Honda Day Orlando 2013 Coverage…

The Honda Day series has transformed into the largest Honda/Acura enthusiasts event in North America within the last couple of years. To put it simply, it blew up. Every year it seems to get bigger and bigger and though you haven’t seen much coverage of it here on The Chronicles, I have definitely taken notice. I still have yet to personally attend one but I’ve had people contact me in regards to covering the event for the site on a guest basis, but they have just fallen through in the end. I think within the last year, I’ve had numerous people hit me up about doing coverage but it just has never panned out. Either the photos were just not what I would like to publish here on the site or people just haven’t come through with the content. It’s not like an assigned job or anything so I can’t be mad about it. I appreciate the ones that do take the time to take photos and come through for me but Honda Day has always eluded me. Maybe some day I’ll make it out there when my schedule permits but for now, I’m cool with just seeing photos of it online…

Dipesh Gohil has done a little bit of work for me before. He covered one of the Import Alliance events for me so I was familiar with his work, so when he notified me that he was going to Honda Day in Orlando, I was down to check out his shots. He got them to me pretty quickly and left the photos untouched, just like how I would like them, so that I could process them in a way that matches the overall style of the site. Things have been pretty busy lately so I just haven’t gotten around to them until now. Today we’re going to look at his photos and get a glimpse of what Florida has to offer. I really don’t know too much about the Honda Day Orlando event and to be perfectly frank, I didn’t even know that Florida was a spot on the Honda Day tour. Gohil mentioned that there were some new builds set to debut so it peaked my interest. I don’t see a whole lot of content from Florida anyways so it would all be pretty new to me but I digress. Orlando doesn’t get a ton of events annually so it was basically a foregone conclusion that it would be a successful event. I hear a ton of cars got stolen at the event but that’s not the responsibility of the Honda Day staff. Florida is just terrible about theft so that too, sadly, is expected. When I say “terrible”, I’m not using the word lightly either…IT IS FUCKING TERRIBLE. It’s so bad that the entire K-Tuned booth got jacked and the guys from K-Tuned lost all of their merchandise. I guess these thieves camped out and waited for all the K-Tuned stuff to be loaded up in their respective containers where they would await shipment back to K-Tuned and the thieves intercepted it. They took a ton of product, some that haven’t even hit production yet, and the K-Tuned staff received the containers back at their facility and opened it only to find that they had been duped. I can’t even imagine how that would feel, especially knowing that SEMA is coming up and now your booth is completely stripped. Best of luck to those guys in rebuilding and a big ol’ “fuck you die slow” to the thieves that are grimy enough to steal…

There is just one portion of Honda Day Orlando coverage. It is pretty extensive so please wait for it all to load. I’d separate it into two parts but it is the weekend anyway so you guys will have plenty of time to go through it all. Thanks to Dipesh “Super Dipz” Gohil for providing the photos and hopefully you guys will enjoy it and share it with your fellow enthusiasts….

You may be familiar with Kyle Gessler’s coupe from some previous Import Alliance coverage but it features a retro-fitted Mugen Ferio wing, CCW Classic wheels, and Mugen SS front lip. You can’t see it here but it also has a fully-shaved engine bay that is incredibly clean…

One of the first cars that Gohil spotted upon arrival to the venue was this trailered orange CR-X on gold Work Equip 03s. I don’t know how many of you know, but this is actually an original FF-Squad build that has since been sold and moved to the opposite coast…

The Honda Day staff builds a car that is available to be won through a raffle that they do at every event. This K-swapped Integra is the prize and you too can win it with the simple purchase of a raffle ticket…

A better look at the Civic 4-door from early on old school WED’s Bavaria Fins. Pretty nicely done RHD Civic overall. Nice boost set-up in the bay and interesting front lip…

Really liked Xavier Ortiz’s turbo B-series Civic build with BYS front bumper and Volk Racing CE28Ns. Love the engine bay set-up and the red wrinkle finish on both the valve cover and the turbo housing. Oil breather set-up is executed very well and overall, the car just comes together nicely. The purple cage looks to be done to match the Wiggins clamps under the hood. Nice job…

Carlos’ CR-X that was of course the original and legendary FF-Squad RHD EF-8 converted CR-X…

Awesome K-swapped custom Honda Civic 1200 hatchback that is on the cover of the current issue of Honda Tuning magazine with the Rywire E-AT Civic. You can see here how the motor barely fits in the tiny bay of the 1200 and all the custom fabrication to get everything operational…

