Random shot…Drifting Accord?!…

Cool photoshopped image of an Accord drifting with the Blitz Skyline livery. This photo inspired me to do my own photoshop image of a honda drifting….I mean, I’m not Picasso….but it came out pretty ridiculously awesome….

Come on, look at that motherfucker….Not only is it like a chop-top hatchback…Signal Auto style…but it’s also rocking a Buddy Club front bumper…Shit is so sick that the driver is rodeo drifting it. Look at him, it’s like he’s gonna fuckin Shoryuken some shit. I didn’t feel that the chopped image above did a good enough job with the tire smoke so I literally drew in the word “smoke” for extra emphasis. And the driver also has tassles on his arm ala Ultimate Warrior. If the image didn’t take so much memory because of the sheer quality of it, I would have colored it in too….Don’t worry, there’s a K-series in there. With like some ITB’s. You can’t see with all the smoke but there’s a Benen tow hook in the back too. And you bet your ass that there’s some doll or some shit hanging off the rear tow hook.

Yeah it’s been a slow week.

Sticker Update…

For you guys that ordered stickers, they’ll get out to you soon enough. I realized that the ones I’ve been using are kinda small and hard to see. So I’m working on getting them bigger so they’re more visible…

Gonna make them like windshield banner size …. yeah…. And like VeilSide whaletale spoiler size…

Eibach Coverage…Part 3…

Alright back with the rest of the pics…

Saw this Fit roll in a bit after everyone else came in. I don’t know her name or anything but Leon calls her “JDM Ho”. Where Leon got the name from I don’t know, but everytime he tells me a story about an encounter with one of these girls, it makes me wanna take a shower. And I’ve seen some pretty perverted things in my lifetime. Everytime I hear a story from the guy it involves like boob fondling, some insertion of some kind, and possibly an earhole or nose hole….

I’ve been seeing a growing number of purple S2000′s lately. This one was probably one of the first. This S2k is from San Diego and it’s the only car I’ve ever seen with Jongbloed wheels. Yeah Jongbloed wheels. I believe it’s pronounced “Youngblood”. The design of the face may not be for everyone but they’re true track wheels from what I hear and made in the USA…

Keeping with the theme of purple S2000′s, this one belongs to NWP user “Tnepo”. I believe this shade of purple has more flake in it whereas the other one looks darker in color. Then again, I don’t know shit about purple or colors in general. Just take my word for it. Next to him is Black Pie’s from DPK….

Carlos aka Mugen Boy told me about a 4-door Civic that he was working on for a daily a while back when I sold him some stuff. I had no idea this was the result. This guy’s daily drivers look better than most peoples show cars. Crazy guy…this Ferio-inspired 4-door looks great. Too bad I didn’t get the chance to go up and take a closer look…

Gump and Jimmy from DPK also rolled up with Carlos.

Here’s another really clean 4-door. I always see this Civic around and always top to take a look at it…

Not sure who’s S2000 this is but saw it rolling up and added it to the collection of other clean S2000s that were at the event…

Kinda iffy on this one… =P Something very “DUB” about this one. I don’t have a pic of the front of it but it had like a Strut grille or something on it…To each their own…

Caught this DC2 on the side of the building….Nice to see people rolling on real Work Equips and not Drag or whatever…

I will leave you guys with this…There were definitely alot of cars like this on the lot, some of them even far worse…but I can’t deny this guy’s ingenuity…Very JDM. VERY.

Thanks for looking…

Eibach Coverage…Part 2…

Whew…finally got a chance to sort through all the pics. I’m sure you’ve already heard about how huge the turn-out was but unless you were actually there, you wouldn’t believe the sheer horde of people that arrived…

Everyone was lined up outside for whatever reason like they were giving out free bj’s or something. The facility is so huge that it really made no sense for people to be by the driveway. Not only did it add to the traffic in and out of the building but it also made it difficult for cars to come in and people were smashing their front lips on the driveway…

Leon Casino arrived to lend a helping hand to the limited staff that was available. Luckily law enforcement was understanding that day and though the line stretched down the street, they were still able to accomodate practically everybody…

This was the scene inside the facility. The whole lot was filled and as we were coming in, we could already see how full the back of the lot was from the freeway. Truly an amazing scene considering this was just supposed to be a simple meet and was not heavily advertised on other messageboards. Despite reports of rain and well, rain throughout the week, the weather was perfect. You can see our cars parked by the front. Luckily we didn’t have to wait outside too long thanks to…

…the guy on the right. We also ran into Tom, who never shows up for anything. If you don’t know Tom, there are two things you need to know: 1. He doesn’t ever show up for anything. 2. He is always appropriately dressed for the occassion. At last year’s annual Eibach meet, it was 108 degrees or so and what did he wear? A long sleeve soccer jersey of course. This year it was like high 70′s and he brought out his lumberjack uniform…

This was the scene by the time we arrived. I’m estimating about…umm…I don’t know…like maybe 1,000 cars or so? Not really sure because I don’t walk around counting cars but as you can see, there were alot. This wasn’t a show mind you, so I’m not gonna lie to you. Alot of shitty cars were there. But you can’t go into a gang bang and expect everyone to be hot you know…

It took awhile for Arnel (Phaze2 EG) and Sid (Phaze2 DA) to get inside but as soon as they did, Arnel was excited to show us what Sid had done to his engine bay…

