SEMA 2009 Coverage…Part 1…

Ugghhh….so many pics. Barely even scratched the surface so far but here’s the first batch of them…

So I headed out Sunday night to HeyMikeyyyy’s house to stay over because we were gonna take off early Monday to Vegas. I have a terrible time waking up early to do anything so getting up and driving over there early just didn’t sound like it would be a good idea for me. I got there pretty late and just hung out there and played Forza 3 with Mikey until like 3am. We woke up and grabbed all our stuff and took off…

I took this pic in the morning of Mikey’s collection of all our mag feature plaques. Only got a couple so far but once the rest come in, his wall should be pretty full. Just to give you guys a look at what we’ve accomplished as a group…and a couple more to come next year as well hopefully…

Anyways, off to Vegas…Got there in about 3 1/2 hours and we stopped by Primm to grab some food before we went over to help out a friend during SEMA set-up. In hindsight I should have brought my camera down during set-up to take pics because it was pretty empty at that time but oh well, next time I guess. It was pretty cool to see people setting up for the show though. First time I’ve ever been to SEMA and got a behind the scenes look at all the happenings. I even saw Chip Foose there and he was busy putting up his own shelving and stuff for his booth. That’s when you know that guy gets down. One of the most respected guys in the automotive industry and he still does his own work and builds his own displays. Also got a chance to see some old acquaintances that I probably wouldn’t have been able to see the rest of the week with the huge crowd so that was also good. We helped Billy put on his stickers that I cut on his M3, walked around for a bit, picked up our passes for the next day and then proceeded to go back to check-in at our hotel…

I wish I stayed here…haha…

But we ended up staying at the Grandview Resort. It was a time share spot that had a full kitchen, bedroom, living room, etc…pretty nice for $64 a night…

Shot of the living room…not bad at all…

Ended up not doing much the first night. Just hung out in the room for a bit, ate dinner with Billy and his girl at the Wynn Buffet, and then kicked it with the BBsquad guys for the rest of the night….

Next day it was off to SEMA bright and early (around 12:30 =P)… I’ll let the pics do the talking…

Shitloads of Camaros this year as expected. This one is on Airrunner…

I don’t know why but this shit reminds me of Starfox for Super Nintendo haha….

Ran into this Euro-R that caught my attention. That and it was probably the first Honda I really saw inside the building. Pretty sick though, notice the front hood spoiler…Maybe Jeremy will see this and get some ideas for his TSX. Then he can build it half way and then sell it or drive it around with no driver’s license haha….

Scion xBt truck…Pretty nifty idea. Bed is big enough to fit like, one bottle of Fiji water but cool nonetheless….

I was following this Camaro build on NWP and finally got to see it in person. Crazy tubbed out rear…so crazy that some guy actually did this…

…Mikey and I looked at eachother laughing and then some older white guy walked by and was like “well that’s gotta be the gayest shit I’ve seen all day…” haha….

Crazy…

I sounded this shit out like 6 times and I still don’t know what it says or means…For the record it had some pretty cool stuff done to it, even had like a fucking fountain or something spraying water out around the speakers….I would have captured it but the truck is the size of a cruise ship and I don’t have a lens that can capture anything that big or green…

This thing is meeeeean…Never been much of a follower of Bentleys until the ASI widebody kit came out for it and man, I love these cars all kitted up. Mikey said that this car was built by the Platinum Motorsports guys and was done in just 8 days time…

Headed over to the next hall and saw the Scion booth and the Scions that Ross was talking about. He went to some SEMA pre-party during the week before and had a chance to see all these cars up close before the public did…

Probably one of my favorite cars of the entire show. This Sema “truck” was built by BOWLS and even has a Ruckus in the bed, pretty crazy…Love the attention to detail. There’s a logo that’s on the grille that is actually etched on the underside and appears on the top portion of the grille reflected. Awesome detail…

Then I saw the Scion “Kogi” xD. This thing was really nuts. Had a BBQ grill in the trunk, audio, tvs, and in each taillight you can pull them out to reveal utensils on one end and sauces in the other. Can’t say I’m really a fan of all the Kogi hoopla because I generally like to keep my mexican food mexican, but this is a cool idea. I was hanging around this area one night when SEMA was closing up and I saw the Toyota corporate guys looking at it and it blew their minds. I’ve never seen Japanese people so excited staring at something without mosaic blur spots over bushy gentalia…yah I said it, wanna fight about it…

…I hope Scion Corp. gives me a chance to build a Scion next year. It’ll be a Scion xD Dim Sum truck. I’ll give it a brushed aluminum finish with a heated bed filled with dim sum and have an old chinese woman push it from the back and then try to tell me everything has pork in it…

5Axis came out with a new Scion DJ booth set-up thing, whatever you call it. The first one was sick and this one is dope too. I gotta say that those are some big ass flares but it kinda works. They’ve always had a style unique to their own and this one is no different…What really stood out to me were the wheels…

They look almost like old school Hoshino wheels but with an extra spoke…

Rockstar S2000…Then I walked around for awhile and tried to manuever through the huge crowds…

I was actually surprised by how big of a booth JUN had. You don’t really hear much about them in terms of doing shows and advertising but they repped it big at SEMA…

Gonna stop here for today, still have days and days worth of stuff to go through. Should be a busy week with all these pics going up…Oh here’s something with two engines in it, alright later….

One car, two engines and 4 dudes wearing the same thing….I’m a numbers guy, what can I say…
