Wekfest LA 2016 Coverage…Part 2…

Alright folks….back with more coverage from the 2016 Wekfest LA event. It honestly feels like old times having to go through so many photos again, and it feels good. With all this new camera technology, I feel like I want to get a new camera body to shoot with but I think I’ll continue shooting with what I have until I absolutely need it. Tiffanie is always with me now and her Canon 6D honestly feels like it produces better photos now than my dated 5DMKII but that could just be because she’s probably a better photographer than I am, haha. In any case, I had a great time shooting the Wekfest LA event. It’s always nice to just be able to have the freedom to walk around and shoot whatever. I had to take advantage of the scenic view of Long Beach, CA before the show moves somewhere else next year. If you heard rumors that the Socal Wekfest show might be moving, well, you might have heard correctly. There is new management on hand at this venue now and they don’t seem particularly interested in bringing the Wekfest event back. Wherever it ends up, I’m sure things won’t change too much and the show will continue to grow. Long Beach Convention Center sounds like a pretty good spot and I always have had good memories of attending shows in that venue. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens but don’t be surprised if this is the last time the Wekfest LA event takes place by the Queen Mary…

Overfilled parking lot…

Narrow driveways…

Dead grass…

BBQ that may or may not give you the shits…

What’s not to miss?

Haha, just kidding of course. In all honesty, this was a great venue because it was so different than the other stops on the tour. Scenic Long Beach with the Queen Mary as a backdrop is hard to beat… Time will tell what’s to come in the future…

Enough talk for today, on with the photos and captions…

John Liwanag’s supercharged Junction Produce JZS161 GS on VIP Modular wheels….

Central Pine brought out a solid selection of VIP-themed builds including this Y33 Q on SSR Professor TF1 wheels…

This Y33 from Central Pine looked to be running a full selection of suspension products from popular Japanese tuning company, T-Demand…

Custom widebody Mercedes W211 owned by Cesar Cuevas from HAISO on Fortis Precision Forged wheels…

Chameleon-hued Q50 Infiniti on FPF RS-2 Directional Series wheels…

It almost seems rare to see a complete Junction Produce-themed VIP build these days. This 1st gen. GS had the complete catalog of JP products with the traditional black paint and Scara wheels…

The first TRA Kyoto Pandem Civic in North America debuted at WFLA ’16, owned by Roger from Rogelios Auto Upholstery. The car was finished just hours before the show started so there were some things missing here and there but I think once they actually finish it, it’ll look much better. Seeing the Banzai Attack Pandem Civic in Japan doesn’t help because it helped to build such a huge precedence for how these Pandem Civics should look. I honestly think a graphical livery would help to make the car flow better and the most notable difference is how different the kit looks when the car is on 16-inch wheels instead of 15s with a big tire. Pretty crazy. Nonetheless, this one is coming along nicely. With time and some clean-up, it should be a good one…

I really liked how this Honda Odyssey looked from STYLESIXTYTHREE with SSR Executor wheels and a full Wald lip kit….

Toyota Sienna SE mini-van on Leon Hardiritt Vertu wheels, Airrunner air suspension and Lexon Exclusive aero…

Brendan Taft’s naturally-aspirated 2JZ-GE Toyota Supra running a Ridox front and custom metal widebody in the rear…

The WFLA 2016 “Best of Show” winner went to this Porsche 356 Speedster. This was one of the crowd favorites from last year’s SEMA event and I believe it has since been sold to a new owner. No part of this 356 was left untouched and has received recognition from world famous Porsche builder, Rod Emory…

Check out the full custom interior of this 356 with a faux vintage luggage case displaying a McIntosh amplifier…

The Porsche sits on a 1964 Beetle reinforced chassis, has a built and blueprinted 1915cc engine, and sits on prototype Magnus Walker wheels…

K-Break Y33 Q from EMPIRE VIP…

One of my favorite VIP builds from WFLA ’16 was the JZS147 GS from EMPIRE VIP, owned by Andy Ta. Love how the car sits, the bright red tone, and full custom interior…

Luis Jaimes’ Mugen-themed, K-swapped, Civic pulling-in a ton of airflow via Hayward ITBs…

Luis Jaimes’ current project is this tan Civic hatchback running a C-West front bumper, Battlecraft hood, J’s Racing front fenders, and APR rear wing…

Jesse Temores’ incredibly well-executed Spoon Sports-themed CR-X…

Jose Jaimes’ teal CR-X is currently done for a rebuild but it didn’t stop him from coming out for Wekfest LA in his legit JDM EF8 CR-X SiR on Mugen NR10R wheels…

K-swapped EF9 Civic SiR on Mugen MF10L…

Dustin McQueary’s DA Integra on SSR EX-C Fins…

Subaru WRX wagon running front/rear fender flares to house the aggressive 3-piece WCI wheels…

Is it strange to see an Evo 8/9 these days that isn’t wearing a full Voltex aero kit?…

Porsche 997 on GMR mesh wheels…

Aimgain Y33 from Pure VIP on Work Emitz wheels…

Another great VIP build from WFLA was this GS from Pure VIP. I just wish it wasn’t parked at such an odd angle so I could get better photos of it…
