Damn, these just seem really dated now with all that has gone on in the last month or so. The trouble with having both Eibach and Wekfest LA so close together is that it adds to the bulk of work I already had from my Japan trip. There are a few builds that go to both events too so it can feel a bit redundant. I think many of the guys realize that though so they always have either a completely new set-up for the show, or they come out with some new additions for Wekfest LA. To be perfectly honest with you guys, I feel like the Los Angeles Wekfest event is quickly surpassing the Norcal show as the front-runner for the best event in the nation. The Norcal event has long been considered the “Super Bowl” of the series but the LA show is getting incredibly popular. More people seem to show-up every year and more importantly, all kinds of new builds from other states make the trek out for the WFLA event. I think maybe the combination of being in Socal and being able to participate in the show is the appeal of coming to this area but I see more and more out-of-state people visiting annually. Norcal has plenty to do also but I think Los Angeles is just the “hotter” destination, if you will, because of all that comes with the lifestyle out here. I guess if I didn’t live in Cali and you gave me an option, I’d probably pick Socal too because there just seems to be more that happens down here. I personally love hanging out in Norcal and doing stuff in San Francisco but that’s because I live down here…
The show this year was the best yet. I love the diversity of the cars and all the people who visit every year. I’ve come to meet many people during my adventures on the nationwide Wekfest Tour so it is great to see these faces out here in California. The whole idea of people willing to visit to see what we have to offer is a great thing. I think it really helps to push the community forward when people can travel out here to see the best that the West has to offer because then they can go home and tell their friends about it. They then too can get excited about it and it just brings a much more diverse group of enthusiasts to California. Unlike year’s past, the weather was actually pretty spectacular too so people weren’t running to look for shade during the sweltering summer day. There was a nice breeze throughout the day and it really helped to capture that Southern California vibe. The Long Beach venue is always a really cool spot for car shows too because it is so scenic and there is plenty to do around it. I had a great time just hanging out with friends and capturing all the great cars there. Below is what I shot that day in Long Beach. Enjoy….
Rob The Crook from Crooks & Castles’ Liberty Walk Ferrari 458 Italia on custom Floss Design BBS LM…
Rob The Crook’s Rauh Welt 930 Porsche with RWB Royal Fenders for that added girth….
I was originally going to bring my Infiniti Q45 out to WFLA but since Mikey was so happy with how his new Leon Hardiritt Ordens looked on his LS but had no driver to bring it to the show, I decided to keep mine home and cruised out in his car instead….
S2000 from BRG running a Voltex front bumper, ASM fenders, and Desmond EVOs…
Chad’s pristine and incredibly-rare Mugen NA1 NSX that is in the current Super Street “Honda Issue”. I really hope people appreciate this car because it could possibly be the only one you will ever see in your lifetime with a complete Mugen kit…
Mickey Andrade’s RHD EG6 Civic as driven by his girlfriend Courtney Day…
Side profile shot of Rob’s LB 458…
Ryan Seiler’s F20B-powered Prelude 4WS SI…
Wekfest LA 2015 marked the official California debut of Chen Huang’s Integra Type R build. He actually made the trek out from Iowa for the Wekfest event and it was great to finally see his car come together….
Jeremy Allgier’s BB4 Prelude looking great as always. Love the concave white TE37s on there. Gives the car a much more aggressive feel…
Nice to see Son from Hasback’s Civic out and about again….
Seiler’s Prelude with the custom front lip and Spoon SW388 wheels…
Cut rear bumper, Mugen Gen. II rear wing, Mugen Sides, and over fenders added on top of the J’s Racing FRP fenders to house NSX-spec Mugen MF10 wheels…
Cooper Boudia’s Spoon-themed Integra…
Side-profile view of Chen’s ITR…
One of the more talked about builds of the 2015 Wekfest LA event was this custom Honda F20C-powered Model A owned and built by James Schwartz….Yes, you read that correctly, an S2000-powered hot rod…
Austin Lee’s Y33 Q45 from Low’N Slow crew….
