Happy Thanksgiving everyone (In the USA anyway, for others, uhh…Happy Thursday or Friday)… Today we’re gonna be taking a look at a Turkey Day-edition of The Chronicles’ 2012 SEMA Coverage. We’re definitely winding down to the final sections of coverage and I think by either Monday or Tuesday we’ll be able to complete the series. It’s been an interesting journey and I’m happy that I was able to be in attendance at this year’s SEMA event. I know many of you may not be into all the variety that’s been made available to you in this series of posts but I am a die-hard car guy so I love being able to see all types and styles of builds. If you’re not into it, oh well, come back another time when I might have something for you. This SEMA stuff is for the car guys that love everything about cars, not just what brand or make or model they are….
I got an hour or so before it’s time to feast on some Thanksgiving dinner so I’ll try to knock out this set of photos before I gotta go stuff my face. Enjoy and I wish all of you guys a safe and happy holiday. I walked by this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle on Day 2 but there was a good sized crowd around it so I didn’t get a good chance to look at it until the morning of day 3. While it is a very clean, well thought-out build, the most interesting feature about this Chevelle is that it is powered by liquid propane injection…
The Chevelle is called “ProPane” because it has a 454 cubic inch big block GM LS motor with a Magnuson supercharger and LPI (Liquid Propane Injection). The LPI set-up uses 16 injectors and helps the motor make 925 horspower and 954 lb-ft of torque…
Inside, the interior has been re-upholstered in red with silver/black accents along with a pair of Cobra seats…
Interesting rear suspension set-up with remote resevoirs…Another tidbit that should be mentioned is that this vehicle was commissioned to be built for Mother’s cleaning products and was on display at their booth at SEMA…
I walked by this Datsun 510 a couple of times throughout the two previous days I was there and didn’t really think anything of it. It was really clean but I didn’t think there was much to it. The other times it had its hood closed but on day three, I finally got a glimpse of what was lurking underneath…
Crammed inside the tiny engine bay was a GM LSx motor swap. The motor barely fits and the firewall had to be modified and pushed back for the motor to fit…
The windows were closed so it may be hard to see, but if you look closely, you can see how the seating position has changed relative to the extended dash to fit the GM swap…
I walked by and thought to myself “Wow, that’s a really clean VW Karmann Ghia”. It was so clean that I went to go look at the interior, and quickly realized it was not a Karmann Ghia at all…
The interior looked way too modern so I walked around the car and realized that it was actually a Porsche Boxster convertible converted into a Karmann Ghia body…Pretty nuts…
This Karmann Ghia/Boxster mash-up was built by Anthony Miller from Translog GT in Pennsylvania. If you didn’t know any better, you wouldn’t really think that this was a Boxster unless you caught the suspension and interior set-up. Awesome work…
Really clean ’50s Chevrolet Advance Design 3100 pick-up…
Loved this custom modernized Chevy Camaro on display…When it comes to domestic builds, it’s really nice to see complete restorations but also cool to see some resto-mod builds just to see the level of creativity in transforming a classic car…
Matte grey/silver VW Beetle outside of the North Hall on Rotiform wheels…
Chopped-top, laid-out Mercury coupe on display inside the North Hall that people probably missed because people never go to the North Hall to look at cars…
The Ringbrothers’ 1970 Camaro build aka “Diversion”. One of my favorites at SEMA with so many details that you just have to study it in person. Just look at the engine bay and how the battery terminals have been integrated into the body. Fucking amazing stuff. That and the cooling system and plumbing. Hell, the whole bay is sick. This 1955 Ford Thunderbird won the Mother’s Shine Award for it’s beautiful finish in Glasurit Brillant Red paint…Love the custom interior…
Back in the Wheel/Tire Hall, I snapped a couple more pics of the ADV.1 models… The one in the middle is Elle Navarro of course, girl on the left I don’t know, and the one on the other end is Gina Darling (I believe…)…
Also got some shots of some ADV.1 wheels….great looking wheels though I have to admit I haven’t heard good things about them lately…Rather not get into it since it’s all hearsay but I do like the designs and the finish on their wheels…

Lamborghini Aventador at the Forgiato booth…I don’t know why, but when I look at those wheels, it makes me want to play that old Crossfire game from when I was a kid… Oh, you wouldn’t believe how many people were just leaning up against this Aventador. It was crazy. In the few moments, I was there, the security guard assigned to watch the car almost beat up like 4 people trying to sit inside the car or lean against it for a photo…
I’m not gonna lie, I snapped this photo in an attempt to capture that massive ninja slipper sticking out of the black tights on the girl to the left but the poor lighting and size of this photo prevents me from properly explaining what I saw…It looked like a snapping turtle…that is all…haha…
