The Chronicles© – No Equal Since 2008 | www.stickydiljoe.com

There Is No Rival, Because There Is No Equal.

Welcome back everybody to part 3 of the Nisei Showoff 2012 coverage. I know the previous days had a lot of heavy reading involved but today I’ll leave more time for you guys to go through the photos since the photos today are more “detail-oriented”. One of the great features of any Honda build is that they are detail-heavy and a majority of the Hondas in the GENERATIONS group deserved to be studied closely. Though simplicity is always important, the minor details are what really sets a great Honda build apart from the next. The bar has always been set very high for the Honda community but as we get older, I feel that it is important to remind the newer, younger guys that attention to detail is key. It seems these days that everyone is into the flashy, gaudy shit that people are willing to take short-cuts for shock value instead of producing something with quality in mind. I know many of you don’t like the whole stance thing but it is something that I’ve learned to embrace. There are cars that are terribly over done and are trying way too hard for “street cred” but I think aggressive wheel fitment and “stance” can be a good thing. I mean, if you take the time to do bodywork and actually try to make the wheels fit, it changes the whole look of the car. It’s when people just hammer the shit out of their fenders and fuck up body panels in an attempt to fit some ugly ass wheels is when things start to go in the wrong direction. I personally have a VIP build myself so I understand the whole stance and stretched tire style. There comes a point when things get overboard when cars just look stupid. There’s a difference between experimenting and trying too hard, let’s just remember that, okay?… I don’t understand the whole bike rack thing and sticker-bombing and that’s why you won’t see any of that garbage ever in the GENERATIONS line-up. If I ever do decide to do this again and I have to include builds of all types from different eras, I think I’ll go ahead and conveniently forget about the whole bike rack/tow hook charms/haggered fenders/sticker bomb period, haha. I might have amnesia and lose that part of my memory if it ever happens… I would rather go and find some cars with Black Widow body kits and shit before I’ll include any of that stuff in my line-up…

Today’s photos consist of a lot of engine bays and detail shots. Many of you will appreciate it because you’re probably like me and notice little things here and there about people’s builds. Some of you may be just starting out on your build journey and will be able to learn some things from the cars you see here in the GENERATIONS line-up. Either way, I wanted to make sure to show my deepest appreciation for the Hondas built with quality in mind. There are enthusiasts who build cars for a hot minute, and there are enthusiasts who build for themselves and produce timeless masterpieces. Which one are you?… I’m not here to tell you how to do things. I’m just merely presenting a point of view. If you don’t agree then you don’t, but don’t get mad if you don’t see your car on here because there is probably a reason why you’re not….

With that said, here are the photos… I’ll try to come up with some long, drawn-out story tomorrow, haha….

Oh, before I forget, a bunch of you have been asking me if I still have the GENERATIONS decals available since you weren’t able to go to Nisei Showoff. Well, I actually do have some left because I made extras knowing that people might want to hold onto one for safe keeping. If you want to purchase one and also support the site and the GENERATIONS movement, click the link below to pick one up for yourself. From what May tells me, a lot of people picked up more than one at the show because they wanted to get extras for their friends. I’m never going to make these again since this was a one-time thing so make sure to get one while they last…

GENERATIONS 2012 Limited Edition Decals Available Here….

Now, onto part 3. The photos get progressively better in my opinion. The later parts will include more of the people and what went on at the event instead of just cars, which I know a lot of you like seeing. Also the sun was going down so the lighting was less harsh and easier on the eyes, hence producing better photos. Make sure to come back for more…

Three very important Civics that helped shape our community. Jorge’s EG will forever be a timeless work of art, Mike G’s continues to evolve through time, and Jon Tanji’s influence is still very much seen today even though he passed away 7 years ago… Speaking of Jon, here is a photo of him when he was still around with the same Civic in the background as you see above…

jontanji

…as you can see, the car is remained basically untouched since then. That was shot in front of his garage where he often worked on his friend’s cars, hence the name “DOHC Garage”… It was an honor to have his Civic out there at GENERATIONS after hosting Chad’s old EG in last year’s GENERATIONS line-up, which was a Honda that he did a ton of work on…

IMG_2792-Edit

It was a great moment for me to see the GENERATIONS sticker on his window. I couldn’t say enough good things about his friend Mike for taking the time to bring the car out…

IMG_2791-Edit

I was happy to see Mike G finally get those custom Sprint Hart CP-Rs on his Civic for Nisei. I don’t not like Enkei PF01s, I just didn’t feel that they were a good fit for his car, especially after running all those different sets of classic Japanese wheels over the years….

