Wekfest Florida 2016 Coverage… Part 2 of 2…

HAPPPPPPYYYY NEWWWW YEEAAARRRR!!!! I can’t believe its 2017 already. What a crazy year ’16 was. I know some of you guys are still going through that holiday hangover so sit back and enjoy the second batch of my photos from the 2016 Wekfest Florida event. Enjoy!!…

Because tropical weather is always interesting in West Palm Beach, sections of the morning were filled with downpour, much to the delight of all show competitors who were trying to keep their cars clean for the show…

Guys like Thien Le, who transported his car from Louisiana only to realize he had a bad axle and had to push his car in, worked their hardest to keep their cars show-ready. He even had some help from other fellow car enthusiasts who had no idea who one another were…

Eventually, the rain did stop though so it was okay to walk around outside and snap away…

Lando recently finished-up his JDM ITR-faced Integra in a bright Mercedes Red hue…

Matt Hamilton’s ever-improving HKS supercharged S2000…

J’s Racing wide front fender, Volk Racing TE37, and J’s Racing big brake kit…

ASM rear bumper, rear over fender, ASM front bumper, Circuit Garage front over fender, Work Meister S1 3-piece. Also, personally signed J’s Racing GT wing by J’s Racing President Murakami…

Xavier Ortiz and his gangster-leaned K-swapped Civic build…

Newly added Track Life front fender add-ons to fit the concave Volk Racing TE37…

Not sure how many of you non-Honda guys would recognize this but did you notice the front turn signals have been eliminated and filled on the front bumper of this Integra Type R?…

RHD Kev from 4bangerproductions RHD Acura Integra is one of the more notable cars from this region…

Really liked how this Aimgain Lexus IS looked with the widened body…

It wouldn’t be a car show on this side of the coast if there wasn’t at least one JZA80 Supra with a set of Ridox sideskirts…

Really aggressive wheel fitment on this custom painted S2000 on Work Meister M1 wheels…

A better angle of the Wireworx K-EK…

Tetro’s twin-turbo LS FC from the rear…

A black GSR never looked better…

This Z33 looked like it was just slightly hovering over the showroom floor…

A little bit of rain here and there didn’t stop guys from keeping their cars nice and tidy…

Right-hand drive, widebody DC5 with beefy Yokohama Advan rubber…

Something about this Porsche suits the Florida scenery just perfectly. The owner was incredibly kind as well and got out of his car while driving into the venue just to pass along a kind word…

Spoon Sports rear over fender and front fenders on this S2000…

Solid collection of parts on this S2K, from a Mugen hardtop to a Spoon Sports front bumper and more…

The centerpiece of the Cambergang booth was this PS13 coupe with rear blister fenders, wide front fenders, and deep dish Work VS-XX wheels with brushed aluminum finish…

A glimpse at the twin-turbocharged GM LS motor inside Will Tetro’s FC3S RX-7… Again, the 2016 Wekfest “Car of the Festival” aka Best of Show…

Competitor vehicles tried to get inside the venue as quickly as possible to get away from the rain…

The Candy Mandarin paint on this FD looked spectacular under the bright spotlights of the Palm Beach Convention Center…

Vince Minko’s turbocharged Integra looked a little bit out of place at the 2016 Wekfest Florida event. Not because of the lack of quality. That just isn’t the case. It’s the styling of the vehicle overall that backdates it to the early to mid-2000s. The (mostly) molded Bomex aero kit and the custom widebody panels are by today’s standards, a bit much, but I was really happy to see it at the show because of what the car meant to Vinny and why the car was there. I had a chance to talk to him while I was judging his car and he told me that he hasn’t brought the car out much to car shows since the mid 2000s when Hot Import Nights was wildly popular in that area. He had won multiple awards with this car and from a mod list standpoint, it had every aspect covered. He popped the carbon fiber hood of the Integra and other than the turbo kit and red valve cover, the engine bay was a mess, haha. I loved it. It is so “retro” to that time period that it looked like it had been taken to 2016 in a time machine to be showcased at a car show of the future. I asked him why he still had the car and he told me simply that this car meant a lot to him in his personal life and it holds quite a bit of sentimental value to him. He said that this was the car he went to prom in when he was in high school, where he went with the woman that would eventually be his wife, and he has had some of the best times of his life in this Integra with his car club. He seemed almost a little embarrassed to pop the hood because it didn’t compare to most of the Hondas in the building that had seen a significant amount of alterations in that department, but honestly, I think this was my favorite car of the event that day. I know a lot of enthusiasts who build their cars and keep their cars because of how much the cars mean to them. It may appear to be dated in style but it is almost perfect in that way because it represents a lifetime of work and memories. In the end, that is why many of us build cars….

Jason Lee’s bagged S2000 with three-stage purple paint and a custom set of Work Meister S1 wheels. Just needs some work under the hood and it’ll be a real competitor in the future…

Absolutely loved the color selection of the body and wheels on this Aimgain Lexus IS. Everything flows so well for such a wild-looking car…

Glad to see the progression of Hamilton’s S2000 in just the short time that I’ve had the chance to meet him. Crazy because I randomly ended-up being assigned to write his Super Street magazine feature not too long ago…

The SW20 chassis is a car that I always appreciated and enjoyed as a youth. Nice to see a really clean example of one present in 2016…

White Civic hatchback on black Volk Racing SE37K. Up front is a J’s Racing front lip and the sides I believe are Wings West sides…

Under the vented hood is a shaved engine bay with an H2B set-up complete with a customized ARC Induction Box…

I don’t imagine it would be very easy to keep a black Integra in immaculate condition with the Florida climate. I asked if this GSR had been repainted and indeed it has. It is now meticulously maintained and other than the Spoon Sports theme, it is essentially a restored GSR Integra with all matching numbers…

I found myself going back to John Nguyen’s supercharged Integra often throughout the morning to capture more photos of it….

Xul Colon seems to be doing big things since I first met him a couple years back at another Wekfest Florida event. He went and took a hobby of his and turned it into a real business. Now I see him XMP brand everywhere on Hondas down in the Florida area. Good for him…

RHDPepin’s DC5 RSX looking really aggressive with the widened body. I can’t for whatever reason, figure out why so many Hondas in this area decide to not run intake arms though. I guess it might be because they believe it makes the engine bay more “naked” but honestly, it just makes the bay look incomplete. Nothing like a nice intake to just give the Honda with a clean bay that “finished” look…

Lando’s Integra looked great inside and out and once he gets his interior more situated, it’ll also be right up there as one of the more competitive Hondas in this area. He also has decided to not run an intake arm and his throttle body is so big that it might eventually suck in what could be a giant bird if not for the upper radiator hose. All jokes aside though, a really nice Honda build that is almost there…

Meanwhile, check out this custom fabricated front core support on Xavier Ortiz’s K-swapped Civic…

DC5 and DC2 together in black…

Infinitewerks wheels on this bagged Acura TLX AWD…

Wrapping it up with the last show coverage of the 2016 season with another photo of this nicely executed S2000 laid out on the Palm Beach Convention Center floors…

Thanks for looking as always. 2017 is going to be insane. I look forward to seeing you all back for more…
