch of new fuel components and a new set of Defi gauges….

Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator…

…fuel filter…

Defi gauges…

New seat…

Big Mike decided that it was time to ditch the carbon fiber trunk and return to OEM…

In the process Big Mikey dug up all this random shit out of his trunk…

OE trunk mock-up…

Dashboard finally made its way out…

Wiring harness that needed some cleaning up…

…by the infamous Rywire himself…

Harness cleaned-up…

Defi harness also cleaned up…

Pile of crap…

Meanwhile, Big Mike even took the time to wash his heater core…talk about meticulous…

Don’t you love it when new parts come in and you get to tear apart the packaging and play with your new toys?….it’s like Christmas everytime…

Back tomorrow with some more goodness…

Preview for the next update…some of the homies stop by to lend a helping hand on the bay…

Version 2 is now live!…

Well if you’re reading this then that means you’ve already had the opportunity to check out the new layout. I couldn’t really track back every update to correct the sizing on the images so all the posts except for the Fast Autoworks post and the one following that are corrected. I’m very pleased with the results and I’m pretty excited now to be able to present the pics in the size that I intended them to be. Everything seems to be working smoothly but if you guys run into something that’s fucked up, please let me know…

Just one more pic from the shoot…

The “Support the Chronicles” link is easier to spot now as well and basically it’s just an overall cleaner layout to work with. Hopefully this gives the site a more customized look and a look unique to stickydiljoe.com. With that said, I’d just like to thank everyone that has supported this site for making it happen. It’s been a while preparing this layout and definitely did not happen over night. I can’t thank my friends and supporters enough. This site started out as just a regular site following Hondas and transformed into a site where people can have an indepth look at the Southern California Honda Community as well as our adventures to different places. I say “our” because it’s definitely a group effort. The Phaze2xDoods/Hot Stuff International crew make all this possible. I also have to thank Loi Song from Sportcar Motion for being so grateful as to let me use his equipment whenever I wanted and basically lending a helping hand anytime. He was even the guy that helped pick up the t-shirts from the printing place when I was stuck in traffic and shit. Also gotta thank Rodrez for being the first guy that told me to push forward with this site. I came to him with the idea randomly one night when we were randomly bullshitting about stuff. Who knew that it would grow to what it is today. For all I know, he wasn’t even listening and just told me to do whatever so he could go to sleep. Oh well, guess it worked out, haha! Big thanks all around.

I hope everyone enjoys the new look. If not, then I apologize because I’m not going back to the old look haha…Thanks to everyone who bought stickers and t-shirts, you guys give me the extra funding needed to get stuff done around here and keep this place going. You help put 99 cents chicken soft tacos on my table and sometimes I even get to get the regular nachos. Haha. In all seriousness though, thank you. I’ll be back later today with alot of content on Big Mike’s continuing built process…Unbelieveable how fast this guy works. Alright, I’m going blind from looking at color pallettes and checking for errors on every page and section. Time to get some rest. Enjoy.

Oh one more thing. I came home today to news that my boy Billy (with the Laguna Seca Blue IS300) was jumped when two guys tried to take his M3 from him. Pretty fucked up world we live in when a guy can’t even get a burrito without some stupid shit happening to him. What a shame. Not like the guy is a pushover either, I mean, he trains MMA and isn’t exactly a small guy. Shit just ain’t fair when it’s 2-on-1 and people are sucker-punching you and shit. The good news is that he’s okay and left with only a couple bruises. Luckily they didn’t take his car and just took off. You always hear people on the net talking shit about how we don’t drive our cars and how we just garage them. Well, what the fuck do you expect? We can’t even go out and get some food without some motherfuckers trying to take our shit from us. Nevermind car theft, how about getting straight car-jacked? Oh and yes, he still got his burrito by the way. That’s Billy for ya. Nothing can stop him from getting his burrito, even when faced with tremendous adversity. Keep your head up son….Crazy fucking world I tell ya….

