The 2023 Honda Collective hits New York City…

The Honda Collective is fast becoming one of the events I look forward to annually. I missed the first one but have had the pleasure of going to the second, and now, the third. It’s not one of those events that people organize to make money or to spread any type of message, it’s literally just a reason for Honda enthusiasts to gather. People who love Hondas from all over the Tri-State area meet-up at a park in New Jersey, then head over to New York to multiple spots to chill and get photos. It’s as simple as that. I think the event itself is getting bigger now though, with more people coming from as far as the Midwest to come experience the Honda Collective. I don’t know if I have anything to do with its growth but if so, I’m overjoyed that people want to be involved with it. It’s truly a really fun, wholesome event. A lot of the guys who organized this event are already pretty good friends but the cool thing about it is that they’re not really trying to gatekeep or make it a clique-y type of thing. Other enthusiasts who they respect and know have nice builds are also welcomed in with open arms. This year’s was probably the biggest yet and it looks to have a very positive trajectory as long as we keep things the way they are…

Testing Adobe Lightroom’s New AI Noise Reduction Tool…

Testing Adobe Lightroom’s New AI Noise Reduction Tool…

Adobe just released this new AI-based noise reduction feature for their Lightroom program and it is just ridiculous in how good it works. This isn’t even an ad or anything, I just think it’s noteworthy to show you guys. Photos shot with mirror-less camera bodies tend to produce quite a bit of noise, from my experience, but the amount of megapixels nowadays create such large digital images that you don’t really see the noise when the photo is compressed for viewing on say, a smartphone…

Car Make Across & JJ Cup Rd. 5 At Central Circuit Japan 2022…

I typically go into most of my Japan trips without a schedule. It just works out easier that way. Things never go as planned so I’d rather just wing it most of the time and see what happens. Of course, there are specific things that I do want to do and see so I will make time for them. But, I was going to be there for an entire month and there was really no point in planning every single day out. The way Yasu works, my schedule was gonna get screwed-up anyway because he operates a lot like me. We would wake-up, get coffee and then decide what to do. These photos from the JJ Cup circuit event came to fruition randomly out of the blue. Neither I or Yasu knew that there was a track event that week. We were visiting a shop nearby and had some extra time to kill after, so Yasu asked if I wanted to make a stop at ACROSS to say hi to Joe. Typically I don’t think he is there during the day time but Yasu called and he just so happened to be there…

Seeing black-and-white in film through the lens of a classic Nikon F3HP…

Seeing black-and-white in film through the lens of a classic Nikon F3HP…

Finally can start doing these monthly film dumps again now that I have a capable camera body to shoot with. I’ve been shooting with this expired Fuji Acros 100II black and white film for a few months now but just was never able to produce any good photos with it. I think the main issue was shooting with a very basic film camera that didn’t have any light-metering capabilities. Being that the film is 100 ISO, it needs a lot of light and I was always trying to shoot any and everywhere which wasn’t always in the brightest setting…

Life As Seen Through A Manual NYC 35mm Reusable Film Camera… (Part 2)

Life As Seen Through A Manual NYC 35mm Reusable Film Camera… (Part 2)

Film dump from last month featuring many of the people and activities I was around which I shot with the @manual_nyc 35mm camera that I’ve been playing with lately. Seems like the last roll was better in terms of color but this was shot with Kodak Portra 400 unlike the Fuji film previously. Also half the shots were ruined because I somehow managed to get the camera strap into them, lol. Friendly reminder to myself why I never have a strap on my dSLR. Enjoy…

Life As Seen Through A Manual NYC 35mm Reusable Film Camera…

A while back, I acquired this 35mm reusable film camera from @manual_nyc which I stumbled upon one random night. It’s like this ‘sustainable replacement’ for disposable cameras just made out of plastic with a built-in flash and manual wind. I don’t know why it seemed so interesting to me but I ordered it not realizing it was back ordered for months! It showed up at my office one day some time later and I only had one roll of film on my desk that hadn’t been used. It was totally the wrong type of film to throw into the camera but I figured I’d just shoot with it to get an idea of how the camera worked…
