JDM vs. DTM LA County Fair Showoff Coverage…Part 1…

Words – Joey Lee/Photos –  Joey Lee & Michael Cristi

For the first attempt at a show like this in this type of environment, I can honestly say that it wasn’t bad. Maybe if it was advertise earlier and word had spread around more, the turnout could have been alot better. The idea of having a car show within the confines of the LA County Fair is actually a good one. But as everything, it always takes execution and time to make it perfect. It was definitely interesting, but the turnout could have been alot better. Overall I had a good time though and it’s always cool to hang out at the fair with friends and just do random things. If they plan to do this again next year, I’m confident in saying that it will be alot better….

The grass field that the show was held on was actually in the middle of the track where the horses race. We literally had to drive over the dirt track just to get into this area and they even rolled out the carpet for us to drive over. There weren’t too many cars so we pretty much had free reign to park wherever and however we wanted to. Above was our line-up of cars that day, with the exception of mine. I thought my car was too big so I just parked it somewhere else…

It was kinda cool parking in the grass. We had never done it before so it kinda reminded us of east coast car shows and the NOPI events of the past where everything was parked in the grass. It wasn’t that bad though. Just to be able to sit and put our stuff wherever we wanted was kinda cool. Most of our cars were pretty low though and spent more time pulling the grass out while we were driving in…

Of course the usual suspects were there. There were some new cars out but nothing that really caught the eye you know. So I basically just snapped pics of our cars and what not…

Sheepey came out to chill and to show his car for what might possibly be its last show. He has vowed to sell it to pay for his new place that he’s getting and to fund his new project…

I love this hatch. So simple but yet still has it’s own sense of style. It belongs to Sheepey’s homie Floate and if it looks familiar to you, it was featured in Import Tuner two months back. So clean…

This is the homie Travis’s Fit. I still remembering seeing this at the JTuned meet a couple months back and didn’t even realize it was his because it had changed so much….I know, some friend right? Don’t even recognize my own friend’s cars and shit….

This H23-powered DA belongs to EJ (I hope I remembered his name correctly). The first time I saw it was at the Mega Matsuri show a couple weeks ago. Also another example of a super clean Honda with it’s very own touch of style. You rarely see H-series engines in DAs and it’s even more rare to have a airbrushed hood. Very nice ride. Owner is a super nice dude too…

Showstoppers 8th gen Civic…Supercharged and currently featured in the latest issue of Super Street magazine….

VIP-inspired RSX? Seems kinda contradictory but oh well, wheel fitment is not bad….Gonna keep an eye of this to see what else is planned….

Timmy’s Accord wagon. He’s always been a loyal follower of this site and the guy knows how to build Accords. He was one of the guys that inspired me to attempt aggresive fitment on my own Accord. I still remember the first time I met this guy, it was at Nisei of 2006 and he was rockin a pink shirt so bright I couldn’t miss him!….

Tommy Ha’s Go Tuning S2000….He’s been around for years now dating back to when Autobots was a huge crew and his car has been through so many different looks. The current one is definitely the best and everytime he shows, he usually places at the top of the Honda class…

Nasif’s Type R-converted 8th gen. He’s also been winning alot lately and always places in the Honda class along with Tommy…

Leon’s timeless CR-X. He’s had this car set-up this way probably longer than most of the current generation has had their driver’s licenses….

…Leon was parked with Freddie and the guys over at Auto Fashion. I remember Freddie building a Honda but haven’t really heard much about it lately. If he builds a Honda like he builds a VIP project, I can’t wait to see it…

Speaking of VIP, here’s a VIP-styled TL from Team Praxis…not bad….

Tony and the Phaze2 widebody NSX of course….needs no introduction….

I’m gonna cut it off right here for now. For the ones with the phones if I add anymore pics, it’s gonna brick your phones again. There’s alot more to come but the rest are kinda random ones like usual where we go eat and shit and I take random pictures of stuff. If you’re interested in seeing that then make sure to come back. If you’re not come back anyway cuz you’re probably gonna check anyhow….

Stay tuned for Part 2 tomorrow when we journey off into the County Fair…also more car pics, awards, and the story behind the Rotamaster EMO encounter….;)