It just keeps gettin’ better…

Figure I’d give you guys something to read on a Father’s Day since you guys are probably gonna be sitting around just hanging out. Went to a Honda Tuning magazine photoshoot today and had a good time just hanging out with the homies…..Make sure to pick up this issue because it’ll definitely be one to collect…

The find the whole fake cloud thing to be a little too mellow dramatic at times and I thought you guys would enjoy Arnel in a dramatic setting haha…

Anyways, man, things just keep moving on the up and up here at The Chronicles… I got some exciting news for you guys that follow this site regularly. First of all, I finally decided to make the jump and kinda separate the design of this site from the rest of the blogs out there and switched to a completely new look. I recently completed it and I can honestly say that I’m very excited about this new look. It’ll give me the opportunity to present coverage and photography in a much better size compared to the smaller images you see here. I’m very fond of this lay-out but I find it just a little too restrictive in terms of image sizing. The new layout will offer bigger pics and a more customized look. Look for the launch of The Chronicles…Version.2 this coming Monday. It’ll change the way you see this place forever….I can’t wait!…

Next week will also bring more exclusive content of Big Mike’s Prelude rebuild. He’s done a ton of work this week since he’s graduated and has more time to mess with the build now. From what I’ve seen, he’s going ALL OUT. So definitely stayed tuned for that…

He sent this over to me before he went out and ordered a shitload of parts. That’s like, what, 5g’s right there? Haha, fuck…Dude is crazy…

…And if that wasn’t enough…I got another HUGE announcement for you. You know I bring you guys the exclusive shit whenever I can. And I got a big announcement for you guys. I brought you the life behind the scenes from the Phaze2 homies, I bring you Big Mike’s build exclusively, and coming real soon, I will be bringing you some more exclusive content from another one of Socal’s heavyhitters. You won’t wanna miss this one. Even I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to shoot this car. It’s a priviledge for me to be able to bring this car to you in FULL detail….

That’s about it for now….Stay tuned for the launch of Version.2!….

A day at Fast Autoworks…

So Mikey and I headed down to Fast Autoworks the other day to just hang out and shoot the shit with Tuan and the rest of the crew. I got there at about 2:35 or so and we took off to go eat at Island’s (again). I even managed to order the exact same thing as Sunday and it was just as good. I know Bisi is sponsored by Outback Steakhouse and sometimes I wonder how great the world would be if Island’s sponsored us. I mean, it doesn’t even have to be an elaborate sponsorship. I always order the exact same Rincon burger (medium-well) so it’s not like I’m asking for too much. Haha. In exchange I’d just rock an Island’s sticker or something on my car. Shit, I’m doing free advertising right now and I’m sure some of you will go; “Damn, that shit sounds good right now” and then go order some food from them and make them some money. Oh, we can all dream can’t we?….

After we finished our burgers, we headed back to the shop. It was kind of a slow day compared to the usual so we just hung out and watched JP work on his own Integra for a little bit…

They were also working on installing HBK Jon’s new mil-spec harness…

While that was going on, Mikey was busy hanging out with Tuan, the owner…

This is Tuan’s Civic coupe. So clean and flawless….I love this thing. Just so simple and to the point….

When you open up the hood it’s a totally different car…

After about an hour or so, Arnel decided to come by and hang out. He just recently got his fenders fixed and repainted and the rear quarter panel looks perfect now…

Sid came by after work to come kick it also and we all just hung out. Then Mikey and I decided to go to some random liquor store in the area to go grab some drinks since it was hot as shit…

I was kinda iffy on why the “euro bliss” drink looked like a bottle of jizz…

…and why they still carried All-Sport, seeing as how this shit went out of business like 10 years ago or something. I don’t even think the current generation of kids today knows what this brand is….Even the logo is straight outta the 90s. I also saw they were selling baseball caps…but not just any baseball caps, they had “Sudden Death” baseball caps. Yeah, “Sudden Death” the Jean Claude Van Damme movie from 1995. This store was still carrying the official merchandise from the movie haha…I walked in there and it was like I walked back in time…

After I returned to 2009, I just walked around and took random shots of the shop…

Overall it was a good day. Thanks to Tuan and the rest of the guys for having me and being real chill guys. I love the coupe and Jon’s hatch is gonna look better than ever once the harness is completlely installed and the car is up and running….

For those of you that liked those like black & white artsy pics and shit, here’s a link to bigger versions of them. Feel free to distribute them and advertise for me haha…Or use them for subpar quality desktop wallpapers haha….