IMG_2842-Edit

They aren’t terribly aggressive but these Sprint Harts have been re-barreled and refinished. It’s very subtle and shows that you can re-do a classic wheel and not make it all crazy wide and awkard looking…

IMG_2837-Edit

Love the Mugen NR10Rs on Jorge’s Civic. He’s got a couple of different wheels in his collection but this will always be a favorite look of mine for his gold EG…

IMG_2762-Edit

I spoke to Kane today and he told me that he originally hadn’t planned on bringing his Civic coupe out for this year’s Nisei. He had discussed it with his friends since the car hadn’t changed much lately but was committed to bringing it out after I invited him to be in GENERATIONS. Kane’s Civic doesn’t have to change ever again and I think it will always be an important build in our community… It’s a show car, track car, and everything in between… Probably one of the most powerful N/A CTR motors I’ve ever seen as well… If you read his Super Street feature then you probably remember that he was carjacked at gunpoint one time and managed to get his coupe back. The guy has been through everything with his EJ1 and it was important for him to be there…

IMG_2766-Edit

If you were a casual observer at a car show, you’d probably be scratching your head and asking yourself why this Integra was even at a show, considering the condition it was in. Well, the owner of this Integra Type R is Elton Lo from Raceline USA. He is also a very important part of our community’s rich history and he is also a very unique and interesting guy, to say the least. This ITR is like this because he’s never been much of a show car guy and he actually utilizes all the baller Japanese parts show car guys strive for. Out of the 77 Hondas in the GENERATIONS group that day, other than Andy Hope and Tom Attack’s Hondas, this is perhaps the most versatile. Elton has used this ITR for drag racing, road racing, and even set the land speed racing record back in 2005 at El Mirage… He’s always been more focused on racing than “hard parking” so it was cool to have him out there at Nisei with his ITR…

IMG_2763-Edit

Elton also helped to add a nice little collection of race-bred Hondas into the GENERATIONS mix. I wanted to have a little bit of everything so I made sure to include not only great show cars, but also formidable race cars. Above is Joseph Bundalian’s ITR…

IMG_2765-Edit

Xuan’s Phoenix Yellow ITR…

IMG_2768-Edit

IMG_2770-Edit

…and my favorite of the Raceline group that day, Larry Luster’s ITR with a mix of Mugen, Spoon Sports, and custom aero…

One of the cars I missed getting a photo of was Jay Gerolaga’s Integra. I think I was distracted by someone and had to run off to go do something… if you’re reading this and wondering what happened, my bad…

IMG_2806-Edit

I was happy to see Jimmy from DPK out and about again in his del Sol. We don’t get to see him much these days except on special occasions so it was good to spend the day with him at Nisei…

IMG_2783-Edit

He orange TE37s and Spoon brake combo…

IMG_2796-Edit

I loved Terry aka Spriggan’s Integra so much that I found myself taking a picture of it every time I stood next to it. I made sure to put it next to The Chronicles booth too so I wouldn’t have to walk far to go look at it, haha…

IMG_2787-Edit

I still can’t believe they made that crazy ass drive down to be at Nisei Showoff… I also couldn’t believe how nice his engine bay was…

IMG_2800-Edit

The interior of Spriggan’s Integra…Note the AIM dash display set-up with the indicator lights. Very well-done…

IMG_2807-Edit

On the topic of interiors, here’s a shot of ATS Jones’ EF interior… very simple with just a single Bride bucket seat…

IMG_2809-Edit

Another shot of ATS Jones’ engine bay…I never noticed that the Cusco strut bars on the EFs are designed like that to clear the brake booster. Random but interesting…

IMG_2813-Edit

Jason Haradon aka “J.” DA interior…Love how the seats look like they could have came with the car and also the radio delete/gauge install…

IMG_2789-Edit

DPK Jared’s S2000 bay with wild looking Mugen air intake…

IMG_2810-Edit

Supertwinz John’s E-AT engine bay… He spent all night washing it for the show and I think I forgot to get an exterior shot of it, haha…shit…

IMG_2811-Edit

Big Mike’s BB4 Prelude bay with OEM lens flare. I swear that flare in there was no product of photoshopping…

IMG_2816-Edit

Like Spriggan’s DC, I had to take a couple shots of DAve’s DA everytime I passed by…

IMG_2820-Edit

His interior is just beautiful. Love the utilization of the yellow accents to match the OEM tan interior. Never been much of a fan of the Honda tan as I even switched mine out when I had the chance to but Dave pulls it off very well…

IMG_2819-Edit

Just so clean…

IMG_2821-Edit

If you were to have a museum display of modified Hondas this car and Jason’s would be the ones to represent this chassis…

IMG_2833-Edit

I made sure to stop by and get some more shots of Junko’s Top Fuel Integra. I had no idea it was also her birthday that day and I feel bad because they had to wake up early to bring the car down to Nisei. It was more of a birthday gift for me to see it there but if you’re reading this Junko, Happy Birthday and thank you for everything!…

IMG_2831-Edit

Shout-out to old school Kyosho Racing….

