EF Shuttle Meeting Japan 2012 Coverage…

One of my Japanese contacts, Shota Mori, recently sent me some of these photos from the 2012 EF Shuttle Meeting. Shuttles, if you don’t know, are the Civic Wagons of Japan. While they are not nearly as popular as the EF hatchback and sedan chassis worldwide, they do have quite a bit of a following among Honda enthusiasts. The Wagon/Shuttle chassis has always had this “cool” factor about it because it not only holds true to the late 80s-early 90s styling of Hondas, they also weren’t very common, especially among the enthusiasts crowd who were looking to build a Honda. Now whenever you see one, you’re certain to take a second look at them. Some are built very well and some, well, are low budget time killers until kids make enough money to build something else. There are a couple very notable ones in the U.S. like Matt Lines’ Civic Wagon and the Team NSU Wagon on Japanese Barramundi wheels, but Japan as always, has more. Enough to even gather a meet just catered to the Wagons. This meet, put together by the same guys that organize the annual Japanese “EF Summit”, featured a very solid group of EF Wagons as well as special appearances by non-Wagons. There were a couple that you probably wouldn’t really like or relate to, and they didn’t really capture my attention, so I’ve left them out. I’ve merely taken my favorite photos from Shota Mori’s set and shared them with you here today…

Thanks once again to Shota Mori for collecting these photos. Mori goes everywhere to cover events and I really dig his style of shooting. Take a look below and enjoy….

EF Shuttles converged at a local park to shoot the shit and talk Wagons…

The grey one above should make all you “stance” fanatics happy with its aggressive Work Equip 03s…

One of the more recognizable Shuttles from Japan is this white one on Hayashi Street wheels…not Rota Shoguns or whatever the fuck they’re called…

Thought this was a pretty cool shot…

Minty interior for such an old chassis…

Shuttle on SSR Formula Mesh…

Custom green Shuttle…

Honda Civic Beagle on old school Work Ewing Fins…

LHD Civic Wagon on black Mugen RnRs…

Though it was a Shuttle meet, other EF enthusiasts also showed up to hang out… this 4-door was pretty clean. Kinda wished Shota had taken a shot of the EF on Work CR01s next to it…

Black Mugen CR-X Pro.2 with matching Mugen M7s…

Really like this black EF sedan slammed on Work Ewing Mesh wheels…you may remember seeing it a couple months before from our Kday!! Season 2 Coverage…

All different styles of EF modification were represented at this meet, as seen with this Lowrider-style EF hatchback representing “Latino Pride” car club…

White EF hatchback on white Work RSZ-Rs…another car that you’ve seen in our previous Kday!! Season 2 coverage, also shot by Shota Mori…

Black DA Integra on some Barramundi wheels pulled up to join in on the festivities…

Great shot of the Shuttle from earlier on Equip 03s…

OE lenses and accessories were also made available for purchase…

Another of the white Shuttle on Hayashis…

A pretty solid group of EFs…

A better look at the Mugen Pro.2 CR-X…

Black EF hatch on some SSR Type Xs….

In another part of the parking lot was this Honda Stream RSZ minivan…

Mint white Civic Shuttle with black/red accents…

A couple of Shuttles rolling out…

The Hayashi Street-equipped Shuttle having some way on the way out…

I always thought there were two different black 4-door EFs but it turns out it’s the same sedan on two different set of wheels. The sedan you see above is actually the same EF from above on Work Ewing Mesh…The other side has a set of older Enkei wheels, I believe, but I can’t seem to recall what model it is…

Here it is hovering millimeters above the pavement as he takes off from the meet…

Such a clean example of how white EFs should be done…

Shota captured this great shot as the white EF was leaving…

Two very nice examples of Japanese-tuned EFs…

Akebono USDM has been well-represented all year…

A couple more of this Shuttle as he was taking off…

A CR-X in a sea of Shuttles…

No matter the country of origin, just a couple of Honda enthusiasts hanging out and talking cars…

Interesting re-imagining of an OEM steelie…

Ending this post with two shots that I missed earlier since Flickr was acting up and wouldn’t let me upload everything at once…

Thanks for looking. I wish I could have provided you with more info and photos but I wasn’t present at the event…