…And a bigger version of this image….Just click on them and it’ll take you to the regular size…

Workin’ on a couple things…

I hung out at Fast Autoworks today because Mikeyyyy want me to check the shop out since those guys check this site out alot. Really cool guys over there, I had a good time just hanging out and shooting the shit with them. Took alot of random pics but I’m still editing them. The ones I’m posting up right now are just some of the images from today that I was messing around with.  I know they look kinda small but if you right-click and “view image” it’ll show you the original size. I always have to resize them to fit the lay-out of the page. If you’ve never done that before, all the pics I’ve posted up in the past are the same way. Anyways, just thought I’d mention a couple things…

If you guys want stickers, they are available once again. I had another batch made. That means some of you that didn’t get your stickers yet should be receiving them within the next couple days because I already mailed them out. If you’re interested in getting some stickers, there’s a link at the top of the page (“Support the Chronicles”) that will take you to a separate page with details….

Shirts are still available as well, I got a couple different sizes left so if you’re interested, hit me up and let me know what size you want and I’ll check for you….

I’ll have more of Big Mike’s stuff up within the coming days. He’s been busy graduating from school and what not (Congrats to Big Mike by the way) and he hasn’t been working at the furious pace he started at. Now that he has more time, I’m sure he’ll resume with the rebuild and I’ll have more stuff for you guys accordingly…

My visit to Fast Autoworks will be up this week too. Pics are almost finished. I just got sidetracked and started doing some fancy shit to some of them…haha…

Anyways, enjoy…

Preview of the Fast Autoworks stuff…

SpoCom 2009 Coverage…Part 2…

Back with part 2 of SpoCom 2009 coverage….So after I made my way back to where our group was, we decided to head out to get some food and kill some time…

We walked out of the convention center and went across the street to The Pike. I think we spent a good 15 minutes being undecisive on what to eat until we ended up at Islands…

We didn’t have to wait long before we got our table. On the way in Salem ran into the N1 Concepts guys and told them that we would stop by and check out their time attack S2000 on our way back…

The food was pretty good, I’m not gonna lie…

Armando stopped by for some fries…

As promised, we went to go check out the N1 S2000. Funny thing about this car is that it was supposed to be inside with an N1 Concepts booth but it like ran out of gas or something and got stuck outside. Haha. Shits sick though. I never got to take a really close look at it until SpoCom. It’s the real deal…

Headed back inside and decided to walk around and take some more pics. Here’s Nitt’s S2000. I actually took like 4-5 pics of this car but they all came out pretty whack and this was the best shot I had…

Clean ITR that was near us…

Saw this guys staring at Brian’s RSX for a while…

This is the same hatch that I saw at the JTuned meet a couple months back. Definitely an interesting color and with a K under the hood…

Flat-white RSX…

A couple other shots of Salem and Brian’s rides since there weren’t too many Hondas at the show…

Salem showing Dude Blvd how it’s really done. Hot Stuff Intl. is the original male exploitation crew son….Get your game right…

Then it came time for awards…

From what I remember off the top of my head, Sheepey won Best Acura and 2nd place JDM class, Nasif won 1st place Honda, and Mikeyyyy won 3rd place JDM. The guy wasn’t even by the stage when they announced it so he had no idea he won. We had to get Sid up there to pick up the award and he didn’t even believe us at first and was hesitant to go on stage….

I guess Mikeyyyy was happy about it. Probably more confused than anything haha….Tina seemed to enjoy it though…

That was about it as far as Hondas go. I’ll just throw in some random non-Honda content since I was messing around with the camera and took pics of shit that caught my eye…

The 5Axis GS is so sick…damn…I things I would do to this car. I would take it out for a nice dinner, walk it back to the door, and treat it respectfully….haha…Anyways, things is crazy. So many subtle touches…

This is my boy Billy’s IS300. It got fuckin’ robbed at SpoCom too. No Lexus class two years in a row? Makes no damn sense. How are you gonna have every class imaginable including a JDM class but not have classes that cover all makes? Lexus class is pretty important. I don’t know much about car shows but I think the Lexus turn-out is definitely evident….

This female-owned TC is ridiculous…It used to be pink I believe….

Still waiting for more done-up Yaris’…Such cool little cars…especially the 5-door hatchbacks…

This bike at the Heavy Hitters booth was fuckin crazy. Supercharged with Killerglass gas tank and hard pipes…

Thought I’d throw in a Skyline pic…I took this while I was snapping pics of the Spoon’d out black S2k…

The chinese in me says I want this badly. Love the wheels and stance. Someday…okay, probably never…but maybe…when its like 2021 and these things go for 2k haha…

Baddest GS out there right now…I’m callin it. Everything about this build is incredible….

