An Update From Las Vegas…

I sincerely apologize for the lack of activity on the site this week… I had originally intended to post up the YEAR//FIVE coverage this week as I spent the entire Sunday afternoon and evening editing all the photos but just ran out of time. Once the photos were finished, I put them on a flash drive so that I could upload them at my hotel but unfortunately, I checked-in only to realize that my home for the week in Vegas did not offer any type of Wi-Fi or internet. How a hotel survives these days without offering internet to their residents is beyond me, but alas, I was stuck with not being able to update the site…

It should be obvious to everyone by now but if you are not aware, I am in Las Vegas, Nevada this week to cover the 2013 SEMA Show. It is something I do every year and I like to stay for the week to spend some time out here with friends while I’m working. This year’s SEMA show seems to be the biggest it has ever been in the last 5-6 years or so and foot traffic was pretty heavy. I don’t recall ever seeing this many people at a SEMA event that I’ve attended and it is a good sign for our industry. it shows that maybe there is some economic recovery and companies are able to finance opportunities like this to make a presence at the largest automotive trade show in the country…

I’m actually currently typing all this up in the Media Center within the show. They offer Wi-Fi here as well as working laptops so I am able to give you guys an update of what has been going on as of late. Trust me, I would love to be able to push out all the content I have for you guys now but from the looks of things, everything will be pushed back a bit until the next week when I am home again. It is always tough around this time because there is so much going on before the year ends. It’s a shame that I haven’t been able to move any of this stuff but trust me, I’m not just sitting here not doing anything. I am quite busy but feel terrible about not being able to move forward with content this week…

For those of you who care about the SEMA Show, I’ve been posting up live coverage all week on my Instagram account. You can follow me on Instagram (@stickydiljoe). IG allows me up get photos up quickly for you guys and if I see something that really catches my eye, you better believe that it’ll pop up on my IG feed. I know the site hasn’t been very active but my IG account has. There is always good stuff on there so I invite you to join me on my live journey through the show.

If you don’t have an Instagram account, you can actually still view the photos on my IG page on the web. CLICK HERE TO SEE IT NOW.

For now, all I can do is provide you with coverage from my YEAR//FIVE event through the eyes of some of the enthusiasts that were there that day. First up is some great coverage from Jimmy Nguyen who made the trip down from Norcal to attend the event. He was one of many photographers covering the event that day and I love the steady improvements that Jimmy is making in his photography. His stuff seems to be getting better every day and I appreciate the fact that he covered my event in great detail.

You can view his coverage HERE on a thread he created on the NWP4LIFE Forums….

Videos seem to be really big today when providing event coverage to the world. To be perfectly frank, I was really busy that day and didn’t even covering a bulk of the event. By the time I had settled down after setting up the entire event, I just wanted to take a break, grab a bite to eat, and relax with friends that I hadn’t seen in awhile. I did cover the event but after seeing some of these videos and other photos on the web, I realized that I indeed missed quite a bit of it. I saw it with my own eyes of course but it just didn’t translate into digital media. I have a good bulk of photos but it just isn’t possible to get every car up front in the VIP area…

Here are some videos that I’ve found from the event. The one I’m waiting on is the video done by my buddy Sam Ip but these are equally good as well. Enjoy…

This last video also covers some of the cars that were parked in the free spectator lot, which I didn’t even get a chance to see…

If you guys still want more photos, you can always search Instagram for coverage from YEAR//FIVE under the hashtag “#yearv”. There is plenty to look at there for those hungry for more. Also, you can go back to the old YEAR//FIVE event page and see some of the photos that other enthusiasts posted up as well…

Here is the link to the YEAR//FIVE official FB page…

Alright, that should hold you guys over for today. I gotta get back to work and covering SEMA 2013. A press conference is about to begin and I don’t want to get in peoples’ way. Thanks for your patience and I always appreciate the support. I’ll update as soon as possible but follow me on various social media outlets in the meantime….

  1. Ahhh, finally some teaser coverage!
Can’t wait for full article, but everything is looking good as I expected.

  2. Man, I thought something bad happened or something, cause you always bring the coverage within a day or two. Totally forgot about SEMA and glad all is well.
