Niigata Charity Meeting 2012 Coverage…

Photos by Shota Mori

Mori-san has become one of my favorite Japanese car photographers over the last two years. I like how his shots come out and the variety of cars that he covers. Another reason why I really like looking at his photos is because the guy is just everywhere. I can’t think of another photographer over in Japan that goes to as many events as he does. The guy is willing to travel and drives his CA Accord all over the place. You first saw some of Shota Mori’s handy work when he helped me cover Takeshi Kobayashi’s Kday Season 2 event and since then, he’s hit me up on occasion to see if there are any other events that I want coverage of. That’s cool because I honestly have trouble at times finding guys who are willing to shoot and share their photos from Japan. I really can’t complain though because I have a couple of guys over there who are good and love The Chronicles enough to want to share their stuff. Today you’re going to be seeing some photos from an older event that I’ve just been sitting on for awhile now. They came into my possession a couple weeks back but I believe these photos are from September. They are from a smaller event over in Japan and dubbed the “Nigata Charity Meeting C5”. I don’t have very much information on it but by the name itself, one can assume that it’s a gathering put together for charity in support of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in 2011. Though we rarely hear anything from the result of those events anymore, Japan is still in recovery mode and very much in need of help. The way society works these days, it’s very easy to just move along and forget about something, but the people of Japan are still working very hard to put their country back together…

These photos are from that charity event and though there didn’t appear to be that many cars, there are some interesting builds that I’m sure you guys will enjoy. Thanks to Shota Mori for the photos…

The rusted and beat-up fenders on this CB3 Accord are killing me but I actually enjoy this build. It had a small feature in the last issue of Super Street (Dec. 2012) and it features a CL1 Accord Euro-R H22A swap. It’s rough around the edges but the owner actually takes this car to the track. I can’t help but think how much better it would look without the beat-up fenders but hey, it ain’t my car…

This CB Accord coupe is actually a legit LHD U.S. model…Everything about it sticks to the theme of its U.S. origins including the Racing Hart C4 wheels and Xenon front lip…

As long as I’ve been following the Honda community in Japan, I have to admit that I didn’t realize how popular the EF-chassis was until the middle part of last year and in 2012…These Civics always pop-up and most of them are pretty mint…

I’ve been trying to find better photos of this Civic on SSR Professor MS3Rs for a while now but people usually just take one snap of it at the same angle and move on. Makes me wonder if there is more to this thing…

A better look at the LB Japan Integra Type R… A lot of people aren’t going to dig the wheel fitment and camber but it’s a really clean build…I’m a fan even though I’m also a little over the whole overly aggressive wheel look…

8076696004_962c6be616_o-Edit

Speaking of aggressive, this Evo was so low that the front lip was literally just hanging off the front bumper…

Closing it out with one more photo of the white EF on Gab Sport wheels…no they’re not Rota GT3s, haha…

Have a great weekend everyone…Thanks for looking…

  1. Love all EF pics on this site. The white EF on gabs is sweet.

  2. what kind of wheels does that 4dr Ef have in the first pic, they look similar to corvette wheels?

  3. I have not seen that many EF chassis cars in one place ever.. At least not at any event I have been to on the US East Coast. They all look clean and mint. Love how they take care of a 20+ year old car. Thumbs up! Great shots too!

  4. I love how the ef and cb chassis still get lots of love in the motherland. I would kill for that black cb3..with painted fneders.

  5. you’ll see a lot of those Mazda BG moded here in Malaysia. hope to see more story about that model in Japan

  6. Amazing coverage! Im REALLY interested in seeing more pics of the purple EF SEDAN. its amazing