Biggest kitsuna I have ever seen in my life…You can beat someone’s ass with that rope or perform some auto-erotic asphixiation with that shit…yeah I know too soon…=/

Gonna make like a fetus and get outta here….Looking forward to next year’s Spocom…

I’m out….

SpoCom 2009 Coverage…Part 1…

Let me begin by saying this: The show looked like it was completely undersold. I guess that’s why spots so old so fast because they didn’t want to exceed their expected profit because they would have had to forfeit 20% of it back to the Long Beach Convention Center. That’s what I’m assuming anyway since we learned that this happens back when we originally planned to put a car show together. Anyways, large sections of it were completely empty and could have been filled with cars. Also, I find it kinda weird that they screened cars yet certain cars inside the building had stock wheels or were largely incomplete. That used to happen with HIN also so I guess it happens. Other than those two things, I thought it was a pretty good show. Turn-out looked great and quality of cars was pretty good (with the exception of what I mentioned before). Oh another issue was the horrible judging but that has already been addressed by the SpoCom staff. Hopefully next year it will improve because I think that the momentum is strong for this event and it can only get better. I’ll be looking forward to next year’s. On with the pics….

So I woke up around 11am or so and headed out to Long Beach to check out the show. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get to Long Beach from where I’m at since the 91W to the 710 has been closed for like a year now. The last time I tried to head over to Long Beach for an event ended with the same result. I was just driving all over the fucking place trying to figure out how to get there. I somehow managed to make it over there after a 40 min drive even though I’m actually only like 20 min away. I hate getting lost. By the time I got there all the lots were full and I had to go park all far and shit…

I walked in and went to go find the homies before I walked around to look at cars…

Salem and Murdock were the first two Doods I ran into and they were just hanging out and shooting the shit with some industry people…

Mikeyyyy was whoring himself out at the Autoimportcraze.com booth with all kinds of stickers on his windshield….

DC5*Brian was parked right across from Salem and Mikeyyyy. Brian is a cool guy rule breaker and didn’t even take into consideration that this was an indoor show and they have gas regulations. He decided to shit his money away and show up to the venue with a full tank of gas and ended up having to drive back to his house and to the venue again just to burn all his gas off until there was a 1/4 tank left. Somewhere along the way he also cracked his bumper in the process….

Norman aka Octodad was hanging out and looked super happy that Brian and Nancee were taking care of his kids…

After talking to them for a little bit I kinda walked off on my own to take pics…

I love this S2000. I’ m not gonna front. Everytime I see this thing I stop by to take a look at it. Even if nothing has changed on it, I always stop to take a look. It’s perfect in that it is basically spot on in terms of how Spoon would build an S2000. Excellent execution…

Nasif’s Civic ended up winning Best Honda overall. Congrats and a big thumbs-up…

Ryan came all the way down from Norcal to show at SpoCom. I was talking to him online the night before roll-in and actually helped him find a hotel to stay at. I’m always down to help out a Chronicles supporter haha… Too bad he cracked his Mugen bumper on the way down. Thanks for making the trip down and always representing the site…

Bisi’s Insight…I’m still waiting on that Outback sponsorship…sounds like it would be some meaty goodness…

Sid somehow ended up all the way on the other side of the building with Chase and HBK Jon’s car. I just wanted to say something real quick about this DA. I heard somewhere I think around the time of the Eibach meet that someone said Sid’s DA was too “plain”. That really speaks volumes about how far Phaze2 and Honda wheel fitment has gone. Imagine that a couple years ago, this fitment would seem almost extreme by Honda standards. People were jocking this type of fitment and stance back then and now people are saying that this set-up is “plain”. I guess with the other guys running 9-wide and 0 offsets now, this would seem less aggressive now that the bar has been set higher. But “plain”? No sir. There’s DAs out there that are still trying to pull off this type of stance and Sid’s DA almost makes it look too easy…

I’ll be honest, I was a little shocked when I first saw HBK Jon’s color change at Eibach. The color change was pretty drastic compared to his old set-up and the color choice kinda threw me for a loop. I’m not saying I didn’t like it, because I really do. I just hadn’t seen this color combination before. Since no one was around and I wasn’t standing in the blazing heat, I actually got to take a much closer look at it and it’s definitely starting to grow on me more and more…

Chase’s CR-X. I don’t know what’s going on but I think Chase is still going through puberty. I saw him at Spocom and for some reason he looked like he grew taller. Strange. Some people are just late-bloomers I guess…haha….