Once he popped the hood a crowd formed to catch the first glimpse of Sid’s newly finished purple bay. This DA has been going through alot of changes lately and it’s definitely headed in the right direction. Like many of the other Phaze2 rides, he carries over the theme of having a simplistic exterior with aggressive stance and wild two-tone engine bay…

I’ve had shots of this S2K before from other events that I’ve covered and someone mentioned to me that this S2000 belonged to Nancee. I remember her Integra from before and this is her new project. The last time I saw it, it had a set of high offset Volks on it and no hardtop. It’s definitely well on it’s way now. The Blitz wheels fit great on their and the addition of the hardtop really sets it off. Purple seems to be a very popular color choice this year. I’ll be keeping my eye on this build throughout the year to see what else is coming…

Definitely cool to see S2000′s in colors other than the common silver, black, and white. This candy red one belongs to Alex Zhao. I think he mentioned somewhere on this site that he wanted me to get a pic of his car on here. I normally don’t honor requests but I have faith that he has my check in the mail. I also accept Paypal.

I don’t know what it is about this Element that makes two men want to caress eachother…

Everyone is familar with The Chronicles’ #1 Honda of 2008…I don’t have a shot of the S2000 next to it for whatever reason but you’ve seen it here before. It belongs to DC5 Jared…

Speaking of S2000′s, Silentdancer aka TJ and his buddy brought out their rides. TJ is rolling on a set of teal BBS wheels and his friend was rolling on TJ’s mag blue CE28s…

Norman and AS1 were present along with all of Norman’s 6 kids. I personally think the Work S1′s are the best set of wheels he’s had on his sedan but he’s trying to sell them….

Two other AS1 cars…

Next to the AS1 hatch is another Civic that I’m sure you’re all familiar with. HBK Gabe was the only Hasback car that I saw that made it inside the lot. It got too crowded and the other guys took off to go do a photoshoot of their own…

Damn, this server is being such a bitch lately. First this server is down and when it starts working again, Photobucket is acting up. I would have really liked to get this whole update finished but I guess it’s not really allowing me too. It’s almost 6 am and I’m tired of waiting back and forth….I’ll get the rest to you guys ASAP….

I got issues…

Besides the voices in my head I mean. Server was down for the majority of the night so I couldn’t get the second half of the Eibach coverage in. Plus I’m still waiting on some pics that didn’t get to me for me to edit and ruin, etc…

Plus it’s Chinese New Year. You know in Hong Kong, people usually get the days off and only restaurants and shit are open. Just thought I would pass that along to you guys. Happy New Year….I’ll get more stuff up when I get the chance.

Eibach Coverage Part 1…

Damn what a turn-out…That pretty much sums it up. We showed up at around 12:20 or so and it was packed. Cars were literally spilling out of the lot and there was a long line down to the adjacent street. Luckily Rodrez and the staff let us in and we had pretty prime spots…

I don’t quite have the pics that we took from the event yet so these are just shots that other people took. Credit to whoever shot these…I looked through many threads already and just grabbed what I did temporaily. Some guy took like 30 pics of the sky or some shit leading up to the event and it almost blew up my computer loading all that stuff up. Anyways, I’ve never seen so many people at one meet before. I was a bit puzzled as to why so many people hung out by the gate and outside the meet though instead of walking around to check out the cars inside. I mean, it took you forever just to get inside, why would you then just go back to the outside and stare at cars coming in? Weird…

I hear alot of people on the net bitching about how it was too crowded. Honestly, how the fuck are you gonna complain that there are too many people at a meet? It’s a meet. People spend so much time bitching about how meets are dead and they don’t stay behind because it’s not “poppin” but then when you finally get a meet of this sheer magnitude and all people do is bitch. Just proof to the world that you really can’t please everybody. I mean, it’s not a car show. If it were the case I’m sure things would be more sorted out but no one had any idea that this many people would show up. I also hear alot of people bitching about how alot of the cars were beat up and janky….umm. Yeah so the fuck what? The staff at Eibach and people helping out have no control over how nice people’s cars are. If you’re tired of the janky cars coming, leave your shit at home and car pool with your homies. Haha…I’m probably just joking but still. Honestly, I would rather not see some of the cars that showed up either but then I have a mind of my own and I don’t stand there and stare at them all day. I kinda just use my brain to filter those cars out and check out the nicer cars. You know what I mean?

Someone mentioned that the cars should have been filtered out or turned away if they weren’t up to par. Who’s to judge? And who’s to say that you wouldn’t get turned away right? What if the Eibach staff had impossibly high standards and you got turned away. Then you would have something else to complain about. It’s an endless cycle. I’m sure they were sorry that it rained over the weekend too and you showed up with a sweater on and realized that it’s kinda hot in Corona.

Too many people fail to remember that it was just a meet. It wasn’t even an NWP event where their were awards giving out and what not. It was merely a gathering of enthusiasts. Just so happens that alot of enthusiasts had time to show up. For the three or so Eibach staff members that showed up, they sure did a hell of a job getting as many people in as they could and helping others get in as people went in and out.

