The Chronicles Vlog 2017 #1 (Part 5): The Most Exciting Meet of 2017…That Never Happened.

We’re baaaaaackkkk! 2016 was a spectacular year and 2017 is off to a great start with my annual trek back to Japan for the Tokyo Auto Salon event. I’ve gone for the last 5 years now and I just don’t think my life would be complete without attending TAS every year. Many have come and gone, experienced Japan with no aspirations to go back again, but the country is like a second home to me and I look forward to every trip back there. It only makes sense that we kick off the 2017 season of the Vlog series in Japan because there is just so much awesome that comes from there…

This one is going to be a polarizing episode. You’re either going to enjoy it or just flat out dislike it, and I understand completely. As you saw towards the end of Part 4, we were trying to figure out what to do about the meet that I organized in Akihabara. I planned a meet last year that was pretty successful and had a huge turnout. The problem with that meet was that it was set in a parking area far from the city by the waterfront and it was just freezing cold. It didn’t stop people from coming whatsoever, but I didn’t want to put people through that again, considering how cold it was this year. I worked with some fellow car enthusiasts to find a new location and I thought I had found the perfect spot. It was an underground parking area that easily housed over 400 cars and the best part about it was that it would be nice and warm inside, being that it was a pretty nice facility underground in a popular area. The meet was supposed to start at 10PM after business hours but people started showing up incredibly early to claim their parking spaces and once the facility found out that there were cars coming in, they completely shut the place down. Some cars had already made it inside but most of the rest were waiting on the street to see what would happen. Follow along with us as you watch this entire debacle unfold and see exactly what not to do to organize a huge meet, especially understanding that the Super Street “Tokyo Fresh Meet” that occurred a few days before ended up on the local news… Enjoy, or not…