Skunk2′s EK. These guys are one of the few guys out in the industry still devoting 99% of their time to Hondas. Support Skunk2 guys. They’re helping Hondas stay relevant…

JDM Wong from Super Street Magazine’s EF hatch. I love how period-correct it is. If you see him make sure to go up to him and ask him lots of questions, he loves it when you do that…haha. Make sure to be overly detailed and eat up alot of his time too!…

Next to it was Project Car magazine’s CR-X project. I didn’t get a chance to get a good pic of it at the Eibach meet but this thing looks amazing. I love the SSR EX-C Neos….great fitment and stance on this thing….

Congrats to Sheepey for winning Best Acura at the event. One of the few rewards that day that actually went to the right person. I wish I didn’t have the uncontrollable shakes and could actually take a complete shot of his car without it coming out blurry and shit. The award was very well deserved though. Sheepey’s attention to detail is pretty amazing…I saw him on the way home and broke him off in the 4Runner though. My K&N air filter was just to sick…

Hmm…I’m a little puzzled by this one. I think I said the same thing when I saw it in Norcal at WekFest. I almost want to see these wheels on HBK Jon’s car haha…

Nice set-up…

Always a pleasure to see this TSX at the shows. It wins something every time and it’s definitely deserving…

I headed back over to where our group was and saw gas-guzzling Yao Ming showing off his car to Sid…

Salem and them wanted to eat so I’ll stop here for now. I would post all the pics but some of you guys hate it when I post too many pics at once cuz it freezes up your phones or something. Before I go though, I thought I’d show this to you guys…

So Salem, Murdock and I were just sitting by the TSX shooting the shit when we noticed this one dude standing by the car and he was straight creepin’ on the Autoimportcraze booth….

He was trying to pretend like he was texting or whatever, but it was obvious that he was hawkin some chick or something at the booth. He had to have been standing there for 20-25 minutes filming or taking pics with his phone. We were wondering what he was looking at the whole time and there wasn’t really anyone even at the booth at the time. The models or whatever were off doing some shit on stage and there was like a girl drinking a Red Bull or some shit and this dude was just hawkin’ her the whole time. Haha, it was so weird. I guess he kinda caught on that we were watching him…

…and so he moved to another spot and was doing the same shit. It was so weird! Haha. Murdock and I were like “What the fuck is this guy doing?”…

Watermelon shoes motherfucker….ha, back tomorrow with the rest of SpoCom 2009…

SpoCom Coverage Coming Soon…

Well the SpoCom show has come and gone and I’ll have coverage as soon as I find the time to edit and get all of them up. I’m loaded up with work right now and trying to finish up features for a couple mags. I’ll get the pics up as soon as I can and congrats to all the winners even though some of them were head scratchers….HeyMikeyyyy 3rd Place “Best JDM”? WTFLOLBBQ???!!

This weekend…

The annual SpoCom show is this Sunday. If you guys want to head out to a good show with some nice cars, make sure to go check it out. I’ll be there to cover the event at some point during the day so if you guys want to say what’s up or pick up some stickers from me, make sure to look for me. I’m not hard to spot. I barely picked up a new batch of stickers tonight so I’ll have some on hand if you want to purchase some from me. That’s about it. See you guys there for those who are showing….Wear your Chronicles shirts too. Maybe try wearing them once for something other than when you wash your car or clean your bathroom.

Exclusive Content…Big Mike’s Prelude build…Part 5…

This guy…always taking Myspace pics even if he doesn’t have an account….Well things have slowed down a bit due to work and school for Big Mike but he did find some time to take some stuff apart and wash the car even though it was in pieces…

Header and downpipe came off today…

Slightly used RMF header anyone?….

That’s love right there.

In the words of Big Mike:

I can’t let my car be dirty, even when it’s getting torn apart… -

Back with more as it comes…

Thanks Charter Communications….

…for having shitty internet that was down for the majority of the night. I’ll be back later with something. Stupid Charter. Everytime I call their tech line they have a recorded message stating that there’s a outage in my area and they’ve sent technicians out to repair it. Uhh…what kind of technician takes fucking 6-8 hours to repair a connection? WTF.

