The Chronicles 2014 Japan Trip Coverage… Part 3: Tokyo Auto Salon Coverage Continues…

Photos & Words by Joey Lee

I promised myself I’d try to get more stuff done around the office today so I’ll keep the intro brief. I’ve been trying to get the remodeling in this bathroom finished before Chinese New Years and I’m quickly running out of time. Though things came together pretty quickly over here, there is still much more to be done. It gets pretty cold over here in my office late at night so it is just easier for me to move things around and get shit done during the daytime when its warm. I honestly haven’t even unpacked from my trip yet because I’ve been occupied with going over all the photos that I took while I was in Japan as well as catching up on sleep. The storefront should be re-opened soon once I get all my merchandise in order. The move to this new location should really help me to keep everything organized and stocked since I have the space now to store things. Anyways, I better get back to work. There will be a steady flow of photos coming in the next couple of weeks so there is really no time to take a break and skip updates. If you guys are only coming on here every other day or something, you’re likely to miss out on some good updates so I suggest you try to keep up-to-date with everything that is going on. Things slowed down towards the end of the year as far as updates go but we are really gearing up now in 2014….

For those of you that missed the two previous parts of my Japan trip or maybe just want to take a look back, the links have been provided below…

The Chronicles 2014 Japan Trip Coverage… Part 2: Tokyo Auto Salon Coverage Begins…

With that out of the way, here is a ton more coverage of the 2014 Tokyo Auto Salon event…

IMG_3289-Edit

Advan Racing has typically had a pretty nice line-up of Japanese tuner builds in their booths over the years at TAS. Last year, I remember seeing a really nice FD3S build that ended up belonging to the owner of Advan. This year, they decided to do something entirely different and displayed this Ferrari 458 Italia on their new Advan AVS Model F50 wheel…

…and this Porsche Boxster S on Advan Racing RSII…

IMG_3290-Edit

Another R35, this one a bit more on the tame side, also from Kansai Service or formerly known as HKS Kansai….

IMG_3293-Edit

Kansai Service Toyota 86 on the new Advan GT which is now available in smaller sizes….

IMG_3300-Edit

Varis brought out a fleet of bad ass builds, including this R35 GTR with their full kit. Hard to tell but the front fenders are widened with fender extensions that overlap the front bumper….

IMG_3304-Edit

Here is the other Varis R35, this one with a more aggressive front splitter and rear wing. The great thing about Varis is that they offer so many optional add-on pieces for their kits that can easily change the look of the entire car. I think the Varis FR-S/86 kit alone has 4 different variations….

Varis Impreza WRX STI GVB widebody demo car on Volk Racing TE37RT. I like how they tied the red accents in from the wheels and carried it over onto their livery…

The Varis EVO X demo car carried a similar theme but wore blue to match the new Volk Racing ZE40s…

The KM4SH Toyota 86 with Rocket Bunny x Speedhunters aero kit debuted at Tokyo Auto Salon. “KM4SH” stands for “Kei Miura For Speedhunters”….

IMG_3394-Edit

Aimgain LF-Sport Toyota 86 at the WED’s display area…I really like the front bumper of this kit and how it resembles the new faces of the Lexus brand. The wheel arches on the custom over fenders and a little different but I understand why they chose to do them that way to follow the lines of the kit…

IMG_3399-Edit

Aimgain VIP EXE Lexus IS300h F-Sport with the full package of Aimgain goods including their wheels and big brake kit…

IMG_3411-Edit

IMG_3400-Edit

Aimgain LS460 F-Sport featuring their new VIP GT Grand Tourer aero kit. They have had the rear over fender wrapped in 3M carbon wrap just to show off the piece because it is so subtle that it might otherwise blend in with the big body of the LS…I really dig this kit because I think it is a clean way of adding a over fender to this chassis without making it look over the top like all the riveted Rocket Bunny and Liberty Walk stuff you see so much of lately. The front is also widened too but you wouldn’t really even notice unless you saw the add-on piece that goes over the front bumper. Overall, just a great design by Aimgain…

IMG_3402-Edit

The other Aimgain widebody Toyota 86, this one done in white with subtle red/black accents. Love how the Work Meister S1s look with the gloss black lip and high-polished face….

IMG_3407-Edit

IMG_3409-Edit

The other side of the 86 had the same Work S1 wheels but done in a complete different color. This side had gloss bronze lips mixed with a satin green face….

IMG_3415-Edit

IMG_3414-Edit

Spiegel Racing’s Honda Beat roadster on Work Seeker CX wheels. The wheels look huge on the car but remember that you could probably fit a Honda Beat in your back pocket if you really wanted to…

IMG_3420-Edit

Lexus LS460 rocking my favorite aero kit for this particular chassis from Japanese tuning parts manufacturer, Skipper. I mean, the new Aimgain kit is right up there too but I just love the simplicity of the Skipper kit…

IMG_3423-Edit

Closing it out for today with a shot of this Z33 convertible from Star Dast. This Z looks to have retrofitted over fenders from a Rocket Bunny 86 kit and also has a Z34 headlight conversion….The conversion is so clean that you’d almost think that this was a Z34 Fairlady until you looked at the rest of the car and noticed the longer Z33 body…

Well, that’s a wrap for today. Still much more to come so hopefully you guys stick around to see it. Thanks for looking!!…
