Hmm…where to begin…well, okay. I didn’t really expect much from this meet nor did I really plan on going. There’s been so much car stuff lately that regular life has required a bit of catching up and I have a couple orders coming in everyday from the store that I spent most of my week putting those together. That and ever since this while earthquake/tsunami thing hit Japan, my eyes have been peeled to the TV set waiting for the latest updates as to what’s going on overseas. It puts a lot of things in perspective and you really learn just how precious life is. I needed some content for the site so I hit up Mikeyyyy, Salem, and DPK David to see if they were going. If they wanted to head out, then we could meet up and chill. Even if the meet was a bust we’d just be kicking it anyway so it was going to be good times regardless. Turns out that when I was calling Salem, they were at the car wash getting cleaned up so I grabbed some lunch with May, met up with David and then we headed out to the IE for the meet…
When I say I didn’t expect much from the meet, I meant that in terms of the quality of cars. Huge meets like this aren’t car shows and I definitely didn’t expect to quality of the cars to trump the quantity. When I say quantity, I mean…there were a fuckload of cars. Cars were everywhere, people everywhere, if you were to throw a meet, you’d be happy with this turnout because it was big. The IE is a different kind of area of Socal though, where NastIE Garage was, the location looked almost like it was ten years behind, haha. Every corner had a fruit stand, and there were dudes riding horses around down the street from the meet. It was “different”. The people are definitely a little different too. It’s hard to explain, you’d have to be there to understand. The cars were also a little different. Not really my taste but hey, do what you do. You like the bike racks, and random spray painted parts, Rotas, broken things, fuck dolls hanging off stuff, all that stuff…you name it, they got it. Even some things I had never seen before. I didn’t take very many pictures because I was just hanging out and talking and there just weren’t very many cars that really suited my taste. In any case, it was a very successful meet for NastIE Garage/Cali Luv and they were very gracious hosts. They had hip hop performances, food, beer, and other drinks. You know how the patrons of the meet decided to repay the kindess of NastIE Garage? Well, they decided to fucking do burnouts and shit all the way down the street and turned the street into a dragstrip. Yup, classy…People were running amock and racing eachother, some fights broke out at one point I think, and if you didn’t cross the street at the right time, you’d probably get killed by some full-on drag cars that were running on the street that day. Pretty interesting stuff going down at this meet. I don’t want to say it was really good or really bad per se, it’s just not my flavor, if you know what I mean. If you want to race and do fly-bys in front of someone’s business, hey, good for you. I would have expected a little more respect but again, it ain’t my meet.
All in all, thanks to NastIE Garage for throwing this meet. I’m sure it took a lot of time and preparation to put it together and keeping hoards and hoards of cars and people organized must have been difficult and time consuming. Alright on with the pics… I’ll start off with some of the more ‘interesting’ things that I spotted from the meet. Decision making was a bit questionable and you’ll see why…
WHAT THE FUCK? – Hmm, I’m pretty sure the new Mugen Edition Civic Si’s came with a factory license plate holder so I’m a little bewildered as to why someone would SCREW A PLATE THAT IS PAINTED YELLOW TO A MUGEN LIP. It’s like contorted in a way so that it sort of flows with the lip but still, come on bro…I hope the guy didn’t shave his license plate holes and then decide to do this cuz he thought it was cool…
Aren’t corner lights like $5 shipped on Ebay these days?…
Rota Harts…with the letters done in Arial Bold font….
Picture pretty much speaks for itself…
I noticed at the NastIE Garage meet that there are a lot of cars out in the Inland Empire that are turbocharged. What kind of set-ups and how reliable they are, I’ll never know or care to research, but this car was one of the first that I have ever seen in all my years in the import community with a intercooler that is mounted off to the side. I mean, some cars use smaller intercoolers, like older 300ZXs, that are mounted to the side but not an actual intercooler that is meant to be mounted in the center. Symmetry is not something that this guy cares about…
This is also a first. I’ve seen rusted hoods, hoods with stickers all over them, and hoods with random vents. I haven’t however, seen a hood where a shocker sign was spray-painted on with dookie brown spray paint and appropriately enough, there’s also a smelly turd on the tip of the pinky…for the “stink” I would assume…Done in good taste? Definitely not…
For all the random ass things I did see at the meet, there were some pretty nice cars there. They just happened to be outnumbered greatly…
I really liked this Spoon’d out EG. Spoon everything…
Downstar Frank’s Lambo green engine bay. I didn’t get a photo of the entire car because he recently broke his front bumper and took it off and also bent two of his wheels so the exterior was not it’s usual self…
Phaze2 Arnel decided to take his Mugen RnRs off and put his BBS wheels on for the meet…
Sheepey actually brought out both of his cars to the meet…
Sheepey’s S2000…
…and the bay of his Integra, now minus the turbo set-up…
Mikeyyyy’s xB, freshly repainted…
Really nice STI on some TE37SL wheels…
Salem’s TSX in need of some new wheels since he recently sold his white TE37s…
This coupe was pretty clean…
Another shot of the Spoon Civic from earlier…
DPK David’s coupe…
VW on CCWs…
Arnel’s black 4-door…
Ejay’s DA…
Anthony from Infinit Wheels talking to Ejay and Bolt Boys Frank…
Mikeyyyy pointing at something…
One of the Miatas from Infinit Wheels struggling to get over the crazy driveway and dip area in front of NastIE Garage…
Accord Wagon with a bunch of wheels on it’s roof basket or whatever you call those things….
A little weird to see a light crammed into the holes of this Mugen-style RSX bumper…
Anthony talking to the owner of the Spoon Civic as he was leaving…
I’m sure you guys have seen this SC400 before. Here it had a close call with the ice cream truck as he was trying to get into the parking lot…It looks like it’s actually hitting the van in the picture but it wasn’t that close…
Probably one of the last cars I would ever expect to see at a meet like this…
TGIJoseph from AS1’s Fit on Work RS Betas…
DeviousCTR’s coupe…
Integra with a UK-spec front bumper with fogs. I don’t know how I feel about those sideskirts…they look really bulky on the car…
This was nice and simple. It was nice to see some subtlety and tasteful choices in parts in a sea of cars that just had all kinds of random mods on it…
Clean CR-X with some Mugen goodies on it…
Slammed S2000 passing through as we were about to leave…
We stayed for a couple more minutes and chatted before we all took off to grab some food…
Anytime there’s a Buffalo Wild Wings around we automatically eat there because we like to consume large portions of chicken wings. Food took a while to get but it was good. They have this new Thai Curry style flavor that was actually really good on the wings. You guys should try it the next time you hit up BWW…
That was it after that. Once we finished eating we all parted ways and went home to get back to real life shit, like doing laundry and taking dumps and what not…
Thanks for looking…Peace.
