Doridore Japan 2023 Coverage…

This was one of those events that I totally did not anticipate attending while I was in Japan a few months ago. I usually try to keep my trips pretty spontaneous so on certain days, we’ll randomly go to a car event that we just heard about the day before. Sometimes they’re a couple hours away so it probably isn’t ideal to plan so late but that’s just how things go. I heard about the DoriDore event last year while I was in Japan because our friend Yayo was hired on to be one of their official event models. I didn’t know too much about it before since it was still relatively new, but the concept of it sounded really cool. DoriDore is essentially a drift and dress-up event for enthusiasts who love the “Shakotan” style of Japanese car builds. Shakotan, for those unfamiliar, basically means an extremely-lowered car aka a car that is ‘slammed’. This event is catered to those who enjoy the Shakotan-style specifically and want to take their cars drifting while hovering ever so slightly above the tarmac. Most of the time, the cars competing aren’t dedicated drift cars. A bulk of them are show cars and that’s kinda what makes this event so fun. For once, the cars drifting actually look good, lol. Style is the number 1 driving force. It allows for these show cars to go out there and slide around without prejudice. There’s no pro driver on their ass trying to get them to go faster and these guys just get to move around at their own pace…

DORIDORE Might Be One Of The Coolest Events Ever!!…

I actually found out about this event last year when I was in Japan during Golden Week for Wekfest. I just couldn’t go. “Doridore” is one of those events dedicated to “Shakotandori” vehicles that just sounds fun to be at. It’s drifting but not so much a competition fueled by profit. The event is based more on style where enthusiasts drive the shit out of slammed cars that just look good and aren’t necessarily created to be competitive drift cars. Like, take the strict rule sets out of professional drifting and replace it with super slammed show cars that don’t care about winning. It’s a real visual spectacle. Winning is looking good while driving or parked. Style is everything. Sounds rad right? After hearing about it and seeing some photos from past events, it seemed super fun. I just didn’t have enough time to go so I had to miss it last year. When I heard it was happening again and the event itself was going to be bigger than ever, we decided to wake-up early to check it out. Boy did it not disappoint. I might have to make this a regular event to attend annually.

First Time At Fuji Speedway & The Tokyo Underground Meet!!…

Here we go! The day after Tokyo Auto Salon, I decided to skip day 2 and head to Fuji Speedway for a drift event. Normally I’d go to the show but I’ve never been to Fuji Speedway before so I wanted to get a look at the famed race track and see something I normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to. Sara is very much into drifting so she wanted to see what grassroots drifting in Japan was like. I’m always down to see new car stuff so off to Fuji Speedway we went. After that, we regrouped with friends down in Shibuya for the Tokyo Underground meet hosted by Sara and some friends from Level One Japan. She wanted to gather all the S2000s together so they were specifically parked in their own section of the meet while the rest of the underground parking garage was filled to the brim with both tuning cars and enthusiasts. It seemed like everyone from Tokyo Auto Salon gathered here after the show and the meet was an incredible success!

Hopefully you guys enjoyed the newest Vlog episode. If you haven’t please try to give it a watch, I think you guys will enjoy it. It’s one of those episodes that may feel foreign to some, because they’re so used to me covering mostly Honda-related content on here, but I think people forget that I’m just a car guy that enjoys all different makes and models. Even though The Chronicles was built on the foundation of great Honda builds, I’ve always dabbled with other styles and makes of vehicles. Hell, coming to you as a ‘Honda guy’, I currently own a Nissan, Toyota, and a Honda—and my Honda is the only car that isn’t heavily modified. I just love cars and through my many journeys all over the world documenting car culture, I’ve come to appreciate so many different sub-genres…

CLUB HANDZ x LSD 2020 Coverage… Part 1…

We’ve read and heard so many negatives about the year that has been 2020 worldwide. There has been a pandemic, so much loss, a contentious feeling throughout our country, and there doesn’t seem to be light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Everyone is having a rough year, and I can’t think of another time in my entire life where that has been so true. How is that even possible, right? It’s crazy to think that it has been such a rough time but what’s even crazier is believing that everything will change the moment we flip that calendar over to January 1st. There remains to be so many unknowns heading into 2021 and it is just a little over 30 days from now. To think that everything will change in 2021 is, frankly, unrealistic. Time, and more importantly life, just doesn’t work that way. I feel like the best way we can approach the future is to put a positive twist on it—and that’s coming from someone who hasn’t necessarily been the most positive of people. I’ll admit, I’ve gotten better with age. I’ve always been fairly ‘aware’ of who I was as a person. Most of my 20s were spent kind of in a fog, taking life as it came but always approaching it with a bit of cynicism. As I’ve grown-up, both physically and mentally, I have found myself to become a much more positive human being. I’m still incredibly sarcastic and very much a cynic, but I think I’ve figured life out. I’ve had enough experiences that have paved my way to a much more positive approach towards life and all of its many hurdles…

A Wild Weekend At Club Handz With The Boys!!… CHRNCLS Vlog 2020 #28

A Wild Weekend At Club Handz With The Boys!!… CHRNCLS Vlog 2020 #28

What a weekend! Originally I had only planned on going to the Super Lap Battle event hosted by Global Time Attack but being that it was a two-day event, I decided to make the trek back to Apple Valley Speedway once again to support my friend Kemritte’s “Club Handz” event. For those that aren’t aware, Club Handz is a grassroots drifting event put together by a group of friends that just want to go out and drive without points or politics. It’s just a great time and a real vibe (as Kemritte told me). I always wanted to go support but our schedules just never aligned. I was either out of the country or something else was going on. The stars finally aligned during this crazy year so Der and I decided to go to Club Handz on Saturday, and then head to Buttonwillow the next day for Super Lap Battle. It was a lot of driving since both tracks are in such different parts of California but well worth it to support friends!
