The Chronicles Vlog 2017 #5 (Part 2): More Daily Car Life & Wekfest LA 2017 Kinda…

So the morning of Wekfest LA 2017, everything looked to be going pretty well. My Y33 was starting to finally come together and we had stayed-up most of the night to get the car fully re-assembled. The only delay was that the windshield installer wouldn’t be available until 9 am that morning but since set-up for the Wekfest event was going on until noon, that left us with a small but plausible window to make it. I arrived in Long Beach, CA at around 7 am to check out the set-up phase of the event and helped organize a bit. I chatted with friends and then made my way over to IDL at around 9:10 to wait for the windshield to be installed. The car still had to be cleaned too so while the guy was putting the glass in, the detailer from IDL Auto Spa was busy going over the car. Everything seemed to go well until it was actually time to get the car to the show. Tiffanie and I hopped into the car and started driving. The car had always run relatively fine, even after long periods where I didn’t drive it so I didn’t think much of it. I made my way down the street and the car started bogging down pretty badly. Like it would barely respond to gas pedal pressure and eventually even died down the street. The gas tank was pretty empty so I thought it just needed gas, so Darren from IDL brought me some gas and we were on our way again. Still, the car was bogging heavily. I chanced it and got on the highway and the car was literally dying on the road. It wouldn’t go past 40 mph and so I didn’t want to risk our safety and further and limped it back to IDL Auto Design. I sucked it up and swallowed my pride, hopped into Tiffanie’s car and just drove to Wekfest.

I really didn’t want to not bring the car, especially after so many people had stepped-up to help me get it together, but it was ultimately just not something I wanted to risk. I knew it was something stupid and simple to fix too but there was just no time. The window for Wekfest set-up had closed and so we just attended the show as spectators. I had only slept an hour or less the night before that too since we were so busy putting the car together so I just didn’t have much energy to film or shoot much of the event. In the days that followed, you guys get to see what we do on a regular, every day, basis and I give you guys some final details on how my car came together. Enjoy…