If you couldn’t get in, I’m sorry. Nostradamus didn’t even predict that it was gonna be this crowded…Then again others also showed up in a timely fashion and waited for their spots. Complain to those guys who planned ahead…

Coverage and cars that stood out will be up tomorrow. Thanks for viewing….

Eibach this Sunday…

What’s goin on this weekend? Well, judging by the beautifully done flyer by your’s truly, the guys over at Eibach Springs in Corona, CA are throwing a meet. No, this is not the annual Eibach Honda meet. This one is just a gathering at the beginning of the year to get the ball rolling, so to speak.

Yup, it’s time for an Eibach Meet. And this is for everybody! Honda, VW, Subaru, Mitsu, etc etc.Date: Sunday January 25th
Place: Eibach Springs in Corona
Time: 12-4pm

Now I know alot of you guys have trouble looking up the address on Mapquest or Yahoo! maps or whatever because it just doesn’t show up. It’s quite simple actually, it’s near the 15/91 interchange. Just take the 91 east freeway and exit McKinley and make a right. After the right, you’ll see a Carl’s Jr. and what not and then you make a right on Sampson at the intersection. Then take Sampson all the way until you see Mariah Circle. Go up the hill and by then you’ll probably begin to see alot of other cars and the Eibach facility is at the end of the street.

I’m sure everyone knows the rules, no asshole burnouts, driving like a jackass, or racing your friends to look cool. Trust me, girls don’t care about that shit anymore. They like hyphy shirts, tight ass jeans, and emo haircuts. Better to just throw a bunch of purple shirts and hoodies on then drive like a fuckface and get yourself in trouble. Corona PD has been great in the past and has let events at Eibach go on without a hitch. The only time they pull people over is when they see people driving like idiots. You can read all the stories on the net about getting popped or what not, but the people that usually do actually deserve it. I will warn you to be careful with your property though. I mean, everyone should just lock up and be careful anyway.

This meet is open to ALL makes and models so don’t be discouraged to come if you don’t drive a Honda. Oh and seeing how it’s raining outside right now, the event is scheduled to go on, rain or shine. But in the event of a severe thunderstorm, or a fucking tornado or something, check the thread the day of the event. Please pass the word along to all your friends and internet forum buddies and tell them to come hang out. Let’s bring in the new year on a high note by having fun at a great meet. Please respect the rules and all will be well…

VIP-style TL and Accord…

When you normally think of the term “VIP” in the Japanese tuning world, you rarely ever think about Hondas. That scene is usually left for the Toyota/Nissan crowd and it is really rare to see a Honda styled in such a way. Many purists argue that Hondas can’t be “VIP” because they’re not really luxury high-end model vehicles. The term “VIP-Style” was then created and used when associating any vehicle that is themed in such a way, but not meeting the criteria of being a high-end vehicle…

I’ve always loved the way the cars looked in the VIP community. I am very big on the stance of a vehicle and nothing commands more road presence then a big luxury car hammered on some Japanese VIP wheels. I remember I always wanted to try to build a VIP-styled car. I would look at VIP magazines when I was younger at my local Mitsuwa market and would always talk amongst my friends telling them that we would be the first to bring that scene over here. The reality of it was that we were kids at the time and had no idea how hard it was to get a Lexus/Infiniti, etc., let alone afford the parts for it. 10 years later and I’m still trying to afford some of the parts for it. I’m sure everyone knows by now that I sold my Honda so that I could attempt to attain my goal of building a VIP ride. Totally bad timing with the whole economy being in the shithole with me not having a consistent paycheck. I am happy to say that I am on my way though, even though it’s taken me alot longer than I would have ever imagined. But better late than never right?…

The thing that made me miss being apart of the Honda community was the fact that I kinda upped and left the community by selling my car. The only reason I remain is because a large portion of my friends are heavily involved and for work purposes. I definitely still love the community and everyone understands why I sold my car. I mean, I have personal goals and dreams. The people around me are important but I definitely do want to accomplish what I set out for myself. If it was easier for me to find an Acura RL/Legend that was in mint condition with low miles, trust that I would have definitely jumped on it. It just wasn’t plausible. My friend offered me a deal on a car I couldn’t refuse and I took it because I saw it as a golden opportunity to work towards my dream. Believe me when I say I still find myself looking for an RL sometimes when I’m online. When I see one on the street I even take a second look at it because I can see myself doing alot of great things to that platform. I don’t give a shit about it not being a “high-end luxury” car. I trust my own ability enough that the final product won’t leave many people in doubt about “VIP”…Hell if you got an RL with a straight body and under 100k, hit me up, we can talk…

Anyways, I should probably talk about the pic at the top. I’ve seen a couple of TL’s that have been fixed up but the TL pictured above is the first “VIP-styled” TL of that generation. Looks crazy on that air  set-up and wheel fitment. I love it. I wish I had a TL like that. My parents do but the hood has a dent on it because my dad decided to argue with some guy on a bicycle one day at a stoplight and that fool straight punched the hood. True story.

