Akebono USDM Meeting Vol. 2 Coverage…Part 1…
Now when we last left off, the car limbo contest was in full effect. There are some more great shots from Shota Mori along with the many great reactions from the meet attendees, so let’s get straight to the photos….
As the bar progressively got lower, it made it difficult for most cars to clear without some assistance. Since most of the guys there didn’t have air bag suspension to rely on, they resorted to lowering the car the old school way, but flooding the car with people and adding weight to it. I don’t know how big of a difference this actually made for the guys with stiff suspension set-ups but it made for some great shots. These EFs looked like clown cars with all the people that were able to fit inside them…
Wataru Sasaki’s EF looked great hammered to the pavement….
Guys like Hideo Shingu even offered their services by laying inside the trunk to help get the rear end lower…
Ryousuke Takahashi’s CR-X had so many people in it that one guy couldn’t even fit inside all the way…
The measuring stick…
Satoshi Aizawa’s attempt…
Eventually all the cars were parked and the meet got underway…
Interesting concept adding an OEM JDM ITR front lip to the existing SI-VTEC front….
Kohei Saito’s Midor Green EK9 Civic Type R on Spoon SW388 wheels…
A duo of coupes and a EK Ferio….
Mokkun’s EF hammered on Kosei wheels…
DA8 Integra XSi sedan on rare old school Artrise (Work) Venette Vega wheels…
Wataru Sasaki aka Slammed Magic’s EF…
White Work RSZ-Rs looking good on this DA Integra…
DC with 98-01 USDM Integra front end…
Best windshield banner goes to this Akebono decal that says “The Power of Dream Homies”, a play on the popular Honda slogan…
Hideo Shingu’s always immaculate Honda Integra Type R with 97-spec ITR conversion and WED’S TC05 wheels…
EJ Civic coupe slammed on old Volk Racing NRS….
Civic coupe with Mugen SS front lip and Work Meister 2-piece S1 wheels…
Parked next to him was Kohei Saito’s EK9…
A couple more shots of Saito’s Civic. I’m sure you guys have seen this car numerous times on this site before so it really needs no introduction. For those not in the know however, Saito’s CTR is a true EK9 Type R that has been converted and remade to resemble a USDM Civic DX….
Really dig the subtle touches of his build like the Spoon Sports side mirrors coated with a layer of green paint to match the Midori Green…
Japanese Honda enthusiasts definitely have love for the bug-eye Integras…
Some of the guys rode the Yamaha PW50 around…
Can’t get enough of Sasaki’s Civic. Everything just flows so well…
DAs, DBs, and DCs….
One of my favorite shots from Shota Mori. Just a great capture at the perfect time…
Mori didn’t get too many shots of this EF on Work Carving Head 40s with the rare Mariachi caps…
Another great capture by Shota Mori…
Civic Shuttle on SSR Formula Mesh…
This is awesome right here. It’s already rare to see modded Acura 3.2 CL coupes as is, but even rare to see a USDM CL in Japan on Desmond Marquis Promadas….
Hope you guys are enjoying all this old school EF/EE love….
Tonpe Nakamaru fixing something minor on his EF2….
“The Power of Dream Homies…”
Probably the most random car at the event was this Mustang convertible…
Aizawa on the go….
Mokkun’s EF Civic as he left the venue…
…and the rest of the group left soon after….
Well, that’s it for the Akebono USDM Meet. Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend and a safe July 4th holiday. Thanks for the support and as always, thanks to Shota Mori for the great work…
might be a stupid question but were the Civic coupes ever made in Japan or were they imported in from North America?
