I had a great time at this year’s Japanese Classic Car Show and am looking forward to their 10th annual event next year. There is just something so utterly “cool” about witnessing some of these builds that you just won’t see anywhere else. Some of these guys just stay in hiding and keep their classics to themselves until JCCS rolls around. I’m happy that many of the owners have that mentality because it really helps to make the JCCS event series that much more prestigious. Every now and then they will go out for a cruise here and there but for the most part, these gems are tucked tightly away in the confines of a garage. On one day in September every year, they get to bring their timeless Japanese automotive builds out to Long Beach where they are seemingly in a world of their own where time and age doesn’t exist. These enthusiasts come together, catch-up, look at great cars, meet new faces, and escape from reality…
Today marks the third and final installment of the JCCS 2013 coverage. If you missed the previous two parts, links have been provided below where you can catch-up…
Japanese Classic Car Show 2013 Coverage…Part 1…
Japanese Classic Car Show 2013 Coverage…Part 2…
Here are the rest of the photos from that day. Thanks for looking and enjoy…
Beautifully restored Toyota Corolla with carbon fiber chin spoiler, fender flares, and Hayashi Street wheels…
1st generation Toyota Celica coupe on old school TOM’s wheels…
Vintage early 70’s Yamaha race bike…
Loved the rawness of this Toyota Hilux pick-up on gold Enkei 92s…
Ryan from R-Rydes’ immaculately restored Toyota Crown also on Enkei 92 wheels…
1971 Toyota Corolla restored by P.J. Bonafacio on 13-inch Compomotive mesh…
Some more shots of one of my favorites from JCCS 2013, this resto-modded Datsun 510 coupe with 13B Rotary engine swap and bronze Volk Racing RE30s. Overall execution and usage of contrasting colors is on point with this build….
Speaking of great execution, it also doesn’t get any better than this flared Fairlady Z on Panasport wheels…
GX71 Toyota Cressida on RS Watanabe wheels. Nice touch with the blue striping on the wheel…
1988 DSM Starquest (Starion/Conquest) with 2002 GM 5.7L LS1 V8 swap on black HRE Vintage series wheels. You guys may remember seeing some shots of this really cool build in some coverage I did of the Modified Magazine “Street Car Shootout” a while back…
CA18DET-powered Nissan S12 200SX coupe with custom flares….
Third gen. RA65 Toyota Celica with 1JZ-GTE swap on Epsilon mesh…
Bright yellow S30Z on SSR Longchamp XR4 wheels featuring a turbocharged RB25 motor swap…
This orange Z with over fenders looked great on RS Watanabe wheels while utilizing a more conventional carbureted Nissan L-series motor…
The S13 chassis is still not regarded as a “classic” by JCCS staff but there was one on hand at this year’s event. This of course is Steven Lam’s S13 coupe on 17-inch Barramundi Elevens. His car was at JCCS because he had it on display over at the Barramundi Design booth…
A couple spaces over from the BMD booth was this red Hakosuka Skyline 2000GT….
Pretty awesome to see a mint set of WRD Chevlon wheels on this Mazda RX-2…
I was wondering why this Mazda R100 was running such a big Epsilon mesh wheel but when I looked under the hood, it made sense because the owner needed a bigger, wider tire to keep all the power on the floor…
Lurking beneath was a very unique supercharged Rotary motor…
Headed back over to the Honda area to get some more shots of the Rat-styled Civic Wagon…Again, not really to everyone’s tastes but I do dig the fine details of the build…
One more look at the JSP Fab F20C-powered Corolla drag car…
I am a huge fan of this Datsun 510 wagon with SR20DET swap. As far as nice, clean engine bays on 510s go, this wagon is about as good as it gets.. Love the nude bay and how you only see the essentials of the SR motor. Even the breather set-up is executed cleanly. Awesome job, especially on a more uncommon wagon chassis…
Datsun pick-up truck with SR20DET swap and 6-lug bronze Volk TE37s…
Ryan Romaine’s Datsun Bluebird coupe from R-Rydes…
One more of the Kenmeri Skyline on RS Watanabes…
First generation Mazda Cosmo Sport coupe from the Mazda collection…
1980 Mazda RX-7 widebody on SSR Formula Mesh…
Really clean RX-7 turbo on black BBS wheels…
Some more of the legendary Mazda 787B Le Mans race car including one of my favorites shots of the day detailing the Volk Racing Super Fine Magnesium center-lock wheel…
…and closing out Part 3 of 3 with shots of one of the baddest AE86 Corollas on the planet, Steve/Bo Wong’s Honda F20C turbocharged Corolla…
That’s a wrap. It’s been a pleasure…
Not to be a dick, but the S12 with flares is running an FJ20ET, not a CA18DET.
I was about to point that out too lol
That R100 on teh big Epsilons also has a FORD 9″ rear end! lol
