Wekfest San Jose 2013 Coverage…Part 3…

IMG_7133-Edit

Happy Monday all, welcome back to the 2013 Wekfest San Jose coverage. We are now knee-deep into show coverage and today will be no different. I was pretty happy with being able to cover the entire show before the gates opened to the public but since not everyone returned to their cars early that morning, there were various cars that weren’t properly set-up yet for the show (hoods popped and displays and what not) so I made sure to go back and get photos once they were done. Even still, it got so hectic later on in the day that I somehow managed to forget to photograph some cars that I really wanted to capture. It happens from time to time and it’s not really that big of a deal but I do pride myself on being thorough so it is a bit of a bummer to me when I suddenly remember that I forgot someone’s car when I get home and are going through the photos. If I did manage to miss you when you finally go through all this coverage, just remember that it wasn’t intentional and I just forgot to come back…

With that said, I think we should take a few short minutes to cover the idea that many of you may have thought that the show was smaller than you expected; As I mentioned in the previous posts, the venue that was used this year was actually much larger than the Fort Mason venue of old. It was actually supposed to be even larger but the San Jose Convention Center was going through renovations and one of the halls that the Wekfest show was supposed to occupy ended up not being ready in time. During the registration and approval process, there were cars that were accepted to be in the show that later had to be turned away because Wekfest just ran out of space. It was a tough call on their part but with fire code and making sure that there was enough space for spectators, it was necessary to make the cut. I talked to the guys from Wekfest and they assured me that next year, the show would most certainly be bigger because that unfinished hall within the convention center would be ready. So for those of you who were wondering, the show was supposed to be bigger, but it was already much bigger than the Wekfests of year’s past. Next year promises to be the biggest yet…

For those that are lagging and missed the first two parts, I’ve provided the links to those two posts below. Catch-up please before you continue…

S30Z on Advan Racing Oni wheels. You’re probably noticing the towel underneath the front end of this car. The San Jose Convention Center management required that all cars that participated in the Wekfest show have towels to absorb any fluids that could potentially leak onto their floors…

Our buddy Hiro Ueda from Japan had a special surprise for everyone at Wekfest San Jose. His buddy, also conveniently named Hiro, had his E-AT Civic from Japan transported over to the states for display. Ranz Motorsports’ incredibly well-engineered Mazda RX-4 build featuring a Toyota 2JZ-GE swap. This thing has to be seen in person to truly be appreciated. I believe it has parts from like 4 different vehicles combined into one. The interior is nuts and has a Lexus IS300 dashboard…

One of the greatest ITR builds I’ve ever witnessed in all my years in this industry. I think this might be the last show for Anh’s R but I guess we will have to wait and see. If it is, it had an incredible run and made its mark in the Honda community for years to come…

IMG_7187-Edit

IMG_7188-Edit

Really loved this TE27 Toyota Corolla better known as a “Mango” to many old school Toyota heads. The whole build comes together well with the fender flares, RS Watanabe wheels, 2TG motor and Solex carbs…

IMG_7197-Edit

Chameleon-coated Z33 bagged on Luxury Abstract wheels…

IMG_7198-Edit

Interesting to see this S2000 at Wekfest SJ because I believe it is originally a build from Miami, Florida. I saw it for sale not too long ago and I guess someone from out here purchased the car. Pretty unique-looking S2K with Sorcery front bumper, Spoon front fenders, and ASM rear fender flares. It used to have some rare First Molding side mirrors too but I guess maybe the original owner sold those separately… I believe the car was also a lot lower before. Guess the new owner didn’t want to risk breaking that expensive Sorcery carbon front lip…

IMG_7202-Edit

Closing out Part 3 with a couple shots of the chrome vinyl-wrapped RWB Porsche from eGarage. Looks great with the HRE Vintage Series wheels . I’m also really happy with how the shots came out of this car because it typically isn’t an easy task photographing what is basically a mirror…

Much more to come this week. Thanks for looking!!…
