Eibach 2010 Coverage…Part 1: The People…

I’m gonna start off the coverage of Eibach 2010 on a different type of vibe. Every year the Eibach event goes on and all we tend to see or care to see is the cars. Sure, the cars are important but many of the hardcore Honda heads from years past who have sort of grown up around other enthusiasts shift their attention away from the Hondas and care more about just showing up to see old friends. The people are the driving force behind the Eibach meet and without these special people, the events just aren’t the same. I know many of you who are still green will not recognize these people nor care for that matter but I think it’s important to showcase these individuals because they are the heart of soul of the Honda community. They don’t worry about what cars show up, who is parking where, what the cops are doing, or why whatever area isn’t open to the general public. These people show up, wake up early not to worry about where to park, but to come help out and to figure out the parking situation for others. Others come from opposite ends of the coast just to enjoy the Socal environment and to see what it’s like out here. I’m gonna start out today by highlighting the people that I have come to know who play a major role in my everyday life. If you’re mad about it and want to see cars, well come back tomorrow or don’t come back at all. The car pics are all over the web…today, we’re gonna people watch…

This is actually a shot of them in a rare moment when they could actually relax at the end of the day. The individual on the right is the one and only Rodrez. The Eibach Meet is made possible because of this man’s efforts. Ryan aka Vtecvoodoo is the other man behind the scenes that makes this happen. He unfortunately was busy the whole day and didn’t even have a chance to chill for a picture but These two deserve all the credit in the world. Tes of course is in the middle in the new NWP4Life shirt. She was running the NWP4Life booth and making sure everyone got their gear from the best Honda Enthusiasts forum on the web today. On the very left of course is May, she’s my inspiration everyday and did such a wonderful job this past weekend of running The Chronicles booth at Eibach. I was busy in the morning helping the staff park all the cars at the event and later on in the day I was running around doing coverage for this site and for work. Without her the booth would totally failed because I only had brief moments to go back and make sure Chronicles stuff went out to spectators. I can’t say enough about her and her efforts. I honestly felt bad that I wasn’t there enough to help…

She also spent the majority of her day pre-Eibach baking cookies to hand out to people. Everybody loves cookies and people who bought some stuff from me had cookies to snack on. That and our friends were stuck there the whole day helping out so cookies are always a delightful way of entertaining our growling stomachs. You’d be surprised by how many random people came by and ate cookies made by a total stranger. I could have dropped them on the floor and shit and people would have eaten them…haha…I couldn’t thank her enough. Who thinks of baking cookies for people at an event? May does….

These two of course are none other than Alex “Sheepey” Soto and Ryan “Rywire” Basseri. Two of the great minds involved in the Honda community today. You wanna talk about trendsetters and innovators of the “game”? Look no further than two guys…It’s a pleasure knowing you two…

You all know HeyMikeyyyy but the other two, you probably don’t have the slightest clue as to who they are. But they might know you. Takeshi and Tetsuya came all the way from Japan to attend the Eibach event. Takeshi comes out every year and even picked up a USDM ITR and imported it back to Japan. Takeshi runs TypeK Autosource in Japan and Tetsuya runs USDM Jam overseas. These guys are huge fans of the US Honda community and are a huge part in bringing our style of Hondas over to other Japanese enthusiasts who are fans of ours. It’s a rare opportunity when you meet enthusiasts from all the way out in Japan so it was cool to capture the moment. They were there from early morning all the way until the very end of the event. When I left they were still there looking at whatever cars were leftover. If that’s not a true enthusiast I don’t know what is…

Phaze2 family…love these guys to death, nothing really left to say about that…

Freddie from Autofashion brought out his crew and his equipment to make sure Eibach 2010 had music. Here he is showing love to NWP by putting a sticker on his own Integra. Imagine that, a VIP guy going back to his roots and building a Honda…

Much love to Autofashion for always coming out…

The Wek’Sos family came out to represent and eat Roscoe’s like every single day. Good to see these guys getting a chance to enjoy the environment for a change seeing as how crazy and hectic Wek’Fest was this year…

Chris aka The Blizzard Man came all the way from Chicago again this year to snap photos of the event. Good to see that he actually came out early and enjoyed life out here in Socal instead of just shooting pics, dying of heat stroke, and then going back home to Chi-town…

Speaking of which, Sean Bradford aka “23 dollar burger fuck my life” also came out across the country to enjoy Eibach 2010. Here he is with Big Mike. Big Mike was busy all day fielding questions from everyone in sight. There was a constant crowd around his Prelude all day and it was much deserved…

