Super Street FF Battle…

Headed out to Fontana today to check out the Super Street FF Battle. You’ve all heard me talk about the event in previous posts so no need to describe to you guys again. I picked up DC5*Brian and go to the Autoclub Speedway around11 or so. This was the competition portion of the event so there weren’t any spectators today. Basically just the people who were participating and their friends/crew members that accompanied them.

Set-up was very simple. Just a tent up front and cars that were running in the lot. Big-ups to General Tire for taking care of everyone all day with food and drinks. They were very kind. That and they supplied the tires for the event as well, which always helps…

Loi and the Sportcar Motion ITR had already made it’s runs for the day so I didn’t really get to see it in action. From what Loi was telling me, Andy had some trouble with traction and the car had quite a bit of oversteer. It still put in some great times though so it should most likely be at the top of the leaderboard…

Andy Hope was the designated driver for the event and this is his EF. I love this hatch. I was looking at it throughout the day. So subtle and timeless…

Mint Precedeo CSTs…

Sportcar ITR all stickered-up…

Raceline 8th gen. coupe with front staggered concave TE37s…

Raceline’s other Civic that they brought out…Gotta to see this thing run actually but towards the end it looked like it was having some problems. Didn’t know what was wrong exactly but it looked like it was burning alot of oil…

Cool to see someone actually track a car on some Mugen MF10s…

I was hoping to see Gil from Circuit Hero’s black ITR out here and running but he told me that the tranny took a shit on the dyno and he’s still trying to put it back together. His brother Will brought his hatch out instead and it was good to see this Civic again. He doesn’t really show the car or go to meets and it’s basically reserved for track events. It holds a little bit of significance for me because it’s actually one of the first cars I wrote a feature for back when I first started freelancing for Honda Tuning…

Speaking of Circuit Hero, Gilbert also brought out his EF to participate. I heard it did pretty well out there. Also another car I wrote a feature for maybe a year or so ago for HT mag…

This Integra belongs to Peter Tarach from Modified Magazine. He wasn’t apart of the FF Battle but came out to run either for practice or for another event. He’s actually the one that’s wrenching on the car in the pic and standing next to him is Jonathan Wong from Super Street…

This is Evasive Motorsports’ time attack project Si. I’ve been trying to convince Jay from JDMEgo to get one of these and build one up but he’s been talking about getting a Fit lately…

I think this is actually Tim Kuo’s S2000. He’s the guy who pilot’s the Sportcar Motion time attack EG and also drives for Evasive. I wasn’t too sure if this was his car but he mentioned he was moving for school and the car was loaded up with a bunch of stuff inside so it’s probably his. My first time seeing an aggressive set of Advan RZs on an S2000. Shit is sick…I love those wheels…

This Civic belongs to “Made in OC” from NWP/Honda-Tech. Don’t really know his real name but he came last minute to take Reza’s place at the FF Battle after Reza ran into brake problems late last night….

It was hot as shit so we hung out in the shade for awhile and watched the cars run. Like I said earlier, there were no spectators today so it was pretty empty at the Speedway. I’m sure there should be a pretty decent crowd tomorrow when they have the meet/show portion of the event. Basically people get to vote on which car they like better and that will have an effect on the final overal results. They’re also gonna do a dyno session too for the “horsepower” portion of the competition…

Katman actually showed up super late and right around the time I was leaving. I guess he ended up doing pretty well because he mentioned on Facebook that he finished 3rd….not bad for a guy that places Skate 2 all day long haha…

Results are still pending of course because of the horsepower/show portion of the event which takes place Saturday (today). I’m pretty confident that Sportcar Motion will take the whole thing though. It should have the best overall track time and should easily take the horsepower portion. Just the show part is kinda iffy because it’s based on spectator votes. Hopefully that doesn’t have too big of an effect on the final outcome. Even with the traction problems Loi said it did very well and when I asked Katman about it, he said: “I think Loi pretty much owned it”. Guess we’ll have to wait and see though…

The rest are just some random pics I took. I’ll try to get some action shots when I get the hi-res versions from Loi. He had his fancy lense out there and was snapping pics all day. I went home after that and KO’d. It was hot as shit and it just drained me. I heard General Tires took all the guys out to Yardhouse afterward…Must be nice!

I’ll try to make it out there tomorrow for the rest of it but no guarantees….All of you should definitely go out and check it out though. Just to see the cars in person. Plus they’re having a meet too, which is always good. Stay hydrated though, shits pretty hot out there…

I <3 this EF…perfect the way it is…