Exclusive Content…Big Mike’s Prelude build…Part 4…

More teardown in this section and the beginning of some line work…on with the pics shall we?…

The rollbar had to come out because the rear seats and all had to go…

…All the unnecessary wiring was on it’s way out as well…

Rywire himself was on hand to custom make the fuel and brake lines…

Mostly pics today, more to come later…

An Inter-”Lude”…Big Mike drops by to say a few words…

I actually got a couple hundred things going on this week so I figured I would let the man behind the Prelude rebuild himself, Big Mike, speak on his own behalf. It’s rare to see a build spotlighted on a site like this and broadcasted exclusively to it’s readers. Usually you get a couple snippets here and there and boom, you got the finished product. This one will be different. We’re taking you from the beginning to it’s eventual debut at Nisei Showoff and though some aspects will be left to the imagination until then, we’ll try to bring you as close as we can with the details. Big Mike and I think that we have a good thing going here and I couldn’t be happier to be the home of his build. We just want to thank you guys now for reading and hope that you’re as excited for the finished product as we are. I’m gonna hand it off to Big Mike now so he can say a few things….

Vision. Drive. Passion. Work. Blood. Sweat. Love. All of these words
describe what we do, how we do, what we feel, how we feel, and who we
are. And when it comes to our cars, well, I’m sure that all of you
know what I’m talking about.

The Prelude. Ironically fitting words to describe this build covered
here on The Chronicles. I am always thinking, planning, envisioning,
working, saving, watching, and learning. The intelligence, ingenuity,
artistry and creativity that has sprung up within the world of the
elite Honda enthusiast is absolutely amazing to me, and I feed on it.
This new vision that I have for my Prelude is the culmination of ideas
and inspirations and time and money, all of which are flying around,
colliding with each other causing collisions and explosions that lead
to more… and more… and more. It is a never-ending process, and I
love it.

With this rebuild of my Prelude, I have aligned myself with
respectable, reputable, hardworking companies and individuals who
share the same work ethic and passion as me, and I have been honored
by them in return in that they have given me their respect as well. I
am collaborating heavily with a man and a company that I highly
respect and admire, and our business dealings have led to a
sponsorship and more importantly, a friendship. Bisi Ezerioha and
BISIMOTO Engineering will be the title sponsor of the Prelude and I
couldn’t ask for anything more in a company, and neither can you. Take
the time to check out www.Bisimoto.com and check out their new
facility located at 1916 S. Lynx Place, Ontario, CA 91761. Another
person and company that is heavily involved in the Prelude rebuild is
Ryan Basseri of RyWire.com. After seeing his work on multiple cars
that caught my attention, I started paying closer attention and
scrutinizing the man and his company, and the result is a
collaboration. The end result speaks for itself. Ryan’s skills in
wiring are very well known, but what isn’t well known is his skill in
custom brake lines and fuel setups, amongst other things. All of his
talents and abilities are being utilized in this build, and without
his help it would be excruciatingly difficult to meet the strict
deadlines that I have set for myself. Take the time to check out
RyWire.com.

Discussion happens right here: http://nwp4life.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=32206

Thank you for reading my thoughts and words, there is more to come.
Till then, God bless.

Were you reading that whole thing in Big Mike’s voice in your head? Haha, creepy ain’t it!…More progress pics coming real soon…

Exclusive Content…Big Mike’s Prelude build…part 3…

Hmm…not sure what happened here but at the pace Big Mike is going with this build, it almost isn’t surprising…

The F20B is now officially out, clearing the way for the entire bay to be stripped down…

One of the first things that had to come out after the engine was the gigantic ABS unit. Having ABS is good of course but not for this kind of build. The OE Honda ABS unit is so bulky and comes with so many extra lines that there’s no way to have a completely cleaned and tucked bay with it in there. Not to mention that extra fusebox and wiring that’s required to run the entire ABS unit…

Fusebox out…

Brake booster, master & slave cylinder, hard lines, all out…

Gutted.

Here’s a shot of Big Mike’s arm after it got caught up on some cut hardlines. It’s bleeding arm hair haha…

Once the bay was completely stripped, the attention turned to the interior. The dash, carpet, and seats are all coming out…

Yes, I’m also wondering why there’s a clothes hanger just chillin under the carpet…

That’s it for now. With the work week coming up, the progress may slow down just a tad because Big Mike actually has a job and school…but to give you guys an idea of what’s coming next…

New parts…

…and custom brake and fuel lines…

Thanks for looking.

