Summer is always a busy season for us. The car show season is going strong during this time and these summer months are when most of these shows go on. Sometimes there will be shows back to back even in different parts of California. This Vlog Mini-Series (#7) documents our adventures during July of 2016…
A week after the 2016 Spocom Anaheim event, we set off on our journey to San Jose for Wekfest’s annual Norcal event. The Wekfest San Jose/San Francisco show has long been considered the “Super Bowl” of the car show series because Northern California is where the show first started and developed. The small show once held inside a parking garage in J-Town has now grown into a worldwide phenomenon and car enthusiasts from all over look to this event specifically to see what new builds are debuting and what great builds of the past re-emerge. We had a smaller group with us this time, and it was mainly for work. In the past we stay a few extra days to explore San Francisco and hang out but this year, with everyone being so busy, we cut our trip a bit short. We didn’t do as much touristy-stuff and just stayed mainly in the San Jose area. The few times we did go out to San Francisco was just mainly for meals with our friends from Japan. Yasu Shimomukai flew out for the show from Osaka and others like Masao Hirano from Mode Parfume even made a last minute trip to see all that great builds at Wekfest San Jose. This video piece documents our trek to San Jose, along with the set-up process on the day prior to the show, which includes many of the cars rolling-in. I don’t typically have time to do a whole lot of photo and video coverage during the show because I am busy working as a judge for the Honda/Acura categories for Wekfest so I do most of my coverage early in the mornings and during the set-up phases whether it be the day before or day of the show…
