Much like yesterday, this post will consist of some of my favorite builds of “Kday!” Chapter 3. Thanks again to Shota Mori for the amazing photos and hell, let’s just dive right back into it. There isn’t much left to say that hasn’t been said already so let’s just keep the good times rolling…
For those of you who may have missed out on the three previous parts of this epic journey, please click on the links below to capture the essence of this event up to this very point…

And now, on to Part 4 of 5 of “Kday!” Chapter 3…

Really enjoyed how this EF sedan comes together with the deep burgandy tone on the gold-faced custom BBS RS wheels…
The EF chassis seems to be the spotlight platform at Kday 2013. This black EF3 on Mugen M7s was just one of many, many clean examples…
Tetsuya Yamaguchi from USDM Jam made the trek over to Sendai for the event but decided to bring a non-Honda build to Kday in the form of this VW Bora that he recently completed…
One of my favorite Honda builds from Japan since the first moment I spotted it was Kohei Saito’s Midori Green EK9 Civic Type R. Saito took his CTR and converted it aesthetically to USDM Civic CX specifications. If you didn’t know, you wouldn’t even expect this to be a true EK9 Type R but it is. Just one of many cool ways where Japanese enthusiasts have really elevated USDM style tuning in Japan. I love the fact that they are willing to take a CTR and make it look like a more basic CX model, even down to the paint. Nice touch also with the Spoon Sports SW388s….
Every Kday exhibitor received one of these “Kday Likes This” license plate placards…
By far one of my favorite Honda builds of 2013 is Takehiro Hasegawa’s Mugen DC2 Integra Type R. I know it is a complete catalog car that doesn’t really stand out in the sense where it is completely “unique” but there is just something so utterly perfect about a full Mugen-equipped ITR. From the kit to the hood to the wheels, exhaust, etc. It’s catalog perfect…
I’m not gonna lie, it was a little surprising to see a fully Mugen-themed Honda from the Japanese guys because I can’t recall the last time I’ve seen a full catalog car put together over there. They either go with a very-track oriented look or go full-on USDM style like how we do things here…
A lot of people don’t really like the Mugen pinstripe but for me, it suits the car very well because it completes “the look”, if you know what I mean…
Hideo Shingu’s Integra Type R is not a full catalog car like Hasegawa’s but it is also styled and executed to be a completely timeless Honda build. Love the bug-eyed USDM ITR front end on this instead of the typical (for the Japanese anyway) JDM ITR front…
Kentaro Unuma’s immaculately clean Civic Ferio on silver 949Racing 6ULs…
A couple shots of the main man behind the “Kday!” series, Takeshi Kobayashi’s USDM Acura Integra Type R imported from the U.S. and sitting on Spoon SW388s…
The Type_K Autosource booth where you can acquire all things Stickydiljoe.com-related if you happen to reside in Japan…
Pretty awesome how Takeshi was able to get a hold of a real California license plate frame with “SPOONDC” on it… You can typically get fake ones printed but his plate is indeed the real deal…
We to this day still don’t see very many cleanly modded EP3 Civics out here in North America so it is always good to see one that is nicely executed like this one, owned by Shunichi Satou, even if it is all the way in Japan. Nothing really crazy or over the top about it. Just some mild add-ons like the lip kit and Volk Racing RE30s. I believe this might actually be a Civic Type R that’s been converted to resemble a USDM Civic SI…
Awesome to see that he’s representing the The Chronicles as well…
Honda Accord Euro-R with A-Spec lip kit on SSR Type-Fs…
Pastel, almost baby blue-like EJ Civic coupe on CCW Classic…
Koji Karimata and Masaru “MSR” Tanaka and friends always roll as a solid group together to every event but I wonder where Tanaka’s AE111 Corolla was, especially since he was the one who ended up winning the “Best of Kday” award last year…
Yasuhiro Hashiba’s GX81 Toyota Mark II that’s been converted to full USDM Toyota Cressida specifications with a full 1JZ-GTE swap…
Koji Karimata’s DSM Eclipse/Talon on old school Advan Racing VS5 wheels…
I’ve always really liked this EG6 Civic on color-matched BBS RS but unfortunately, I just don’t know very much about it…
Another build that I really dig is this FC3S RX-7 on white Enkei RPF1…
Mitsubishi Galant dumped on some OZ Racing Pegasus wheels…
Pretty wild AE100 Toyota Corolla with individually-throttled 4A-GE…
Another shot of the caged RX-7 Savanna…
Civic Shuttle on some rebarreled steelies…
Toshiyuki Yanagi’s U.S.-styled and aggressively fitted Integra Type R on CCW Classics…
Sasaki’s Tactical Art-built EK4 Ferio that’s been converted to Ferio Vi-RS spec….
Keisuke Morita from HKS Japan’s USDM Scion FR-S…
Masashi Kameoka’s modern-day Kanjo EF9 Civic SiR on CCW Classic…
Masashi’s interior is definitely not as clean as the outside of his car, haha…
Yasutaka Shimomukai’s AP1 Honda S2000 that he’s just recently had repainted…
Takayuki Saito’s EG Civic on very aggressive Work Meister S1…
I’m always very thankful that the Team Madame and Tactical Art guys represent me to the fullest. They wear my gear to every single event they go to and everyone has their tees on no matter what…
At about this point in the event, it was time to present the awards. One cool aspect of Takeshi’s event is that he actually has the winners drive up to the front where he presents them with the award in front of their cars…
Takeshi Kobayashi behind the megaphone speaking to the crowd…
Masaki Morohashi striking a pose next to his S13 Silvia…
The UA5 Honda Inspire that you’ve seen a couple times previously in my coverage from Japan was up front to take home the “Akebono USDM” award…
The owner of the UA5 holding up the Akebono award…
I was a little curious as to why this particular build won the “Type_K Award” so I asked Takeshi personally and this is what he told me;
“The Plymouth Colt Vista is a car that was originally produced by Mitsubishi motor company. Even people in America aren’t very well aware of this car because it was never a popular car in North America. In Japan, USDM culture has existed for over 20 years now for those who really loved American culture and were considered ‘maniacs’ because of how much effort that put into bringing American culture to Japan. The owner, Morimitsu-san, really wanted to show how much of a USDM fanatic or maniac he was by not only building a nonpopular chassis in both parts of the world but also executing USDM style in full detail with the car. There’s no better way to show how much love you have for a particular genre than by taking something that nobody cares about and putting maximum effort into it. The significance of the Papa John’s Pizza Delivery sign was merely to show his love for American culture because it would make the car look as if it were simply a basic pizza delivery vehicle in somewhere like California. He also happened to make the 1300 mile drive to Sendai for the event and then drove another 1300 miles back home in the span of 4 days so it really showed how important the event was to him. He lives in the Kagoshima Prefecture which is pretty far and so I wanted his efforts to be recognized.”

