“Kday!!” Season 2 Japan Coverage…Part 2…

What’s up everyone…here we are back now with part 2 of Japan’s “Kday!!” Season 2 coverage. I’m happy to see that the general response so far has been overwhelmingly positive in regards to the Kday photos. Shota Mori did a great job of capturing the event and its cool to see that you guys take an active interest in the Japanese tuning community like I do. They got a good core of enthusiasts out there who love cars like we do and I just want to be able to share what they do with everyone stateside. Many would just simply take the photos and throw them up but I try to provide at least a few words so you guys can have an idea of what their builds consist of. Many of their builds look very basic to us but in reality, they’ve taken lengths to try to resemble the cars over here so it may get “lost in translation” so to speak if people are just staring at photos of a car like Masuru Tanaka’s AE111 Corolla. I wish I knew more about some of the cars because I know that even I may sometimes miss important details or the thought process that went into their creation….

If I can ask you guys for a quick favor, if you happen to view this post today, please try to post a link of it on your social media outlets. I usually do it myself so that word gets around that I’ve updated but I can’t on Facebook today because some stupid trick decided to report some photos on The Chronicles’ Facebook page and somehow I got banned for two days because of it. I mean, there are some NSFW photos on here sometimes but I don’t post anything crazy on the FB page because I know they will take it down. In any case, some bitch took it upon herself to go and report some totally random photos in my albums from like 3 years ago and FB got on my case about it even though the photos weren’t even remotely “inappropriate”. There are thousands upon thousands of FB pages with random naked chicks on there but they targeted my site for some photos of car-related content because that lady wanted to bitch about it. So, if you could post up a link on whatever social media outlets you use, I would really appreciate it. I’ll never understand why people have to do shit like that but we just gotta roll with the punches…

Now, if you missed out on yesterday’s “Kday!!” Season 2 coverage, click the link below to catch-up…

“Kday!!” Season 2 Japan Coverage…Part 1…

Let’s get it started with Part 2…

Takeshi from Type_K’s Acura Integra Type R that he imported from the U.S…. Looking pristine on Mugen MF10s…It also happens to be our banner pic of the week…

8076488690_f61894f1ba_o-Edit

Another shot of Norifumi Kobayashi’s Accord Euro Wagon to U.S. TSX conversion… these are still pretty rare over here in the states but I think in the next couple of years as they start to get cheaper, we’re gonna start seeing more of these modded here…

8076494341_a2a07ed723_o-Edit

Pretty cool to see a Volkswagen Type 34 Karmann Ghia in Japan… I can’t remember the last time I saw one of these but this one slammed on Porsche wheels looks fresh. Random but these were actually never available for sale in the U.S. but people found other ways to bring them in to the states (Not like how Motorex brought in R34 Skylines, because well, that sure didn’t work out. *cough*government seized*cough*). The U.S. is actually the country with the most Type 34s left in the world so it’s really cool to see these things around in any country…

Never been much of a fan of the Toyota Ist/Scion xA but this one looks pretty cool on Work RSZ-Rs…

8076483618_ca65a14c55_o-Edit

Another shot of Kentaro Unuma’s Civic Ferio on white TE37s…Peep the U.S. plate and NWP4LIFE plate frame…

Tomokazu Kojima’s E-AT looks great on OsakaJDM Loop5/Work CR01s…

Shota Mori snapping a shot of his own CA Accord…

Black EG6 Civic with BYS rear wing and staggered Work Equip 03…

One of my favorite Japanese-breed Hondas is Kohei Saito’s Midori Green EK9 CTR converted to U.S. Civic DX-spec… Wheels are Enkei Sport RCS…

Flashy two-toned Honda Integra Type R from Autostyle Custom…

8076482267_fb274eb54b_o-Edit

This DA Integra looked pretty interesting on some re-barreled Mugen CF48 wheels… Can’t say I’ve seen a set of those redone in person before…. I’m sure some of you are wondering what front lip that is. I believe it’s an OEM optional front lip though it does sort of resembles a Buddy Club lip…

8076474378_b8393e70ec_o-Edit

Shaved, chameleon-colored engine bay…

8076482051_2cb6571cf6_o-Edit

A shot of the rear so you can see the size of the new lips on the CF48s…

8076473754_8605939bb5_o-Edit

A close-up of the rear CF48… It makes for a unique look. The wheel itself has always been pretty unattractive because it’s designed with pure function and to resemble a fan clutch but it’s cool to see someone appreciated the wheel enough to rebuild it…

