One thing to note is that there’s a big difference between replica wheels and counterfeit wheels. Replica wheels are typically made to look like the real thing, but made out of more affordable materials and with less R&D / Marketing costs from the manufacturer. Counterfeit wheels are usually produced to make a quick buck and not produced by the actual company who makes it.
You have recourse with a replica wheel if something goes wrong. You have no recourse with a counterfeit wheel if something goes wrong.
You hit it on the spot. Rota is just trying to protect the value of their product. They are arguing for the sake of mfg. integrity so that no one buys unsafe chinese made products.