Jason Haradon’s Civic always on a different set of wheels. For WFLA, he rolled out on some 16-inch Mugen M7s…
Jared Aguila’s Mugen SS S2000 from DPK….
Rear end of Chuy Navarro’s PY ITR with a peek at his custom roll bar from Stanton Automotive…
Some more of James’ S2000 Hot Rod build. It was a shame he didn’t pop the hood to show-off the Honda engine but I think he was still in the process of making better mounts for it and wasn’t happy with the way it looked…
So weird to see an S2000 cluster in this type of chassis, as well as the steering wheel quick release and upside-down side mirrors…So bizarre but bizarre in a really cool way…
The great thing about this is that the did all the work himself inside of a garage in Arizona. When I first heard he was putting this car together, I had no idea he’d be making like custom aero for it as well and the whole car is just very, very, interesting….
Some more of Chen’s Integra Type R, including a look into the engine bay with his individually-throttled K-swap…
Yellow ICB Japan seats to match the interior which houses a collection of Mugen components…
Luis Jaimes re-emerged at WFLA ’15 with a new look. The engine bay was still the same with the new ITBs but the face of the Civic has been switched over to a Sergeant front bumper mated to a Mugen front lip…
The Spoon Sports-themed EF8 CR-X that debuted at the Eibach Honda Meet just weeks before…
Jose Jaimes’ CR-X on 15-inch Volk Racing TEs with a thick Toyo R888…
Dave Chik’s DA Integra with JDP front lip, Mugen side skirts and Mugen M7 wheels…
Jon Tran’s custom Hyundai Genesis coupe build reppin’ Low’N Slow crew and VIP Modular wheels…
This Rocket Bunny S13 hatchback was looking pretty good in its under-construction phase. The car didn’t even have a motor yet but it didn’t stop the guys from ROBROS CUSTOMS from bringing it out for display…
Ray Deleon’s Integra GS-R looking consistently good as always…
A couple more of Jeremy’s Prelude build which is currently one of my favorite Hondas floating around out here in Cali…
One of the rare domestic builds present at Wekfest LA 2015…
SW20 MR-2 Turbo on custom-built Blitz Type-03 wheels…
Tovar’s custom widebody NA1 NSX with retrofitted NA2 NSX front bumper and Dunlop Formula Hart wheels…
I have a couple more shots of this S2000 for the next post but this was easily one of the best Honda builds of the entire event. Love the use of ASM parts mixed with the Amuse Legalo Face fenders and canards….
Incredibly aggressive WCI wheels mated to this Rocket Bunny Ver. 1 Scion FR-S….
J32 Honda V6-swapped Civic hatchback with Isuzu Gemini/Honda Domani front end conversion…
Widebody, Vortech-supercharged, S2000 on Arcane Streetwalker wheels…
Interesting to see a Spoon Sports front bumper mixed with J’s Racing fenders and rear over fenders. Not sure if the lines really work that well together but I can dig it. Nifty turbo set-up under the hood too…
Sam Ip’s Spoon Sports-themed NA2 NSX sitting on brand new Mugen M7-inspired 3-piece Arcane wheels…
Closing-out Part 1 of 2 with a shot of Michael Mao’s freshly redone twin-turbo NSX featuring a complete Route KS Super Madonna aero kit…. I think I have some more photos of this coming too. I gotta look…
In any case, that’ll wrap Part 1 for now. Thanks for looking!…
I might be wrong but I thought ray’s DB had a type r engine in it.
It’s does. It’s the Motor from his ITR.
Jeremy’s Prelude is doing a good job of holding it down for the BB’s since Big Mike started redoing his car. Great to also see the pix of Ryan’s 4WS, that car is just dreamy!
Loving the photography on those first few shots; great angles!
Been a while since I’ve checked out the PreludePower forum, I thought Ryan was parting out the 4WS (I even tried to buy his Bisi header). Didn’t know Big Mike was changing things up again either, I’ve got some catching up to do. I’ve always been a big Prelude fan (if only those back seats weren’t so pointless, I’d have one), that black one is gorgeous!
I think the yellow nsx was my fav.. jaw dropped, love how hes got the staggered dish on those mugen style wheels.