8076525024_cee08ca56c_o-Edit

Civic Ferio that you’ve probably seen before in our previous USDM Jam coverage and a car that is regularly seen alongside Tetsuya Yamaguchi’s Integra. Air Walker front bumper, yellow custom BBS RS wheels, tucked engine bay, carbon kevlar accessories here and there… just a really well-rounded build. I can dig it…

8076535978_cfd4677ce4_o-Edit

Rare to see modified Honda Vigors anywhere but this one is a pretty cool example of what potential these cars had…

8076543151_1aa506f220_o-Edit

Masaki Morohashi’s S13 Silvia with U.S. 240SX/Japanese 180SX front end conversion from Lowballers Japan…aka Brandon Burke’s Japanese twin…

8056689569_dfc219b40b_o-Edit

Immaculate Aztec Green Integra on Riverside Stitch wheels… Sitting just perfect with minor mods and modded to look like a U.S.-spec DB2 GS-R Integra…

8076542267_fa5ca61bfe_o-Edit

Love this EF hatch on GAB Sport wheels…Never get tired of seeing authentic GAB wheels…

8076541815_b61c7f2c9a_o-Edit

Tetsuya Yamaguchi’s Integra with custom paint and 16-inch VIP Modular wheels representing Yamaz Store and USDM Jam…

8076541473_ec3210610f_o-Edit

Another shot of the U.S.-spec Civic Si-converted FD2 CTR….

8076535082_bfb5c254b8_o-Edit

Really enjoyed seeing this nicely modded EM1 Civic Si originally imported from the U.S…  Great choice on those Recaros with the red/orange gradation…Also love the fact that his BBS wheels aren’t crazy wide…

8056652233_5958d43319_o-Edit

Clean Honda Prelude with purple Volk CE28s and rare First Molding front lip…

8056601914_10fcc6b63e_o-Edit

This EG6, built by 伊藤高奨 (aka Steve, haha), actually won the “Best of Kday” award last year. You would probably remember the car more if he popped his hood because he had some really bright neon green accents in his bay and also had black Chevlon wheels at the time. He cruised out on this Porsche wheels and as I stated yesterday, it was met with mixed emotions… I give him credit for trying and I honestly kind of dig it. Never been a fan of cars rocking other car’s OEM wheels but this is a very Euro-look that almost kind of works…I wouldn’t do it to my own car but hey, it ain’t my car…

8076527358_26e70897cc_o-Edit

Takeshi Kobayashi gathering the Kday attendees to present the awards. His staff included one very pissed off looking Japanese guy…

8076530000_0a15b75a94_o-Edit

Takeshi has always spoken very-highly of Masaru MSR Tanaka’s AE111 Corolla….

8076538723_09af118b09_o-Edit

…so it was no surprise that he presented Tanaka with an award for all his hard work… Random but if you look back at the photo of the Corolla, you’ll see a guy rocking a blue vest right behind the front end of the car. He’s actually wearing a Wal-Mart employee vest, haha. Talk about being a dedicated USDM fan…

8076529200_2c5df5aa29_o (1)-Edit

There were other awards presented as well but I honestly just don’t fucking know who won what but I trust Takeshi’s judgement and I’m sure everyone who won something deserved it…

8056603056_5d59aa4d0e_o-Edit

Japanese VAG enthusiasts getting set to roll-out together… Not the same type of VAG that is usually censored and pixelated in Japanese culture….

8056661975_ea86b04e22_o-Edit

The slammed Karmann Ghia taking off…

8056660919_25fc4968a1_o-Edit

…and one of the Beetle…

Thought that this was a pretty cool capture by Mori-san…

8056631616_327e3323dc_o-Edit

Clean black EF 4-door that you saw in Part 1 of our coverage… Wheels I believe are Hayashi Racing mesh….

8056618872_5e39072065_o-Edit

I remember saying that these were SSR Superfins yesterday but now that I’ve taken a closer look, they might actually be Volk Artisan Fins, similar to the set that Charles Trieu from Import Tuner has on his Acura Legend coupe….

8056582180_1cded87b17_o-Edit

Nice rolling shot by Mr. Mori…

A parting shot of Takayuki Sekiwa’s EK and Kohei Saito’s EK9 CTR as “Kday!!” Season 2 came to a close…

Kazuhiro Furukawa and friends saying farewell to Shota Mori as they set off on their trip back home to Osaka…Mori would end up staying behind and spending some time over at Takeshi’s house before he went back home…
