Dave Chik’s Civic featuring the new Exceed V2 front lip…

A week before Wekfest San Jose, I had Dave’s Civic sitting here at the shop because we needed to install the new Exceed Version 2 front lip to debut at the show. He’ll be the first one to tell you that his Civic isn’t a ‘show car’ but myself and everyone around him thinks otherwise. It’s such an incredibly well-built car with some many nice detail touches. To us, it’s the perfect choice to run the new Exceed front lip. The Version 2 lip comes on the heels of the discontinuation of the original Exceed lip. It goes without saying, and it might be obvious to some, but the relationship between Exceed and Mode Parfume is now non-existent. The two companies parted ways due mainly to a difference in views and ethics so Yasu set-off to create a new variation of the popular Exceed lip…

The Version 2 lip is similar in the way it looks to the original but the bottom section is now separate, making it now a 2-piece lip. The bottom section is also slightly wider and also comes in both FRP, like the original, and carbon fiber. This will be the first time the Exceed lip has come in carbon fiber and it first debuted at Wekfest Japan on my own EK9 in Japan. With the San Jose Wekfest event approaching, we thought it was an appropriate time to debut both FRP and carbon versions of the V2 front lip for the first-time in North America. Dave received the FRP lip, which he had color-matched before installing here at the shop, and Andy Mai from Northern California got the carbon fiber iteration. Both cars were then debuted at Wekfest at the Battlecraft/Exceed Japan/CHRNCLS display…

Before the show however, I had a free day to take Dave’s Civic out to get some photos of the new set-up. I wanted to get photos of the car before it went up to San Jose since photos of the car inside a convention hall isn’t the most ideal locale. Those dim fluorescent lights just don’t do this Civic justice so I waited for the sun to come down a bit, grabbed my camera, and gave the car a good 20 minutes before the sun went down. The photos came out exactly how I wanted them and it felt like the perfect way to unveil the new Exceed V2 lip to a national audience…

  1. Aw heck ya, love these kinds of posts! Such a beautifully pieced ride. So cool to see Japanese friends or such other companies still supporting the old Civic platform.