IMG_2827-Edit

Top Fuel edition Recaros…so good…the car nerd in me gets excited every time I look at these things…

IMG_2829-Edit

Junko’s period correct interior with APEX’i Power FC management and Blitz Dual SBC-ID plus gauges… The difference between a lot of show cars back then and the ones today are that many of them were raced as well. Her Integra may be pretty and have a ton of rare parts but it was also an 11-second car back in the early 2000s…

IMG_2843-Edit

Tom Attack’s K20 EF race car is also no slouch on the track… It’s awesome to watch this car in action because it just flies through the track…

IMG_2844-Edit

Danny Hernandez’s EK engine bay…interesting touch on the core support…

IMG_2850-Edit

Karl’s S2000 with ASM front bumper and Mooncraft top…

IMG_2851-Edit

I always wondered what was under the hood of Nisa Duarte’s CTR N1 because I remember them buying the car as a rolling chassis…

IMG_2852-Edit

Good to see that they finally got some work done to it and they can show it off… It’s pretty girly up in there but the motor, if you were wondering, is a B18C1…

IMG_2853-Edit

Nick Wong’s Civic on Sprint Hart CP-Rs…I believe he is a new Bandits recruit…

IMG_2858-Edit

IMG_2854-Edit

Happy to have RC’s EG9 Civic in the line-up as always…

IMG_2859-Edit

Mike Schietroma’s EM1 Civic engine bay with a variety of Spoon Sports accessories…

IMG_2861-Edit

Schietroma’s Vision Technica Imus seats…Always wondered why the Vision seats never had the plastic guard around the holes where the harnesses run through. You figure that after a certain amount of time, the fabric there would start fraying from rubbing… fucking random but a thought that ran through my mind just now…

IMG_2863-Edit

Snapped this shot of Mauricio’s SSR EX-C Neos on his JDM EF9…

IMG_2865-Edit

Ahmed Sulfab’s Integra with Mugen aero… I found out from RC today that Ahmed switched over to the Mugen stuff because he destroyed his INGS+1 bumper after hitting a coyote… if this were Instagram or Twitter, I would proceed to end this statement with “#Arizonaproblems”…haha…

IMG_2866-Edit

Enrique Rosario’s creamy EG…Enrique, as you all know, is no E-famous thanks to that shot I took of him staring at Titla McBoobs’ boulder tits…

IMG_2868-Edit

Enrique’s engine bay…

IMG_2870-Edit

Alex Colon’s engine bay, looking tidy as always…

IMG_2871-Edit

Gerald Reyes’ gooooooold bay…

IMG_2875-Edit

…and his BFF Chivas’ bay…

By this point, I wanted to take a break from the GENERATIONS group and set out to actually look at the other cars at Nisei. Yes, there were other cars, haha…

IMG_2878-Edit

Ricardo’s white CB sedan, a build that I’ve always liked, sitting on custom Mugen M7s…

IMG_2881-Edit

First time every encountering this K-swapped CD Accord coupe of Gram Lights… pretty nice build…

IMG_2883-Edit

H22-swapped CG Accord coupe…

IMG_2893-Edit

7th generation Accord sedan on BBS LMs…

IMG_2885-Edit

LS turbo Integra with a variety of carbon kevlar add-ons…

IMG_2886-Edit

IMG_2887-Edit

FAST Autowork’s all-motor 300hp Civic coupe…

IMG_2896-Edit

IMG_2895-Edit

Closing out Part 3 with a couple shots of this lovely EF Civic sedan on BBS RS wheels… very well executed sedan and one of the cars that I would have considered for the GENERATIONS line-up…

Thanks for looking and for the continued support and feedback, much more to come!!…

  1. Alan says:

Great pictures, I’m glad to see that you took pictures of the Accords that showed. That is just a small sample of the 120+ Accords of all generations we had show at CAM aka CaliAccordMeet. You will see more Accords at local shows and meets.

  2. Jay V. says:

Love the photos and narrative. However, like you, I am not a fan of “knock off” parts. So why would a car with a “knock off” Spoon Hardtop be a part of your “Generations” line up?

No disrespect meant, as I think the car looks very nice. But why not go for an original Spoon Hardtop?

    1. stickydiljoe says:

That’s a fair assessment. Guess you’d have to ask the owner why. I believe he got the car with that already on it but again, not my place to say. I included it because I like the owner and as you said, the car does look very nice.

      1. Jay V. says:

At least his wheels are real =)

Excellent choice on those four DA’s! My favorite part of the entire line up. Takes me back to 1992 =)

  3. oldmanjames says:

Oh he got knock off parts…*jazz hands

  4. Axel says:

Ive spotted a nice DA in the background on some pics from this meet. It’s sitting on some silver mesh wheels with no center caps. Any chance you got more pics of that one?

So far i love everything ive seen from NISEI. Wish we had car meets like this in Norway (We have Gatebil, but this is different in so many ways. Classic and timeless). My hat is off for all these amazing builds.

  5. Josh says:

what ever happened to the hasback crew?

  6. Andrew BannisteR says:

The past few days have been grate looking through these updates, thanks for putting together such an amazing show and to shoot it as well. I also looked on Speedhunters and saw the coverage of the “other” show, I was not impressed by any means at all… Keep up the great work, and thanks for being a huge part of this community!

  7. Hondarazor23 says:

The homie Son’s CD7! Dipsh*t Plating Services refinished Gram Light lips!

Wheels like the TE37 and BBS RS or LM’s are the real test of time.

  9. Calling out bs! says:

I call bull shit on that 300 whp ek coupe post some dyno videos….

    1. cpower420 says:
