Sportcar Motion does it again at Redline Time Attack Las Vegas…

Words -Joey Lee/Photos -  Loi Song

With the Civic nearing completion at Robi-Spec and moving on to Unlimited class, Loi Song and the Sportcar Motion guys took out their new Modified FF class ITR out to Vegas and grabbed another win. This marks the first win for the Type R and from what Loi has been telling me, this car is already faster than the EG was before. Just a little more fine-tuning with the suspension and what not and this thing is gonna destroy the competition…

Loi is a close personal friend of mine and I had dinner with him the night before the event and I got a chance to look at the car up close. Man, it sure has come a long way from the first time I saw it. Back then Loi was still hiding it from the public and it was just sitting in the back of the shop all pretty like a show car. To see this thing go through its transformation is pretty cool. When it’s all said and done, there are high expectations for this ITR and it has the potential to break some records…

I actually helped Loi design the new Sportcar logo that’s now on the car. He said he needed something that was easier to read that was straight to the point and I whipped something up a couple days before the event. It came out better than I thought it would even though it took Loi and I like 2 hours just to try to apply it on the car since we sprayed too much water on it….haha…

Tim Kuo was responsible for piloting the ITR to it’s first win and he also brought out his own personal car, which is this silver S2000. It was a busy week for Tim and he managed to place 3rd in the Street RWD class as well…

Here’s another S2k that was at the event. I’m sure you’ve seen the JHP S2000 before at other events and in print…

And of course we have the AFI Turbo S2000 as well with the Chargespeed widebody kit…

Thanks to Billy for always rocking the Chronicles tee, even though it’s hot as shit…haha. Congrats to Sportcar Motion crew and Tim Kuo on yet another win…

Introducing….The Autofashion Integra…

Words/Photos -Joey Lee

So I went down to San Diego last week to go visit my parents and while I was down there I decided to hit up Freddy at Autofashion USA. I haven’t really had a chance to talk to the guy as much as we used to when we did shows together and what not so it was a cool chance to reconnect and also take a closer look at the DC2 that they brought out to NWP a couple weeks ago. For those of you unfamiliar, this is the Integra that I was referring to…

Now when you mention “Autofashion”, Integra, or anything Honda for that matter, is not exactly the first thing you associate with them. They’re known more for their luxury-themed VIP projects and when word got around that Freddy and his crew were getting back into Hondas, alot of people began scratching their heads. “Are you sure you wanna do up Hondas again?” they asked. Well…the truth is, the popularity of Hondas has come back full force and they are once again at the forefront of the industry. And seeing all these greats Hondas around definitely inspires one to go back to their roots.

Let me mention one thing before I go on. This Integra is actually one of Autofashion’s employee’s. Freddy is working on a Honda of his own but this one belongs to Bobby. It’s still in it’s early stages, JDM ITR front and rear, ITR interior,  B&G suspension, and 16×8 Work XSAs with a custom finish. Some minor headwork on the GSR motor and an ITR exhaust. The wheels itself make it shine. It’s hard to find XSAs in this sizing and finish, and even harder now that Phaze2 Sid had his set jacked recently. Anyways, on with the pics….Just some quick exterior shots so you guys can get an idea of what it looks like in the daytime instead of the shitty night pics I took at NWP Summer Nights….Enjoy…

Midnight Garage Grand Opening Meet Coverage…

Words -Joey Lee/Photos -  Joey Lee & Michael Cristi

I just want to personally thank everyone who came out to support Midnight Garage as well as The Chronicles. The turn-out was amazing and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Thank you so so much for coming out, enjoying the company of others, and supporting the community. This was the first meet and definitely not the last. I had a blast and I was surprised we stayed out for so long. This is probably the longest meet I’ve ever been too. It went from a casual meet with alot of new faces, then all the homies showed up, and it went on into the night when more people showed up and we just got together and hung out until almost 7am the next morning. Yah, haha, I know, it sounds unbelievable but that’s exactly what happened. The meet started at 2, ended around 10 or so, then we went out for some drinks, and came back and just shot the shit until the early wee hours of the morning. Definitely good times. I can’t ask for anything then good company and sitting around and talking about random stuff. Thanks to all the homies for coming out. You made this meet a memorable one for sure….Now, on to pics… It was pretty fucking hot but bearable. I didn’t take pics early just because it was so crowded anyway and just to damn hot to walk around with a big ass camera….I’m gonna post everything I took, not just Hondas. Wanna give love to alot of non-Honda guys that showed up to support Midnight Garage….

I’m sure you guys are familiar with Matty’s xB. I just shot it about a week ago and this car photographs so well. I love it….

Didn’t expect these guys to show up but it was great to have Parnell and EJ show up. They had the best spots at the meet with all the shade…

Jaypee and Tuan’s new project from FASTautoworks on display up front by the bbq grille…

Thanks to these guys for coming out…not sure who the two in the background are but from left to right….PlusOne Danny, Jaypee, Alec, Big Mike, and DPK David…

Don’t know the dude, but he had a very nice DC2…

Haven’t seen this dude in years, but Emerson showed up to hang out and to pick up some wheels from HeyMikeyyyy….

Thought I had a case of deja vu cuz this IS showed up looking exactly like Emerson’s but minus the ass end of it…

Another shot of Matty’s  xB…

This Starlet showed up to get dropped off at the shop next door from Midnight Garage to get a cage done. Such a badass little car….20 valve 4AGE and all…

Big ass dog…

Phaze2 Ross’s xB…all dirty and shit…

Jaypee rocking a big ass Rotamaster EMO sticker….thanks sir…

Doods Chris and Big Mike…

Here’s how the shop was set-up with the DJ and all….DJ was bumpin old school hip hop all day, gotta love it…

Gary’s RSX on EVO wheels…

Filthy…

So much good food and drinks for all…

Original Doods! member Kenny came out from Vegas to hang out…..He’s had his hood like this forever, before everybody starting rocking them. His just never rusted because he did it and then moved out to Vegas where it’s dry as shit…

Along with Kenny, a couple of BB Squad guys showed up to hang out too since Ross is pretty known within the Scion community…

Really rare to see a bB on some legit Advans….very nice…

Travis and his cauliflower ear showed up to hang out for like 10 minutes. Then he went home to study or something…

Arnel showed up later on in the day and brought carne asada and even cooked it for everyone….

Jimmy and his Previa also made an appearance…

A shot of our VIP projects…Still alot to do on both Lexus’….my car ehh, still waiting on air…

Alot of us stayed behind to just kick it and hang out….That and Arnel was too busy cooking and feeding everyone…

Plenty of nice Scions showed up…

Great attention to detail here with the rubber lining around the fenders. Almost looks OEM if it wasn’t for the widened steelies….Great stance…

Some of the guys from AS1 stopped by to kick it….

Teddy’s hatch…

Couple of friend’s of Teddy’s came out as well….

We stayed for a couple more hours before we decided to go to Nationals Bar and Grill to have some drinks….

Once we had the BBQ cleaned up and put away, we shut the bay doors down so we could go out…

It was pretty dead over at National so we ended up staying out for just a little bit and then headed back to the shop to hang out…

I think around the time this was taken it was about midnight or something….

Getting closer to completion…

This was the last shot of the evening, by then it was almost 6am already….after the the sun started to come up and we climbed on the roof with some sketchy ass ladder….bad idea. After I got back down everyone went home and just crashed out. Man, I ended up waking up at like 1:45 or something the next day and missed a big chunk of the Chargers game that I was looking forward to….

All in all, it was a blast….Thanks to DPK David, Mike G, Arn, Parnell, Ejay, Big Mike, PlusOne Danny, Plan:B Mike, Arvee, Jaypee, Alec, Mugen Boy Carlos, May, Ojay, the original Doods! for coming out, As1 homies, and Jimmy and Linda from Praxis….If I left anyone out sorry, it’s late….Thanks to everybody for coming out to support Midnight Garage. Hopefully we get another chance in the near future to get another one of these going…It’ll be great when the weather starts to get cooler as well….

Bidtits…Tidbits I mean…

Just a couple things for you guys today….First off, I just wanna remind you guys that the Midnight Garage Grand Opening is this Saturday at 2pm and we would love to have you guys come out and hang out. I know the weather has been kinda hot lately but it’ll be cool to head out over there to hang out and chill with the homies. The lot isn’t SUPER big or anything and the shop is actually pretty small but I’m sure we’ll be able to accomdate you. Actually the lot next door is empty so if we happen (big if) to overfill our lot, the lot next door is wideopen for you guys.  Yeah, there’s a homeless guy that’s over there, and he is fucking crazy but that’s okay. He’s not half as crazy as the angry Korean shoe store owner next door. Why is he angry? I don’t know. He’s on some North Korea shit but he’s probably not gonna be there. Even if he is, he’ll kinda just stand there and pump his fist in anger for like 5 minutes and then leave so don’t worry about him. There’s also a big ass dog next door at Wellbilt Customs. They’re a fabrication shop that’s pretty good and they’ll also be there to hang out and join in on the festivities. When I say a big ass dog, I mean he’s big as fuck. Like the size of a fucking horse. It’s a nice dog though, actually really friendly and loves meeting new people. His tail wag is pretty strong though. He once walked by and wagged his tail at my leg and I’ve been walking with a noticeble limp ever since…but again, is a horse-sized dog, angry Korean, and crazy hobo gonna stop you from coming out and having a good time? I would hope not….And I know alot of you saw on NWP that I mentioned that Lil Mama from ABDC was gonna be there. Is that true? Probably not, but we’ll try our best. I’m sure if we play any sort of hip hop song that pertains to New York, the Bronx, Brooklyn, BX, some shit, Statue of Liberty, motherfucking big slice of pizza, I don’t know, Terror Squad, I’m sure she’ll show up with her ponytail sticking out of her be-dazzled NY cap, with her arms crossed, mean muggin fools…..Anyways. Yes, please come and join us. Let’s make it a memorable one…

Next of course, if you haven’t heard by now, is that Phaze2 Sid had his Integra stolen. No, not the white one that’s in this month’s Honda Tuning Magazine, but his daily, which is pretty much the Aztec Green version of the white one. What really sucks is that the Work XSAs that was on the white one was on his daily and that shit is now long gone. They found the car in south central LA today and it was pretty much stripped of everything. Motor, interior, wheels, everything. Fuck they even took the OEM metal hood and left the DA with a carbon fiber one. I guess that’s the state of the game right now when people steal your cars and give you a carbon fiber hood in return for your stock one. Makes no sense. I’m pretty sure when the Cops found it they didn’t notice whether the car had a hood or not. Leaving a shitty carbon one isn’t gonna make much of a difference. I fucking hate people that steal other people’s shit (T_nermanuevermag *cough*). Why can’t people work hard for their own shit nowadays…If you’re reading this, you better hope those wheels are long gone in Mexico by now cuz if we see that shit on a Honda, it’s gonna be prrrrrrettttty obvious where those wheels came from considering the oddball sizing of them. Man, still can’t believe they got that shit. Oh well, Sid didn’t seem to be bothered by it but still, fuck guys, stop stealing shit….

Lastly, I just wanted to update you guys on stuff that’s supposed to be coming soon. For those of you who are still waiting on the Status Sean build stuff, it’s coming. The guy has been sick as a dog lately and hasn’t done much of anything. He’s probably curled up in his Snuggie and resting. He tells me that he’s got some really cool shit for us so I guess we’ll just have to wait to see when he’s up and about again…

I’ve been busy as shit lately cutting stickers for everyone that ordered them too. They’re coming, if anything you should have received your’s by now. The t-shirts I think I’m slowly starting to run out of so I’ll inform you guys if I am and whether you want me to refund your money or not or just have you guys wait for the new shirts that are coming. I’m working on a new design so I’ll let you guys know when that shit is finished. I’ve also been busy doing misc. stuff for friends. Just recently completed the new logo for Sportcar Motion. Loi wanted something that was more updated and visible to be present on the DC2-R Time Attack car. They’ll be competing at Redline Time Attack in Vegas this weekend so best of luck to those guys out there and be sure to check out the new logo when coverage from the event pops up…

I still have a lot of cars that I have lined up to take pics of and what not so be sure to look out for that as well. I gotta see what’s up with DPK David’s car still. Longest build ever man, seriously….EVER.

Big Mike’s should be done soon as well. He’s been working on some sponsorship stuff right now that’s kinda slowed the finishing touches down as he’s been adding new things to the Prelude but it should be ready soon….

Oh I also got a call from Jaypee today from Fast Autoworks and he informs me that they’re gonna debut a new project at Midnight Garage this weekend. So if you guys need anymore incentive to come than to hang out with homies, a big ass dog, an angry Korean, and a homeless guy, there you go…..

Damn, that’s alot of stuff to read. Alright I’ll let you guys go for now. See you Saturday if you come by. I’ll have stickers on hand for people that wanna pick some up….OUT.

“I don’t usually like _______ but I really dig your’s….”…Part 2…

Just a small update for you guys. I ended up editing two more of the pics and they came out pretty decent. I also included a pic of the shot in RAW format compared to the finished version, just to give you guys an idea of how it looked when it was shot….Anyways, enjoy. Back with more stuff tomorrow. Status Sean, get at me, dude is lagging…haha…

Larger Version (1200×800)

And this one would probably be my favorite of the bunch….

Larger Version (1200×800)

Widescreen Version (1600×900)

Here is the unedited version side by side….

I saw alot of you guys made comments about the “truck” that was in the reflection. It’s actually a stationary trailer. If I could have moved it I would have, but this was kind of just a random spot we passed by while we were cruising around. There’s actually all kinds of shit around that one spot…haha. If it was an actual truck or automobile I wouldn’t have shot it there. Didn’t think the trailer would even show up in the shot but it did….oh well…woe is me…

“I don’t usually like _______ but I really dig your’s….”

It’s something we hear all too often on the internet. Kinda stupid actually but you see it alot….”I don’t normally like ________ but I love your’s!!” Whatever. You just don’t like it because you haven’t seen one done right yet….

I’ve been practicing alot more with the camera lately and I think I’m slowly starting to get better and understand lighting, reflections, etc. I’ve been shooting so much in fact, that I actually broke my tripod. Shit cracked at the mount….now I gotta go buy a new one…Anyways, I’m still waiting for some Status Sean stuff to roll in and I’m as anxious as the rest of you to see what’s next. I’ve actually gone out and tried to hone my skills shooting other cars and not just Hondas. I really want to shoot Hondas, but I’m still waiting on DPK David, Big Mike, and the right time to shoot DPK JP’s car. They’re trying to get their cars running right before they attempt to drive it out. That and they don’t want pics of their cars in an incomplete state….Anyways…hanging out with Ross at Midnight Garage has introduced me to alot of Scions. Some good, some really good, and some REALLY bad. Nonetheless, I’m a fan of automobiles as a whole and though I love Hondas, my pallette isn’t limited. I can respect a nice build regardless of the make, model, or country of origin. Today, I’m gonna post up some non-Honda stuff that I’ve been doing. I’m very happy with the results so I thought I’d share it with the rest of you. Before you run and go to your next site of the day, take a look. Sure they’re Scions, but not your typical breed. The gray one of course is Ross’s…Phaze2 Ross I might add…Congrats on that….and the orange one you may have seen before, but not too often. Ross tells me that it’s only actually been seen mostly on Scion forums. If that’s the case, then it’s a shame because this thing deserves to be seen by the world. I know I bring you some of the top Hondas in our community…now I’m bringing you something a little different…..

It was a bit of an impromptu photo session…I wish he would have cleaned the interior and the bay so I could have shown you guys the boosted motor and the 4 Bride buckets inside…yes 4….

Next one of course is Phaze2 Ross’s bB….Yes, I know the paint has some swirls in it…he’s too busy driving it everywhere and running his business that he hasn’t had much time to fix it…Oh well, enjoy it anyway…Oh and this one is boosted also but with a Blitz S/C….

NWP4LIFE Presents Eibach Summer Nights Coverage…

Words/Photos – Joey Lee

Let me start off by saying that the event coverage is pretty weak….If you’re looking forward to like highly detailed pics and alot of them, my bad. We ended up leaving pretty late to go to the event and for some shitty reason, there was so much traffic on the 91 that we didn’t even get there until around 7pm. Between trying to get everyone into the event and talking to people, and the huge turnout, I wasn’t able to take many pictures. Plus it was dark by then and the pics wouldn’t have come out great anyways. So I basically just got what I could with the cars I’m familiar with. I actually didn’t even get to walk around at all. I was too busy catching up with people and trying to take pics of the cars up front…

Here we are at Midnight Garage preparing to leave. Tony couldn’t make it because he was catering some party or some shit so Ross, who owns the bB, ended up taking his car to the meet…Traffic was fucking horrible. Why? I don’t know. I can’t really think of a reason why people would be going in that direction but it sucked ass….halfway there and it was bumper to bumper until 2 miles or so from the event…

Once I got there and got everyone situated, this was the first car I noticed. Definitely haven’t seen it before so I was talking to Rodrez and asked him whose car it was and he told me it was actually Freddy from Auto Fashion’s Integra. If you’re familiar with Auto Fashion then you know that they do all VIP-themed stuff. Guess Freddy can build Hondas too cuz this thing came out great…

Speaking of cars I don’t normally see that often, I finally got a chance to take a look at Rodrez’s S2000 up close. He’s usually driving the Honda Tuning Fit around so I haven’t had a chance to see this car other than in some meet pics or happen to catch a glimpse of it driving by on the street. I remember him saying he wasn’t gonna do anything by lower it and put some wheels on it but man, it sure looks like he did alot more…haha. I like it though, I just never imagined him actually owning a yellow S2K….

Here’s a shot of the cars we brought out….Man, there were so many people at this event. So much so that they had to actually turn people away. I expected a good turnout but nowhere near what we saw on Saturday night. Shit was poppin….

Of course you all know Arnel’s hatch. He recently picked up some Denji headlights, JDM fogs (finally), and an OEM bra. Looks good!…

Reza’s the current Honda Tuning magazine cover car and he came out to represent and show NWP some support….

Next to Reza is Rolandos/Manties’ Honda Element…

I’m sure if you follow this site then you should know DC5 Jared’s S2000….

Teddy from AS1′s hatch…

Alex came out as well sporting two different sets of wheels because the widened M7s don’t fit up front yet and he didn’t want to risk anything. Once he gets everything squared away, it’s gonna look pretty badass…

Alot of people hung out by the projector screen to watch the first episode of Autolife, which is a video about the community that’s produced by someone within the community. It was pretty interesting, even with the Big Mike portion where he talked about any and everything….haha…

Got to hang out with the usuals. Always good to see friends. Don’t know who the guy in the gorilla suit is but it was hot as shit that day and the person must have been desperate for some attention…

That’s pretty much it. Around 8:15 or so people began to leave. I really wish I could have taken more pics for you guys but oh well….next time for sure…After the show we just cruised back to the shop and hung out there for awhile. Late at night, Ross and I even got a chance to drive around and take some pics of his car. I’m still debating on whether to throw those up here or not…we’ll see….til next time.

Oh if you guys want to see full coverage (ok, well more complete than mine anyway) go to the following two links

Exclusive Content…The Status Sean Build…Part 1…

Well, don’t really know where to begin since this build has been ongoing for awhile now….So I guess this will be part 1. It’s just a glimpse of what’s been going on and some parts that will find its way onto the DC…

Here’s a shot of the gold reflective heat barrier film being applied to the underside of the car…The tunnel had to be wrapped due to 3mm of rubber under the car being stripped off. The film reflects 78% of all radiant heat and can withstand continuous operating temperatures of 675 degrees….

All the sound deadening material has also been completely stripped away from the car as well. If the tunnel was left unwrapped, the cabin probably wouldn’t be the coolest place to sit in…

Here’s a before-shot actually when the car was running a Spec 2. Similar set-up but when the car was stripped and coated again, the gold film had to be reapplied…

New Energy Suspension Hyperflex Performance Polyurethane pieces and bushings set to go back on…

Shitty cell phone pic but it’s basically the inventory of all the bolts that the suspension consists of. Sean was happy with the old bolts so he went out and got all new bolts, each and every piece….

All new grommets and rubber pieces for the engine bay…All OEM Honda of course…

All Earl’s fittings laid out…

Preview of the wheels…

That’s it for now, I’ll get the stuff up to you guys as Sean sends them over to me…Kinda hard for me to go to Washington right now and take pictures haha…

Before we begin…A proper introduction is needed…

With the majority of the show season basically over and done with, I’ve been looking around for inspiration simple because major builds have either been completed or put on hold until the next year. One build however, has been going on for a couple years now. Not because it’s really taken that long but simple because the man behind the build is a busy man, and has had his hand in some of the top Hondas in the Northwest region. The guy I’m referring to is none other than Sean Edwards, or known to most simply as “Status Sean”. There’s been alot of rumbling about this build within our community for a minute now and alot of the hardcore heads have been waiting in anticipation for this car to come out. Some would even go as far as to say that this might be “the best ever”. Like when this Integra comes to life, it will set the new standard. Is it possible? Maybe… Will it be the best ever? Well that can be left to debate…. I’ve known Sean since I began talking to him around the beginning of this year and he’s really a character. Got some strange taste in things and sometimes find the most odd things to be completely hilarious but there’s two things you need to know about him… He’s a grinder and works his ass off on the daily and he really knows his cars. He’s more of an enthusiasts in the automotive world more so than just the Honda community. Being the marketing guy over at Status Racing will do that for you though. He may sound familiar to some of you but for those who absolutely have no idea who or what I’m talking about….this is the DC2 that we’ve all been waiting for…

I remember the first time I saw this car on the net, the color was the first thing that caught my eye because I hadn’t really seen it done before, and it was also the first time I saw polished CPRs. My jaw dropped. It almost made me want to polish the set of CPRs I had but they were so mint that I ultimately just left them alone. I loved this car. So much so that I actually bought the issue of HCI that it was featured in. Back then, I rarely picked up a copy of HCI so seeing this DC2 on the cover caught my attention enough to pick one up. I was honestly kinda upset when I found out that the car was soon taken to pieces and I kinda thought Sean was just one of those guys that builds for features and then cashes in afterward. Knowing Sean now, I understand that I was wrong in assuming so. The guy is a perfectionist and he took it apart to build a better version of it that he was happy with. If you know Status Sean than you probably already know that he’s been blogging for a while now and he’s talked about this car in detail. Again for those of you who don’t know…I’ll let him clue you in on what you’re looking at…

“This was the original idea for the Integra, Aston Martin British Racing Green (Not that new mettalic stuff they use now) CPR’s, and some other stuff. A super simple, clean street car. We ended up painting the car BRG inside and out, only to realize 6 months later when the car saw it’s first ray of sunlight that the color was soooo two thousand and late…….back to the drawing board.” -Status Sean

“We finished* the car in April just in time for a feature article in the March 2007 HCI. We kept the original concept of the car but changed a few things, and finally found a color I was sold on. there were alot of things with the car that I wasn’t super happy about, or as we call them automotive insecurities. I didn’t want to sell the car and have regets on what I should have done, or things I would have done differently. So two weeks after the HCI shoot we tore the car down to a bare shell and started over.”

“Once the car was a bare shell we mounted it up on the spit and took it to the good people at Alternative Blasters Corp. in Marysville WA for some media blasting.”

“We got the car back from media blasting in bare metal.”

“We did some spot welding on the chassis. The goal of this car was to take the idea of a street car as far as you could before sacrificing the cars streetability. I want to drive this car to the beach……that’s about it.”

“After the metal work was completed the car was sent to Powder Coating Inc. where the entire underside, wheel wells, and engine bay were powder coated. We used a new company that offers PC in specific color codes. The color ended up matching pretty decent. Unfortunately this is the only picture I have of the car in it’s powder coated state.”

Yeah, the guy put his car on a rotisserie and powdercoated it. Shits crazy…Well all this happened around June and Sean actually hadn’t really told anybody about it since then. Whenever we talked about it online, he would tell me what was going on with it with some pics. When Steve’s EK hit Honda Tuning, alot of people started asking around who’s car it was in the background of one of the pics….

Guess who? He was actually supposed to come out for Nisei Showoff to hang out for a week but ran into some personal stuff at home and was unable to come down. I thought something had happened to the guy because he hadn’t even been online in forever and no-showed the Cali trip. I just barely began hearing from him again recently and while we were talking about Big Mike’s Prelude, I kinda mentioned that it would be cool to cover his build over here on The Chronicles and guess what? Yeah, it’s here.

There’s been alot of stuff done to it since the last time Sean talked about it in June. And it’s gonna be my job now to bring it to you guys. Tomorrow I’m gonna provide some updates with where it’s at now. From what he’s told me about this car in the last couple months…I’m just as excited as all of you to see the progress.

Everybody…say hello to Status Sean…and welcome to The Chronicles….

JDM vs. DTM LA County Fair Showoff Coverage…Part 2…

Words – Joey Lee/Photos -  Joey Lee & Michael Cristi

Back for more….Got some cool stuff for you guys this week on some “exclusive” stuff….but I’m gonna knock out the rest of the coverage of the LA County Fair show….

So we left off at us going to the fair-side of the show. To get there and off the racetrack you have to actually walk under this little underpass. Once you get through that you walk by the stands and then get to the actual fair….

I actually didn’t even notice this when I edited the picture but now that I’m looking at it now, you can actually clearly see Arnel in this pic at the stands getting food…haha…I didn’t even know he was at the fair yet until later on so I guess he decided to grub before saying what’s up to us…

They had fried-everything at the fair. You think fried frog legs are strange, try the Krispy Kreme Jelly Donut Fried Chicken Sandwich….yeah read that again…

The heat was clearly making these dudes act funny…

There were so many things to eat at the fair that we couldn’t decide, but knowing Sheepey, of course we ended up at King Taco getting some mexican food. I can’t complain, he was buying and I’ll eat anything if it’s free…

Floate and his nachos…

After we grabbed our food, we were kinda over the blazing heat so we made our way back to grub…

Sheepey brought some cold ones in his cooler and we had our mexican food and beer. Then I kinda walked off and took random pictures. Nothing crazy really happened, we just hung out in the shade after that until the awards….

My heavy ass car sinking into the grass…

Alright, so here’s the story behind the Rotamaster EMO sticker. I had printed a couple just for fun and to show the homies you know, to generate some interest. I had no idea I was gonna run into someone who was actually rocking some fake wheels with stickers. Low and behold, someone, Travis I think, pointed out to me during roll-in that dude had fake Regas with the stickers. I ended up parking near the guy too so I walked up to take a closer look. I guess it was a good attempt but when you look at the actual sticker, it doesn’t even look close to being real….

Alright so the real 16-inch Regas don’t have the extra holes in the hub area so it was a dead giveaway. But upon closer inspection you can clearly see that the stickers were printed as they aren’t even transparent….Homies lug Rays lug nuts are probably worth more than the wheels haha….okay so yeah it was kinda fucked up to snap the pic with the EMO sticker but hey, you gotta expect the ridicule if you get caught trying to front you know? Don’t wanna be called out, don’t try to front…..simple as that. I hear some of you asking me why I don’t like Rotas and there’s a couple posts on here where I explain why. I’m not so much a hater of Rota wheels as much as I hate it when people rock fake wheels with the real stickers and trying to act like they’re real….

Smile, now you’re on the Chronicles…

Anyways….

Oh man, love this car….

One more…

And another one of Sheepey cuz he brought drinks and food…

So it came time for awards and we all huddle around the Falken booth to hear the results…

Leon doin’ some work on the new Falken spokesmodel for 2009…

Nasif won as usual in Honda class…along with Tommy Ha and his S2000….No surprise there…

Not really sure what happened but Tony and the NSX ended up winning 3rd place Acura class, even though at Nisei it won 1st place…Guess it shows you that different judges look for different things I guess. Oh well, nonetheless, Tony was happy and we were all cool with it…

Sheepey won 1st place Acura, deservingly and as we all expected….He placed in the “Integra Showoff” category at Nisei and without that class at this event, we knew he was gonna take Acura class… Oh another cool thing was that the pic of the NSX I took that ultimately ended up being on the flyer for this Showoff event was on all the trophies. Pretty cool….

It was a cool day overall…the fair, food, beer, cars, awards, what more can you ask for?….

After the awards ceremony, we all cleaned up and got ready to take off…The NSX was kinda low on gas and Tuan’s coupe needed some coolant so we kinda just hung around until everyone left since there was such a huge line to leave…

Kinda surprised the Showstoppers Civic didn’t win but oh well….competition is always tough in the Honda class…

Bunch of random pics I took while we waited… After that we drove back to the shop to drop off the NSX and I ended up grabbing some dinner with Big Mike at Portillos…

The next day, I headed over to DPK J.P.’s birthday party for his baby son over at El Dorado Park. I normally don’t take the camera everywhere but after looking back at the last time we were there, it was the last time we saw Armando and it kinda reminded me how precious life is. It’s always good to have pictures of everyone together. These kind of memories don’t make themselves and I think someday when we get older we’ll be able to look back at these pics and smile. I would like to have just a collection of pictures of the homies together just to have them. It’s important to capture candid moments with people you care about. I remember when I was a kid my sister and I used to complain about how my mom used to always take pictures everywhere we went. It’s not until I got older did I really understand why. If I were her I would have done the exact same thing. You only live once you know and your childhood and your younger years are where you grow the most and where the most memories are made. As you get older you kinda just remember the major moments. When you’re our age, everything seems important and unimportant at the same time. Capture those moments and then sort them out later…right?…

DPK minus JP (he was running around everywhere) and Rudy (he’s busy running around in Las Vegas now and spamming Facebook..haha)…oh and the rest of the guys (Guess they left before I got there)….

Mike G and baby Mike G aka Kenji…

This kid is growing so fast…Man it only seems like yesterday when we were at Mike G’s wedding…now he’s got a family and his kid is gonna be driving soon…haha…

May playing with her pug….Too bad I didn’t get to take a pic of the dog while she was shitting curry all over the grass…=P haha….

The doggie Black Pie playing with the doggy…

Mike G pushing around the new “Tank”….hopefully his Civic will be done soon….it’s been a couple years since we’ve seen it out and about…

That’s about it….JDM vs. DTM has come and gone….Be back tomorrow with some exclusive shit for you guys….

JDM vs. DTM LA County Fair Showoff Coverage…Part 1…

Words – Joey Lee/Photos -  Joey Lee & Michael Cristi

For the first attempt at a show like this in this type of environment, I can honestly say that it wasn’t bad. Maybe if it was advertise earlier and word had spread around more, the turnout could have been alot better. The idea of having a car show within the confines of the LA County Fair is actually a good one. But as everything, it always takes execution and time to make it perfect. It was definitely interesting, but the turnout could have been alot better. Overall I had a good time though and it’s always cool to hang out at the fair with friends and just do random things. If they plan to do this again next year, I’m confident in saying that it will be alot better….

The grass field that the show was held on was actually in the middle of the track where the horses race. We literally had to drive over the dirt track just to get into this area and they even rolled out the carpet for us to drive over. There weren’t too many cars so we pretty much had free reign to park wherever and however we wanted to. Above was our line-up of cars that day, with the exception of mine. I thought my car was too big so I just parked it somewhere else…

It was kinda cool parking in the grass. We had never done it before so it kinda reminded us of east coast car shows and the NOPI events of the past where everything was parked in the grass. It wasn’t that bad though. Just to be able to sit and put our stuff wherever we wanted was kinda cool. Most of our cars were pretty low though and spent more time pulling the grass out while we were driving in…

Of course the usual suspects were there. There were some new cars out but nothing that really caught the eye you know. So I basically just snapped pics of our cars and what not…

Sheepey came out to chill and to show his car for what might possibly be its last show. He has vowed to sell it to pay for his new place that he’s getting and to fund his new project…

I love this hatch. So simple but yet still has it’s own sense of style. It belongs to Sheepey’s homie Floate and if it looks familiar to you, it was featured in Import Tuner two months back. So clean…

This is the homie Travis’s Fit. I still remembering seeing this at the JTuned meet a couple months back and didn’t even realize it was his because it had changed so much….I know, some friend right? Don’t even recognize my own friend’s cars and shit….

This H23-powered DA belongs to EJ (I hope I remembered his name correctly). The first time I saw it was at the Mega Matsuri show a couple weeks ago. Also another example of a super clean Honda with it’s very own touch of style. You rarely see H-series engines in DAs and it’s even more rare to have a airbrushed hood. Very nice ride. Owner is a super nice dude too…

Showstoppers 8th gen Civic…Supercharged and currently featured in the latest issue of Super Street magazine….

VIP-inspired RSX? Seems kinda contradictory but oh well, wheel fitment is not bad….Gonna keep an eye of this to see what else is planned….

Timmy’s Accord wagon. He’s always been a loyal follower of this site and the guy knows how to build Accords. He was one of the guys that inspired me to attempt aggresive fitment on my own Accord. I still remember the first time I met this guy, it was at Nisei of 2006 and he was rockin a pink shirt so bright I couldn’t miss him!….

Tommy Ha’s Go Tuning S2000….He’s been around for years now dating back to when Autobots was a huge crew and his car has been through so many different looks. The current one is definitely the best and everytime he shows, he usually places at the top of the Honda class…

Nasif’s Type R-converted 8th gen. He’s also been winning alot lately and always places in the Honda class along with Tommy…

Leon’s timeless CR-X. He’s had this car set-up this way probably longer than most of the current generation has had their driver’s licenses….

…Leon was parked with Freddie and the guys over at Auto Fashion. I remember Freddie building a Honda but haven’t really heard much about it lately. If he builds a Honda like he builds a VIP project, I can’t wait to see it…

Speaking of VIP, here’s a VIP-styled TL from Team Praxis…not bad….

Tony and the Phaze2 widebody NSX of course….needs no introduction….

I’m gonna cut it off right here for now. For the ones with the phones if I add anymore pics, it’s gonna brick your phones again. There’s alot more to come but the rest are kinda random ones like usual where we go eat and shit and I take random pictures of stuff. If you’re interested in seeing that then make sure to come back. If you’re not come back anyway cuz you’re probably gonna check anyhow….

Stay tuned for Part 2 tomorrow when we journey off into the County Fair…also more car pics, awards, and the story behind the Rotamaster EMO encounter….;)

Questions before answers….

I’ve been pretty busy this past weekend completing some magazine work so I haven’t really had time to go through all the pictures. I did go to the JDM vs. DTM show and have plenty of pics for you guys so they will be up as soon as I have a free moment but here’s a preview for now of some of the ones I’ve actually gone through….

What the hell are our cars doing in the grass????…….This will probably mark the first and last time we’ll ever do a show out west where we actually park on the grass. It was interesting to say the least….Our cars looked like they were hovering the whole time and some guys looked like they were buried in the field of the horsetrack….

Who were the winners????……..No surprise here guys. We all knew who was going home with something already. The two guys above of course are the usual suspects….

What’s the deal with this?????……Haha….How fitting that the weekend I finally cut Rotamaster EMO stickers is the day I’m actually parked next to someone who’s rocking a set of fake Regamasters….You already know what was gonna happen next. My boy  is holding that shit and I’m not even gonna blur is face. Why? cuz he’s got a mean fucking cauliflower ear and can go apeshits at any time. Haha….how crazy is he? He’ll probably bodyslam your mother. Yeah I said it…

How does the car show work in conjunction with the fair?????….Well here’s a quick glimpse of where the fair was in vicinity to us. It was a great spot and I must say, this will be the first time I’ve ever driven over a dirt horsetrack where the actually rolled out carpet for us to drive over…..

Why is HeyMikeyyyy trying to eat this baby?????……I went to DPK JP’s son’s birthday the next day and kicked it with the homies so if you guys care I took some pics of us just hanging out…..

I got all this and more….check back later. Back to work!!!….PEACE.

JDM vs. DTM Showoff at LA County Fair…

Well I don’t have much time to update because I have to be up in like 2 hours but I just want to let you guys know that I will be there with stickers on hand if you want to pick some up from me. I’ll be with the NSX, Sheepey’s Integra, and two Fast Autoworks Hondas. Come drop by and say what’s up. Should be an interesting show…I’m sure you guys have seen the LA County Fair commercials on TV advertising the “Asian Car Show” or whatever…haha…Alright see you guys there….

On this day, we remember…

It’s crazy to think that it’s already 8 years after the 9/11/2001 attack that changed our lives forever. Seems like only yesterday when it all went down. I guess it’s just one of those moments in history that will always live with you and you’ll always remember what you were doing the exact moment it happened. For me, I remember waking up in the morning and going to school and hearing about it on the radio. I didn’t even know what was going on at the time and just kinda thought they were doing construction on the towers or something. The radio wasn’t on super loud and it was just in the background but something just didn’t seem right about it. I remember showing up for my automotive class and everyone was kinda weirded out and we all just sat in front of the television and watched it all go down. I remember seeing the footage of the 2nd plane hitting the towers and was shocked by the chaos that was occurring. They ended up cancelling classes the rest of the day and I just sat at home the rest of the day to see what was happening. Such a surreal sight to see and definitley something I will never forget. Just to see people jumping out of the building, the carnage, and people running down the street with smoke and flames in the background…..unbelievable. Times were definitely different then and today you can still see how much the world has changed since that infamous day. I can’t even imagine how it must be for the people who were directly involved and had family members lost because of this tragic event. Today we remember…..so let’s take a moment to honor those who were lost that day and the courageous individuals who put their lives on the line every single day to make sure we have freedom to live our lives without fear. 9/11/01 we will never forget.

We are all amazing individuals in our own right and we are given the opportunity to live a life of freedom and the ability to think for ourselves. Please don’t take it for granted and live your life to the fullest.

“There is no value in life except what you choose to place upon it and no happiness in any place except what you bring to it yourself.” -Henry David Thoreau

Mid-week Stuff…

So 09-09-09 has come and gone and as expected the Earth hasn’t exploded (yet), LA is still too crowded, and things continue to be at a crawl this week. The weekend should be fun though with the JDM vs DTM LA County fair show going on. Actually looking forward to this because I like the idea of being able to walk around the fair while the show is going on and eating turkey legs and shit. That and you always pass by the gigantic horse penis tent and people always secretly want to go in there and stare at a animal genitals. Anyways, I’m busy running around all over the place this week so even though it may seem like things are slow online, there’s actually alot to be done….

As you all know, I’ve been hanging out at Midnight Garage alot lately because I’ve been working on the stickers and what not and generally just hanging out with Ross and watching him do work on some of our cars. Well Ross is a long time Doods! family member and we always try to support him in whatever he’s doing so we’re gonna help him out with his grand opening meet and greet on September 26th. I’d like to personally invite you guys to come by and hang out with us. We’re gonna have our cars there on display and it would be cool if you guys came by. The lot is generally out of sight from the main street so you don’t have to worry about people bugging you or getting hassled by cops and it’s also big enough to accomodate some cars. It’ll be cool to have a meet and even better because it’ll give you something to do after the next two weeks with the Showoff event this Saturday and NWP meet the next. Why not just throw another meet in there too and just something every weekend of September? So please, come support Midnight Garage and The Chronicles by coming out. It would be our pleasure to have you guys/girls…

If you read the previous post, you’ll know that Ojay with the Element has retired his car and moved on to a new project. Well it’s nowhere near done but here’s some progress on it after the air suspension install was completed. The wheels are just on there temporarily because we wanted to see how low the car would go and how much lower we could go once we do some fender work and what not. It’s looking good so far and we’re all excited to see how it’s gonna come out when it’s all said and done….

I’ve also continued to work on the Rotamaster EMO wheel and I’m hoping to have it ready for the JDM vs DTM show this weekend. I opened up the image and actually took the time to create the vector for it so we can cut it out in vinyl. It took some time for me to figure out exactly how to use the vinyl program but I eventually finished up the logo and I’m very pleased with how it came out. It looks so nice that I might even cut it into a normal sticker haha. Maybe I’ll throw a Chronicles logo in there somewhere and make it a new sticker that you guys can pick up….I haven’t decided yet but if you guys like it, I can always cut a couple.

Alright time to get some rest before I gotta drive around all over Socal tomorrow to run errands….Later….

Moving on…

So I’m sure by now that you all must recognize the Element from our group. It’s been around for a couple years now and Ojay recently decided to part it out and retire the car. The Mega Matsuri event marked the final show for it and along with Mikeyyyy’s car, both are now no longer active…

Here is how it sat a couple months back. This is an old pic that I re-edited. Around this time was when the big brakes first went on. Basically everything is off the car now and the Element will spend the rest of its days as simple a daily driver. Here is how it sits as of last night…

If it wasn’t for the gold paint, it probably wouldn’t even be recognizable anymore. I’m bringing this up because he’s moved onto another project and that’s what we’ve been working on the last couple days at Midnight Garage. What does a guy do after building an Element? Well not really quite what you would expect. Though we all love Hondas, sometimes it’s cool to try something else…

…so he decided to go the VIP route and decided to build up a 1st gen. LS400. It still needs alot of work but the essentials definitely come first. UAS air bags, wheels, bodywork, and then paint. After that, everything else will slowly come together. We’ve been over there the last couple days with Ross trying to put the air set-up together and everything should wrap up today. Yah, it’s more non-Honda content for this week but why not. Things are slow otherwise and I figure you guys would like to see what we’re up to…

Here are the 20-inch Brabus wheels that are gonna go on there eventually. You can spot the soon-to-be Rotamaster EMO wheel sitting next to it. I just left it there cuz I got tired of it sitting at my place and I really need to clean it up before I re-spray it….

These things are pretty fuckin huge in person. We test fit them on the car and it looks like a monster truck haha. Probably gonna need to stretch a smaller tire to get the right look down and to be able to get the car on the floor…

Tony with the NSX came by to see what was going on and to hang out. This is his daily and the NSX spends most of its time here at the shop and under a car cover. It should be out there for the JDM vs DTM LA County Fair show so be sure to come by and chat it up….

Here they’re looking at Tony’s trunk set-up for his bags and comparing and contrasting where everything goes…

As usual everybody was bullshitting with eachother while one dude was doing something and eventually…

…everybody got sidetracked and decided to go into the office and watch porn together.

That’s about it for now. Got alot more work on the car today so keep your eyes peeled in the future when this thing starts popping up everywhere….

Back tomorrow with some more random stuff….

The Creation of the Infamous Rotamaster EMO wheel…Part 1…

For those of you who don’t remember or have not heard of this, please go here for the backstory…So with the JDM vs DTM Import Showoff event coming up at the LA County Fair, I thought it would be a good idea to finally get the ball rolling on this project. I was gonna do this a long time ago but just never got around to it. I remember I was even gonna try to put this together in time for the Eibach meet this year. The wheel that Alexisthemovie gave me has just been sitting in the trunk of my 4Runner the whole time. I didn’t expect to actually get a free Rota wheel when I was asking around for one but it was actually relatively easy to get. Actually not that I think about it, somebody from SDREV was supposed to help me make a t-shirt featuring the Rotamaster wheel and for some reason I never heard from the guy again. This was the original concept of the shirt that the guy came up with….

Pretty cool right? Hell I’d rock that shit all day but I don’t know what happened to the dude who was gonna make them. I might actually get around to making a shirt like this too but I’m not really sure who’d actually wear it other than me. I’d do something similar to that but with “Counterfit” spelled correctly….Anyways, so first thing I gotta do is to re-spray the wheel all one color as it currently is partially gold from some random rattle can test spray. Really shows you how much Rotas are worth when people are using it to test spray paint…haha.

The wheel is clearly fucked up. No doubt about it. Same Rota quality we’ve all grown to love. I swear to you I did nothing to fuck this wheel up. I may have asked for one in the most fucked up condition possible but I definitely did not touch it. Those bends and missing chunks of the wheel were all results of daily driving  and hitting potholes and rocks on the road….I plan on respraying the entire thing so that it’ll end up looking like this…

First thing I gotta do is create the vector for the “EMO” logo and then cut it to the proper sizing. For those of you who have a 16-inch Regamaster EVO on hand. If you could leave a comment with the dimensions of the logo it would be great. Just the one on the spoke is fine. The one around the wheel I guess I’ll have to figure out on my own….I’m actually kinda looking forward to doing this because I’ve been bored as shit lately. Oh well, after I cut the logo today I’ll see what I can do before the weeks end. Stay tuned….I’m gonna have a couple of little touches instore to finally put some value into this wheel….

Labor daze…

Man, it’s been pretty slow lately. Still waiting on people to finish up their cars so I can go take pics so you guys have stuff to look at but in the meantime I’ve just been spending my days over at Midnight Garage. My place has been hot as shit lately even with the A/C on so I just decided to go hang out with Ross over at his shop because his A/C is cold enough to make my nuts invert and I also get to work on my vinyl sticker stuff over there. The response has been crazy lately and alot more people are getting stickers than I expected. I’ll try to have a bunch for the LA County Fair JDM vs DTM show so if you want some, please head out there and find me. I’ll be posted up at a booth eating some fried whateverthefuck so drop by and say hi.

I was looking through my computer the other day and found some stuff that I kinda slept on and forgot to post up after the Nisei coverage. It’s actually the pics of HBK Jaypee’s car on the way to Nisei when it caught on fire…

Kevin from Fast Autoworks got these pics I believe…

I’m sure you all know how it happened cuz I explained it in the Nisei coverage posts. From what they were saying, I thought it woulda been worse but the pics I guess don’t really show all that happened under the car and what not. Just kinda sucks to see this thing ruined after it’s been sitting for so long. Jaypee ended up selling the whole car soon after the fire though so he’s moving onto something else…I think he’s riding around ina Ruckus or some shit….

Here’s a shot of the hole in the block after the piston went through it. Good thing somebody happened to show up with a fire extinguisher or the whole car would have burned to the ground….

So anyways, the Honda world has been kinda slow lately and I’ve just been busy hanging out at the shop so every now and then I’ll just go outside and take pictures for practice. They’re not anything special and they’re not meant to be. Just been trying to get a hang of the camera and shooting and editing and stuff. The rest is all non-Honda related so if you guys don’t care for it, oh well….

This is Ross’s xB. I promise it’s normally cleaner but he’s been driving it around and I kinda just took pics of it cuz it was out front…

I actually have found myself driving my car more and more lately. I think it’s cuz Ross’s shop is only like 4-5 exits away from me and I figure I might as well drive it. When I used to have my Accord I would only drive it from the house to like the supermarket or to get food anyways. Might as well take the time and enjoy it now. I also get to use it for practice with the camera too. A beat up ass 4-Runner doesn’t really make for fun editing either so this is the better choice. I’m also selling my wheels too so pics help. Maybe I’m gonna miss this look later on and look back with regret like how it is whenever I see pictures of my Honda on the internet haha…shit….

