Honda Homecoming 2021 Coverage… Part 1…

Honda Homecoming 2021 Coverage… Part 1…

Hopefully many of you have seen the Vlog episode about this event and have heard some of my thoughts on it. I was expecting a more polarizing response but I suppose people are familiar enough with this event, since its been around for some years now, and have already formulated their own thoughts on it. I was never even supposed to go to this event and was brought in last minute as a guest of sorts, so I won’t be too harsh about my criticisms, lol. I’ll actually be very nice about it, okay? Because overall, it’s a good event. Correction: it’s a very VERY good event—if you happen to own an S2000, an NSX, or an FK8. If you don’t own one of those models, you don’t have to give a fuck about this, because they don’t give a fuck about you either. And that’s as blunt as I can put it. I feel like it would have been necessary to call this the “Honda Homecoming” with an asterisk at the end, because it’s not really “Honda” vehicles as a whole. It’s just those three particular platforms I mentioned with a sprinkle of Integra Type Rs and display vehicles brought in by vendors.

Honda Homecoming 2021, The Secret Event We Weren’t Invited To… CHRNCLS Vlog 2021 #17

While I was off on a little vacation in Hawaii, @HondaPro Jason sends me a message about a massive Honda event held at Honda headquarters in Torrance, California. I had no idea what it was, can’t say that I had ever heard of it before, and was also told to not speak of it until it happened. I was intrigued. He asked me if I was interested in going because he could try to get me a pass but I’d also have to wear this t-shirt and risk getting my family kidnapped if I didn’t follow the rules. Maybe that last part wasn’t true but it sounded serious after he showed me the 30-page instruction booklet and NDA to not post anything about it.

I’m terrible at keeping secrets so I went and filmed it. Here you go.

The ITR Is Leaving, Der’s M3 Finally Runs, I Drive My Q45 & MORE!! CHRNCLS Vlog 2021 #7…

SURPRISE! Here’s a brand new episode for you sooner than you probably expected!! That’s because so much is going on at the shop lately that I was able to compile a good amount of content all in about a week’s time. Major changes are going on in the back of the shop so we actually went and pulled all of our cars out—and that hardly ever happens! The departure of Chuy’s ITR may have been the catalyst to this change, but honestly, it was time for Yuta to figure out ways to make more space with so many projects coming in and out. Der’s been wanting to get his M3 going so he can finally sell it and while my Q45 was out, I just decided to clean it up and drive it around for the weekend. On top of all the cars getting moved around, we also stopped by a couple of meets and ran into some pretty interesting builds. There’s some classic Japanese goodness in there, some super cars we’ll never be able to afford, and we cap things off at the annual “EF vs DA Meet” hosted by Oldskoolhonda and Kenji from GReddy Performance. This one is a real treat if you’re a car enthusiast and an even more interesting video for those who have always wondered what our cars looked like outside. You don’t want to miss this one!!

Doghouse Garage Meet 2021 Coverage…

It seems like there is something going on every weekend these days out here in Southern California. I wouldn’t say it’s a bad thing, because people seem to be staying safe and what not, but I do find myself just a little bit reluctant at times to be out and about too often, if that makes sense. I think maybe just being a little bit older now I’m just more precautious. When I was young, I’d probably just say ‘fuck it’ and go to everything. The want for content would triumph my own best interests at times and I’ve adjusted my expectations over the years. The only reason I’d go to something now is to either support my friends or other car enthusiasts who have supported friends in the past. It’s more for relationship building and seeing people now than just trying to flood the feed with photos…

Esteban Gonzalez’s Spoon Sports K20 Fit in Photos…

Esteban’s Spoon Sports-themed Honda Fit was featured on the Super Street website not too long ago, but I wanted to get my own photos of it when he came by last weekend for our YouTube Vlog “Drive-By” series. The car has seen some changes since its feature so it was important for me to capture its most recent iteration. This is probably one of the more anticipated cars we’ve put on the site as of late and likely one of the better builds to come out of 2020 thus far. I first saw it in-person when Gonzalez brought it to our one and only Chronicles and Coffee event this year. The Fit was pretty much done by that time but he mentioned that he was having more work done to it soon. A week later, I found out that the car was actually with our friend Ken Suen. He was tasked to put a new radiator in it and to fix some things to help alleviate some cooling issues it was having. For whatever reason, having a K-series inside a GE8 chassis presents itself with the engine running hot with increased intake air temperatures…

The K-Powered Spoon Fit We Never Knew We Needed……CHRNCLS Vlog 2020 #20

I’d be the first one to tell you that we don’t highlight very many Honda Fits on this channel, but this one is a special one. We first spotted Esteban Gonzalez’s K-powered Honda Fit at our Chronicles and Coffee gathering a few months back. I was highly impressed with the collection of parts that it had, as well as the amount of work that went into it , that I knew it would be an ideal choice to have on an episode of our “Drive-By” series. Coincidentally enough, Esteban watched our first episode and was intrigued by our friend Ken Suen and his Civic. He needed some custom fabrication work done to his car so he contacted Ken and the Fit went over to him not long after the meet. I asked Esteban if he was interested in bringing his Spoon Fit by when the car was ready and he was more than happy to let us dig into it. Since Ken had become so familiar with the car, I asked him to stop by when we were filming as well so he could provide some of his own insight and also detail the work he put into it.
