A Random Look Back…Spocom 2008…

So I was looking through my external hard drive for something and I came across these random photos dating all the way back to June 22, 2008, which (If I remember correctly) was the second installment of the Spocom show. It’s crazy to think that it’s already been over 3 years since that event took place. Back then things were very different…HeyMikeyyyy still had his Integra, Arnel was barely starting to get really crazy with his red hatchback, and the overall vibe was just…different. Nowadays we have all grown up a bit and many of us are much closer than we were back then. It’s crazy that I even have photos from this show because I didn’t even own a camera at the time and really had no idea how to even use it. I think I might have even paid to come to this show, which is a rare thing these days… I only have a couple photos from the show because again, I had absolutely no idea how to work a camera then. The Chronicles didn’t even exist until about 5 months after these photos were taken. Excuse the crapiness of the shots…I just thought it’d be cool to take a look back…

Mikeyyyy’s Integra… This was not too long after his Honda Tuning shoot and when he starting rocking the JLine wheels. You should all be very familiar with him by now and know that he sold this car awhile back and is still fucking around with his Scion xB….

Arnel’s Civic of course, these were much tamer times and long before the aggressive BBS wheels were even attempted on this vehicle. At that time, his Work Equip wheels are already super aggressive and people had no idea he would even attempted to go wider….I think this was also not too long after the car was stolen and recovered as well, crazy…. Some people loved his car at this stage and will always remember it exactly how you see it in this photo…

Look at his engine bay back then…nothing crazy at all, even his valve cover was looking pretty rough…He of course later on went with the multi-colored, harlequin engine bay and eventually ended at this state….

JP’s Civic was a huge hit back then, especially after he did all the custom copper plating throughout the car. I’ll always remember it before the copper though because it was my favorite stage of the car because it looked much more raw and unrefined when he first brought it out…This car is still around but not that active anymore…

Salem’s TSX long before his J’s front bumper and rear wing…I don’t even think the J’s front was even conjured up yet. It was just very simple back then…Today he’s all about tracking the car now and prepping his TSX for this year’s FF Battle…

Jon from Hasback’s old hatchback. This Civic was really popular back in 2008…The red and battleship grey engine bay was a hit back then but many of you probably remember it more after he painted it purple and had a teal, tucked bay. He later sold the car and I think it’s still floating around in Arizona somewhere with the exact same set-up with the Work S1 wheels and Laker sticker he later put on…I don’t even think he fucks with Hondas anymore. Last time I talked to him it was at the Wekfest LA event but it was really brief so I don’t really know what the guy is up to these days….

That’s pretty much it. All the other pics I took that day at the show came out fuckin crappy and blurry as fuck, almost as if I was running while I was taking the pictures…

  1. That picture of mikeyyyy’s car had my car in the background. Oh man that was a long time ago. Still had the blitz 01’s. That was a good weekend man.

  2. Damn!! The EG was awesome back then and still awesome, nothing crazy like nowadays trends. Also miss seeing the HASBACk cars 🙁

  3. it’s cool looking back. and to think that the honda scene in europe doesn’t even come close to what you guys did way back in 2008…
i love arnel’s hatch in this state, but also love the fact that he didn’t stop there and kept on doing cool and original stuff with it.