Exclusive Content…Big Mike’s Prelude build…Part 2…

Back with Part 2 of Big Mike’s rebuild…

Most of this section is just based on the teardown of the Prelude. Big Mike is really goin to work on this thing basically devoting all his time outside of work to get this car done in time for Nisei. He spent alot of time over at Bisimoto wrenching on his car and waiting for the influx of parts to roll in. Sorry for the minor delay, we had an issue getting all the pics back and forth to eachother  but that has since been corrected and we can move on smoothly. Not much else left to sayother than that, the pics do all the talking…

Engine is on it’s way out….back with more later. Once this motor comes out, bay clean-up begins as well as custom line work…

Exclusive Content…Big Mike’s Prelude Build…Part 1…

Just in case you guys haven’t figured it out by now, the “big” announcement is indeed the announcement that The Chronicles will be the exclusive home to Big Mike’s Prelude rebuild. He’s got so much unbelieveable shit that he’s gonna do to this Prelude leading up to Nisei Import Showoff. I can’t even begin to tell you all the details. Well, I really can’t because I don’t even know ALL the details. Most of it is even a surprise to me and I’ll be watching the progress along with you guys. It’s an honor to be the host of this build and I’m gonna do my best to do this car justice by bringing you guys the step-by-step in full detail. What I can tell you is that Big Mike will be using alot of prototype Bisimoto parts and the entire car will get a full respray in a different color. It’s gonna be wild, trust me…Just looking at the header is crazy enough. It looks like a chinese woman’s foot back in the early ages when they did foot-binding… Fucking. Serious.

Take a good look at this bay because it’s not gonna be the same ever again…

The majority of part 1 will just focus mainly on the disassembly of the ‘Lude…

Everything is coming off…fenders, sides, etc….With all the custom stuff that’s gonna go into the engine bay, it’s best to remove anything that’s not essential…

You can see how much detail was paid to this build originally just by seeing how clean everything is when parts are off the car. I mean, the parts that you would never even see are cleaner than most people’s cars on a good day…

Here’s a test-fit of the custom Bisimoto header. This is basically just for fitment purposes and a preview for everyone. The final header will be coated and refinished so it will look even more ridiculous…

A closer look…

Be back with the second part as soon as I get it from Mike. Big Mike himself will be stepping in to say a few words and give you guys an idea of what runs through his head on a build of this caliber….I promise he’ll attempt to be as entertaining as the good looking guy that runs this site…

Big announcement tomorrow…

Got some exclusive stuff coming up for you guys. Ever since I started this whole thing I’ve always wanted to give you guys an inside look at the Socal Honda community. This site started out so small and it’s gotten bigger than I could have ever thought. With the help of my peers and homies around me, I am able to bring you some real indepth and behind-the-scenes stuff. I am very thankful to them for contributing to my life and to this site everyday. The Chronicles would not be the same without them. Tomorrow will mark another moment when I bring you content that will NOT be seen ANYWHERE ELSE. I guarantee it. Stay tuned, we’re doing “big” things around here. You shouldn’t expect any less….

Like clockwork…

I guess it shouldn’t really come as a surprise to anyone that’s been following the Redline Time Attack series but Loi Song and Sportcar Motion have done it again. Piloted by Tim Kuo, the Sportcar Motion Civic ran a best time of 1:29.693, making it the Modified FWD champion. The new set-up with a Kraftwerks S/C proved to be deadly and the car that placed 2nd in the class ran almost 7 seconds slower. No other vehicle in the entire Modified class, FWD, RWD, or AWD, ran a better time other than the Harman Motive Impreza….

I actually had dinner with Loi and Morgan a couple nights before the event and was told that Tim Kuo hadn’t even driven the hatch with the new S/C set-up prior to a day before. Imagine the type of numbers it would get once Tim gets futher seat-time…

On another note, running the S/C set-up for the first time caused some heating issues as the half-sized radiator couldn’t handle the work load. Even though they could have just shut it down and decided to not run anymore, they decided to persevere and took some drastic measures to solve the issue. The result of those measures are evident in the pictures….

Taking a chunk out of the front bumper definitely made the difference and allowed for two more runs that ultimately helped Sportcar Motion win the Modified FWD class. Whatever works right? Knowing Loi, he’s probably got a couple extra bumpers laying around the shop anyway…

Big Congrats to the Sportcar Motion crew for doing big things and keeping Hondas relevant in the racing world. 1:29 and counting…More from Song and the crew as the Castrol Syntec Top Car Challenge approaches…
