Wekfest Los Angeles 2015 Coverage…Part 1…

Damn, these just seem really dated now with all that has gone on in the last month or so. The trouble with having both Eibach and Wekfest LA so close together is that it adds to the bulk of work I already had from my Japan trip. There are a few builds that go to both events too so it can feel a bit redundant. I think many of the guys realize that though so they always have either a completely new set-up for the show, or they come out with some new additions for Wekfest LA. To be perfectly honest with you guys, I feel like the Los Angeles Wekfest event is quickly surpassing the Norcal show as the front-runner for the best event in the nation. The Norcal event has long been considered the “Super Bowl” of the series but the LA show is getting incredibly popular. More people seem to show-up every year and more importantly, all kinds of new builds from other states make the trek out for the WFLA event. I think maybe the combination of being in Socal and being able to participate in the show is the appeal of coming to this area but I see more and more out-of-state people visiting annually. Norcal has plenty to do also but I think Los Angeles is just the “hotter” destination, if you will, because of all that comes with the lifestyle out here. I guess if I didn’t live in Cali and you gave me an option, I’d probably pick Socal too because there just seems to be more that happens down here. I personally love hanging out in Norcal and doing stuff in San Francisco but that’s because I live down here…

The show this year was the best yet. I love the diversity of the cars and all the people who visit every year. I’ve come to meet many people during my adventures on the nationwide Wekfest Tour so it is great to see these faces out here in California. The whole idea of people willing to visit to see what we have to offer is a great thing. I think it really helps to push the community forward when people can travel out here to see the best that the West has to offer because then they can go home and tell their friends about it. They then too can get excited about it and it just brings a much more diverse group of enthusiasts to California. Unlike year’s past, the weather was actually pretty spectacular too so people weren’t running to look for shade during the sweltering summer day. There was a nice breeze throughout the day and it really helped to capture that Southern California vibe. The Long Beach venue is always a really cool spot for car shows too because it is so scenic and there is plenty to do around it. I had a great time just hanging out with friends and capturing all the great cars there. Below is what I shot that day in Long Beach. Enjoy….

The great thing about this is that the did all the work himself inside of a garage in Arizona. When I first heard he was putting this car together, I had no idea he’d be making like custom aero for it as well and the whole car is just very, very, interesting….

  1. Jeremy’s Prelude is doing a good job of holding it down for the BB’s since Big Mike started redoing his car. Great to also see the pix of Ryan’s 4WS, that car is just dreamy!

  2. Loving the photography on those first few shots; great angles!

Been a while since I’ve checked out the PreludePower forum, I thought Ryan was parting out the 4WS (I even tried to buy his Bisi header). Didn’t know Big Mike was changing things up again either, I’ve got some catching up to do. I’ve always been a big Prelude fan (if only those back seats weren’t so pointless, I’d have one), that black one is gorgeous!