Morimitsu-san and his award with the Colt Vista in the background…
The big winner of the day (or Kday, haha) was Masaki Morohashi and his S13 Silvia that won the “Best of Kday” award. Morohashi’s Silvia has been through a couple different stages but this is by far his best. He went from converting the car originally to the 180SX flip-up light front end to resemble a USDM 240SX coupe to going back to the JDM S13 face, which in essence, is USDM style because a properly executed S13 here in the States would have been converted to the Silvia face. That in combination with him taking the effort to convert his interior over to a more USDM-look makes this car very detail-oriented and perfectly catered to USDM enthusiasts…
Kobayashi presenting the “Best of Kday” award to Morohashi… Congrats to him and the other winners…
Takeshi thanking the crowd for coming out and thanking them for donating to the Earthquake and Tsunami Relief fund…
After the awards commenced, Shota Mori got back to capturing some more cars that he missed earlier…
Masaki Fukuda’s white EG Civic on Work RSZ-R… Thanks to Fukuda-san for being a supporter of The Chronicles…
Clean white EK9 Civic Type R…
Seiya Suzuki’s Phoenix Yellow Integra Type R on Stark Renn Sport wheels…which people often mistake as “Stark RC” but I’ll get into that another time. Love the yellow Recaro seats in there….
Akifumi Ikeda’s Honda Integra Si-VTEC on white Volk TE37s. I’m sure you guys will recognize this car more when it used to have the bronze Volk SE37K…
Daisuke Ito’s DC5 Honda Integra Type R on bronze Mugen MF10…
Nice clean Civic Ferio on Desmond EVO Brites…
Gonna close it out here for today with a shot of Kouji Matuzaka’s AP2 S2000 on Volk Racing TE37SL. This S2K has certainly become a regular lately here on the site…
That’s all for today. Just one more part to go before we wrap up this series of photos. Thanks for looking and stay tuned for more!…
Great coverage as always. I really dig the wagon bumpers on the hatchbacks!

Damn, I cant believe CCW replicas are being rocked in Japan. Those are most definitely not Classics on that baby blue koop.
