The Chronicles Vlog Presents: 1:45.585…

This video piece is a special one for me… I spent the past year waiting for this moment to finally happen and I made sure to document it on video for all of you guys to see. As many of you may now, I’ve been following the Spoon Sports Civic Type R for some years now, since I first encountered it in Japan at the TYPE ONE facility in Tokyo. When I found out that this vehicle was being brought over to the U.S. to compete specifically in American time attack, I was excited to see how it would do against some of the best that our country had to offer. The car itself is not a new build. It was once one of the fastest FF vehicles in Japanese time attack when it was built and operated by 5Zigen. After Spoon Sports bought the vehicle, that intentions were to bring it over to North America.

Aaron Wang from Spoon Sports USA notified me last year that they not only had planned to compete at the Super Lap Battle event, but also intended to take the Unlimited FF record at Buttonwillow CW13. The record, held by Chris Rado and the WORLD Racing AWD Scion tC, had been in place for a number of years now. The Spoon Sports FD2, even in its current state, was a very capable race vehicle that had already beaten Rado’s record time in practice. All Spoon Sports USA and driver Dai Yoshihara had to do was lay the time down officially at Super Lap Battle 2014.

Unfortunately, some setbacks occurred, preventing the Spoon Sports USA FD2 from beating that record. One year later, the Civic re-emerged at Super Lap Battle once again to reset the record. All they had to do was keep the car together. Keep in mind that this Civic was built about ten years ago, maybe more, when it competed in Japan. The car had not changed much from that point, even after Spoon Sports acquired it. The Civic only received upgrades as of this year from Spoon Sports USA. Sit back and live the entire weekend through my eyes and watch Dai Yoshihara in his element….

*I am not a videographer and this wasn’t meant to be a visual masterpiece of any sort. I am merely capturing bits and pieces of my life for you guys to see.