The TL is on Air Runner suspension and Work LS wheels. I gotta give some love to Hawaii. Those guys go all out when they build cars. Shits crazy. Makes you wonder how they get all that cool stuff and have the ability to afford all of it. I don’t know shit about living on an island though because I am probably the only asian in the world that cannot swim. So you’ll understand that I generally stay away from water that goes over my waist. Living on an island would be counter productive for me. This TL is sick, props on being one of the first to attempt to build one of these things. They’re really nice cars and a blast to drive. If you’re the owner, sorry but I edited your photos to be more presentable. You’re doing a good job so far building the TL but your photography is horrible…haha…The first pic was so off center that it made me wonder if you actually fell while taking the picture…

On the topic of Hawaii, this VIP-style Accord is also from the 808. I’ve seen a couple of these done in a similar fashion but this one is definitely one of the cleanest…

The grille looks to be a Honda Saber grille and the fogs custom fit, because the fitment isn’t 100%. Front lip is probably a Wings West piece. Altogether with paint you wouldn’t be able to tell it apart. It would probably make you think that everything was one piece. The black-housed headlights add a nice touch also…

Almost there, just need a couple more things. Wheel fitment can be a little more aggressive but thats not absolutely paramount…Needs some chrome door handles and pillar accents. Trunk also needs a couple kilos of nose candy and a beat-up hooker and we’re set….Again props to the 808 state. You guys always come with the creativity…

Man I miss working on cars….Need to get back on the grind so I can get back into it.

Quick snap…random shots…

Don’t got much for you guys today, my internet has been acting up all night and hasn’t even been working most of the time. So in this brief moment when I can get a solid connection I leave you with this….

…super rare Mugen wood…

…and an ITR in the dumpster. It’s “DUMPED” get it? haha…yeah not that funny. Maybe whoever tossed this thing in the garbage can donate their red emblems to this guy on Honda-Tech that’s trying to justify why he wants Type-R red emblems on his coupe because he has a engine that’s better than a Type R…or something of the sort. His justification as to why he “deserves” to put the red H on his car…

…considering my car has better than a B18C5 engine anyway. It’s a GSR with Type-R pistons, cams, valves, springs, retainers, crank and ITR transmission…

*inserts gun in mouth*

Goodnight everybody…

Might as well use this one since it’s “better” than a Type R…

Get it? Haha…I’ll be here all week!…

ehhh….

Here’s the original link so you can see his other excuses as to why he wants to rock the red “H”…

A nostalgic moment…more Xanthic Design stuff…

I showed you the Civic from Xanthic so I guess I might as well show you the car that kinda got them noticed, at least stateside anyway. This silver carbon bodied Prelude is the sick. Then and now. Everything about it just screams ingenuity. Alot of japanese “Spocom” style, with loads of creativity that can’t be defined by a genre…I mean, when it comes from Xanthic and Weld Techniques Factory, would you really expect anything else?…

I actually read somewhere that when this car debuted at Tokyo Auto Salon or a similar show in ’05, many of the japanese spectators were asking what kind of car it was because this body Prelude is rarely modified at such an extreme level. Let’s start with the exterior. The entire exterior of this Prelude was redone completely in Xanthic’s signature silver carbon fiber. I think this might have been the first car that features the reverse tilt hood that was done in collaboration with Weld…

Front fenders were 10mm wider to house the 19×8 Iforged Swift wheels, brake upgrades included a NSX caliper swap with Weld brake rotors and pads. Imagine how rare that would be for someone stateside to rock some Weld brake parts. 90% of the people probably don’t even know that those parts existed…

You don’t really see Iforged wheels that often in Japan which fits the style of this build which of course is geared more towards US-themed builds. The trend follows into the interior with all the Sparco gear…

Full custom dash set-up with silver carbon like the exterior. That gigantic contraption sitting in place of the rear view mirror was a Sard RD-1 gauge unit…

Gotta love the grey mini-truck felt that lined the roof..haha. And of course the TJ-style fire extinguisher. I think if this thing were to catch fire you should probably just run because the whole thing would just melt. But who knows maybe Xanthic created some Jesus carbon fiber that doesn’t born…

The outside casing of the monitor looks a bit weird but I think that’s the effect that they were aiming for…

The rear followed the same theme along with the rear seats removed in place of a nitrous bottle and more sound equipment…

The bay is probably the most impressive of the entire build. Weld custom 4 barrel individual throttle bodies, Jun headwork, Weld full titanium exhaust system hooked to a Tanabe header, and NOS direct-port nitrous set-up. Tuned by Weld, the H22 was able to make 325hp on nitrous…Other trick parts included Weld power steering and coolant resevoir tanks…

For full weight reduction, driver and passenger were required to drive without clothing on as pictured here…It didn’t matter if it was a gloomy day or not…haha.

Here’s a shot of the center exit exhaust that I left out…

Overall it was a pretty extreme build but it had enough subtlety about it where you wouldn’t really notice until you really looked within. It’s a great example of Spocom Japanese-themed tuning at it’s finest. Even though alot of the USDM Jam/Spocom style tuning is mostly based on rebadging and USDM parts, Xanthic and Weld took it to another level. The Ej1 had the euro lights and the lambo doors but the Prelude doesn’t, which makes it still a pretty relevant build if it appeared stateside here and competed. Though with all the work, it would have probably been just a display vehicle more so than a build competing with street cars here. I could see it participating in a HIN or in the upper echelon EXE class of Showoff though…

On another note, I was driving home from San Diego today when some guy in an Integra was following me with one highbeam on, probably cuz he can’t afford to replace his super blue headlight bulb. I drive a 4-Runner so I kinda just changed lanes and then I happen to be side by side with a white CD Accord. I guess this thing thought that it was apart of Tokyo Street Racer or some shit and decided to go ape shits and tried to race the Integra. Mind you, both cars were less than spectacular and besides the traffic, the white Accord was also rolling on a fuckin spare donut wheel. Those things aren’t even meant to be driven over 55mph and this guy was doing ricer fly-bys and trying to provoke the Integra. The Integra wanted no part of it I guess so everytime the Integra would drive off the Accord would cut his ass off and then rev or some shit. I just wanna give that dude a shout-out if he reads this. Fuck you douchebag. Thanks for reading though….You know they make that smaller tire for temporary use and not for racing you fuck.

