First night drive…

First night drive…

First night drive down the street was a success. Been busy the last few weeks so the EK9 hasn’t been getting much attention but now that we’re back from Indonesia, Yasu was able to spend some time on the car…

One of the major issues we had with the Civic was when we first acquired it, it was a bare shell which had a fuel tank in it that wasn’t in the greatest condition. That had to be swapped for another cleaner one since it was kind of rusty inside. After we brought the car back from Wekfest Japan, we also noticed the rear main seal was leaking so that also had to be addressed. The car is still running a bit too rich but that’s mainly because the injectors are a bit too big for the B16B when it’s paired with this particular Mugen N1 ECU we are running. After a drive down the street to the local gas station to fill up the new tank, we discovered that VTEC crossover comes at 4,000 RPM which was quite a surprise. The car gets kinda rowdy pretty early in the powerband but eventually we may switch to a different unit, possibly something more modern like a Link ECU. The idea of keeping the Mugen ECU is cool cuz it’s very traditional and goes with the theme of the car but it’s just dumping fuel with the RDX injectors in there…

Dinner in Yokohama with Cody…

Dinner in Yokohama with Cody…

After spending the first few days of the new year exploring Tokyo on my own, I finally decided I needed to be social and met-up with my good friend @zerosync. He spends half of his year here in Japan and has his own car(s) so he said he would take me around. Cody asked me what I wanted to do and I told him I’m pretty much open to anything. He took my words to heart and took me to Costco so he could buy stuff for his place, lol. I mean, I didn’t mind at all. You’d be surprised how often people in Japan take me to Costco. It’s like if you take me to Costco it automatically makes the Japanese Costco somewhat more-American. I’m always there to support my friends so let’s go make a day of it…

We Bring Der’s Civic Project Out For The First Time On NEW Wheels!!…

We Bring Der’s Civic Project Out For The First Time On NEW Wheels!!…

Leave it to Der to stress and take months trying to figure out how to fit his TE37 wheels on his EK only to change them a week after he makes it work, lol!! Sometimes things fall into place and happen unexpectedly which is exactly the situation here. Not gonna lie, dude was stressed! But an immaculate set of wheels just popped-up out of nowhere and Der leaped at the opportunity. The Mag Blue mismatched Volk wheels were never going to be the final phase of this build regardless so it wasn’t a difficult decision to ditch them. After the new wheels went on, Der decided that the weekend was a perfect opportunity to bring the car out for the first time!!…

Finally! Some Major Progress On Der’s Civic Build!!…

It’s been a while but we are back with some major updates! After coming back from Japan, I took some time off just to recover and get back into the swing of things here at home. There wasn’t a whole lot going on so I just stayed lowkey and hung out here at the shop. Before Der met up with me in Japan, he actually was at the shop every weekend working on his Civic. A lot of big changes happened while I was gone so when I came back home, I came back staring at almost a completely different car! Over the last two weekends, we finally started on something that he had been dreading; installing his Safety21 roll cage. The main thing was getting all the parts over the to shop but once we did, Der tore his whole Civic apart again so we could fit the bolt-in cage. I thought it was easy but I also spent most of the afternoons watching sports and only jumped in when he needed a second hand, lol. If you’ve been wanting to see what’s new with Der’s EK, this is the episode you need!

Always Up To NO GOOD In Osaka…

Always Up To NO GOOD In Osaka…

Well this was a fun one. After Der and Kristian arrived in Japan, it was time to get Act 2 of my adventures in Japan going. I had a lot planned but didn’t want them to miss out on anything so I waited for them first. Kristian had never been to Japan before to do strictly car-related things so it was important to provide him with the best experience. Being that it was the weekend of Osaka Auto Messe, and the boys were in town, we decided to host another late night meet. I didn’t want to risk getting in trouble again with over 300+ cars showing up to a parking area so we moved the event outside of the city to the quiet island of Awaji. The longer distance made for some fun driving and of course, any time you throw a bunch of straight-piped Civics into an area that’s supposed to be peaceful, a little bit of chaos comes into play. Let’s just say that we were up to “no good” again in Osaka…
