As I begin to settle into my stay in Osaka, Japan, we get to work on some of the cars that are going to Wekfest Japan, spend a day-off in Osaka, and stop by a local car meet before getting back to work. This is just your average day in Japan for car enthusiasts like Yasu and myself. It’s been a while since I’ve been back in Chicago. Typically around this time I would be in Japan so I’d have to opt-out of this stop on the annual Wekfest tour. Now that the tour is back in full-force with a full schedule, we can all get back on the road to do more car things! Chicago is the first on the schedule and we are back to see what this gritty city has to offer!
Didn’t expect to start modifying the GR86 so soon since we are still waiting on so many parts to come in from Japan but this was an offer we couldn’t refuse!! APEX’i recently received their new N1-X Evolution Extreme Muffler system from Japan and provided us with the amazing opportunity to run the first one in North America! As many of you know, we are in the process of building a stateside version of the Exceed Japan demo GR86 and it just so happened that Yasu is also running the same exhaust. I guess you can say this opportunity was a serendipitous one.
Finally can start doing these monthly film dumps again now that I have a capable camera body to shoot with. I’ve been shooting with this expired Fuji Acros 100II black and white film for a few months now but just was never able to produce any good photos with it. I think the main issue was shooting with a very basic film camera that didn’t have any light-metering capabilities. Being that the film is 100 ISO, it needs a lot of light and I was always trying to shoot any and everywhere which wasn’t always in the brightest setting…
It’s been a minute but I had a chance to stop by Stanceworks Garage last night to see the current progress on Mike Burrough’s K24 turbo swapped Ferrari 308 GTBi. This is one of those projects that has probably taken longer than expected but it’s not like there are just a bunch of K-swapped Ferrari out and about. Great things take time especially considering the amount of custom fabrication involved and so many little one-off minute details.

It’s been awhile but we’re back!! 2022 has started off kinda crazy for us over here. Though we haven’t made a video this year, there is so much going on behind the scenes!! While we are busy planning out the rest of 2022, we provide you guys with some updates on Ryan Der’s Civic build, we meet the legendary GReddy RX S-Roc for the first time, Kenji from GReddy tells us a fantastic story about his history with the S-Roc, and I stop by round 2 of the VTEC Club USA event at Buttonwillow Raceway!!
It’s been a while since I’ve been out and about at a car event. Don’t get me wrong, there are no shortage of events here in Southern California. You can literally drive anywhere in the city on a weekend and come across something car-related. I just haven’t been out because I’ve been busy. If you strictly follow my social accounts you’ll notice the lack of activity, but my days are pretty full of tasks. Since I haven’t been able to go back to Japan, I’ve decided to take the time now to start planning for the rest of the year while also completing my third book. The book took me over a year to finally finish but I’m proud to say that it is some of my best work yet—and also currently available for pre-order. Let’s just say that there are a lot of things going on behind-the-scenes and you’ll realize why I haven’t been as active online when the time comes. I’m planning big things. And I’ll leave it at that. A big part of me has been itching to get out and start doing car things again though. Especially now that the grunt work for the book is done. I feel like I can dedicate more of my time now to covering automotive events and shooting cars for fun. I also want to be a supportive friend so when I found out that Round 2 of VTEC Club was happening, I thought I’d make the trek out to Buttonwillow…
Okay, so with the Volume 3 Pre-Orders basically locked and ready to go into production, I’ve been getting quite a bit of requests for people to acquire the entire set (Volume 1, 2, and 3) as a bundle. The original bundle orders went on sale and sold in December but it appears as though many people may have missed out. I did order extras but I can’t guarantee that there will be enough for everyone that needs one.