A Nostalgic Moment…Xanthic Design Civic…

Does anyone out there remember this Ej1 from Xanthic? I think it came out in about 05 or so, maybe before. Sure you may look at it and see the headlights and lambo doors and say “oh that shit is ricey” or that it looks like something straight out of an Extreme Autofest show. There are alot of things that most of us wouldn’t do to our cars nowadays or maybe even back then. Xanthic didn’t build the car to be “JDM” though, it was put together as an answer to the U.S. sport compact scene or what they deem: “Spocom” style. While we’re busy trying to get all things “JDM”, the japanese or busy taking our own style and making it better…

Despite the euro taillights and headlights, this thing was truly a piece of art. The entire body was redone in Xanthic’s own carbon fiber. They did numerous tests to get this done right and all seam lines were eliminated A-pillar to the rear quarter panel. The body was constructed in silver carbon fiber and painted red. Xanthic Design also added their own front and rear bumper replacement pieces…

…Another interesting feature was the tilt reverse hood which Xanthic worked in collaboration with Weld Techniques Factory to create. Not necessarily the most functional piece to create but when you have the technology to build it, why not show it off…

Unlike the majority of the lambo door’d Hondas stateside at that time, Xanthic actually did some engine work. And I’m not just talking about colored wireloom…Sitting inside this carbon bodied EJ1 was a B18C Type R engine and AE101 Corolla-spec individual throttle bodies. If that wasn’t enough, it also had a Nitrous Express set-up capable of 250hp…

The interior was strictly “spocom” themed also. Just a whole lot of red everywhere but the entire dash was also constructed of carbon fiber…

Here’s a shot of the two bottles and sound system set-up that replaces the rear seats…

Oh it also had 10mm overfenders on it too, probably needed to house the 19-inch Work XSA-02c wheels…

Look at that gigantic monster-tach….

I remember seeing this thing for the first time back in the day when I was glancing at a Option2 mag. I was interested because I never seen the japanese work on an EJ1. Most of the time all they had were EF’s and EG hatchbacks. The most extreme one at the time was that one EF with a MR-S frontend…..ugly ass car. It was definitely cool to see this thing back then though, especially all the little details. You really need to take a second look just to notice all the carbon fiber on the body because everything fit like OEM. I’m surprised the frontend never caught on. It’s not a bad looking front bumper either. Pretty clean in my opinion but I guess everyone was all about JDM OEM this and that. I mean a couple years ago people were forking out big money for a Bomex kit, can’t imagine why they wouldn’t try to cop Xanthic aero pieces. Maybe it was an availability thing. Alot of people probably don’t know but Xanthic also had EG front lip spoiler also. Another piece that would have been cool if it had caught on over here in the states…

Not bad right? it’s not as huge as the J’s lip and the fitment on it looks really tight.

From the earlier pics you can probably spot the BB6 Prelude in some of the shots. The Prelude was probably the more memorable car because it appeared in Option as well as some U.K. mags and even landed in Super Street. Both cars were both built with basically all the same aspects. The only main difference was the chassis, obviously…Both were definitely underrated though. It was probably a huge hit over in Japan because Spocom was really catching on at that time. In the U.S., it was all about JDM this and that and people probably didn’t pay too much attention to both cars because of it’s U.S.-inspired styling…ironic isn’t it?

I even managed to find a video!…I can’t seem to get it to embed into this page so here’s a direct link. You’ll need Windows Media Player to play it…Enjoy.

Xanthic Ej1 Video

Don’t worry, no rick rolling or any stupid shit like that…

Weekend Viewing…Dream the Impossible Documentary…

If you’re here on a weekend, you’re either a loyal fan or you just have absolutely nothing to do…The UFC ppv this weekend was lackluster, and maybe you’re just not that into the NFL playoffs. Since you’re already here you might as well sit back and watch some videos. This is from the Honda documentary titled: “Dream the Impossible”. It’s definitely worth a watch and it is an interesting look on what direction the automotive industry is taking…Enough from me, I’m taking time away from the videos…watch and enjoy…

Spoon’s new valve cover for boosted S2000′s…

Anything look a bit out of place to you? Kinda like the guy at the public pool with the boner? Well if you’re generally unfamiliar with S2000s and the way their engine bays look, you probably won’t notice the pic above with elongated valve cover…

User “Alexs2200″ over at S2ki was the first to spot this unusual valve cover when he was browsing the Spoon blog and noticed that something was different…

Sup Ya’ll,

Just wanted to share and answer the questions about Spoon’s new valve cover. Originally I posted wondering about why Spoon’s race car motor looked so weird. http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=635311&st=0

After visiting Spoon Japan, I was told what the deal is with this elongated valve cover. This new valve cover is a high volume cover. Mainly for the use of Turbo or Supercharged motors which run high crank pressure. This larger capacity cover helps the motor expel crank pressure at a higher rate over stock. Spoon told me it’s target release date is for some time in April this year.

