Had to make my annual trip down to San Diego to be a part of the Autofashion Festival, an event I’ve been attending as long as I can remember. I grew up doing car stuff in San Diego and when I was first trying to find my footing in the community, I’d tag along with Freddie, Elroy and Kevin to various events. My car didn’t really fit in with their’s at the time but they were always hospitable and made me feel welcome. Now that we are all older, it’s nice to look back and see how far we’ve all come since then…
San Diego is about an hour and a half away, a nice smooth drive in the GR86 and the car was still clean from the Gran Turismo event the evening before. Another reason I wanted to go besides seeing all the familiar faces was to check-out the Garage Active 34GTR M-Spec which arrived just days before from Japan. It was supposed to be on display at the Toyo Treadpass but didn’t clear US Customs until mid-week so it didn’t even get to SEMA until I had already left. I was surprised to hear it was coming because it’s actually Sakamoto’s daily 2.8L RB-powered R34 which is currently still registered for road use in Japan! Not only that, he actually drove it around when it was here, even from Los Angeles to San Diego, lol. The true definition of being down for whatever…
The day played-out pretty chill, got to walk around the show with friends, chat with many others and even got to watch some football. Afterwards I had to make an emergency visit down to my parent’s place because my dad got a new phone and didn’t know how to pair the Bluetooth to his truck, lol. Good thing I was already down there. I even got to show my parents what the GR86 looks like with the Voltex Street Version II kit on which I’m sure they didn’t even notice…
Thanks for looking!…