East coast and midwest heads from both Hybrid Racing and PG+K out to enjoy Eibach 2010. I hung out with the PG+K guys all week and they’re a bunch of chill guys who came out to have a good time. It was cool meeting all of them…

BonB and S2kJay chillin in the shade…

Rywire here getting interviewed by Brandon aka “Lost is Black” for his Autolife series of documentaries covering the Socal honda community…

I haven’t seen Opi in ages, probably a good 3 years I would say…a rare appearance for sure…

Fred Chapman aka ATS*Fred. Actually met this guy playing Street Fighter long before any car stuff…Can’t wait for him to finally get a legit XBox so I can smash on him again…haha…

The homies John, Murdock, and Doug. Can’t thank Doug and Salem enough for helping with the parking situation. They helped a great deal and didn’t have to and it is much appreciated…

Noah and Mike G from AM7 fame…Eibach marked the return of the Tank and it definitely was one of the highlights of this year…

Jeremy is also first to lend a helping hand every year at Eibach events and there were some guys that even threatend to fight him because he wouldn’t let them into the gates since the event was sold out. Real classy individuals…really guys, shit ain’t that serious…

Old Skooly Shaun and “DelSolSIR” Noel crusing around towards the end of the event in Noel’s Del Sol…

Jared was also a huge helping hand in getting the cars parked in the morning. He almost got ran over too because apparently, parking is too fucking hard for people to comprehend. Jared told the guy to back-up repeatedly and somehow the guy just kept stepping on the gas and the guy’s car hit Jared’s legs and pushed him forward…

Mike G was all smiles as he got ready to load his car back onto the trailer. He’s got little things to finish up before the car is fully operational but it was nice to see him and his car out in public for once. Most people haven’t seen Mike’s Tank in 4 years or so and many of them didn’t even know that the car still existed. It was a surprise just to see it in it’s new revamped form…

That’s all I got for today…still got a lot of processing ahead of me so keep on the look-out for that. Thanks for looking and thanks once again to everyone who contributed…

  2. I love seeing this. I don’t care bout the cars as much as hanging out with everybody at ia. So I totally understand this post

  3. Awesome coverage Joey! It’s nice to see the people behind the event, your dedication to the community deserves much respect!

  4. Sweet coverage!! Always like it when you show the people behind it all. Very cool!

  5. Great shots that highlight the aspect that makes it all worthwhile… the people. Good times as always my friend. This whole weekend is going in the books. Part 1 is great, I can’t wait to see the rest.

  6. It’s not all about the cars. It’s also about the people and community that brings our scene together. The best coverage so far…
Have you ever seen Jeremy smile on camera? =P

  7. I was waiting for you to do something like this. Its rare to capture the people and really know who is who. Not everyone gets to see a face with a SN and this helps out alot and just to see that you know that the scene still has oldskool faces and new fresh faces. We all come out to see the cars but to actually meet the people is where its at! Keep up the good work Joey!

  8. It’s definitely not all about the cars. Fuck Joey it’s awesome that you have taken these shots of some of the real pioneers and trendsetters in this scene. Please don’t forget to include yourself on that list of peeps. Thanks for Part 1 homie, can’t wait to see Part 2

  9. Sup Joey!!! Good seeing you this past weekend man. Awesome coverage as always and looking foward to seeing the rest!!!
Thanx for showing some love homie and it’s great you include the people behind the scene’s & cars of the HONDA community who love what they do for this “game”.
For sure i’m going legit with the x-box so we can throw down again LOL…

  10. is it me or does it sound like you’re saying goodbye to sheepy and ryan in your caption haha?! superb coverage and a great start to it man. it truly is the people that keeps me in this scene and yes yourself included!

  11. Finally got to put a face/name together in regards to Takeshi/TypeK. Great coverage dude.

Now, where can we get those new NWP shirts/stickers? You need to make a unicorn shirt, people would be all over that!

  12. Cool to put names to faces. Good coverage. I want to come out there for Eibach next year. I have to make it happen.

  13. Awesome Coverage!!! Really enjoyed reading and learning who is who. In these events, hot cars are good but an appreciation to those who make it happen is always a plus. Great job!!!

  14. Great coverage, Unfortunately I didn’t get to make it but with all the coverage that’s been provided I feel as if I was there. Jeremy having to fight off people due to room is a bit extreme lol, I guess some people feel that strongly these days about meets and social gatherings.

  15. Thanks for the kind words Joey and thanks for all of your help on Sunday. You, Jeremy, and Leon really kicked some ass and I know Ryan appreciates it as much as I do.
I do have a feeling the “fuck rodrez and honda tuning” group on Honda Tech is going to find some way to make this a negative thing. Hahaha! Fuck em’
    Talk to you later dude
