Tony from It’s JDM Yo!! has been planning on doing a webcast/show for a while now based on the import scene and everything that goes on around it. We’ve just never really been able to all get together to try it out. Originally it was set to be a podcast that was downloadable but recently, he decided to create a web show that’s view-able on YouTube. I don’t really know how it’s going to go but I’m always down to help a friend out. Tony has got some wild ideas in his head sometimes but the execution side of it could use some work, so I try to lend a helping hand whenever I can. I don’t hate the idea of doing a show but at the same time, I haven’t always been comfortable about being on camera. I’d prefer to be the one taking the pictures so when you try to get me to do something on film, I don’t really know how to act. Tony really wanted me and DPK David to be on there so we decided to just give it a shot…
Below are just some photos that I took while I was at the shoot that day. The premise is pretty cool… We could definitely work on a better idea for a set but I think it works. The concept is to have sort of a round-table discussion type of thing and in the background, there will be a model shoot going on. It wouldn’t be “It’s JDM Yo!!” without at least some sort of involvement with models so Tony decided to just have a shoot go on in the background. This would provide some visual appeal to the show, instead of just staring at four guys for an hour. This would also help to provide content and advertising for the show and for Tony’s site as well…
Now, onto the pilot filming itself…Ehh, I think there are just too many kinks that we still have to figure out before the show is totally “watchable”. It helped that we did the filming that day because it showed us our mistakes and things that we had to work on for the next episode. The show just needs better structure and Tony has already begun work on putting a set list of things to discuss and what not to make the show flow better. I don’t think the first episode will even air but when the next show comes out, trust me, it’ll be 100x better than what we captured that day. If you’re interested in what industry folks have to say and how we feel about the community in general, I think it’d be a good idea to check it out. It’s not anything meant to be serious and if the first filming showed us anything, it’s that there will be a lot of really funny, light-hearted moments. It’s not like we are forced to be in a room with people we don’t know, you know what I mean? It’s all a group of friends just discussing important current events in the import scene…
Anyways, I’ll let you know if the show ever takes off or not. If not, it’ll just disappear and never get mentioned again but if it does make it to YouTube, I’ll let you guys know…
Here are the behind-the-scenes photos…
One of the first mistakes we made that evening was Tony getting too drunk before we even started filming. He felt nervous to be on camera so he decided to knock down a few drinks before going on, you know, to get that liquid courage flowing. Too bad the fucking guy doesn’t ever drink and after two alcoholic beverages, he was in fucking Narnia. Dude looked like he had popped some Mollys because this dude was sweatin’. To the point where his glasses were fogging up and everything…
DPK David killing some time on his iPhone while the crew set-up the video equipment…
The background vehicle that day that was used for the shoot was Keith aka Keychain’s Honda Accord. I liked the concept of having a shoot go on in the back so I think we’ll probably stick with that…
Tony was out of it for at least the first twenty minutes of filming, haha…
The model that day for the pilot episode was Ms. Jenn Q…
Bodyguard and expert model protector Big Abe was on set as a guest…
Tony doing his infamous iPhone boob-shot that he’s known to do…
Keychain did a bulk of the photography of Jenn Q that evening…
Daizo was the man doing all the actual filming. Here he was getting some B-roll of Jenn Q…
You guys up in Norcal might recognize her more because she is originally from the Bay Area, I believe she currently resides in Socal however so expect to see more of her out here at our events…
Thanks to Mike from Prestige Marketing for giving us a venue to use for the filming…
After we wrapped-up, it was pretty late already but we decided to go grab some dinner. Nothing else in the area was really open so we ended-up at an In-n-Out burger spot a couple miles away…
Nothing like a good burger after a hard day’s work…
Tony getting a meal in after his drunken escapade…
After hours of shooting in almost nothing, I’m sure it was comforting for Jenn Q to just let loose and eat whatever she wanted…
Here’s a quick screenshot of the raw footage that we got that day. Tony told me just a couple of minutes ago that the footage won’t be used so this is probably the only pic of us together for the pilot episode…
Thanks for looking and keep an eye out in the future for “No One Likes The Tuna”…
