Haven’t really checked-in on what has been going on in the Japanese tuning community so I thought I’d bring you guys some coverage of the 2012 Slammed Society event. I believe Fatlace called this their “Hellaflush Japan” show last year but changed it over to “Slammed Society” to cater to a broader audience. By not limiting the demographic to those who are specifically into the Hellaflush style, they were able to bring in a bigger crowd of diverse vehicles. It’s always good to see the latest from that side of the automotive world because we’ve always looked to Japan for inspiration when it came to building our own cars. Things have changed over the years however and I think the U.S. and Japan are at an even playing field when it comes to style and high quality builds. Now it seems as if we are all drawing inspiration from one another and that is a great thing. I personally am always excited to see photos from their events because you just never know what you’ll find over there. There are obviously the more well-known cars from major tuning companies but from time to time, you’ll encounter some gems like the Hondas from Tactical Art. I really wish I could be there in person to experience it and maybe some day I’ll be able to just pick up and fly overseas to every major event. In the meantime, I have great photography help from guys like Koji Karimata, who has provided me with these photos today. I love using Karimata-san’s stuff on the site because I think we have a similar eye for car stuff in that he likes to cover everything. He always captures a variety to different builds and doesn’t limit himself to just one particular style. He also takes a lot of photos like I do and is very thorough when it comes to covering events. Credit goes out to him for taking the time to shoot and provide The Chronicles with this content. He usually leaves his photos untouched, which is something I really like, because I can then go through them and edit them in a way that still flows with the rest of the content from this site…
I have “Kday” coverage coming soon from Shota Mori as well but I have yet to hear back from him about the photos. He seems like a pretty busy guy but you’ll be able to stay occupied for the next couple days with this coverage from Slammed Society Japan. Make sure to check the previous posts as well if for whatever reason you missed any of the Wekfest Texas coverage. There are four parts in total so take a look at them now if you haven’t already…
The following is the first batch of photos from Fatlace’s October 6th, 2012 Slammed Society show. I can’t say I know what every car is because there are some that even I have never seen before but I’ll do my best to give you a description of what is going on in each pic…Enjoy…
