Moving Forward…

I’m proud to announce that as of yesterday, we are now officially SOLD OUT for the Year.IV anniversary meet in October. We sold out much earlier than last year so I think the event might be considerably bigger than in year’s past. Just because the front area of the event is sold out, it doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for you guys to come hang out with your cars. Like every year, only the front portion of the event is reserved for VIP parking. That means that the rest of the Eibach facility, which are the sides and the rear of the building, are free and open to park on a first come, first serve basis. That doesn’t mean that you have to show up hours before the event though and block up the streets. I am asking all of you who are coming to not do that actually. Just show up at 1pm and park accordingly. The Eibach facility is HUGE so there will be plenty of parking for all of you guys and it is free of charge. DO NOT COME EARLY AND FLOOD THE STREETS WITH PEOPLE AND CARS, otherwise the event will get shut down and all this work will have gone to waste. Try not to ruin the event for your fellow enthusiasts and just come out and have a good time…

As I said, we are SOLD OUT, which means there is no more parking space up front for reservation/purchase any longer. Please do not email me about getting spots. When it comes closer to the event, there tends to be a couple of people who end up not being able to make it and if space becomes available, believe me, I will let everyone know. The most likely response you will get if you hound me about getting a spot is probably no response, because I am pretty busy with everything at the moment and don’t have time to deal with questions in regards to parking. Whatever space I am making now is saved for close friends and family and even that is looking pretty tough since it was a bit unexpected to sell out of space this quickly…

With that said, I wanna apologize for the lack of any updates in the last couple of weeks. When there isn’t anything major to post, I usually leave the car content stuff for The Chronicles Facebook page and you can also follow me on Instagram (@stickydiljoe) to see whatever I am up to at the moment… You haven’t seen anything from the weekend on because I’ve been in the midst of putting things together for the Year.IV meet while starting on a major project for work. I can’t really disclose what I am working on but it’s not really relevant to anything you see on this site normally anyways. It has taken up a chunk of my time and any extra time I have I’m trying to get magazine stuff done for the publications I work for as well as squeezing in some time for the site and spending time with friends and May. I dropped the ball once again this year and completely forgot about the Japanese Classic Car Show. It is one of my favorite events yearly but I’ve managed to miss out on it two years in a row. From some of the pics that I’ve seen, there were some great builds present as usual and I’m kicking myself now for not making a better effort to go. My excuse to myself was that it was 108 degrees that day but we all know that I’ve been through some shittier weather conditions to be at a great event before. It would have been great to be able to get some photos from that event to show you guys but we will all just have to wait until next year. It looks like things have slowed down a bit but it will pick up in a couple of weeks. We have the Year.IV event on October 27th, then followed immediately by the 2012 SEMA show in Vegas, and that will then be followed-up by the annual VIP Festival, hosted by Autofashion. I’ve been a Japanese VIP aficionado almost as long as I’ve been into Hondas so you will find me there for sure. From an outside perspective it may seem like things are moving at a snail’s pace but there is a ton of stuff going on behind the scenes that will come to fruition in a couple of weeks…

For those of you that don’t have a Facebook account or aren’t following The Chronicles or the Year.IV event page, I recently received the trophies that will be presented at Year.IV. They aren’t meant to be anything serious but I think they came out really good. I put these awards together just for fun and to show my appreciation for your guy’s hard work. Year.IV is a meet and not a car show so don’t come out with your full show displays with mirrors and all that other crazy shit. If you reserved a VIP spot, just show up the day of the event and you will be eligible to “compete” for one of these awards. Sorry to those of you who didn’t reserve your spaces in time because you will not be eligible to compete…

I have five awards in total for the event. Above is “The Chronicles Choice” award, which is awarded to my personal favorite build of Year.IV, and next to it is the “Best Engine Bay” award. Engine bay modification is huge in our community so it is certainly deserving of its own, separate, award…

Here are the “Best Honda” and “Best Non-Honda” awards. The Honda award has a blue tint that matches the other two Year.IV awards above, and the Non-Honda trophy has a green tint, to set it apart from the Honda one. I actually have a good grouping of non-Hondas this year so the show itself will have a nice mix of different makes and models. The only award not pictured is the fifth and final award, which is the “Most Improved Build” award. This is new for the anniversary events and will be awarded to the build that has made the most significant progress since 2011. It gives the guys who aren’t done with their builds yet a chance to take something home for their “work in progress” builds…

For the merchandise side of the event, I am actually out of shirts for the year. This year’s shirts did better than ever but I think that we are done with that design since we are so close to the end of 2012. Every year I try to come up with a new design to debut at Wekfest SF and run it for the whole year so I would rather spend my time coming up with something new. I’m happy that everyone was so interested in them and supporting the site by rocking them at events. I know this site has grown a lot since 2008 but it still puts a smile on my face when I go to an event and I see someone wearing a Chronicles tee. Since we are out of shirts, I will most likely have more stickers/decals on hand for those of you who want to grab some to show support or to replace your old, worn out Chronicles decals. I’m not making shirts but I am very close to pulling the trigger on a very limited run of hoodies. Over the years I’ve had a ton of people ask me to make hoodies and I just haven’t done it. They are kind of pricey to create so I’ve always been reluctant to make them because I was worried that they wouldn’t sell and I would have a bedroom full of unsold merchandise. Since more and more people have been asking me, I think I will make a small batch to see how they do. I’m working on a final design now but I’ve attached a sample below of what I have so far. These hoodies will be available at Year.IV if I decide to get them done so make sure to grab them while they are available. I know I will want to keep a couple for myself since you can use hoodies all the time. The winter season is approaching too so why not rock a brand new hoodie, right?…

There might be some things I want to add to it but I’m thinking of keeping them simple. One of the best features about the NWP4LIFE hoodie that I have is that it can be worn anywhere, whether it’s a car-related function or not…

That is all for today, I think I may put up a waiting list for those of you who still want to get a VIP spot. I can’t guarantee anything but if I end up making some room, these guys will have first dibs on the spots…

Anyways, thanks everyone for understanding. Whenever I have something to show you guys or tell you guys, believe that I will post. I’m not the type to just leave my site at a standstill and not update…