I must say, it’s kinda cool to see that the people at Spoon are making and releasing parts for the boosted S2k crowd. I don’t think that the valve cover will work for guys that are supercharged though, but I’m not 100% sure. Not every kit is made the same and maybe some kits have the correct positioning where the valve cover would be useful for them…

I wouldn’t be surprised if this thing costs an arm and a leg but you gotta expect it. The “Spoon” name alone allows them to mark it up. Alot of guys will find it useful but be deterred by the price. Some guys who absolutely have no use for it but loads of money will get it just to have it. You know how it goes…I mean, I guess it wouldn’t hurt the NA guys to have it either. Never hurts to have more engine oil volume to keep everything lubricated. Or you can look at it as extra space to put stickers or some bootleg Spoon emblem…haha…

Here’s some side-by-side pics for comparison courtesy of AlexS2200…

Take a look at the valve covers side-to-side and the valve cover that’s actually mounted on the engine that they’re building. There’s a slight difference. Towards the end of the longer valve cover there’s two extra ports. On the stock cover, there’s a outlet next to the dipstick for crankcase ventilation that runs back to the intake manifold. On the new cover, that has been replaced by two separated ports. I wonder if that’s there so that people have the option to run a catch can. Kinda weird how the one on the actual Spoon engine doesn’t have it. Maybe they’re running it directly from the PCV side. Also, for the guys that aren’t running an oil catch can/system, it would look a little odd to just have a tube running upright out of the cover. Might look like a bit of an eyesore. Unless you can run a 90 degree elbow out of it or something. That and you got another port to block off. The double ported one could be a custom application but then what happens to ventilation on that end…Interesting…Guess you gotta have it to figure it out.

Honda Tuning Magazine…First issue of 2009 on it’s way!…

BACK ONCE AGAIN!! First issue of 2009 is on it’s way!!!

That’s right, after a long couple of winter months, we’re back on schedule for the new year. Our first issue of 2009 is already on it’s way. What to expect in 2009? More features that focus on well rounded Honda’s with attention to detail, more event coverage including meets, as well as more tech, industry insider info, and new products. It just gets better and better, don’t miss out, look for us on the newstand, or if you can’t find HondaTuning in your area, subscribe and have it delievered to your door.

This issue features enthusiasts that are building 2 jaw dropping projects each!

-Evil ESD of NWP4Life.com lands the front cover with his Mugen built DC2 and one of the sexiest NSX’s on earth.
-Sean aka “old skool” has an ITR fetish, so he decided to build 2!
-Leon Casino is a legend and his USDM and JDM CRX duo is one of the reasons why. One features authentic Mugen hardware inside and out, while the other has Spoon parts all over the place, but both have Classic Leon style with attention to detail.
-You like NSX’s? Of course you do, who doesn’t! We’ve got a pair that will blow you away
-Going back to our roots, a group of super old school Honda owners from the North show us how how the very early model Civic’s should look.
-Reaching back with the Autometer monster tach, wheel offset info, JCCS coverage, and much more, don’t miss out! Hitting newstands before the end of the month! -Honda Tuning Magazine Myspace page

Make sure to cop the issue cuz it’s a good one. And I’m not just saying that because I wrote the cover feature…haha. Honda Tuning is one of those magazines that are good for a real read and not just for a quick glance at the pics. I mean, it never fails with the pics but I lose sleep writing these things so the least you can do is take 10 min out of your time to read it! It’s filled with well thought-out stories and tech info, unlike this site, which is usually induced in a cloud of perversion….

Go check it out!

Got love for The Chronicles…?…

Click on the support page up top and help me cover some of my enormous debt that I acquired while traveling the world looking for the greatest world warriors and facing the likes of Blanka and E. Honda. Plus, Sagat is angry at me for forever scarring his chest with my Shoryuken. Yes that may actually be Ryu’s life story but like him, I am asian and shoeless. Please take a glance at the support page and pick up some stickers to show me some love!

J’s Racing TSX front bumper released…

Well, after all the hoopla about whether or not the grille with the gigantic Acura/Honda logo was ugly, J’s Racing officially releases it’s new front aero bumper for the TSX/Accord Euro-R. Their solution to everyone’s bitching? It was simple. Release the grille as an option. Leave it to the Japanese to come up with such a brilliant idea….I mean, it’s not like people weren’t gonna buy it and just take the grille off anyway, but the guys over at J’s Racing came up with an idea to charge you for that extra piece….

