Tuner Evolution 2012 Coverage…

If there was one trip this year that I really wish I would have made, it would have been this past weekend out to the east coast to attend the Tuner Evolution and Wekfest East events. I honestly didn’t even know that they both happened on the same weekend or I would have made a better attempt at trying to go. One of the main reasons why I didn’t know about the timing of both events is because I never even heard of the Tuner Evolution event until the Import Alliance Summer Meet a month or so ago. Turns out that it is actually kind of a big deal and enthusiasts from all over that side of the country make the trip out to Pennsylvania to be a part of it. I was randomly looking at photos online over the weekend and started seeing photos from Tuner Evolution pop-up on my Instagram feed. The name sounded familiar to me since I remembered seeing Joy Abdalla’s Subaru on their flyer so I started looking around more online to see if I could find any more pics. There were some builds at that show that I wanted to get a better look at so I hopped on The Chronicles Facebook page to see if anyone was willing to send me some photos after the weekend. Luckily Eric Badis was out there hanging out and brought his camera with him. Eric, as you know, has covered a couple of events for me out there this year and has done a great job. I know I can always rely on him to get some good photos for me and he came through once again…

What was interesting about both events being on the same weekend was that many enthusiasts that were a part of the Tuner Evolution show  just made the drive from York, PA to Edison, New Jersey for Wekfest East. It’s about a 130 mile drive so it wasn’t too difficult to get from one show to the other. For my west coast followers, the drive from both shows was probably about the same distance as driving from L.A. to San Diego so it wasn’t bad at all. If I lived out there or was visiting, I would have made the drive easily to both shows to get coverage and that’s why I was kind of bummed afterwards that I didn’t know about it. I highly doubt that it was planned for both events to share the same weekend but I think it helped out both events in the end. What more incentive do you need to make that kind of drive from out of state knowing that you could be at two major shows in two days?…

Anyways, I have some photos from Wekfest East too but I am in the process of trying to gather more content for you guys. Eric went to both shows so he covered the bulk of it but I noticed how big Wekfest East was and there were a couple of cars that I really wished he would have captured but probably just didn’t have the chance to. Doing both shows is incredibly tiring as well so I didn’t expect him to really get every single car at the show. Anyone that has done a single car show already knows how it feels to be inside of a convention hall for 10 hours, imagine doing it twice…

There isn’t too much Honda-related content from either event. What’s good about Eric Badis is that he captures a variety of cars and that’s what I like to see. He is also from Team EMOTION and already rolls with a pretty impressive group of cars so I know he’s bound to get some good stuff. Below are photos from Tuner Evolution and I will follow it up tomorrow with photos from Wekfest East. I haven’t even had time to go through the Wekfest stuff yet so I have no clue how many parts it will be or if it will even be more than one part. Just check out the Tuner Evolution stuff for today and we will go from there…

Again, I wish I was there but I wasn’t so let’s just assume that this was a rolling shot that Eric got of Jeremy Brittain’s IS350 on the drive from North Carolina to Pennsylvania…

Anyone that has made a long drive to an event already knows how treacherous some roads can be… This right here looks all sorts of sketchy driving through road construction and lose gravel…

I’m a huge fan of this IS350 build so it’s great that Eric always gets good shots of it…

I wish he would have taken more shots of the purple car to the far left… It’s actually a Japanese Domestic Market Mitsubishi FTO that the Tjin brothers imported over to the USA years ago. It is under new ownership now and looks to have a VeilSide aero kit on it… FTOs were pretty oddball looking cars so I wish I could have shown you some better shots of it…

While on the subject of wheels…man, I can’t help but think how much better this EK would look with another set of wheels other than these…Imagine like a Volk CE or TE or something, it would change the entire look of the car…Hell maybe even try a set of Work RSZ-Rs…that would look money on there…

JZA80 Supra with Volk GTS wheels… I’m convinced only Supra owners and some G35 coupe owners rock these wheels.. They are kind of like the Volk Daytona wheels of our time where they weren’t terrible-looking, but the brand itself just had so many other sets of wheels that looked better…

Rotary-powered Toyota Corolla…I don’t have an engine shot so that statement was based purely on his windshield banner. For all I know, the guy could be a authorized dealer for rotary-dial phones or some shit and it has nothing to do with engines, haha…The fact that it says “Rotary Madness Racing” indicates that it has something to do with motorsports though and not Dremel racing or something…Also, no offense meant, but even if this Corolla didn’t have Puerto Rico plates on it, I would have known the owner was Puerto Rican. These guys are the only guys really messing with these cars and they build some pretty crazy old school Toyotas…

  1. Nice builds. Seems like the East Coast is keeping on par with the West. A lot of rides rocking legit wheels. No knockoffs or replicas.

  2. Thank you for covering our event. Jay Martinez
