Spocom Anaheim 2013 Coverage…Part 2 of 2…

Welcome back to the second and concluding portion of the 2013 Spocom Anaheim coverage. I rambled off like a madman yesterday and typed out like a 3,000 word summary of the event so I’ll save you guys the trouble of all that reading today. Instead, I’m just going to ramble off in the captions today. Haha, thanks for looking…

Oh and there might be one or two photos that might be considered “NSFW”…You’ve been WARNED…

If you missed Part 1, check it out in the link below…

Spocom Anaheim 2013 Coverage…Part 1…

…And here we go with Part 2…

Over at the Scion Racing booth, I ran into Noel (not literally) and his Rocket Bunny/Vertex Scion FR-S. I’m sure you guys have been seeing a ton of this car lately as Noel posts like 74 photos of it per day on Instagram but make sure to pick up the latest issue of Import Tuner to read the full story on it…

I actually had the pleasure of putting the story together and shooting the photos for the IT spread. Noel had a lot of time to dedicate to this build since the Lakers were doing such a shit ass job of being a decent team this past year. He’s a diehard fan though and is convinced that Chris Kaman will make an impact next season and not average 6 points and 2 rebounds before getting injured for the rest of the season like every year, haha…

Chris Ortez’s Super Street-featured Vortech supercharged G35 with a ton of custom one-off details like his carbon kevlar-lined Kurookie front bumper. The opening in the center has also been enlarged to pull more air into the ARC intercooler that has also been retrofitted. One of the best show cars in Socal and it is driven all day every day. Great job. It’s always good to chat with him too because, though he has a Nissan/Infiniti now, he always has a deep appreciation for Hondas and the Honda-influence is still evident in his build…

Jose Romo’s Audi A3 wagon that has been a consistent presence in the Socal show scene…

At this point it was already the end of the day which meant that it was time to present the awards for the day. We were right by the stage so we didn’t have to go too far to watch the ceremony…

IMG_6451-Edit

Danh Vo was one of the first guys on stage picking up an award for one of the R-Rydes cars that won that day. It was just one of many awards that the group took home that evening…

IMG_6460-Edit

Ryan’s E-AT isn’t quite finished yet but he was able to go home with the “Best Engineering” award that went to the most innovative vehicle build at Spocom. Pretty high honor and it was cool that they recognized Ryan’s efforts….

IMG_6471-Edit

IMG_6466-Edit

That’s pretty much a wrap as far as the coverage goes. After the awards, everybody hung out for a bit, said their goodbyes and then we went home. Above are some shots that I captured outside of the show as Ryan was getting set to load his car back up on the trailer…

Thanks for looking and thanks to Paul Nguyen from Spocom for having us and also to the R-Rydes crew for letting us park with them that day. Good times….
