Cruising Through Osaka With Yanagi’s EG6 and Masashi’s S2000…

Typically around this time, the only visitors at Yasu’s shop in Osaka would be me. Wekfest Japan is usually happening during this period and I’d be over there getting ready to go to the show with him. Because of the global pandemic, and numbers still rising over in Japan, the border has been closed off to foreign visitors and I haven’t been able to return as I would usually. From what I saw online, like the rest of you, Wekfest Japan was a great event. There were less cars and the crowd was likely smaller than usual, but it was expected with the way things are going right now. With Yasu being so busy with work, not wanting to catch anything, and me not even being there, he decided it would be best if he just stayed behind this year…

Quick Photos of Cody Chan’s FA5 Civic…

I’d like to say that we’ve changed because we’re starting to build newer cars but then we realized that cars like the FA5 Civic SI is already old and it just caught up to us in age. Whatever the case may be, we still get just as excited for our friends when their cars come together and we get to see how happy they are with the fruits of their labor. Cody Chan has been loading up on parts for a while now and his daily is looking pretty cool. I’m happy for him cuz he hasn’t been this excited about cars in awhile. That feeling when you can look at your car and just have this sense of joy knowing it came out how you wanted it to—it just hits different…

Ryan Der’s NEW B16B-Powered Civic Project!! CHRNCLS Vlog 2021 #2…

Ryan Der’s NEW B16B-Powered Civic Project!! CHRNCLS Vlog 2021 #2…

REJOICE! Der is finally back in a Honda!! After a decade plus of not working on a Civic, one of the best car builders I know has finally found his next project. The BMW E30 M3 was fun, but it just didn’t give him that tingly sensation inside to keep his motivation to make it anything special. When I got the text, I was honestly a little surprised. For one, he would always troll us on April Fools Day telling everyone that he bought a new Civic, and secondly, he just never seemed that intent on starting another project. When I realized that it was actually going to be a reality, I was pretty stoked, and I don’t get excited about a lot of things. This is an all Honda-dedicated episode, featuring Der’s new purchase, a quick stop over at Club Racer to check-out Andrew Horn’s amazing Civic build, and major updates on Brandon Kim’s S2000 CR. 2021 is looking up!! I can’t wait to see what Der does to this thing!!…

Jose Mejia’s FK8 Civic Type R From Club Racer Reunion Weekend…

Jose Mejia’s FK8 Civic Type R From Club Racer Reunion Weekend…

Originally I had planned to just include this in the Club Racer Reunion Weekend coverage being that it was all shot on the same day at the same time but the more I thought about it, the more I felt that these photos should get their own separate post. I know many of you who have followed me through the years may be a bit surprised to see Jose’s FK8 CTR on my site because of his association, but I already let bygones be bygones so long ago that its hardly even an issue. For those who know what I’m talking about—it’s old news. I’m just here to enjoy cars. Even if there were an issue, it wouldn’t really be Jose’s fault because he wasn’t necessarily involved in any perceived ‘drama’ that had happened in the past…

Unfeatured: Brian McAvoy’s Honda Civic…

I suppose I should start off this latest entry to my “Unfeatured” series by letting you all know that Brian McAvoy’s Civic is probably only one of two cars that I have ever shot on two separate occasions that never made it to print like I had planned. Like the other features, how they ended-up not being in a magazine was not any fault of their own—it was all on me. This was a particular strange time for me as I found myself at a transitional stage of my life and ‘career’, I guess you can say, and a lot of the work that I had done which I had planned to submit just never came to be. Looking back at these photos now, I feel a bit of regret. These photos in particular came out pretty good, in my own opinion, and I was quite satisified with what I was able to churn-out on the color-toning aspect of my post-processing…

Dave’s Civic On A Fresh Set of “Club Edition” Volk TE37SL Wheels…

Dave’s Civic On A Fresh Set of “Club Edition” Volk TE37SL Wheels…

A while back, Duane from RCompound USA and Kristian from Battlecraft decided to link-up to do a limited run of Volk TE37SL wheels for fun. With the original TE37 wheel mold destroyed and off the market, the boys thought it’d be cool to take a more modern TE37SL wheel and do them in a classic colorway. The sizing on these wheels would be limited specifically to one size; a 15×8-inch wheel with a +35mm offset in a 4×100 bolt pattern. They are geared towards the Honda/Acura market of the ’90s because that’s a majority of their demographic and they wanted to ensure that they give some love to the Civic and Integra enthusiasts who opted to not go the popular 5-lug route…

Ken Suen & His K20 Turbo Civic “Street Car” in Photos…

Ken Suen & His K20 Turbo Civic “Street Car” in Photos…

I’m always a little surprised when something we are able to put together here at the shop gets a little bit more attention than normal. When Ken Suen came by with his car I just thought it’d be interesting to hear him and Yuta chat. Both of these guys are so different in the way they think and do things that it would either become a super interesting conversation or they would just start fighting each other, lol. Whatever was going to happen that afternoon, I was confident it would be something my audience would enjoy seeing. Hell, even I was entertained to the point where I didn’t even have to say much and they just carried the Vlog themselves. Ken’s “street car” turbocharged Civic is something that any Honda enthusiast would enjoy but then you pour some personality onto it with some loud conversation and it just meshes together into great automotive comment. I think this is the type of content you need right now where it just feels like you’re hanging out with other car people and listening to your peers talk about something that you all enjoy as a whole…