I personally prefer it without the grille. After staring at it and pre-production pics of it for the last couple months, I must say that I’ve grown used to staring at the big ass emblem. I guess it doesn’t look that bad…

I must say though, the overall car is a bit of a letdown. With all the other J’s demo cars rocking all kinds of crazy graphics and vinyl art, I was a little disappointed to see that this TSX was so plain. I expected to see like a gigantic camel breathing fire into some metal knives with cherry blossom pedals sprinkled down from the top….oh well. Maybe they’re working on it… =P

Mugen RR Advanced Concept…

One of the more impressive debuts at the Tokyo Auto Salon this year is the Mugen RR Advanced Concept Civic. Many of you are probably familiar with the red RR from the previous year but this Mugen’s “Advanced” version…Power is bumped up to 260ps, 20 more than the original RR and more body panels have been replaced with carbon fiber pieces…

Man, talk about tough economic times…guess Mugen is recession-proof. Rolling out an NSX and Accord concept, and this RR….Just a glance at all the carbon pieces show that no expense was sparred in this concept…

Here’s some shots of it in action…

Mugen has a special site that covers all three cars from Tokyo Auto Salon so it would probably be best to go check that out. They can probably tell you more about the cars than I can…but than again, I speak english and the site doesn’t…You can look at the pretty pictures though, and they even have a special video too…Next time your mom walks by and you say “pure sex” while staring at the computer, she won’t be embarassed by you and run away screaming…

Even more stuff from TAS 2009…

As the title obviously states, even more stuff from TAS 09 has popped up…Honda made a lot bigger of a presence than I thought that it would. Considering all the R35 and 370Z hype that’s been floating around the last couple months, I would have to say that Honda made a pretty decent showing…

This of course is the Arvou Motor Sports Service S2000 that appeared a month or so back at the Rev Speed Tsukuba Super Battle. From my site stats, I’ve seen that a couple people have searched for more info on this S2k in the past but, I really don’t know too much about it. Arvou does have there own blog though and if you can’t understand or read Japanese, feel free to take a  look at it here.

Parked next to the FEEL’s FD2 was this yellow GE Fit from LS Winds Eagle. It’s a much smaller company that probably not too many people have heard of here stateside but they actually make some pretty nice kits for the Fit crowd as well as other makes like the Suzuki Swift and Nissan March. Interesting choice of color and overall scheme….my mom calls that color “duck shit yellow” but most would call it “canary yellow”…what you may not know is that the chinese generally come up with names from the color swatch depending on animal fecal matter. Yup. What you may think is called “red” is actually “bulldog menstrual period red”

Speaking of red, here’s another GE Fit, this one is sporting a Noblesse kit. Many of you have probably seen the Noblesse kit on the VIP-styled black Fit that’s been floating around on various message boards. Well this one gives you a better idea of what it looks like with some color to it…

J’s Racing had their “Xtreme FD2″ present and always looking aggressive with the crazy graphics. I was wondering if they would bring out their CL7 with the new front bumper they recently completed but wasn’t able to catch any pics of it. Guess it didn’t make it out…

Here are some more shots of the J’s S2000. Man I love how this thing came out…I can’t get enough of it. I think it took home an award at TAS this year too. Definitely deserving…

I posted a pic of this in my previous post but forgot to say anything about it. This is the Tam Tam Hobby ShopFD2 that’s built for the Super Taikyu series…

Here’s a couple more pics of the EF that everyone is raving about…

Should be a couple more things worth mentioning so stay tuned…

Honda sightings at TAS 2009…

Oh what a busy weekend it was…not only in my own life but as you all know, Tokyo Auto Salon 2009 was also happening. I’m still looking around everywhere for more coverage of the event but these are the Hondas that have been spotted so far at the annual showcase…

This EF was posted up next to the TRA Kyoto Rocket Bunny S13. Very simple styling reminiscent of tuned Hondas of that decade…

I’m still looking around for more on this one. It was Mugen’s other significant debut besides the NSX RR Concept and this red Accord was deemed the “Mugen Accord 24 SC”…

Spotted this Route KS NSX which was apparently available for rental for events….The Japanese sure are trusting people….haha…

This is the Tamon Designs S2000. From all the Tamon Designs stuff I’ve seen, the aero has always been really aggressive and the lines a bit quirky…does that make sense? If not look up the Supra and tell me what word you can think of that describes that design….

In case you didn’t know, those are G R A M L I G H T S….

More as it comes…

I’m still not 100% sure what this is… =P

Mugen NSX RR Concept at TAS 2009…

Sorry for the lack of an update the other day, I’ve been pretty busy with my best friend’s wedding and dealing with all the groomsman/best men duties. Like the J’s Racing S2000 debut, this is also one of the biggest Hondas to hit TAS 2009. Not much info on the NSX other than the fact that it’s more than likely Mugen’s celebration of the NSX’s anniversary. Don’t really know if this thing even has an engine inside but the outside is beautiful…

More TAS 09 stuff as I find it….

J’s Racing debuts new S2000 at TAS 2009

Damn, all kinds of crazy stuff from the 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon…Probably one of the most significant debuts on the Honda side was the new widebody S2000 from J’s Racing…

Here’s some shots before TAS without the livery on it…Front looks alot better than the squarish version before it…

Suuuuuper aggressive fender treatment…

And here are the shots from the show…

The final product is so sick…I’m loving all the new J’s stuff lately especially with all the ridiculous graphics. Can’t wait to see more of this car and the moment it hits the track like the FD2 and Fit.

Honda cancels all kinds of stuff…

Wow, actual news today from the auto industry…well it might be a bit old but it’s news to me…

Fun appears to be on the chopping block at Honda. Plans for the successor to the S2000 sports car, a lineup of rear-drive Acuras, a proposed V8 engine and a drop-top built off the CR-Z hybrid are all dead, according to a report in a British magazine.

