NastIE Garage 2011 Meet…

Hmm…where to begin…well, okay. I didn’t really expect much from this meet nor did I really plan on going. There’s been so much car stuff lately that regular life has required a bit of catching up and I have a couple orders coming in everyday from the store that I spent most of my week putting those together. That and ever since this while earthquake/tsunami thing hit Japan, my eyes have been peeled to the TV set waiting for the latest updates as to what’s going on overseas. It puts a lot of things in perspective and you really learn just how precious life is. I needed some content for the site so I hit up Mikeyyyy, Salem, and DPK David to see if they were going. If they wanted to head out, then we could meet up and chill. Even if the meet was a bust we’d just be kicking it anyway so it was going to be good times regardless. Turns out that when I was calling Salem, they were at the car wash getting cleaned up so I grabbed some lunch with May, met up with David and then we headed out to the IE for the meet…

When I say I didn’t expect much from the meet, I meant that in terms of the quality of cars. Huge meets like this aren’t car shows and I definitely didn’t expect to quality of the cars to trump the quantity. When I say quantity, I mean…there were a fuckload of cars. Cars were everywhere, people everywhere, if you were to throw a meet, you’d be happy with this turnout because it was big. The IE is a different kind of area of Socal though, where NastIE Garage was, the location looked almost like it was ten years behind, haha. Every corner had a fruit stand, and there were dudes riding horses around down the street from the meet. It was “different”. The people are definitely a little different too. It’s hard to explain, you’d have to be there to understand. The cars were also a little different. Not really my taste but hey,  do what you do. You like the bike racks, and random spray painted parts, Rotas, broken things, fuck dolls hanging off stuff, all that stuff…you name it, they got it. Even some things I had never seen before. I didn’t take very many pictures because I was just hanging out and talking and there just weren’t very many cars that really suited my taste. In any case, it was a very successful meet for NastIE Garage/Cali Luv and they were very gracious hosts. They had hip hop performances, food, beer, and other drinks. You know how the patrons of the meet decided to repay the kindess of NastIE Garage? Well, they decided to fucking do burnouts and shit all the way down the street and turned the street into a dragstrip. Yup, classy…People were running amock and racing eachother, some fights broke out at one point I think, and if you didn’t cross the street at the right time, you’d probably get killed by some full-on drag cars that were running on the street that day. Pretty interesting stuff going down at this meet. I don’t want to say it was really good or really bad per se, it’s just not my flavor, if you know what I mean. If you want to race and do fly-bys in front of someone’s business, hey, good for you. I would have expected a little more respect but again, it ain’t my meet.

All in all, thanks to NastIE Garage for throwing this meet. I’m sure it took a lot of time and preparation to put it together and keeping hoards and hoards of cars and people organized must have been difficult and time consuming. Alright on with the pics… I’ll start off with some of the more ‘interesting’ things that I spotted from the meet. Decision making was a bit questionable and you’ll see why…

WHAT THE FUCK? – Hmm, I’m pretty sure the new Mugen Edition Civic Si’s came with a factory license plate holder so I’m a little bewildered as to why someone would SCREW A PLATE THAT IS PAINTED YELLOW TO A MUGEN LIP. It’s like contorted in a way so that it sort of flows with the lip but still, come on bro…I hope the guy didn’t shave his license plate holes and then decide to do this cuz he thought it was cool…

Aren’t corner lights like $5 shipped on Ebay these days?…

Rota Harts…with the letters done in Arial Bold font….

Picture pretty much speaks for itself…

I noticed at the NastIE Garage meet that there are a lot of cars out in the Inland Empire that are turbocharged. What kind of set-ups and how reliable they are, I’ll never know or care to research, but this car was one of the first that I have ever seen in all my years in the import community with a intercooler that is mounted off to the side. I mean, some cars use smaller intercoolers, like older 300ZXs, that are mounted to the side but not an actual intercooler that is meant to be mounted in the center. Symmetry is not something that this guy cares about…

This is also a first. I’ve seen rusted hoods, hoods with stickers all over them, and hoods with random vents. I haven’t however, seen a hood where a shocker sign was spray-painted on with dookie brown spray paint and appropriately enough, there’s also a smelly turd on the tip of the pinky…for the “stink” I would assume…Done in good taste? Definitely not…

For all the random ass things I did see at the meet, there were some pretty nice cars there. They just happened to be outnumbered greatly…

I really liked this Spoon’d out EG. Spoon everything…

Downstar Frank’s Lambo green engine bay. I didn’t get a photo of the entire car because he recently broke his front bumper and took it off and also bent two of his wheels so the exterior was not it’s usual self…

