Okay, finally back for some updates. I know some of you may be looking here for coverage of the Autocon event but I actually didn’t go to that. I’m sure it was a good event but May had come to me with an idea to throw a end-of-the year BBQ for the homies and it just happened to fall on the same day. With the holidays coming up, we wanted to get people together just to show appreciation for everything and honestly, it was more important than any car show or event. I did it without having a second thought about it and it worked out very well. Some of the guys still took their cars over to the Autocon show but they all car pooled together and came down for the BBQ. Like I’ve always said, it’s the people that really matter in our community so I would get together and break bread with friends over a car show any day. Besides, the Norm Reeves Honda event was the next day and I do that show annually so I had already planned on going to that instead…
May and I went to the park the night before just to reserve it, not knowing if anything was going on the next day but lucky for us, the park was completely empty in the morning. It’s a smaller park so that chance of anyone using it would be slim and it worked out great because we had the entire park to ourselves as well as the parking lot…
Some of the guys brought their cars out just to cruise in them. Here you can see Jared and Sheepey’s new S2K project…
No west coast meet/show/event would be complete without us trailering our cars out and this will further add to the stereotype. In reality, Darryl had to drop his car off to paint that day and if he had driven all the way to the bodyshop out in the I.E., he would have never made it back in time for the barbeque so he just brought his car along. What’s baller is that he’s not just trailering a car to a BBQ but the fact that he’s willing to take his car into paint with a mint set of CE28s on it…haha…
Sheepey grilling up some meat…
I shot a Corolla a couple months back that’s actually in this month’s Super Street and the dude owned an L&L Hawaiian BBQ. He said that if I ever needed any catering or anything to hit him up and he would take care of me and he certainly did. I gotta thank Ka Wong for supplying L&L for my BBQ completely free of charge. He doesn’t even know about this site and is actually a pretty quiet guy that keeps to himself but he’s a super nice dude. I just called him up and told him I needed food for 25-30 people and he hooked it up big time with big trays of chicken katsu, BBQ beef, rice, and macaroni salad. He helped me take it to my car and sent me on my way…
Some of the meat that the guys had made on the grill…
Jared and May hanging out on the playground inbetween meals…
The pictures that day came out kinda dark because I just pulled my camera out and started shooting, not remembering that I had messed with some of the settings a couple days before when I shot Shawn Hillier’s Ruckus. Here’s a shot of Ejay, Jared, and Ryan hanging out…
Everybody brought something to the BBQ and we had all kinds of drinks, most of which are still sitting in my truck…
Jared, Ryan Der aka Airbag Club, Donut, and Supertwinz John…
John cutting up some cooked meat with scissors that I hope weren’t used to cut the raw meat…
Big Mike talking to Rodrez and Tes…
Everybody was wondering what Ryan’s hoodie was all about and it’s actually a whole Batman costume, haha…
DPK David came out a little later to chill as did Mikeyyyy, Tina, and the rest of the Phaze2 guys. I didn’t really snap that many pictures because it’s just of us standing around and hanging out but you get the idea…
Sheepey and Elsa…
We hung out until the late afternoon and then some of the guys headed back to Autocon to pick-up their cars. The others hung out some more while we waited for some other friends to show up but that was about it. We were all gonna meet up again the next morning at around 6:30am for the Norm Reeves event…
DPK David told me that he was talking to the guys over at Norm Reeves one day and they offered me a booth at their event. I didn’t really want to wake up that early but I can’t say no to having my own section at their show. I knocked out for about 3 hours and then woke up to set-up at Norm Reeves at about 7am. The show is usually pretty small but it was for a good cause so I always make an effort to go. It’s also only like 3 exits away from me so it’s pretty easy to grab all the booth stuff and set up shop…
We arrived with the spot marked for us already so we pulled up and set up the booth…
They had the cars sorted by model but since I had my own section, we decided to just put all of our cars together. It worked out and made for a pretty good display actually…
Tony from It’sJDMYo!!! was kind enough to make some posters for us and he gave me a stack to give away that day. One of the models that he works with regularly, Chaba, is on the poster along with Phaze2 Tony’s NSX. It’s a pretty cool poster and I’ll probably be giving them out at events and what not so keep an eye out for those if you want one. I was thinking about including them in the orders from The Chronicles Store but I don’t know how I feel about having to fold them up. We’ll see I guess…
I started out the day just taking pictures of random stuff I saw, as I usually do, so the more extensive coverage won’t come until the other two parts…
A lot going on back here with the Spoon rear bumper and diffuser…
DPK David…
More of this S2000 later…
Big Mike explaining something to David and David probably not listening…
Drag-prepped Civic…
The same Zeal front bumper that I see at Norm Reeves every year…
Always been a fan of this DC…
Always see this car every year as well…
Widebody S2000…
Rywire’s Mugen MF10L with the Rota centercap. This actually started some controversy a year or so ago when someone wrote a letter to Super Street claiming that Ryan’s Mugen wheel was fake. Shit was pretty comical, especially since his feature had come out at that time and the guy was trying to talk shit about Super Street saying they feature cars with fake shit on it. Just shows how easily people can be skewed by shit on the internet…I’m sure this picture will be posted up some where and people are gonna talk shit again and the whole fake wheel debate will come up…
Tony doing some cleaning on his NSX…
Random shot of Tony’s NSX JDM navigation panel that now houses some gauges…
Tan’s S2k from Password: JDM…
Ryan and Sheepey talking…
Big Mike and Jared with their matching Volk SE37K wheels…
This hatch wasn’t a part of the show but I saw it in the customer parking lot and it was pretty clean…
Ryan’s MF10L/Wilwood combo…
I don’t know if this S2K was still under construction or not but it looked good from far but far from good up close…Overall, it just needed a lot of work…
Rywire x Rodrez…
Sheeps and Ryan getting super close to eachother again…
Even though the show didn’t have much foot traffic, there was a consistent crowd around Big Mike’s Prelude, as usual…looked like he was holding hourly seminars or something with him always having to answer questions from spectators…
This was pretty cool…
Honda Tuning and Eibach Springs CR-Z…
That’s all for today, I’ll be back tomorrow with more coverage. My bad with the slow updates lately, I’ve just had a lot of magazine work and when I’m not doing that, I’m trying to fill orders or going to events to get coverage for the site. Anyways, back again tomorrow with part 2…
Good times as usual.
great coverage!
Good coverage, love the shot of the SE37Ks

I am so out of the loop, Rywire’s car is now powered by a B-Series?
Great coverage btw!
sweet. weather looks nice and cool.
Good times Joey. You need to photoshop a “Ka-Pow” or a “Bam” into the Batman picture like how they used to do it in the original TV series, haha..