The reason: Honda is rethinking its product plans as it grapples with the global downturn in sales and economic conditions, Autocar is reporting.

In the United States, Honda’s sales fell 8 percent last year and fell 35 percent in December. Tough times have led to the demise of the NSX supercar program, which would have had a front-mounted V10 and was to be a 2010 model.

Now, Honda also has decided to shelve a rear-drive V8-powered BMW-fighting Acura that was due in 2015, according to Autocar. The V8–long a sticky issue with Honda’s green image–was seen as the wrong powerplant, given the sporadic price of fuel.

The Japanese automaker remains doubled-down on hybrids with a slew of them, including the new Insight due in the spring. Honda also sees diesel power as the best short-term option for larger vehicles. -Greg Migliore from Autoweek.com

Damn that sucks. First the next generation NSX, now the future S2000, and the CR-Z convertible. Shitty economy ruin the fun for everyone. Maybe somewhere down the line these projects will be rehashed but who knows….right now, everyone is strugging to get by.

Not much else for today, Tokyo Auto Salon does begin in a couple days though so we’ll see if there’s any Honda-related stuff coming from overseas…

What are you talking aboot, eh?…eh? Part 2!

The independent nation of Canadia has responded! Good lord man, the stereotypes are wrong! Canadians are fucking aggressive! Overly wound up aggressive at that. I haven’t had the chance to look through Reynard’s (I was wrong I guess, his name isn’t “Rex”) build thread because I’m at a different location and currently a bee’s asshole can transfer more data than my ISP….Man, WinnipegHeights is like the Canadian Honda-Tech, but before the vBB transition when everyone was REALLY aggressive. I was actually making the previous post because I was actually interested in seeing what these guys had to offer. It wasn’t exactly an argument about who’s was better necessarily. I thought it was a kind gesture to spotlight one of their cars since I’ve been getting a bit of traffic from there. Of course, one of them deemed this site “insignificant” and even went out and called me a douchebag! Haha…have a sense of humor! Let’s get some facts straight, my site insignificant? Possibly. I’m only getting traffic from WinnipegHeights? Wrong. I merely checked out your site because the numbers coming from your side where worthy enough for me to check. And I apologize if you don’t understand my candor, but throughout this site you will see that it is my general attitude. I actually took a quick glance at Rey’s CR-X and it’s actually a pretty nice car….it was probably just better left at that. I don’t know what the fuck all the arguing is about but keep that shit amongst yourselves…Shit I don’t hear from Winnipeg for 26 years and when they finally speak I’m the douchebag….yikes…goood day to ya Canucks! At least Nigeria was happy to hear about their helicopter being mentioned!

Canadians fighting amongst eachother here.(Warning: Lack of a sense of humor ahead)

There I returned some traffic back to your site, I’m outta here…

What are you talking aboot, eh?

Man traffic has been picking up alot lately around here. Guess word of mouth spreads fast…From time to time, I’ll take a look at the stats on this site to see where the majority of my hits are coming from. This particular week, most of my viewers are apparently coming from Canada. I know, I don’t get it either. I did alot of thinking, ate some marshmellows, and then generally did nothing for about 5 hours until I realized that it’s probably a result of me putting Danville’s EK in my first annual “Top 10 Honda’s” of the year…

Danville of course, is the owner of this car. Anyways, I go back to the stat list and see that the Canadian hits are originating from a site called “Winnipegheights”. Sounds a bit like a Canadian soap opera, but it’s actually a pretty huge site about Winnipeg’s import scene. I have no geographic prowess first of all, well I do, just not when it comes to Canada. Where is Winnipeg exactly? Umm I don’t know, somewhere between the beginning and the end of Canada I presume. Despite all that, they actually have a pretty booming import community. And one of the homies passed word to another homie, and somehow that homie knew someone Canadian, and that guy posted up the link to the Top 10 list on the Winnipegheights forum. According to the book of stereotypes, Canadians are generally very passive and non-aggressive people. But I guess some of them had a gripe about Chase’s CR-X making the list when someone by the name of “Rex” supposedly had a better one….

Let me say this…I don’t know many things in life, but I do know this: 1…Despite what the internet tells you, normal girls aren’t pornstars and they don’t like getting their titties slapped and being called whores. 2…If you haven’t seen it, how can you possibly have an opinion about it? What I mean to say is, maybe Rex’s CR-X should have been on the list and maybe it shouldn’t. I really can’t decide because I’ve honestly never even heard of the car or the owner. But seeing as how I’ve received so much love from the Canadians this week, I personally invite any of you who feel that Rex’s CR-X is better than Chase’s, to send me pics of it. Yeah, email it to me or link me to some pics of it. Oh and a spec list or something would be nice too. And if this thing is as great as you guys say it is, I will spotlight his CR-X on this site…how aboot that eh? Sounds like a plan to me….

Oh and guess what, if this turns out to be a joke or some shit and this Rex CR-X doesn’t exist, I’m gonna turn my back on Canada forever and remove Danville from my list and replace him with either this picture of my cat making a retarded face…

…or this yellow sheetmetal helicopter contraption from Nigeria…

The ball is in your court Canada! Don’t let Danville down!!