Phaze2 Arnel decided to take his Mugen RnRs off and put his BBS wheels on for the meet…

Sheepey actually brought out both of his cars to the meet…

Sheepey’s S2000…

…and the bay of his Integra, now minus the turbo set-up…

Mikeyyyy’s xB, freshly repainted…

Really nice STI on some TE37SL wheels…

Salem’s TSX in need of some new wheels since he recently sold his white TE37s…

This coupe was pretty clean…

Another shot of the Spoon Civic from earlier…

DPK David’s coupe…

VW on CCWs…

Arnel’s black 4-door…

Ejay’s DA…

Anthony from Infinit Wheels talking to Ejay and Bolt Boys Frank…

Mikeyyyy pointing at something…

One of the Miatas from Infinit Wheels struggling to get over the crazy driveway and dip area in front of NastIE Garage…

Accord Wagon with a bunch of wheels on it’s roof basket or whatever you call those things….

A little weird to see a light crammed into the holes of this Mugen-style RSX bumper…

Anthony talking to the owner of the Spoon Civic as he was leaving…

I’m sure you guys have seen this SC400 before. Here it had a close call with the ice cream truck as he was trying to get into the parking lot…It looks like it’s actually hitting the van in the picture but it wasn’t that close…

Probably one of the last cars I would ever expect to see at a meet like this…

TGIJoseph from AS1’s Fit on Work RS Betas…

DeviousCTR’s coupe…

Integra with a UK-spec front bumper with fogs. I don’t know how I feel about those sideskirts…they look really bulky on the car…

This was nice and simple. It was nice to see some subtlety and tasteful choices in parts in a sea of cars that just had all kinds of random mods on it…

Clean CR-X with some Mugen goodies on it…

Slammed S2000 passing through as we were about to leave…

We stayed for a couple more minutes and chatted before we all took off to grab some food…

Anytime there’s a Buffalo Wild Wings around we automatically eat there because we like to consume large portions of chicken wings. Food took a while to get but it was good. They have this new Thai Curry style flavor that was actually really good on the wings. You guys should try it the next time you hit up BWW…

That was it after that. Once we finished eating we all parted ways and went home to get back to real life shit, like doing laundry and taking dumps and what not…

Thanks for looking…Peace.

  2. man, this place is like 2 minutes from my house, the only reason i didnt go was because
i off the bat knew, there were going to be fights, and people burning out and running
dangerous races up and down that street east end. props to Nate for holding that event, that all spoon Civic is super clean. Good Coverage Joey, your blog definitely changed my mind about the wheels i want to purchase. 😀

  4. Joey, thanks for coming out and checking it. Wish I had stayed long enough to have introduced myself.

LMAO! Love the random WTF? pics you posted… sigh the trends. Funny how these kids keep the scene alive. :/

  5. man, those guys are really into their accessories.

  6. i love your coverage on this meet!
it’s funny how us IE guys have different set-ups and still think we’re the shit…
it’s all in the love of the sport though

  7. All I see on this post is hate maybe we all don’t have the time and money like all the spoiled little bitchs that like to redline it through the lots when there’s a meet and race up and down the street…. sorry to u punk ass haters that are mad at us cuz we work 9 to 5 jobs and and struggle for perfection to have some one that pry doesn’t have to put there time and effort into a build…. didn’t ur mom ever teach u if u don’t have anything nice to say than keep ur fucking mouth shut….. just remeber everyones gotta an opinion and to them ur cars pry a peice of shit…and karma is a Bitch so think twice b4 u go send talking shit on peoples beloved rides Bitch ass hater……

    • So to summarize what you said…

      1. The “spoiled little bitchs” with “time and money” are the ones that were racing up and down the street…
      2. People are mad at you because you work a 9 to 5 job and struggle for perfection.
      3. People that aren’t you don’t have to put time and effort into a build.
      4. Mothers teach their kids to keep their fucking mouths shut if they have nothing nice to say.
      5. You agree that “everyones gotta an opinion” but according to the laws of Karma (who is a bitch apparently), opinions are bad deeds so a person should think twice before expressing an opinion, even though everyone has one.
      6. “pry a peice of shit”?

      • Im just saying yeah u have ur opinion but to put peoples work and car that they think looks good on blast and just talk shit on um ain’t cool. I used to be one of those people who talked shit and have had it payed back in full. Im just tired of hater if Simone wants to drive around with a neon green civic and have daytona on that Bitch then so be it. Y the he’ll does everyone gotta hate….unless ur talking bout that guy with the fucking hair… im not sleeking for him….lol….