Nice Honda CR-X with EF8 SiR front end and gunmetal-faced Work RSZ-R wheels…

IMG_2291-Edit

One of the builds that really stood out to me when I was going through these photos was this white Civic sedan on 14-inch Volk TE37s. This is Jen Milks’ Civic from Street2Track and used to have a custom coated faux woodgrain engine bay. It has come a long way and I like everything about it, from the meaty Nitto NT01 rubber, the custom front splitter, the K-swap, everything. Good stuff and nice job on this build…

IMG_2313-Edit

Another boosted DC5 RSX, also on CCW wheels and wearing the same C-West aero as the rootbeer DC5 from earlier…

IMG_2324-Edit

One more of the K-turbo CR-X on Spoon wheels. With the hood on you probably wouldn’t think much of it. This thing probably rips…

IMG_2333-Edit

And one more of the red Civic from earlier with the EK4 bumpers…

IMG_2337-Edit

The bright lime green tone is definitely an eye-catcher…

EF Civic sedan with JDM EF2 front end that also has the rare round foglights. Nice touch with the ARC Air Induction Box and intake arm in the bay. This Civic is also seated on custom re-barreled Mugen MR5s…

IMG_2361-Edit

An additional shot of the white 4-door from earlier on 949 wheels. I like the bumper duct on the driver’s side instead of the conventional right side since it is now K-swapped…

Civic coupe that also has a K20-swap on Mugen MF10Ls. Front lip is the popular First Molding Flugel Plate. Big fan of this car and very cool to know that two of my favorites from Honda Day Orlando are builds from female owners. This one is owned by April Ross…

IMG_2383-Edit

I’m still not sure how I feel about carbon GT wings on Civic coupes but this one doesn’t look too bad. It’s much more difficult to give the coupes that “track” appearance compared to the more popular hatchback chassis. When you put canards and a wing on a hatch, it’s considered “circuit-style” but when you put them on the coupes, people tend to see it as overkill. It’s kind of a weird conundrum but I get it. Coupes always tend to have more of that “street car” appeal to it…

IMG_2397-Edit

That goes the same for the Acura TSX too. You either go all-out racecar status like Phaze2 Salems’s TSX or you go with a more simpler street car appearance. Mixing the whole stance-style with track car parts just doesn’t mix. It doesn’t look too bad but there seems to be some confusion as to the direction of this build. I dig all the parts though, just not in this combination…

IMG_2485-Edit

Everybody is already thinking it so I’m just gonna point it out… This S2000 looks very, VERY, similar to PGK Jay’s old set-up on his S2000 from the same aero, the LSB color, even the yellow Spoon valve cover. Jay also had TEs at on epoint too so this is basically Jay’s old S2K. Jay has since moved on from this set-up but man, you can’t look at this car without thinking about Jay’s. I dig it, but I also really liked it when Jay did it, haha… I believe this car was just featured recently too in print…

IMG_2490-Edit

I also find it confusing why people choose to have the “Idlers” logo chalked into their tires when they have nothing to do with the actual Idlers race or anything not RWB-related. To each their own though. Who am I to say anything, haha… Nice touch with the yellow Spoon brakes up front. It goes well with the overall theme…

IMG_2529-Edit

One more shot of the Rootbeer C-West DC5 turbo. I can’t even recall the last time I saw a C-West DC5 kit and there were two on hand at Honda Day Orlando…

IMG_2549-Edit

This bagged Element on Airrex suspension and bronze Work Schwert wheels looked great. Always been a fan of this particular OEM Element color too and I’m surprised why more people haven’t used it on their own builds…

IMG_2561-Edit

White JDM EK9 Civic Type R that attracted a lot of bugs thanks to Florida’s humid climate…

IMG_2694-Edit

The coating on the engine bay of this Civic looks a lot like the color-shifting “Spectrum Silver” finish that SSR offers on their wheels. Pretty cool. Would have been cool if he had the wheels to match but it is definitely unique…

Another favorite of mine from this photo set was this red K-swapped Civic on Racing Hart CP-F Tuners. These are some of my favorite wheels of all-time and I’m happy to see them mounted on a meaty tire….

IMG_3000-Edit

This was a drag racing event so there was racing going on but Gohil didn’t get too much of it. Here is the King’s Performance S2000….

Nice capture of an EF hatch getting ready to blast down the 1320. Don’t know too much about it other than the exposed intake manifold indicating that it too is K-swapped…

That’s a wrap on Honda Day Orlando 2013. Thanks for looking and have a great weekend…