That’s about it for today….I’ll be back with the usual stuff, don’t you guys worry….

Just doin’ my part…

Ah man, nice to be able to sit down and get some shit done for a change. So much stuff going on outside of the car world along with the recent success with our group. As you know, I’ve recently been trying to catch up on all the sticker orders and what not but I’ve also been doing some things outside of this site to help out Import Showoff/Mainstream Productions as well as NWP4LIFE. On top of that I have freelance work for the magazines to do as well and my plate has been pretty full as of late. So it’s not that the site’s been lacking content lately, it’s just that things have been kinda slow lately in terms of what I normally cover here. Not to worry though as I’ve got some things in the works. I have to go snap some pics of David from DPK’s coupe when he finally figures out why theres a small leak in his motor and I still also have to meet up with Big Mike to see the finished product of his Prelude. I didn’t cover over 25 parts of his build not to show you guys how it looked when it was finally finished you know. There’s just some things that Big Mike has to finish up before that’s possible. Nisei was enough of a rush and now he’s just taking his time and finishing up the right way. I have a couple other cars lined up too and I’m actually pretty excited now to use the camera unlike when I first started out…..

Anyways, here’s some stuff that I have been working on. As you all know, the JDM vs DTM Showoff event is scheduled to take place on September 12th within the LA County Fair. So that means that showgoers and people who are competing all get to hang out at the LA County Fair as well as the car show. It seems like a great idea and I hope that it succeeds. I’m sure alot of careful planning took place to make this event happen so let’s all try to make it out there and support Ken Myoshi and the Showoff brand of events. I guess Ken had kinda taken notice of this site and had asked me for some help on images to use for his event flyers. I don’t really mind so I gladly obliged and this was the end result…..

He said he needed something that popped and grabbed people’s attention and what car grabs more of that than Tony’s NSX. The red is sure to catch the eye of County Fair attendees and hopefully it’ll get them over to the show. The flyers are gonna be out front by the entrance along with a Falken display car and model will be on hand to give them out. Sure it seems like small details but to have about 60,000 of these flyers printed and out in the public is always good exposure for Tony’s NSX as well as The Chronicles. If you want to see the car in person and drop by and say what’s up to us, please come check out the show….even if you don’t like the car it’s always fun to eat a giant turkey leg and fried whateverthefuck….

I also put together this image for the upcoming NWP4Life Summer Nights event. It’s big meet that the guys try to throw together every summer at the Eibach Springs facility in Corona, CA. Unlike the annual Eibach meet, because surely someone will ask, this meet is NOT limited to just Hondas and Acuras. I repeat, NOT limited to Hondas and Acuras. It’s just a cool shindig where people come out and chill with everyone else from the NWP4Life forums. These usually get pretty big and are always alot of fun. This event will be the weekend after the LA County Fair Showoff so it should give you guys plenty of things to do for the month of September.

Please spread the word guys. If you could just take this flyer and put it on your forum or wherever you guys go to talk about cars. Get the word out there. NWP Summer Nights is back in full effect.

I got you…

Finally had a chance to cut some more stickers tonight…. Those of you who bought shirts will also be receiving them shortly, I just have to package them and what not. Here is the list of guys who purchased stuff. If you recently purchased and aren’t on the list let me know and I’ll look again…

The Top 10 Hondas of 2008…A retrospective…Part 2…

Back with Part 2 of the retrospective….5 all the way to number 1 of the Top 10…Enjoy….

5. HeyMikeyyyy’s Integra…

What he’s up to now: Ahhh…the internet celebrity himself…Damn, it’s been quite a year for us as a group. Phaze2 has really taken off this year and it’s really cool to see all the hard work come together. Mikeyyyy has been busy doing his business thing and helping guys throughout the country with their dipped/plated parts and wheels. The Integra had a wider set of Jlines than last year and RedZone finally got this thing running right and tuned. Too bad it’s soon to be retired though…It’s going to a new home, new owner, new part of the country in fact. It’s bittersweet. I’m sad to see it go honestly but happy to see that he’s gonna be building something else even better. I don’t really think it’s gonna hit any of us until the car is really gone though but oh well, sometimes we just have to move on….

4. Chase McMaster’s K’d and tucked CRX…

What he’s up to now: Chalk this up on the list of cars that are no longer in one piece anymore. The whole thing was basically parted out and sold separately. Chase recently moved out of California and went back home as well. I don’t really wanna elaborate on why because this isn’t Chase’s blog (he has one I think) and that kind of personal stuff is best left coming from his own mouth. Not really sure what he’s up to nowadays, but the car is long gone by now….I’m sure it won’t be the last time we hear from the guy though….

3. Loi Song and Sportcar Motion’s record-breaking time attack Civic…

What he’s up to now: To sum it up simply….this Civic continued to fuck shit up in the Time Attack series. This thing is a beast, plain and simple. It’s been thoroughly dominant this year and even participated in the Castrol Syntec Top Car Challenge earlier this year. What’s next is that this car will be even more insane than before. It’s currently over at Robispec getting a full chromoly roll cage in preparation to run in the Unlimited class in future Time Attack classes. Not only that, all the glass is being replaced by lexan as well. When it’s all said and done, the Sportcar Motion Civic will definitely make a huge impact in the series. Loi had originally planned on retiring the car completely and focusing his attention on his new ITR project but I guess he decided to not let a good machine go to waste and just decided to make it even crazier….

2. Salem’s Acura TSX…

What he’s up to now: Not much has really changed on this TSX. It’s refreshing to see that some people like to enjoy their cars even after it’s made a mag and not cash out and sell the car right away like some. Salem hasn’t done much because life has kinda brought him some things that prevented him to do so. I was digging through my old pics and I actually found this picture of Armando aka Coke in a Can standing next to Salem. Seems like only yesterday. I think that’s a bag of chicken wings from Wing Stop in his hand in that picture. Damn what a fun day that was. I’m not really sure if I even posted this up when I put up  all the other pics. This was the last time I got the chance to see Armando before a tragic motorcycle accident took him from us a couple months ago. I had no idea I even took this picture and it just reminds me of how precious life is. One day we’re here and one day we’re not…Rest in Peace Armando Flores Jr…..

1. Donut’s 1992 Honda Civic…

What he’s up to now: The number one Honda on the Chronicles Top 10 of 2008 hasn’t really done much this year. It’s actually been MIA for a while now. Last year it was everywhere and this year it’s been in hiding. I can only assume that he’s redoing some things on the car again. In any case, he deserves all the attention he received and still undoubtedbly the Chronicles number one Honda of 2008. I’m sure it’ll be back and better than ever in 2010….

So that’s it folks. Man, going through these 10 cars is making me anxious to work on this year’s list. It’s definitely gonna be an interesting one…I just hope this year’s list doesn’t have so many cars getting sold or parted out the next year after. Til next time….