      • And never said that peoeple were mad at me and never meant I was the only one struggling for perfection and never said that im the only one that puts blood sweat in tears into a build. Im just simply saying don’t hate so hard and talk so much shit on people cuz lives a funny thing and one day hull come to hop in ur ride that u put time into and just find broken glass everywhere…. and second. This comment ain’t directed toward anybody cuz ain’t bout that shit and have already had bad shit happen to me for being a hater.

      • I think you’re taking things a little too literally…What you’re perceiving as hate isn’t really “hate” so to speak. It’s merely bringing questions as to why things are done a certain way. You said that all you see is hate in this post, and there are maybe 3 lines where certain modifications are questioned. People are too quick to arrive at the conclusion that everything is “hate” these days. When somebody doesn’t agree with something, then it’s “hate” and that’s not the case. Like you said, everyone has an opinion and if people perceive it in such a way that it’s automatically “hate” or negative, then things will never progress and people will never learn. I’ve noticed the newer generation and crop of enthusiasts call everything “hate” and everyone that doesn’t agree or questions something is a “hater”. You guys have had it engrained in your minds that nobody is allowed to have an opinion about something even though you try so hard to express yourselves and be “different”. There’s no such thing as being “different” if somebody that doesn’t agree with what you’re doing is a “hater”. Otherwise that’s just everyone conforming with one set thought. Do you know what I mean? And if no one can speak their minds and have an opinion without someone threatening to vandalize someone’s car or threaten them with physical violence, then let me ask you my friend…who is the real “hater”?

      • No I get u. Im not trying to make a threat or vandalize n e thing I dnt roll that way. I’ve already had my car beat up and hated on. All I did was misunderstand ur post and forbthat sir I would like to apologize anthank u for stratening things out.

  8. And oh yes don’t take offense unless u are a hater. Im just tired of people talking and running there mouth and hating for no damn reason…… and p.s. that m&m donut meet video is fuckin funny. People who come to ruin out shows like that deserve what they get….

    • bro (jdmeocg6), I think it’s time you shut the fuck up now. I’m hating your comments dawg. I know you put blood, sweat, and tears into your keyboard to let the chronicles know when he’s not eating new recipes at bww, he’s hating.

But seriously if you haven’t noticed a trend in Joeys post, he’s normally not nice to rice.

      #imjustsayin.

Second my cars name is Simone, and there is nothing neon green about it. Maybe you meant someone?

  9. The word “hate” and or “hater” has been tossed around too much these days. Most of the time, constructive criticism or random inquiry become a “hate” remark. Its sad, instead of taking one’s opinion positively and create a healthy discussion based on it, it evolves into negative exchanges leading to absolutely nothing.

Fact is we all share the same passion. One just takes a different direction from the other.

I dont think someone working a 9 to 5 job is in no way in a disadvantage from someone who has all the time and budget to spend on their build. There is what we call taste or flava and doing things the right way that differentiates legit builders and ricers.

Know where you belong to and be happy.

  10. I’m going to do that to my hood. Look out world.

  11. That BWW is right up the street from the house. I almost went but then remembered the types of IE peeps that show up to meets…especially when there is Beer/alcohol involved

  12. Hate Hate Hate Hate

    /Time Haters

  13. Seems like the standards of meets are not up to par and ballin’ to you’re specs even though you/people forget to realize that honda’s are the economic way for people to start fixing up their cars. so what if there are horses (which you would only see driving up to the shop from the 60 freeway area in a different neighborhood) or if you see that the industrial area of the city has not been remodeled because it is the Industrial part of the city, which is actually in progress of being remodeled for people of your standards that probably live on freshly paved streets that complain about dirty roads. in others words, if you had such high cocky expectations of such a meet, you should have not shown up at all, period. Dont make “chillin with youre friends” and excuse to have come to the meet, because obviously youre friends wanted to clean their cars and drive down to a different valley just to see what was crackin, ya dig?!

    • What the fuck did you just say?

      • I love how Sticky covers the whole Honda scene and just not one aspect of it. I’m currently 33 years old and can’t wait for you to publish a book about our Honda scene when I am 50 years old. It’s going to be like reading one of those Hot Rodder Journals. Take a lot of picture cause they will serve you well in the future, get everything you can now, don’t chump away from taking a picture of a car cause its not worthy. I’m talking about history, cause your pretty much going to be our voice when people forget about these days.

30 years from now I will guarantee someone will ask you about the Honda scene and I hope you will have lots to say.
