Race Day 2 was a smaller event than what you would typically see coverage of here on The Chronicles. It was an event created by my buddy Norman Pamintuan in hopes of not only throwing a small car show, but also promoting Racer’s Edge, a karting spot in Burbank where the show was held at. If you haven’t figured it out, the event is called “Race Day” because of the karting and not because people actually take their cars to race. The venue is relatively small so I didn’t expect it to get crazy but I wanted to make sure I checked it out because I wanted to support Norman and the locals up in the valley. The weather had been nice all of last week but randomly on that Sunday, it suddenly got really hot. I was thinking it was gonna be a nice day and I’d be able to play around with my camera but it just got too hot where I just wanted to stay out of the sun and inside the karting area where the A/C was blowing. I managed to capture the entire event but didn’t spend a whole lot of time looking at the cars. In the short spurts when I was out in the heat, I got whatever I could and still managed to get burnt even though I was out for only a couple minutes at a time. Another reason why I had to be there at Race Day 2 was because Norman had asked if I’d be willing to participate in the awards category by presenting a “Chronicles Choice” award. I was gonna go hang out anyway so I told him I’d be down. I’ll let you know which car I ended up picking but I think you guys have a pretty good idea of what cars catch my eye and you should be able to figure it out by just looking at the pics…
I apologize if there are multiple shots of some of the same cars. Like I said, I had planned on playing with my camera that day and getting creative with some of my shots but I just didn’t want to be stuck out in the 90+ degree weather. The first couple photos look completely different than the rest of the shots in the post because I was just messing around in the beginning. The rest are more of the same style you’ve come to see from my event coverage. Thanks for looking in advance and shout-out to Norman for putting on a chill event and inviting me out to participate…
A shot of the Race Day 2 event upon my arrival in the late morning/early afternoon…
I really liked this Z32 300ZX but this was the only shot I got of it that day. I had planned to get some pretty in-depth shots of it since I hadn’t seen the car before but I guess the owner couldn’t take the heat either and took off before I could do anything…
Luis Jaimes’ Civic looked like it had some new updates so I made sure to get a closer look…
Thought this was a pretty cool shot of Jaimes’ Civic with Teddy’s EK in the distance…
Loved how this E46 M3 looked on Mag Blue Volk TE37s and Brembo big brakes…
Acura Integra Type R with Sprint Hart CP-Rs, BYS front bumper, and Mugen Gen. 1 spoiler…
Mark Sutakajana’s new 15-inch Volk TE37SLs…
Mark’s DB8 Integra engine bay…
Teddy Timoteo’s Civic with color-matched First Molding front lip and J’s Racing rear wing…
S13 hatchback with Top Secret front bumper and SSR Professor SP3… Really like this car and always stop to take a look at it whenever I see it at an event…His brother I believe owns the Sileighty that’s usually parked with him that I’ll post a pic of later…
BMW M5 from Royal Flush on Rennen Forged wheels…
This white coupe looked good on custom bronze Regamaster EVOs…
Eddie Diaz’s CL9 Acura TSX on black Enkei NT03s…
Wingless Evo looking subtle with Volk TE37SL…
Absolutely love Mark Sutakajana’s 4-door Integra… He actually just tracked his Integra the day before and woke up early just to clean it up for this event. True definition of a street/track/show car…
Another shot of Luis Jaimes’ Civic…
One of the few Honda builds out there with a completely legit CA BAR’d K20 swap…
Another of Teddy’s EK…
…along with the ITR on CP-Rs…
…as well as Mark’s DB8…I still hadn’t figured out if I liked the Mugen Ferio wing on his car but now with the wheels and PCI front splitter, I think it comes together as a well-executed package….
The Top Secret S13 hatch from earlier…
…and the Sileighty that I mentioned early…Very cool how both cars are themed similarly…
Finally got a chance to get a up-close look at this VeilSide Fortune NSX from R-Rydes…
Custom diamond-stitched interior in the NSX with VeilSide steering wheel…
A shot of the VeilSide NSX’s engine bay in the rear…
You can kind of gauge how much wider this NSX is here over the stock body…
Custom taillights that come with the Fortune kit…
Red and black two-tone theme on this M3 Cabriolet…
Mauricio’s real deal JDM EF9 Civic hatch in the Erick’s Racing booth…
Got a chance to meet Eddie Vallely and check out his street/track/canyon Civic build… This thing is super clean and everything you see on this car is utilized and functional. Really nice build overall and from what he tells me, he’s had this car for about 11 years now…
Engine bay is nicely tucked, very clean with a very unassuming 2.0L stroker motor that made 255HP at Church’s Automotive…
Interior is completely gutted with custom sheet metal door panels…Note the brake proportioning valve under the dash with custom brake lines…
Cage is simple and the interior has also been re-sprayed…
A shot of the cage and Bride seats from the rear…Great job on this build. Very subtle and has a timeless appeal to it…
Mark Ilaya aka Phaze2 Mizzzzark’s BMW M5 on Leon Hardiritt Ordens…
Skech Ibarra’s all-motor drag Civic…
Mauricio’s RHD EF9 on SSR EX-C Neos…
One of the best features about this EF9 is the mint interior. Looks almost brand new for a car that is over two decades old…
Almost perfect…
Erick’s Racing’s Honda F20C turbo Datsun truck…Mauricio said he took this truck out for a spin and never again because it’s so fast that he’s worried he might kill himself in this thing…
7th gen. Accord on some older Work wheels that I can’t seem to think of the name of at the moment…
Slammed Subaru WRX on polished Volk CE28s…
Civic hatchback that I remember from last year’s Race Day event with Wings West aero, 949Racing 6ULs, and BYS wing…
Closing it out part 1 with this 8th gen. Accord on MMR HR3 wheels…
That’s all for today. Thanks for looking…
