The day after Wekfest Japan 2017, we were invited over to Mecha-Dock in Osaka, Japan for a little spring barbecue. We didn’t really have any plans after making the drive back from Nagoya so the BBQ was perfect-timing. It allowed us to just sort of relax and recover from the show while spending time with some of our good friends in Osaka. We didn’t have a very long stay in Japan this time around so it was important that we see everyone before we headed back to Tokyo for our flight home. The weather was pretty decent on this day and I really couldn’t think of doing anything more relaxing after a long day at a car show. After the BBQ, we headed into town to do some shopping before meeting up with our friends from No Good Racing to go to a local car meet. I didn’t take any photos there since it was extremely dark but you guys saw what we did that evening if you happen to have watched the Vlog. Not much else to say really, just take a look at the photos attached. Enjoy…
Mecha-Dock has been a regular spot for us for the last few years now since we started coming to Osaka. They are highly-respected in the Honda community out there and Kazu, along with his wife, are long-time NGR members…
I guess you can say that it was more of a NO GOOD RACING BBQ since everyone we met up there were currently associated with the famed car club…
No one was really expected to bring their cars but the small lot in front of the shop was lined-up with nice builds…
Salem, who is also a hobbyist cook back at home, cutting-up some beef that we purchased from Costco to grill…
Plenty of delicious seasoned beef being grilled-up at the BBQ…
Perfect for a relaxing afternoon with friends and cars…
Waki’s EG6 Civic from NO GOOD RACING…
Everyone lent a helping hand on the grill…
Plenty of drinks to go around as well…
A static and radiused UCF20 Celsior owned by Okada from SHINE MOTOR….
The “Kanjo King” himself, Ryuichi cooking-up some meat in his Chronicles tee…
I thought this bike looked pretty cool growing out of the weeds not too far from the shop…
Yuta catching-up on social media while grubbing…
Yasu finally found some time to get away from the shop to just relax for a bit. In the weeks leading up to Wekfest Japan, he spent many sleepless nights prepping cars for the show…
It wouldn’t be a gathering at Mecha-Dock without a group of Civics from NO GOOD…
Wide fenders and thick rubber in the weeds…
Occasionally the guys would go work on the cars for a little bit but most of the day was spent away from heavy work on vehicles…
I gotta say, it always feels a little weird seeing these cars in the daylight because we’re so used to them lurking in the dark…
A trashed Volk TE37 buried in the parts bin at Mecha-Dock…
Inside the shop, Kazu’s race car was still in the process of being re-assembled. Next to it was a pretty tall stack of Yokohama Advan rubber…
The roll cage is all finished now and here you can see the custom exhaust…
Not much has changed with their EF race car. It just sits pretty in the back of the shop after its rebuild last year…
If these walls could talk, man, imagine the stories it could tell…
The gangs all here…
Backside of the SHINE UCF20…
Another look at the Civics gathered outside…
Yasu installing a Battlecraft shift knob in Waki’s EG6, which for those unaware, at one time was Yasu’s back in the day…
Crazy to think that this Celsior just cruises around at this ride height…
Yuta and my ingenious idea to create Bulgogi Pizza even though Yasu later told us that it is pretty common over there…
One more look at the Mecha-Dock EF9.
And that’s how you barbecue in Osaka… Thanks for looking…
japan is interesting as always
